As only our second repeat guest, former Congressman, State Senator and business school and law school Dean Tom Campbell gives us great insights about how an understanding of economics and incentives can result in prosperity. Citing his teacher Dr. Milton Friedman's comment that You get more of what you subsidize and less of what you tax, Dean Campbell shows us how government has been subsidizing bureaucracy and poor results, and taxing productivity -- to everyone's loss, except the bureaucrats. He further states persuasively that the FDA, which slows down and makes much more expensive the process of developing and distributing medicines, should be reformed by allowing it to ban medicines that are found not to be safe, but allow us as customers to decide if they are effective. He also makes a persuasive case that we should change from an income tax to a value-added consumption tax. (Tax consumption instead of income!) Be sure to tune in, this good man has many great thoughts!
