SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
A Moment in Devotion with Dr.
John P.
Johnson.
Seeing the Savior.
Growing up, I remember being inmany of our church annual Easter
plays, but I don't rememberseeing Jesus as my Savior.
I remember going to churchSunday after Sunday, hearing our

(00:25):
pastor preach from Matthew's toRevelations.
But I don't remember seeingJesus as my Savior.
I remember going to Sundayschool, being taught about the
lives of Moses, Abraham, Isaac,David, and baby Jesus.

(00:47):
But I did not see Jesus as mySavior.
As a young man, I remembersaying, I know Jesus Christ, but
I did not see Jesus as mySavior.
The children of Israel, God'schosen people, heard the promise

(01:10):
of Christ coming through the lawand the prophets of old, but
they did not see Jesus as theirSavior.
At Christ Jesus' baptism, many, including John's disciples,
heard John the Baptist say,Behold the Lamb of God who takes

(01:32):
away the sin of the world.
John chapter one verse twentynine.
But they did not see Jesus astheir Savior.
I hope that you can see thatfrom the days of Adam and Eve to
this present moment, many havehad the knowledge of Jesus

(01:57):
Christ, have seen his mightyworks in Scripture and in their
own life.
And many have heard his word, but still have not seen Jesus
Christ as their Savior.
I found out there is only onepower that will allow us to see

(02:22):
Jesus Christ as our Savior, andthat is the power of the gospel
of Jesus Christ.
I heard the Apostle Paul say inRomans chapter 1, verse 16 and
17, for I am not ashamed of thegospel, for it is the power of

(02:44):
God for salvation, to everyonewho believes, to the Jews first,
and also to the Greek.
For in it the righteousness ofGod is revealed, from faith to
faith, as it is written, but therighteous man shall live by

(03:09):
faith.
One day I heard Jesus Christ sayto me through the gospel, I am
the one who came down fromheaven.
I am the one, the man who walkedamong you.

(03:32):
John chapter one verse fourteen.
I am the one who was withoutsin, suffered and died for you.
I am the one who was buried in aborrowed tomb.
I am the one on the third dayrose from the dead to pay the

(03:58):
penalty for your sins and topurchase a place for you in
heaven.
Now I sit at the right hand ofGod.
Jesus Christ was saying to meand is saying to you, I stand at
the door and knock.

(04:18):
If any man hear my voice andopen the door, I will come in
and sup with him.
Revelation chapter three, versetwenty.
Jesus is saying, I'm your Saviorfrom sin, death, and hell.

(04:40):
Believe by faith alone that Isuffered and died for you on the
cross.
I was buried for you.
I rose from the dead on thethird day to pay the penalty for
your sins and to purchase aplace for you in heaven.

(05:02):
Now the Bible says, Faith comesby hearing, and hearing by the
word of God.
You have just heard the word ofGod, gospel.
Will you believe by faith andsee Jesus Christ as your Savior?

(05:24):
I did.
Please share your decision withfriends, strangers, and loved
ones.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
