In this episode, I talk with powerhouse artist, art and indigenous advocate, and now politician Bec Mac. If you're from Brisbane and within the creative industry, you've probably heard about her or seen her in action interviewing artists.  We talk about her creative side and why she's getting into politics!

About Bec Mac:
The core of my life’s work is connecting community through conversation and meaningful experiences. I am an artist and a creative entrepreneur and have founded three businesses LOVE TV, POPSART arts media and Chrysalis Project creative Place Makers which are all ultimately focused on making cities great by connecting people! I believe in the power of art and creativity to do this by uniting communities, revitalising their public spaces, and helping us understand better who we are as people.

Presently I am putting all this experience and passion into my campaign to run as the local candidate in the upcoming council election.

My legendry live art event LOVE TV has been presented Internationally in partnerships with multiple City Councils including the City Of New York and last year at The Cairns Festival and was a ground breaker in creative placemaking.

As founder of POPSART Digital Placemaker, I revolutionised the way audiences engage with the arts through spontaneous, insightful interviews with artist at their exhibition’s openings and launches. POPSART collaborators have included QAGOMA, UQ Art Museum, Museum Of Brisbane, Opera QLD, and Inner-West Council Sydney, Richard Bell for Embassy 2019 Venice Biennale and Cairns Indigenous Art Fair. I have recorded over 600 interviews with creatives over the last six years forming a deep social and cultural documentation of the creative sector both locally and Nationally.

My passionate advocacy for a just and equal society saw my active involvement in the Senate Inquiry into Fake Aboriginal Art. In 2019 I collaborated with Aboriginal artist Richard Bell on his Venice Biennale project and my business Chrysalis Projects worked in partnership with local not for profit organisation Micah Projects in the Arts Against Gender-Based Violence initiative and I initiated projects centered around disability and caring, including documenting stories of lived experiences for people for the Brisbane Zero Campaign against Homelessness in 2022.

My work is unique and sits at the intersection between the creative community, on-line media, activism, the urban environment, cultural organisations, government, community engagement and the philosophy and outcomes of Placemaking.
