Dharma Talk - The "P" in "Pandemic" stands for Preparation

The pandemic was a new, exciting change at one point very early on. The possibilities were unique and refreshing, despite the terribleness that came along with COVID-19.

Many of us, including myself, have fooled ourselves in thinking that the pandemic was something of the past, forgetting that many of us in Canada are currently in a lockdown just as restricting as almost two years ago.

This may make the pandemic sound like it's never-ending, but I'm here to emphasize quite the opposite -- that the opportunities that the pandemic had (and still has) to offer, are available for a limited time only.

More importantly, however, is the fact that many essential functions of society will be requiring a massive void to be filled once we return to normalcy. This will entail intense energy and enthusiasm from those working in these positions. Before we know it, the pandemic will be over and many of us will be called upon to work harder than ever to fill this void.

This is why I am coining that the "P" in "Pandemic" stands for Preparation. Now is our time to prepare for the aforementioned return to normalcy. This means rest and recovery. Because among all the negative that the pandemic brings us, it also offers us a very rare chance to deeply rest and recover.
