Our National Day of Prayer is here on May 1, 2025! It is time once again for Christians to take part in this special annual event that calls for us to take time to pray for our nation, the church, our government, our society, our leadership across this nation, for peace in our world, and for a revival that brings repentance and biblical spiritual renewal to our land. Certainly our prayer needs are great in these times. We live in a world that often seems dangerous, which requires the need for us to stand in the gap - the spiritual gap - and call upon our God to bring us back to His will and ways. This episode of 2Days Denarius celebrates the history of the National Day of Prayer, along with providing three prayers (including one from the late great Evangelist, Billy Graham. These prayers may serve as a guide or encourage direct participation for those who listen, or those who desire guidance on what to pray for. There is strength in numbers when God's people pray together! Join in with millions of other Americans on Thursday, May 1, 2025 in our annual concert of prayer!
* Two corrections are added here: 1) President Ronald Reagan signed his first proclamation for the National Day of Prayer in 1983. 2) Congress approved the National Day of Prayer to be observed on May 1 annually on the first Thursday in May, which was signed into law by President Reagan, in 1988.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
