Speaker 1 (00:17):
There we are.
Welcome to the Ag Bowl Media AgBowl Trading Podcast Week in
Review.
We got a special guest here, mrie dickerman jamie's with the
red river farm network, and he'sgot a great lineup of things we
want to talk about.
It was a wild week.
We won't waste any time.
We'll bring him in the show.
There he is.
Let's have a hard time clickingthe buttons tommy, great to be
(00:38):
here with you.
Thanks so much for thisopportunity absolutely well, I'm
here in nashville, nashville, tennessee, here at the nesvik
trading office, and I'm here inNashville, nashville, tennessee,
here at the Nesvick TradingOffice and we're here in the Egg
Bowl podcast room.
You are in the beautiful areaof Grand Forks, north Dakota.
We'll start off with thosestorms.
Last week you had some horriblestorms.
How are we doing on the cleanup, james?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
It was extremely,
extremely.
It's one of thoseonce-in-a-lifetime type
situations, tommy, with thatstorm that came through the
derecho they actually officiallycalled it that now and it
spawned a bunch of tornadoes.
Actually, we had somefatalities, unfortunately, in
the state, so it was very, veryserious.
It came in late Friday, earlySaturday morning and a lot of
(01:22):
damage, a lot of crops damaged.
We don't even have a fullnumber on that yet, but the real
issue is going to be with thebins and with the storage that
was destroyed.
We had elevators destroyed insome of the communities, lots of
grain bins destroyed too, andso that will not be able to be
(01:43):
replicated by the time harvestcomes around, obviously.
So that's going to be someproblems up here when it comes
down to it.
Yeah, that's.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
it Just broke my
heart.
I think we had some picturesloaded up of those storms.
I think here's one from lastyear Tornado straight ahead of
us now crossing the road.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Multiple tornadoes
touched down Friday night as a
derecho ripped through hundredsof miles of North Dakota, with
damage stretching from Montanato Minnesota.
At least three people have beenkilled as a result of the
tornadoes near Enderlin, northDakota.
Wind gusts as high as 106 milesper hour were reported Massive
tornado.
The National Weather Servicewill be sending out survey crews
to assess the damage over thenext few days.
(02:23):
Will be sending out surveycrews to assess the damage over
the next few days.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Well, the real movie
twister hit North Dakota,
minnesota, and times are tough, and the last thing we needed was
to get a bunch of bins lookinglike old pop cans tossed around.
A lot of damage out there, jamie.
I hate to see that.
So we're definitely losingspace or have lost space.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Be interested to see
what happens with your bases
coming in the fall here on thosecash markets.
That's exactly it, and thatthat's that's going to be.
The real issue is what's goingto happen there?
Uh, because, like you said, uh,there's so much damage and we
don't even know the extent of ityet, because, you know, we keep
getting more information everyday about different things that
we're finding and, uh, you knowit was just and we have more
chances of storms appearactually now again here this
weekend.
So I've heard that I've heard.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
I thought I saw Reed
Timmer said he was going back to
North Dakota and everyone'slike hey, bro, stay out of here.
We don't want your mysterymobile, your Scooby Doo tornado
mobile.
Well, that's pretty crazy.
All right, let's talk theoptimistic side.
I don't know if you've looked,but the stock market's
absolutely exploding Dow Jones,s&p, nasdaq, all real close to
(03:30):
all-time highs or at all-timehighs I've lost track because
they are just absolutely on fire.
I don't know what to say aboutit, but the world didn't end if
someone had taken money out oftheir 401k, because the tariffs
and everything else.
Oftentimes, oftentimes I'm justgoing to say my own opinion.
You have your own people thing.
With president Trump, theworld's going to end and, uh,
regardless of who's president, the world usually doesn't end.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Is that correct,
absolutely A hundred percent
correct?
And uh, there's always the uh,the sky is falling mentality.
And you know I was funny, I was, I was chatting with a guy
actually today, you know, and uh, and we were talking about, you
know, markets and how themarket headline, how the
headlines have just been.
You know, I mean, there'sthat's always been an issue with
the markets, but it seems likenow more than ever, the markets
(04:15):
are chasing the headlines, youknow, and I was talking to the
guy and basically saying, youknow, I think they're looking at
the headlines and not evenreading the story, because they
don't.
You know, there was a lot oftalk about this China deal and
then it turns out it's rareearth materials we're talking
about.
I mean, it's a good thing thatwe're making a deal with China.
It's a good thing that we'remaking a deal with China and
it's a good thing that we'remelting that iceberg a little
(04:36):
bit.
But you know, what does it haveto do with ag?
Speaker 1 (04:40):
We don't know you
know, right now.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Right, yeah, that's
the problem.
It shouldn't really move theneedle, but you know, again
headlines.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Yeah, hey, speaking
of headlines, we're going to
have some breaking news.
