So the lack Again episode of NewYears 1985.
We're back this evening. We're going to chat some music
here tonight. We have the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame 2025 inductees. We're gonna go over, we're going
(00:24):
to listen to maybe a couple, couple tracks, maybe listen,
listen to or list some of our favorite tracks and just, you
know, discuss a little bit of rock'n'roll.
Yeah, we're just going to generally figured out some of
these people. Like I know them and I know a
couple of songs by them and whatever.
But like I think we're gonna be because you're gonna get a
(00:47):
little bit of a live reaction, Ibelieve here tonight as well.
So I think you'll see a little bit of that happening here this
evening. Right, right on.
That's right. We're back folks, and the year
was 1985. Thanks everyone who's been
following along on Spotify. Any of our YouTube followers
love you as well. We can or you can check out all
(01:08):
the episodes on YouTube video and audio and uh yeah, make sure
you subscribe. Fucking get on that.
Shit, get on it. Irish crickets.
That in your hand there is Ding,Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.
Oh yeah, Irish crickets. If you don't know, now you know.
And if you're new here, I'm Sam.This is Ryan from Yeah, We were
(01:31):
everywhere that you could find podcasts checks out on our
social media as well. We do.
We do all kinds of fun stuff. So check this out.
It's cool. Yeah.
So this evening, yeah, we're gonna get into a little bit of
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2025 inductee list.
Check that out, see what's goingon.
So we'll pop up the little pop it up here a bit.
(01:52):
So we got some bad company to start it out with.
Absolutely. So, I mean, if you're going to
fucking play Bad Company, play the song bad.
Company. From the album.
Bad company, baby. The triple threat of names.
It is incredible. I love it best.
(02:13):
That is possibly the best name for everything you could have
done at one time. Possibly.
It definitely takes notice. You're like, oh, he's guys,
these guys are bad news. These are no, these guys are bad
company bad. Company.
Not only are they bad news, there are bad company.
Can you imagine somebody callingyou back Company that was more
insulting than a bad? Person think of how much think
(02:33):
of how stoked they were on the fact that like they had they had
this name. They call it like we we should
call ourselves bad company. Yeah.
This song, man, what do you think, man?
This song is. Deadly, isn't it oht yeah, so
it's gotta stick intro I wonder if this is essentially maybe try
not to let it go too crazy because they'll ban us from the
Internet if we. Maybe.
If we don't. If we don't.
(02:54):
They all know. We all know, but we'll leave it
out for a second and we'll come back to it.
Maybe a second here, but Bad Company, Bad Company, the song
Bad Company as one of the sickest intros that there is.
That's right, big old piano partand Duke and singing.
And it's pretty like there is a good tune, like it's a serious
(03:15):
tune. See here.
Come back in here and see what we get from here.
See. Look, we're not even in the sun.
OHP. Still still slow build.
This is what I mean 2 minutes in.
Can you imagine building brightness song now to be
unpopular? Like we're, we're at the point
(03:35):
now where people are stopping toplay like the songs.
Over so, yeah. I'm not and now the songs only
coming on. So this album, I'm not sure
exactly when it came out, I wanna say 1974, but probably
close, probably not 100% correct.
But anyway, I mean, they, they've had a long career and
they they're probably much well deserved.
(03:57):
Oh yeah, man. I mean, like, fucking dude
played with Queen like he was the singer of Queen for a long
time. Oh really?
Yeah. Paul Rogers?
Paul Rodgers. I mean yes, it is 70. 373.
Right. So like.
Back company 1974. Bang Bang on baby bang on.
You don't know. He's been out here looking
(04:17):
around like Straight Shooter 75.Look at the run up here. 3
albums, three years run with thepack.
These are all banging albums too, by the way, if you wanna go
check those out. Like yeah, Shooting Star,
Rock'n'roll Fantasy, Come home. That's crazy.
Like come on, feel like making love?
Like, are you kidding? Me absolute banger.
Yeah, like super classic rock, super, super quick.
(04:39):
And look at the spinoffs. Yeah, that's crazy.
