Speaker 2 (00:32):
Welcome to a Queen's Opinion.
My name is Queen, my voice, myopinion and your listening ears
your listening ears.
This episode is called BigDreams, small Wallets Series
Summer Vacation.
Why do big dreams make us smile?

(00:55):
What is a dream, and do youthink you can achieve it?
Up the word dream in the OxfordDictionary and it stated that a
dream is a series of thoughts, images and sensations occurring
in a person's mind during sleep.
The second definition said thata dream is a cherished

(01:17):
aspiration, ambition or idea.
In this series, we are going totalk about big dreams and small
wallets in various areas in ourlives.
I asked some people I know whatthey dream about, as it relates
to something big in their lives.
Of course, I got the obviousanswers like the big house, big

(01:41):
vacation and a big wedding thebig house, big vacation and a
big wedding.
So I decided to make this aseries to talk about all three
topics Vacations, weddings and abig house.
We are going to kick off theseries with the big summer
vacation.
Why?

(02:02):
Because everybody wants to goon a big summertime vacation,
don't you?
We all have had a dream or twoabout a big vacation In the
winter.
We can't help but think aboutthat big summer vacation.
We dream about the hot body weare going to work towards for

(02:23):
the summertime.
Before going on the vacation,we listen to musicians talking
about the summer and whatthey're going to do during the
summertime and places that theyare going to or have been to.
Of course, most people I knowwant to go out to the Caribbean
islands, with the clear water, white beaches, caribbean music,

(02:47):
friendly islanders and greatfood.
Yes, it just sounds fun, doesn't it?
Whenever we talk to friendsabout going to the Caribbean
islands, then they startspitting out all the islands
they want to go to, like CaymanIslands, jamaica, haiti, puerto
Rico, turks and Caicos, bahamas, just to name a few.

(03:09):
I don't know if you realizethat there are 26 Caribbean
islands, but we keep findingourselves in the same top six.
We always dream about stayingin that fancy five-star hotel on
the island.
Oh, yes, we need that five-starocean view.

(03:32):
Immediately after making thedecision that we are going to
work towards that big dreamsummertime vacation, we begin to
prepare.
The first thing we do is startsaving additional money for the
biggest summertime vacation ofour dreams.
Next, we start working on thatbody.
We take a deep look atourselves and begin to assess.

(03:57):
We need to tighten up thosethighs, tighten up that butt.
Make sure those breasts arepopping for all to see.
Tighten that waistline.
Start on that winter diet, watching those carbs and
drinking more water.
Increase daily exercise timeand, as a black woman, you must

(04:23):
make sure your hair is on pointso we ensure we get that hair
braiding appointment made wellin advance of us leaving.
Now that we have created a hotbody plan, we move on to
selecting our destination forthe big dream vacation.

(04:44):
Everything in the big dreamvacation must be five star.
So of course, we booked a firstclass flight to the island and
with a five star transportationpacket, including a driver.
After taking care oftransportation, we need to

(05:04):
secure the five-star lodging.
Should we book the Rick'sCarton Hyatt Intercontinental
Four Seasons Resort, amberGreasy Cay Private Island Resort
or the Kempton Seafire Resortand Spa?
So many choices, seafire Resortand Spa.

(05:32):
So many choices, but we need toensure that I get all my
amenities and more.
Next, we check the area forthose five-star vacation
activities like sailing on ayacht, parasailing, scuba diving
, tours of the island, wineryvisits and, oh yes, don't forget
to hit the casino.
We don't have a budget becausethis is our big summertime

(05:57):
vacation and money is no problem.
We must have our five-starfriends to join us on this 10 to
14 day vacation.
So whoever we invite, they aregetting a free trip.
They just need to come, jump onthat private plane and get here

(06:18):
.
Of course, sharing is caring,so we must invite our friends,
the ones that have been with youthrough the difficulties of
everyday life, like when youlost your job, when you met Mr
Right and had to let Mr Right go, mr Right and had to let Mr

(06:42):
Right go.
These friends understand thistrip is for grown adults.
No discussion of children, lovers or bills on this big
dream five-star vacation.
They are the friends who allowyou to be unapologetic about
your actions.
We are doing grown peoplethings on this vacation.
We are staying out late untildawn and once we get up we are

(07:09):
reloaded for the next day's funand activities.
At the end of this vacation itis required that we leave the
same way.
We arrived on this big dreamvacation Five star.

(07:29):
Wait a minute.
You realize it was just a damndream.
Hell, I can't afford a fivestar vacation.
Turn off that damn alarm clock.
What was I thinking or dreamingregarding working on my body

(07:52):
for a vacation.
I may not have that hourglassbody anymore, but I am happy and
healthy.
Plus, where am I going to findtime, that extra time to go to
the gym, when I have children, aspouse, a job taking up all my
time?
The gym will have to get inline for my time because it's

(08:14):
not happening, for no summervacation.
Plus, I don't have any extramoney to put aside for a
vacation.
All that extra money cominginto this household is going for
daily needs and surely not formy dreams.
My children come first, so noadditional savings for that big

(08:38):
summer vacation.
The closest me or this family isgoing to get to a five-star
vacation is a local beach or oneof those fun park destinations
locally.
No five-star transportationover here.
We're going to use our vehiclesto get us to and from our

(09:00):
destination.
Once again, who has money tofly?
For a family of four people, the flights are over $4,000 for
the family, so no flying on thissmall wallet vacation.
No five-star hotel either.
We will accept lodging at somethree-star hotel like Holiday

(09:22):
Inn La Quinta, best Western, oneof those hotels.
If you pick the rightthree-star hotel, some of them
can even make you feel likeyou're on an economical version
of a five-star like you're.

(09:42):
On an economical version of afive-star, they'll have a pool,
a gym and free breakfast.
I'm not mad at that.
The three-star hotel is veryeconomical for families and
small wallet individuals.
Yes, the small wallet is real, especially for the lower and
middle class families.
We can do a lot of fun thingsjust like in the five star big

(10:03):
dream, but just a little smallerversion.
For example, we can go sailingjust not on the yacht, but a
dolphin excursion, where theywill tell us all about the
wonderful things about the oceananimals and island life.
It may not be the fanciest, butit's adorable.

(10:27):
Yes, I must even take thosechildren with me, because who's
going to keep my children forseven to ten days?
Nobody, not even grandma.
She ain't doing it.
So my summer vacation justturned into a three to five day

(10:47):
family vacation.
I really need to stop havingthese big assass dreams and live
in my reality of the smallwallet Now don't get me wrong
with the small wallet vacation.
It's not bad, it's fun, evenwith the children.
They won't ever forget thevacation or the family time

(11:10):
together.
They're going to tell theirstory of the vacation to all
their friends.
I'm okay with the small walletvacation because I'm with my
family.
Why do big dreams make us smile?
It's because in our dreamseverything is perfect and it
meets all our requirements, wants and needs, which put a

(11:34):
smile on our face.
I'll keep dreaming about a bigsummertime vacation.
I will certainly see the bigdream vacation come true, just
as I dreamed.
If you are still waiting, likeme, on that big dream vacation,

(11:55):
don't give up.
Keep dreaming and keep workingtowards all your dreams.
