In this episode, we dive into the emotional challenge of setting boundaries with older adults—especially in Black and Brown communities where “respect your elders” is often used to silence younger voices. We talk about the deep-rooted stigma around therapy, and how seeking help is often seen as weakness or betrayal in our families. But we’re choosing to break the cycle. We discuss what it looks like to speak up when something doesn’t feel right, even when it’s coming from someone older. Respect should go both ways—and healing sometimes means saying, “I don’t agree,” even if it ruffles feathers.