Yeah. King Crimson.
Crimson too, yeah. And Queen and Paul, right With
Paul Rogers, Yeah. Yeah, and that was actually
really good, I'm not gonna lie. Like it was good boss put on
good shows. That's no doubt.
That's no doubt. Because they're rolling around
with that Adam Lambert guy. Right now, Yeah, yeah.
(04:59):
And I mean, that's wicked too. Like he's fucking mega singer.
He's pretty good singer. Yeah, there is.
Have you ever seen like off topic here already, but there
was a Queen cover guy on YouTubewho sounded identical.
Everyone was like you should be the new singer.
But yeah, check it out. I don't know.
(05:20):
I don't know his name off hand, but.
Well. YouTube.
If you're out there and you likeQueen, you probably already know
who the guy was. But anyway, yeah, yeah.
So who do? What do we got?
A little chubby. Chubby Checker Chubby Checker
is. Next.
He loved to do the twist and he loved to do the twist again,
baby. Don't tell him all about that,
(05:41):
no. Well, I mean, I thought it was
funny because of being his Best Song, I think, or most well
known for the twist, right? I mean, he created the twist.
I mean, he's an OG. He he deserves to be in the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame as well. But his second banger was less.
Let's twist again. So he was her on the twist.
Love. He was striking the goal.
(06:02):
He twisted. If anybody twisted this man
twisted. So that's a, you know, you're
throwing up back to the 50s there like he, he's an OG.
He is an OG. So throw him in the Hall of
Fame, folks. I agree.
I don't I don't disagree with this one bit.
I don't disagree with this one, but I'm totally I'm bored.
(06:24):
I'm totally on board with ChubbyChecker entry.
So who else we got, folks? Who else?
Checker Little Chubby Checker. Action but I mean.
Technically, he's definitely. That's from the beginning of
rock'n'roll. Like that's the beginning of
rock. And roll it is.
Yeah, it's. So can't knock Chubby, right?
Somebody got a better Joe. Cocker, Joe.
(06:44):
Cocker, Woodstock, baby. Fucking imagine.
Been doing this since Woodstock.I mean he's technically an OG.
He's a picture from Woodstock. He had an absolutely mind
blowing performance at Woodstock79 was it I guess. 1669 was. 69
Oh, there we go. And of course, of course, the
(07:10):
theme song for The Wonder Years too.
You know, yeah, that's right, too.
Yeah. Can you imagine that?
Was there was a commercial too? Now all of a sudden this flashed
in my brain. I don't even remember what it
would channel was on necessarily, but there used to
be a commercial with this song on it too.
And then what's the other one? It's a cover, I think.
Is it? I think he, I think it is.
(07:32):
Are we gonna be honest? I think.
Shall we Google eyes? Because it's a, it's a Beatles
thing, right? Isn't it not, man, Why would you
do that? Yeah, I guess.
Yeah, now you don't know. Now you're, yeah, fucking me.
Up here, but he fucking absolutely conquered this song.
(07:52):
This is the only version that matters.
So let's see. Hmm.
OK. Yeah, all.
Right Paul McCartney, Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
Who's? You know where oozy, You know
(08:13):
where he's from, He's from Liverpool.
He's from Liverpool. That's right.
That's so funny, right? Yeah.
But I mean, that's a classic. But this song, everyone thinks
of him. Joe Cocker.
Everyone thinks that's true. Contrary to the best.
Oh, I know, but you're going to get.
Banned from there. Gonna tap.
They're gonna. Be banned can't be banned from
(08:35):
the Internet. You know, where's the freedom?
Any Where's the freedom, folks? Well.
YouTube. You're using the corporations
time and money and I have paid them.
We did agree to the terms of service.
We sure did so, but you know, sometimes you gotta bite the
(08:56):
hand feed, hey or whatever. Sometimes you get your pee pee
slapped. Yeah, that happens, definitely.
Cyndi Lauper. Cyndi.
