Speaker 2 (00:30):
Welcome to a Queen's
Opinion.
My name is Queen, my voice, myopinion and your listening ears.
This episode is called Showersvs Baths.
Does it matter which processyou use to clean your body?
What is a shower?
(00:52):
It is defined as to washoneself in an enclosure in which
a person stands under a sprayof water to wash.
Let's talk about showering fora moment.
When you take a shower, youstep inside the enclosure and
turn on the shower head to getyour body all wet.
(01:12):
You're going to use some typeof cleaning product for your
body, get a little soap, whetherit's a bar of soap or a creamy
body wash soap.
You're going to leather up thatwashcloth or scrunchie in the
shower.
Water is still falling and youbegin to scrub your face,
(01:33):
working all the way down yourbody, starting with the face,
ears and neck.
If you're a woman, you're goingto lift up those breasts to
wash underneath.
Next, make sure you wash thosearmpits yes, wash them good.
Move down the body, scrub yourstomach and go on down the body,
(01:59):
hitting all the importantregions between your legs.
I was growing up.
Mama said you want to wash andclean front to back, start with
the public area, move to theouter and inner lips and finally
to the anus area.
Continue moving down the bodyto the thighs, knees, calves.
(02:21):
To the thighs, knees, calves, ankles and feet, and please make
sure you clean those bunions.
Take your washcloth and getbetween the toes and the bottom
of your feet.
Finally, this full showerprocess is completed within 10
to 15 minutes.
(02:43):
A shower is a quick process forcleaning your body when you need
to get somewhere very quickly.
So you take a shower.
There's nothing wrong withshowers.
Yes, you are going to be cleanwhen you get out of the shower,
but you are only getting the toplayer off.
(03:03):
No deep cleaning of the body.
You're getting the top layeroff of your body and that's good
.
Yes, it's good.
I'd rather you get the toplayer off than no layers at all.
I hear all the shower takers outthere saying when you take a
bath, you are sitting in dirtywater.
(03:24):
Well, this has some truth tothe statement.
But first let me define what itmeans to bathe, which is an act
or process of immersing andwashing one's body in a large
container of water.
I agree with that up to acertain point.
(03:48):
You see, if you took a bathmore often, then you wouldn't be
sitting in filthy water anymore than you would be by taking
a shower.
When I grew up, my mother saidyou need to take a bath for a
good cleaning.
I didn't understand that untilI was around 10 years old.
(04:09):
Cleaning I didn't understandthat until I was around 10 years
old.
I realized when you take a baththe water is hitting spots on
the body that shower water maynot reach well, like the inner
lips and anus area.
Yes, we wash all the same bodyparts, but the water.
It just hits differently.
Same body parts but the water,it just hits differently.
(04:30):
When you take a bath, oh baby, when you take a bath you run
that water in the tub with somebubble bath, like fresh sake
bath, honest, sensitive bubblebath, deep steep lavender bubble
(04:54):
bath, dr Teal's foaming sleepbath or whatever bubble bath you
like.
To me, getting in the tub withthe bubbles is getting the top
layer of dirt off, just like theshower.
When you sit in that water itfeels good.
It wakes up your whole body, the body starts to wake up and
you feel a little tingle throughyour body.
Your arms, legs and hands evenfeel different in a bath.
(05:20):
You take in the smells from thebubble bath fragrance, listen
to the smooth jazz music on yourfavorite song or your favorite
movie in the tub.
I like watching a little TV orlistening to a book and, yes, I
may even listen to our podcast.
(05:41):
But sitting in that water is sorelaxing and removes stress
from the day and removes stressfrom the day.
As you begin to relax in thatwarm bath, your pores begin to
open up and release all thatdirt from within your body.
You begin the process ofwashing your body from the top
(06:03):
of your head to the bottom ofyour feet, but in a slower, more
relaxing process.
Does this sound relaxing?
I understand the shower takersout there saying, nope, sitting
in dirt is not relaxing.
I will offer up this example ofsoaking in water.
(06:35):
I'm sure many of you may havepedicures done on your feet.
Let's take a minute to look atthe process from a bathing
standpoint.
When you go for a pedicure, thefoot technician lets your feet
sit in water for a few minutesaround three to five minutes,
because it softens skin and openyour pores.
The dirt layers on your feetbegin to fall off.
The foot technician then scrubsyour feet to remove all the
(07:00):
dirty layers.
Once the technician has removedthe dirt from your feet.
Your feet are given a rinse offfrom the dirty water.
Your feet are dried off andmoisturizers are applied to the
feet.
The process of a pedicure issimilar to taking a bath for
(07:20):
your full body.
We sit in the tub to soften theskin, open our pores and let
the layers of dirt loosen andfall off through the process of
scrubbing from head to toe.
Then we rinse off and step outof the tub to dry our bodies and
apply a moisturizer.
Does it matter which processyou use to clean your body?
(07:45):
Not really.
We accomplish the overall goal, which is to clean our bodies.
It comes down to a matter ofpreference and time.
If you're okay taking a showerfor a quick cleaning of the day
so you can move on to the nextthing, fine, then have a shower
(08:07):
and move on to the next thing, fine, then have a shower.
The shower offers you a quickcleaning and saves you time in
the process.
If you want a deeper cleaningof the body and time to relax
and think about the day you hador the day coming up, you might
want to take a bath.
The bath offers you a want totake a bath.
(08:28):
The bath offers you a deepercleaning of your pores.
Yes, the bath is more timeconsuming, but the overall
benefits are better than theshower, or at least in this
queen's opinion.
I want to end this episode witha challenge.
Here is the challenge.
(08:49):
I want you to take your showerfor three days in a row, then,
the next three days, take yourbath and on the seventh day, ask
yourself a few questions likedid I feel different after my
bath?
Did my mood change after thebath?
Did my perspective changeregarding the baths?
(09:17):
Would I incorporate baths moreoften in my daily cleaning of
the body?
I hope you walk away with abetter understanding of the
differences between the twooptions.
If you take my challenge, thensend me an email, a text or a
message on Instagram with yourresponse.