Breaking news Monday Monday, 11o'clock, central breaking news.
What do we have coming outMonday, mr Jane?
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Oh, we got the big
acreage report coming out, man,
and that's going to be huge, that is, you know, and that's
going to cause some volatilityin this market.
You know, this report alwaysseems to this, one seems to
always be making a littlevolatility in this market.
So, as if we haven't had enoughof that, I think next week,
with the holiday week andeverything short week, whatever,
(05:21):
it could be a very interestingweek next week.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Yeah, I'm scared, but
I will say if you're worried
about the market dropping, jamie, maybe they've already dropped,
maybe you know, maybe could we.
Is it possible we go limit up?
Could the?
We're gonna live it up.
Can we go limit down?
Oh lord, we're gonna move.
You know it's the uh end of themonth, end of the quarter, big
reports.
You are right, people aregetting seriously in the holiday
(05:47):
mode, with uh the fourth beinglater in the week.
So I think we're gonna trade afew days.
We'll trade the report monday alittle bit t.
I think people pack up thestation wagon, get the heck out
of here if they can, right.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
I think that's a
great idea, you know, to get
away from it all a little bit, because it's been, uh, yeah,
it's been, it's been a lot.
There's been a lot in the newscycle here, the last, uh, I
don't even know, uh, what are wehere?
Uh, six, seven months, eightmonths, it's eight months.
It's been just a lot to keeptrack of.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah, Jamie, let's go
back a little bit.
I know who you are, but you'rethis first time on the Ag Bull
Media Ag Bull podcast and I wantto apologize.
I was rushed to get this going, but I got to give you a formal
welcome and you need tointroduce yourself to the good
folks here in the interweb.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Well, as you
mentioned, Jamie Dickerman, I'm
with the Red River Farm Network.
I've been here only about sixmonths.
I've been working here, butI've been in the ag news and ag
broadcasting industry for quitesome time.
I've been in the radio industry.
Now this is my 30th year, Beenin the media world for quite a
(06:51):
while, done just about any kindof job you could do in radio and
media and from you know, frommanagement to whatever and news
and all that.
So, but very happy to be hereand doing a full-time ag
broadcasting.
You know our tagline is, youknow, reporting agriculture's
business, and we're talkingabout the bottom line of you
(07:12):
know, farmers pocketbooks andhelping them make decisions, and
that's that's really cool.
So I'm glad to be here doingthat.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Well, pleasure to
have you on.
Wait till we tell Mr Don Wickwe don't need him anymore
because he's on the replacement.
Congratulations to our dearfriend Randy Cohn, whose last
day at the Red River FarmNetwork will be Monday.
If you know him or can get ahold of him, shoot him a text,
email.
Whatever Randy is, just he's alegend and he just loves
agriculture and I think, equallythe people of North Dakota,
(07:41):
minnesota, canada, south DakotaI think they love him too, right
.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Oh, the salt of the
earth guy.
And just you know, when you gosomewhere, everybody knows Randy
and everybody loves Randy.
If you know Randy, you loveRandy, and so it's going to be
tough coming in here every day, even though I've only been here
six months working with him, andit's going to be real.
There's going to be a big, abig hole without him in the
building.
But very glad, very happy forhim to enjoy some retirement.
(08:07):
He deserves it.
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Okay, before we wrap
up, do you have any news out of
DC, any more news about thefarms or money or anything else
here out of Washington, oranything good?
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Well, the big,
beautiful bill is, you know,
still on the table and thatthey're really trying to get
that done.
They want to get that to thepresident by the 4th of July,
that's.
You know, it's prettyoptimistic on their part to do
that, but they want that tohappen.
In fact, the House SpeakerJohnson has said you know what,
make sure your plans areflexible for the 4th of July,
(08:40):
guys, because we're going toneed you possibly to come in.
So they want to try to get thisthing done and there's a lot of
good things in there.
We've been hearing from a lot ofag groups about that that
they're very happy about it.
Just, in fact, heard fromNational Cattlemen's Beef
Association.
Talked to some people thereyesterday and they're very.
They really want this thing toget done.
There's a lot of good taxprovisions and things in there
(09:02):
that they really like andthey're really pushing forward.
A lot of ag groups are behindthis and so I know there's a lot
of consternation about what'sin this, what's in this and
what's getting cut, and thenthere's a lot of division there.
But as far as the ag world goesand you're talking about, you
know what's in there a lot of agpeople are very excited about
the big, beautiful bill and veryhopeful that it will finally
(09:25):
get done.
So we'll just wait and see it's.
You know, if they're stillthere, they're going back and
forth on it big, beautiful billwho comes up with these names?
Speaker 1 (09:34):
All right, if folks
want to get a hold of you, I got
a little banner how they canget a hold of the good people at