Lauper, The Rock and Wrestling Connection folks. 1985 MTV
Absolutely cornerstone in musical history and wrestling
history as well, which also led to WrestleMania one or Yeah.
(09:21):
Oh no. Whatever.
We're just shooting the shit here.
Folks should do what are we going to do?
Her true colours time after time.
What do you want here? We'll do time after time.
Sure. Yeah, because yeah, the other
one over this is a classic. Reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite
the movie. That's a good girl.
(09:42):
Oh. Shit.
Oh shit, oh shit, let's get intothe song here.
I could throw pigskin over thosemountains.
I could throw it a. Quarter mile.
I could throw the quarter mile Napoleon.
Shut up. That's so funny.
(10:02):
I haven't watched that. I want to watch that movie.
Never seen it a long time. Ohe yeah.
So this is like this reminds me like being a kid, you see this
around and you'd hear the song still and.
To me, it's like a radio song, radio song.
I would hear this on the radio. Long yeah.
I mean, I don't feel like Cindy Lauper is targeted to us so.
No, but Little Rock and wrestling connection.
The ANTV generation definitely deserving of Hall of Fame.
(10:27):
I think so, yeah. Yeah.
I mean, she's a legend. I mean, she's she's still done
current things and, you know, give her flattener and she comes
from like because even like thatwas like because the Madonna was
kind of just slightly after her and you know what I mean?
Like she's kind of one of those female icon cool.
Absolutely love it. Absolute.
Let's not a bad list this year. No, it's not fair so far, and I
(10:49):
don't really care too much to befair about it.
But you know what? I mean, I'm not going to
disagree really with anything because I appreciate all their
efforts in the musical industry. But now we're we're stepping
into the. Fucking now we're getting into
the heat here. Now we're getting into some
heat. But we're getting, so we're
getting into things that the podcast is all about.
There's a lot. Of what's happening here as
(11:10):
well. So but also now we can almost
compare these, OK, you know, we can we can talk after the fact,
after we go over these, we can maybe talk about someone who
didn't make it and we can compare it.
Maybe of the two deserving. Sure.
What do you think about Cass? So I gotta love it.
(11:33):
I mean, I love even talking about here.
Likely more preplanned. Dual CD fucking speak speak box,
Big Bang. Love that fucking album over
there on the desk, but I'm not gonna get up and go get.
It right, Yeah. I mean, is it cast?
I don't know. It's OK.
Like I don't know. That's just.
See what we can find here. That double album, Absolutely
(11:56):
legendary. Let's see, what do we get, like
bombs over Baghdad? OK, I'm gonna just play this a
little bit like come out banger.I don't know.
It's still like banger, but it'snot getting any deep.
We're not getting into a deep cut or nothing, but you know
what I mean. We're not going to deep.
I'm just throwing. It but this video is like super
(12:16):
early 2000s yeah, just you know what I mean?
Like what is this, 2001 or whatever this came out in?
You know, I mean that kind of thing, 2001, 2000. 2 So I mean a
relatively relatively. Good bands from.
There, I'm not gonna say new, but obviously not 1974 like Bad
Company, right? Yeah.
You know, like more closer to our generation.
(12:38):
Yeah, well, this is something from high school, right?
Like got the leg cramp? Man, I think I pulled my groin
just. Sitting here.
Welcome to 40. Yeah, this is 40.
That's it man, it's all about how your mind feels.
That's it, That's it. But.
This reminds me of high school, right?
Very much so. Came out like right before we
(12:59):
graduated with a couple years wegraduated kind of thing.
So like, I don't know. And hip hop was huge at the time
and everybody was kind of like dialed into it, you know what I
mean? Like everybody was listening to
a lot of stuff. So it would be no problem to go
to a party and this would be coming on or whatever just and
like the videos because it's still video time, right?
Like we're still in the in that time.
(13:19):
So like the video is cool. It was new at the time, like
these kind of videos from hip hop, rap, whatever were like
kind of becoming more and more and more what you'd always.
Be. Production, like more like
rock'n'roll stuff or whatever you want to say, right?
Kind of filling that hole too, right?
