The distance between thinking about the thing and doing the thing should always be as short as possible. Anything that gets in the way is likely to stop you forming the habits and the good practise that you want. So, keep your equipment together, keep it set up if you can, and find ways to ensure that the journey from "I should record an episode now" to pressing Record is as short and effortless as possible.
