Hello and welcome to today's episode.
I'm your host, amy, and todaywe're diving into something
that's been on my mind a lotlately the concept of surrender.
You know, there's this momentin life when you realize that,
despite your best efforts, things just aren't going the way
you planned.
It's like you're running anever-ending race, trying to
keep up with everything familywork, personal goals and it's

(00:21):
exhausting, isn't it?
I've been there, juggling abusiness, family, homeschooling
the kids and trying to make itall work.
I hit a point where I realizedsomething had to give.
That's when I stumbled on thispowerful idea the need to
surrender.
It's not about giving up.
It's about learning to let goof the reins just a little and
trusting that things will workout.
In this episode we're going toexplore what it means to

(00:43):
surrender, how it can transformyour life and practical ways to
embrace this journey.
I'll share my personalexperiences and insights and
we'll wrap up with a summary andaction steps to help you start
your own journey of surrender.
So let's get into it.
Let's start with the topic ofcontrol.
For as long as I can remember,I've thrived on structure, to-do

(01:04):
lists and schedules.
There's this sense of securityin knowing exactly what's going
to happen, when it's going tohappen and how it will all play
out.
Sound familiar.
It's comforting, right?
But here's the catch Lifedoesn't always stick to our
plans.
Reflecting on my past approachto life, I was always the one in
control, or at least I tried tobe.
I managed everything, hatedasking for help and was always

(01:27):
trying to think 10 steps aheadand plan for every possible
outcome so I could be preparedand minimize surprises.
But this need for control, Istarted to realize, was taking a
toll.
It led to burnout, a loss ofjoy, and I was missing out on
the spontaneous moments thatmake life special.
So I began to wonder what ifthere's another way?
What if I could find a balancebetween planning and just being,

(01:50):
between controlling and lettinggo?
It's a scary thought,especially for someone who's
always held on so tightly, but,as I'll share in a bit, this
journey of finding a middleground has led to a
transformation that my body, mind and spirit so badly needed.
To explain this transformation, let's start with one of the most
important parts what I like tocall spiritual surrender.

(02:12):
What does that mean exactly?
To me, spiritual surrender isabout releasing the grip we have
on our lives and trusting in ahigher power, the universe or
whatever, aligns with yourbeliefs.
It's about acknowledging thatwe don't have all the answers
and maybe, just maybe, that'sokay.
The idea of surrendering to ahigher power like God was

(02:32):
incredibly challenging for me.
Here's the thing I've alwaysbelieved in God, but trusting
completely and letting Him takethe wheel was another story.
It's one thing to believe.
It's another to put that beliefinto action, especially when it
means stepping back.
But as I struggled with thisconcept, I realized something
crucial Spiritual surrenderisn't about passivity.

(02:53):
It's an active choice to let goof our insistence on dictating
every aspect of our lives.
It's about finding peace inuncertainty and learning to be
comfortable with not knowingwhat's next.
Embracing this idea, whichseemed almost crazy to a
list-making planner, wasn't easy, but it opened up a new way of
seeing and experiencing life.
Instead of trying to controleverything, slowly I started to

(03:16):
accept and flow with life'srhythms and that, my friends,
has brought so much more peace, joy and rest to a life that was
badly in need of those things.
I don't want to pretendsurrendering is, or has been, an
easy process.
In fact, I feel like this is agood time to bring up another
important aspect of the conceptof surrender.
In the process of trying to handover your life to your higher

(03:38):
power, you may become aware ofother issues you need to face.
For me, one of the issues Ineeded to address was self-worth
.
See, surrendering isn't justabout letting go of control.
It's also deeply tied to how wesee ourselves.
For the longest time, eventhough I believed in God and
understood his role as ourCreator, I struggled with
feeling worthy of his love, forgiveness, healing and mercy.

(04:02):
It's one thing to knowintellectually that we're loved
and worthy, and another tobelieve it and feel it deep down
.
This was a significantroadblock for me.
I realized that I couldn'tgenuinely surrender to a higher
power if I didn't trust in hislove.
And when it came down to it, Irealized that I didn't doubt
that God loved me, but that Iwas worthy of this love.
So I started to explore thisidea who am I to God?

(04:25):
This exploration wasn't justenlightening.
It was a crucial step in myjourney.
I discovered that while theworld often tells us we're not
good enough, maybe because wedon't meet certain standards of
success, don't look like thewomen on magazine covers or our
homes aren't picture perfectGod's message is strikingly
different.
He invites us to come to him, just as we are embracing us with

(04:47):
all our imperfections.
Surrendering to God or a higherpower, then, is about accepting
love and grace.
It's recognizing that our valueisn't based on worldly measures
, but on something far deeperand more profound.
It's about trusting that we'recared for and guided even in
moments when we feel leastdeserving.
This understanding transformedmy perception of surrender.

(05:09):
It's not a sign of weakness,but a profound acknowledgement
of our intrinsic worth in theeyes of the divine.
So this part of the journey wasabout breaking down the
barriers I had put up againstmyself.
Once I started to embrace myidentity in the eyes of the
divine, surrendering became lessabout giving up control and
more about stepping into a spaceof acceptance and love.