Like, yeah, super. I love it, love it.
And I like, I like their solo things even I like, yeah, I like
(13:43):
a lot of like I listen to the flute album.
That's one. That's 2002.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hell yeah. Man do.
Whatever, and why not? Yeah, do whatever man.
Like I don't, I don't like look at this loose nuts.
This is this is early 2. Thousands Superman like
strippers on a pole. Yeah, absolutely.
One of my fucking brains warped.Perhaps it's got something to do
(14:04):
with it? But I mean, what do you do?
Right. You know, big production rap
videos of early 2000s you could can't be beat.
No, like savage, like the videosare not.
They're wicked. Look, look, look at this.
Man, look at that. You got the low rider coming out
of the back in a fucking outcastcustom.
So cool truck right? Like bombing down the road.
This is sick. Absolutely.
(14:26):
Big big, big big ups to device. Yeah, yeah, big boy Andre 3000.
Like check out their solo stuff.Too many sick.
Everything's wicked. Love.
Everything is love. Big and they come from the 9,
the early 90s technically too. Like they got a bunch of
gangster rap albums kind of thing from the 90s and stuff
like that. Yeah.
Have you heard that stuff? Yeah, yeah.
And if you're a fan of Big Boy too, like I like his, he got
(14:50):
some stuff called Big Grams. Ohhhhh.
And man, this shit is that it's hard.
You gotta figure. Stereo System Boy.
Put that in the stereo. Yeah, they got tons of stuff.
Like, tons of stuff. Tons and tons of stuff.
Like look at this. Players ball.
Oh the players ball. Player haters ball.
(15:10):
Hate, hate, hate, hate. Look at the old TV and VCR like.
Don't just love it. Like look at this man, what a
time to be alive. Folks, this is what we're trying
to bring back. It's a little slow jam.
Some a couple slow jams, but OK.Little played Paul not not slow
(15:32):
down, but. Got the flakes.
Ohhhhh man. Atlanta wrapping Outland.
Off the chain. OK, I don't know.
That's about it. Yeah, we're only gonna get, say,
15 seconds, but apparently it's like, not even.
That no, you don't quite get there sometimes.
(15:52):
Depends on what you're up to. Oh, here we go folks.
Sound Garden. Are you kidding me?
Are. You can't even, I'm not even
going to click on read, read thebio, Let's see, what do we got
in here? They're just doing like one for
everybody. So their first album came out in
1988, which is I Was 3, right, Right.
(16:18):
And I didn't really, you know, get on the.
Didn't get here early. I wasn't, I wasn't even know I
wasn't in it for 3/3. I had to wait.
I had to wait until they have a few albums out, and by the time
I was watching Black Old Sun or Spoon Man and fucking Rusty Cage
and all those fucking songs on Much Music.
(16:43):
I like that. Yeah, I love that song.
You know, always been a huge fanof Chris Cornell.
Obviously, I know I'm gonna, I'mgonna hit, I'm gonna hit black
holes on though, because the video, mostly because of the
video. The video always stands out in
my mind because it was so different.
It was just like, what's going on here?
Like definitely is a attention grabber for sure with the
(17:06):
melting faces and the you know what I mean?
It's a strange, strange video. Yeah, like this one, Like let's
see here I get a little bit on that fucked up.
There we go. See.
Like, yeah, like this was like, so this is like to me is like
prime same thing, like Prime Video area prime, watch music,
(17:30):
prime MTV. Look at that one.
Yeah, Tender mother sick. But yeah, they've they've
definitely done and done enough obviously.
(17:50):
I mean the the work, the body work.
Is there enough to require and then?
Like all the accolades, all the albums sold, you know what I
mean? And then?
Pretty much the impact on the whole grunge, you know, seeing
itself and the whole grunge. Because they're like one of, you
know. They're one of the, they're one
of the four, right? The fucking Mount Rushmore of
fucking grunge. So you kind of have to, you
(18:14):
know, appreciate that, recognizethat, and give him give enough
flowers. Yeah, there were another man too
that I could say, um, like Matt Noble got me into it too.
