Speaker 2 (00:35):
Welcome to a Queen's
Opinion.
My name is Queen, my voice, myopinion and your listening ears.
My voice, my opinion and yourlistening ears.
This episode is called Kindness.
What is kindness to you?
Have you ever heard the oldsaying this person has a kind
(00:57):
heart.
What does that mean exactly?
Having a kind heart, what iskindness to you?
According to the dictionary, kindness is the quality of being
friendly, generous andconsiderate.
When I think of a person asbeing kind-hearted, it means
(01:18):
that they have done somethingfor another person without being
prompted to or asked to dosomething for someone.
This understanding leads usback to having a kind heart.
Someone who is kind-hearted isa person that's going to go the
extra mile for someone else.
(01:41):
They have a feeling of love forothers and want to show their
understanding, sympathy, empathyand love for that person that
needs kindness in theirsituation.
The dictionary gave us fourwords to describe kindness
(02:01):
Quality, friendly, generous andconsiderate.
To fully understand thisdefinition, we must understand
the four words used to describekindness.
First, let's start with quality.
When I think of the wordquality, I think of the
(02:22):
substance that make up a personor product, for example, the
quality of dresses, pants, cars, shoes and even your house.
When we go to purchase thesetypes of items, we think about
the quality of the products usedin the creation of it.
(02:43):
The last thing we want to do ispurchase a lemon.
You know the dressed up, prettyitem, but underneath, when you
get down to it, it's just apiece of junk.
Yeah, that's the lemon.
It's a lemon because it leavesa sour taste in our mouth
(03:07):
regarding that product and eventhe merchant you purchased it
from.
So I seek out quality friends.
Well, how do you seek outquality friends?
You must ask yourself are you aquality friend?
If yes, then you can measureothers against your quality as a
(03:29):
friend.
In the dictionary it saysquality is the standard of
something as measured againstother things of a similar kind,
the degree of excellence ofsomething, of excellence of
(03:53):
something.
Take me as an example of thisconcept.
I consider myself a qualityfriend because I make myself
available to help others, listento others, offer suggestions,
give gifts of kindness.
In my actions towards others, Iknow if my friend needs a
prayer, I am praying with themand for them.
So for me to consider you afriend of quality, you must
(04:17):
measure up against me and myother quality friends in my life
.
Next let's discuss friendlinessitself.
According to the dictionary, friendly means kind and pleasant
, pleasant, giving a sense ofhappy, satisfaction or enjoyment
(04:39):
.
If your friends bring youhappiness and enjoyment in life,
then consider them friendly inlife.
Then consider them friendly.
When you are with your friendsand you can sit around and talk
about anything that's happeningin your life or in the world as
a whole and you can find joy inthat conversation and you are
(05:00):
laughing and smiling, then youhave a good friend.
A good friend is going to showyou there is goodness, happiness
and peace at the end of anytough situation.
They're going to show you thatit may look bad right now, it
may feel bad right now, but whenwe work through this situation
(05:25):
we are going to have the lastlaugh and a glass of champagne
honey to top it off.
Your friend is going to showyou life has more to offer than
sadness on a rainy day.
Up next to discuss is generosity.
According to the dictionary, generosity is showing a
(05:48):
willingness to give more ofsomething, such as money or time
, than is strictly necessary orexpected.
Have you ever received morefrom a person than you expected
from them?
Let's say, for example, one ofyour friends offered to babysit
(06:10):
for you so that you can attendan important meeting or event.
Or maybe your child was up foran award at school and a friend
donated money, time, clothing orfood for the event and you were
not expecting them to do thaton your child's behalf.
(06:31):
Or could it even be somethinglike your children gave you a
gift that you never thoughtwould be given to you by anyone.
Maybe your child took you outfor lunch or dinner at one of
the most expensive restaurantsin the city and it was not
(06:51):
planned.
These are acts of generosity.
When someone is giving more ofthemselves to you through their
acts of generosity than youexpected to you through their
acts of generosity than youexpected.
We need to thank these peoplein our lives and return the
generosity.
Lastly, let's break down beingconsiderate.
(07:13):
This is a word that we need topractice more in our daily lives
.
According to the dictionary, being considerate means being
careful not to causeinconvenience or hurt to others.
Sometimes we can hurt otherswith our words and our actions.
We are not being considerate ofhow it may make the other
(07:37):
person feel.
We have called people out theirnames, which is not considered
nice by anyone.
We have said things aboutothers that have caused them
hurt and shame.
We have been late to placesthat we have been invited to,
causing an inconvenience for theperson hosting the event.
(08:00):
Because you were late, they mayhave delayed what was happening
and you never considered theact of your consequences.
Overall, there are four types ofkindness according to
everydayhealthcom.
One kin kindness, or being kindto your family.
(08:22):
Two mutualism, or being kind tomembers of your community.
Three reciprocal altruism, orbeing kind to those you'll meet
again.
Four competitive altruism beingkind to others when it enhances
your status.
We all have used these types ofkindness in our everyday walk
of life.
Being kind to others when itenhances your status we all have
(08:45):
used these types of kindness inour everyday walk of life.
Kindness should be natural forus to do and we should never
feel forced or obligated to bekind.
It should be part of our natureto want to be kind to all that
we interact with in life.
Kindness is one of thosequalities that, without even
(09:12):
thinking about it, youautomatically start out with
kindness towards another person.
It is only when we have beenhurt that our kindness turns
into something else, that ourkindness turns into something
else.
We choose to be kind or we canchoose to be unkind to another
person.
I choose to be kind because Iwant to be treated with kindness
(09:35):
.
Therefore, I treat others withkindness.
You never know how treatingsomeone with kindness may give
them another opinion about you.
Being kind to someone else canchange their day around and you
can impact them and show themhow to be kind and in turn, they
(09:57):
may show kindness to someoneelse.
What is kindness to you?
Is it someone doing somethingfor you that makes you think
that person is kind, or is itthe actions that the person does
for you or towards you thatdeems them kind?
Can you be kind just by wordsspoken from your mouth?
(10:20):
Can you just be kind by actionstowards another?
Is kindness a word of action?
The dictionary says kindness isa noun, and we all know that a
noun is a person, place or thing.
So can kindness be a verb, verb, a word used to describe an
(10:44):
action?
I am not an English teacher, honey, and I am not here to
teach anybody about grammar.
I am here to just ask questionsand provide an opinion.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
For me, kindness is
everything the dictionary says
it means which is that kindnessis the quality of being friendly
(11:24):
, generous and considerate.
