On this episode of A-Squared Ramblers, hosts Alex and Adriana swap stories from the weird, in-between season where Halloween candy, gloomy weather, and treadmill miles all collide. Alex kicks things off with his company run club (now happening in pitch-black post–time-change evenings), talking safety, dark park paths, and why solo runs hit different when the trees turn into silhouettes. That flows into gym culture, peak hours at a small-town gym, and how “bro nods” and gym buddies can change the whole workout vibe.

Adriana then shares a fiery twist on home fitness: the gorgeous NordicTrack rower she swore she’d use more, only to find out there’s a recall because some of the screens have reportedly been catching on fire. From standby mode anxiety to scheduling a tech visit before any fees kick in, they talk about the not-so-fun side of “smart” equipment.

From there, it’s all about Halloween and Nevada Day colliding in the best (and saddest) ways. Adriana recounts dressing up in axolotl onesies with her goddaughter, only to notice how neighborhood trick-or-treating has dwindled thanks to trunk-or-treats and organized events. That leads into a wild story about stolen chip baskets at work, suspected snack bandits hitting the Veterans Resource Center pantry, and how a few greedy people can ruin generous setups for everyone else.

The episode wraps with a look at extreme weather warnings - from Nevada wind advisories and jam-packed marina events to Tennessee tornado watches and the foggy Elko flight that got diverted three days in a row. Alex recalls ignoring everyone’s “don’t drive” advice and still making it safely through mountain passes, while both hosts talk about how unpredictable, fast-changing weather keeps everyone guessing. They close by teasing some “exciting and fun” life updates coming next episode. So, listeners are officially on notice to tune back in.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