Think about that. Yeah.
Yeah, because I know I had. Was it super unknown, right?
Yeah, super unknown. And that, like I said as well,
I'm pretty sure I've gone from him or whatever.
(18:36):
The other one of them anyway. Yeah, that was just a time early
time, man. So much, so much new music was
out on at one time, you know what I mean?
Like if you go back and look at the albums that came out in 93
or whatever, like so many platinum albums like.
You. Oh, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like the best and that we all
(18:56):
still listen to. Like, I mean, and and and it
was, hey, have you heard this? Have you heard this?
And like you said, you have people making the tapes and you
got, you know, like siblings andcousins and like, Oh yeah, you
know, check it out. I got this morning up at recess
and literally like I remember, like I said before, like when
Evil Empire came out, like it's just so cool, like the the way
(19:19):
that it was passed around back in the back in the times, just
word of mouth, right? I mean.
Yeah, and like magazines, because I was into like guitar
magazines and music magazines and stuff like that.
I remember sitting on the bus and I read, I think it was in
Guitar World or something, whatever, it was guitar related.
And it was an interview, of course, with Tom Morello and he
(19:41):
was like, yeah, Rage will be back.
We were kind of half working on something or whatever.
And I remember I was sitting on the bus and were going somewhere
and I was talking to Mitch and Iwas like, dude, I'm reading a
magazine. Like Rage is working on a new
album. Like that's the thing.
And then the Godzilla soundtrackcame out and they were on that
and I was like, it's happened. They're going to do it now.
No shelter. Yeah, and then they pulled.
(20:03):
Then what is it? Los Angeles came out and it was
like, holy shit, they're back. Like this is this, this is nuts.
And they put out two albums for everyone.
Yeah, I was gonna say, I mean, it was good, good in our area of
high school too, right in a lot of music and CD Pastor.
Went from the CD like tape to CDthing and then to Napster,
right, right. And then it was like, that was a
(20:23):
whole new knots man, like. It was like, yeah, every time
you could think of telling your friend you were there sitting at
a computer and you're like just typing it after and just wait,
you have to wait a bit to download it.
But well, yeah, but. Eventually we got cable modems.
Eventually. But yeah, I don't know, man.
I don't know. There was so much.
(20:44):
He's the kind of go like that was the thing.
I don't know if it was just likea fine to us or something, but
yeah, like this is like a reallybad right, of course.
Yeah, so to see them make it, toget recognized, being in the
Hall of Fame of Rock'n'roll, absolutely.
Well, super, well deserved. Shame that Chris Cornell's not
around. I mean, I don't think he would
care necessarily, but you know what I mean?
(21:06):
Still, for the average Joe, that's a cool thing or whatever.
He could probably be in inducteeeventually, you know, in his own
right. Oh.
Yeah, just as a solo, as as himself, like, yeah, recognize
Chris Cornell as a so as a human, just as a person, you
know, just. Yeah, I think, I think they
(21:26):
should look at it at the very minimum, like they definitely
should, because it's shame that it's not, you know what I mean?
But I mean, you know, it is whatit is.
But like, you could say that about a lot of people, I guess
in a way. But yeah, they're like part of
the big. They're part of the big deal of
the early 90s. Like they were one of the top
top 4 bands of Granger kind of thing.
Still are, typically. I mean, yeah, I don't know.
(21:48):
I don't listen to him all the time, but every time I hear him
like sick. Yeah, You know what I mean?
Like, yeah, you know, when I'm in that mood, I'm in that mood
and I'll throw it, throw in the album, throw in the CD in my
truck and just play. It's just like, yeah, yeah,
that's an early one, that one. I do.
I didn't have that on tape, too.I forgot all about that.
That's crazy. Last but not least.
(22:09):
Scroll down a bit or. Grow.
Old are we scrolling? Oh Lord, oh Lord, I've got too
little too far in a little too far.
O Absolutely impactful band. I know.
On your part, I know you're a huge Jack White fan.