(05:31):
Finding your identity, feelingworthy or stepping into
acceptance and love may not bean issue you personally need to
deal with as you learn tosurrender, but I can almost
promise that you'll find ideasor barriers if you choose to go
through this life changingprocess.
But let's get practical now.
How do you actually practicesurrender in everyday life?

(05:51):
It's great to talk about theseconcepts, but putting them into
action is where the realtransformation happens.
I'd like to share some methodsthat have helped me and I think
they might help you too.
First, work on focusing on thepresent.
When you find yourself thinkingof the past or future, bring
your mind back to where you areright at this moment.
This is something that willtake practice, but it's so

(06:13):
important.
When you're fully present, you're not worrying about the
past or the future.
You're just here Now.
This moment is all we trulyhave, and when you embrace it,
you start to let go of that needto control everything else.
Next, accept things as they are.
This doesn't mean you don'tstrive for change or improvement
.
It means you recognize thatsome things are beyond your

(06:34):
control and you find peace withthat.
It's about distinguishingbetween what you can change and
what you need to let go.
Then there's the subconsciousmind and loving intention.
Our subconscious plays a bigrole in how we navigate life.
By setting intentions rooted inlove and peace, rather than
fear or control, we gently guideour subconscious in a new
direction.

(06:54):
It's about shifting ourinternal narrative from one of
struggle to one of acceptance.
Another key part of practicingsurrender I'd like to touch on
is to stop resisting the realityof your circumstances.
Often we cling to our idealizedversions of situations or how
we wish things were, rather thanfacing them as they truly are.
This tendency, though common, tends to lead us down a path

(07:18):
filled with frustration, painand even anger.
Instead, imagine thealternative letting go and
flowing with the current, trusting the journey, even when
we're uncertain about where theriver of life is leading us.
By surrendering to the flow, weoften find a sense of ease and
alignment with our surroundings.
This approach can lead us tounexpected places, but these are

(07:38):
often where we find what wetruly need.
Embracing life as it unfoldsrather than how we insist it
should be, allows us to movethrough life with a more
peaceful and accepting heart.
And finally, the last thing Iwant to suggest is being open to
outcomes without being attachedto them.
This is about letting go ofspecific expectations and being

(07:59):
open to whatever comes your way.
It's about trust, trusting thatyou can handle whatever happens
.
It doesn't mean that you don'tmake a plan for the future, but
that you stay flexible and takelife as it comes.
These steps aren't always easy, but they are worth it.
They've helped me find a senseof peace and balance I didn't
know was possible, and I believethey can do the same for you.

(08:21):
Now let's talk about whathappens when you start to
practice surrender.
For me, it was like seeing lifewith fresh eyes.
When you stop trying to controlevery little thing, you open
yourself up to new perspectives, experiences and even joys.
Being fully present and notfixated on a specific outcome
allows you to appreciate life asit unfolds.

(08:41):
It's like looking at the worldthrough a new lens.
Things that once seemedstressful or overwhelming take
on a different light.
You start to notice the beautyin the small moments, the
lessons in the challenges andthe opportunities in what seemed
like setbacks.
This shift in perspectivedoesn't mean that life becomes
perfect or that challengesdisappear, but it does mean that

(09:03):
you approach them differently.
You're more resilient, moreadaptable and more open to
finding solutions that you mightnot have considered before.
For me, embracing life in thisway has meant a deeper
appreciation for myrelationships, a more creative
approach to my business and agreater sense of peace and
contentment.
It's about enjoying the journey, not just striving for the

(09:23):
destination.
This is something I encourageyou to try.
Start looking at your life froma different perspective.
Let go of the need for aspecific outcome and just be
open to the experience.
You might be surprised at howmuch more enjoyable and
fulfilling life can be.
As we wrap up this episode, let's summarize what we've
covered.
We talked about the strugglewith control and how letting go

(09:45):
can lead to a transformativejourney.
We explored the concept ofspiritual surrender and how it
relates to our sense ofself-worth.
We discussed practical stepsfor embracing surrender in our
daily lives, like focusing onthe present moment and accepting
things as they are, and we sawhow surrendering can lead to
viewing life with fresh eyes, bringing new joys and resilience

(10:05):
.
Now here are a few action stepsto help you start on this path
of surrender.
First, try to focus more on thepresent moment in your daily
life.
It could be as simple assavoring your morning coffee
without distractions.
Second, practice acceptancewhen something doesn't go as
planned, instead of stressing, take a deep breath and see what
you can learn from the situation.

(10:26):
Finally, set intentions thatare rooted in love and peace,
not fear or control.
These small steps can be thestart of a powerful journey of
transformation.
Thank you for joining me today.
I hope this episode has givenyou some insights and
inspiration to start yourjourney of surrender.
It's a path worth exploring andI'm excited to see where it
takes you Until next time.

(10:47):
Take care and remembersometimes the most powerful
thing you can do is to let goand trust the journey.
