Some say the Biblical book, Song of Solomon, is meant to paint a picture of the love between God and His people, while others say it's about the romantic love between a husband and wife.  But it isn’t either / or.  Nothing in Scripture is one dimensional, so passages in the Bible often have both an obvious meaning, as well as a deeper symbolic meaning; and that’s exactly what is happening with Song of So...

In King David’s household, we see rape, murder, treason, deception, jealousy, hate, lack of accountability, lack of repentance, and a complete disregard for God and His Word. Considering that, how can David possibly say at the end of his life in 2 Samuel 23:5, that his house is right with God? And what implications does David's bold statement have for us?

In 1 Samuel 22, even while David was running for his life, he took the time to bring his parents to Moab to keep them safe. Caring for our aging parents can sometimes be hard, but as David shows us, that is never a reason not to do it!

In this episode, we look at Ruth 1:1. The book of Ruth follows on the heels of the book of Judges; arguably the darkest period in Israel's history where, "Everyone did what was right in their own eyes." The book of Ruth is seen as a bright side in that tragic period. And it was! However, it doesn't start out that way. What does Elimelech and his family, "doing what was right in t...

In Judges 6:1 - 2,  the Israelites hide out in caves and dens instead of crying out to God, repenting of their sin, and moving on. It takes them seven years before they realize this is what they needed to do. Sometimes, even as Christians who know that Jesus has granted us forgiveness of our sins, we can hide out in our own caves of guilt and shame. What does this Judges passage teach us about the sin and dan...

Join us as we delve into Joshua chapter 10 where we see God hardening the hearts of pagan kings, allowing Joshua to totally destroy all 31 of these kings!

When we read the book of Deuteronomy, it may read like a checklist of things God's people are commanded to do, and things God's people are commanded not to do. But if that's all you are getting out of it, you are missing a lot! Deuteronomy is not so much a checklist for us, as it is for God - listing all of the things God does for His people. From creation, God has appointed men to be strong, good, Godly leaders of their wives, their families, and the church. The first sin committed was a result of Adam not asserting that role and instead, being passive. We saw it with Abraham and Jacob as well. And Aaron was no better in the narrative of the golden calf in Exodus 32. Throughout Scripture and up to today, we see the sometimes deadly effects passiv...

Is there anything harder than waiting?! Especially, when what you are waiting on is a good thing - something you feel God is calling you to. But our timing is not God's timing.