Yeah, and The White Stripes. So.
Yeah, I'm like more Jack White, technically, like the stuff he's
(22:29):
done as Jack White. But I do like The White Stripes.
Like I do really like them. It's not.
They're not better than Jack White himself, I guess, or
whatever seems like, but to me at least.
But I know tons of people. I mean, they're huge.
So like if they could reunion tobe nuts, like people like Oasis,
Yeah, you know what I mean? But no, I mean, they're super
influential at that time becausethere was this kind of like
garage rock thing that came up right around the same time as
(22:54):
Ocast, technically speaking, like early 2000s, like mid
2000s. And then, you know, they got Jet
and all these kind of things that come out of that.
And yeah, they're a big deal. Like a lot of people were in
them, even in high school. Yeah.
You know what? I.
Mean, I think it's cool to. We did see a lot of the bands
(23:15):
and the lack of better word comeup emerge kind of through the
early 2000s. You never, you didn't quite know
who was going to kind of reign supreme of all those bands.
I think it's easy to see that Jack White and everything he's
done kind of sets himself along far and away above any of those.
You know, I like the Strokes arelike, you know, that the High or
(23:38):
whatever, like all those bands, like, you know, you know what I
mean? But they kind of just, it was
OK. They kind of got lumped into
that. Even though they didn't sound
like those bands, they did. These guys were doing their own
thing. Jack White was doing his own
thing. It was easy to see he was
something. He was a different.
He was a different person. Yeah, it took a different.
(23:58):
Even though there's only two of them, it did take a different
approach. Yeah.
Oh yeah. Getting done.
Yeah. Jack Curtis out.
He's definitely. Cutting us off.
For sure. I don't know.
I don't know if he's. Disabling the YouTube for sure
(24:18):
we're. Gonna find out.
I'm gonna test the limits of this now.
We're gonna just listen along. We're gonna find it even though
we're talking over it. Put down just enough you can
hear it. Turn down to and.
Different, super different in like the vibe of two people but
no bass player is. Interesting this works.
(24:40):
Yeah, I think it's cool. It's super cool and I really.
He's got the full band and stuffnow and yeah, does he play these
older songs? Yeah, he does like crazy.
Like his set list is not something like, I don't know if
you ever watched Glastonbury or something like that from I don't
know what year it is, 2000, whatever, 16 or something like
(25:01):
that, 1817, I don't know, something like that.
Anyway, whatever year it is. Couple of those are sick.
His new ones are nuts. Like it's mostly new stuff
because you got a bunch of albums out now and he doesn't
play a lot of the old stuff. But there is some really sick
footage of him from Glastonbury. And another leads maybe.
Yeah, yeah. These leads.
When you have, when you keep making good songs, you have a
(25:24):
big, such a large library, largecatalog to pick, pick from,
right. So, I mean, you could play for
four hours, I'm sure, but right. But yeah, man, do you remember
when he did that? They did this, you know, they
wanted to play in every provinceand territory in Canada.
So I was about to bring, yeah, it was about to bring this up.
So they played the shortest, shortest outdoor rock'n'roll
(25:47):
show or outdoor show or whateverit is, and against Book of World
Records in St. John's, I think it is, yeah.
Or Corner Brook or something or whatever.
It was, I think, yeah. Whatever in new OneNote whole
got all the way to airplane a note and left like mad because
when I lived in Halifax they were playing the secret show at
the Taco place and there's all these secrets around town that
(26:08):
were texting each other and calleach other from our cell phones
like old flip phones. Yeah, trying to figure it out
and I yeah. Yeah, Did you see it?
I didn't see him from the inside, but I was outside and I
knew the guy that worked at the door and I was kind of hanging
out there. Whatever, but yeah.
Yeah, still here. Yeah, well, I could see them
technically like, but it wasn't like.
(26:28):
In the. That wasn't really in there,
but. Peeking through your people.
Like the room was only fucking twice the size of this room.
Got in there three times becausepeople was like, look the door,
let me look in. He's like alright, gives a peek,
gives a peek. Bother getting beat up.
But have you ever seen Let me see.
Let me see what you looking at in.
(26:49):
There. Now it's over here.
We're not over there right anyway.
Anyway. That's one of the funniest,
that's right thing. But can you give me cocaine,
brother? I'll be a peeping Tom.
Oh really? I never.
I'll be looking at you, eat yoursupper or whatever.
(27:11):
He says stuff like that. Like it's so funny, man.
It's so funny cause he's a creeper.
So funny fuck. Don't deal, we're definitely
getting banned on YouTube now. Who cares?
See. Well, folks, if you don't want
to listen, if you don't want to watch on YouTube, you could look
it on we can. We'll be on Spotify.
It'll be on Spotify. We'll get it finished up for
that. We've had a hiccup with that
coming up here. Hey, I'm salt and Peppers here.
(27:31):
Most governments here we. Go what?
A Segway. What a segue.
What a segue in. Yeah, oh man, I heard a bag of
screen I wanted to put on the banger too now, but it's not it
wasn't salt pepper tune. So no, it's not gonna try to
keep they got. They got to try to keep it in my
mind. What's their hit?
Push it, Push it down there, down there.
(27:54):
Push it. Other than that I'm not really
sure, but these guys got inducted under under the musical
influence, so they got the musical influence award which
they got picked alongside of Warren Zevon.
Warren Zevon Yeah, that's prettyOK.
Fucking, you know, werewolf oht Yeah oh shoot oh shoot ohe ohe
(28:21):
do I know I I was literally like9 years old like watching a
video like. Oh my gosh.
Oh my Lord. Little slowly.
What's going on here? I kind of like this song.
I'm like, yeah, super. Duper probably on Dance Mix 90.
(28:42):
Whatever. Yeah.
Watch Dance 93. Probably.
Probably or four or two. Or whatever it is, it will
definitely turn this off or definitely get banned for that
if you keep that. But we can still put on the
visual though. Full screen.
Full screen. Full screen.
From the visual visual dupe, just give it a page.
You settle down now. You just put on the video.
(29:05):
Settle down. Now look at so you can just
imagine when we're like literally I'm, I want to say
this song came out 90, like 93. Easy.
Yeah, right. So we're fucking. 8 or 9.
Used to come out at the Lions Club.
Dance and we're watching TV justlike yeah.
This is this is good. This is good keeping on.
Nothing wrong with this. Loves it right?
(29:28):
But it's true though. But it was early.
Early. Like, I mean, you're just
watching TV. Early 90s stuff was like
everything was nuts like after 12:00 too.
Everything was fucking free gameafter that done.
You never knew. You never know what you.
You never know what you're goingto get.
Right, that was before Internet times.
But yeah, but some pepper got a couple of baggers, couple big
(29:49):
bangers, and they're super influential to hip-hop and
female hip hop early 90s. Strong, independent women.
Because you can see where this transition now too, you know.
Beyoncé. Don't know where it is.
It's got these guys look paved the way for Destiny's Child.
Everybody, really. Oh hell yeah.
Love it, Nicki Minaj, all those crazy people that are going on
now. Cardi B.
(30:11):
Spice. Spice Charlie XCX Yeah, you got,
you got, you know, Billy Oht. Like technically that's the
route. You know what I mean?
Like this is the path. That's the path.
They're early, they're super outis way more people than them
obviously, but they're early especially it's because they
became popular, right? That's the push, right?
Believe they had a cameo on Fresh Prince of Bel Air?
(30:32):
I believe so. They were hot, yeah.
Yeah, you know, they were commodity.
Yeah. That's what I'm saying.
Who got here? We'll, we'll change.
We'll, we'll transition to transit.
Evan, what do you wanna do? Where?
Wolves in London. My shit, my shit fucked up.
That sounds pretty. Good.
Rocked that. I don't even know what this.
(30:52):
Is I never heard this one but noI hope it's good.
It's going to be really shitty if you don't say my shit fucked
up at. Least at least the first words.
OK, he's still giving us a little taste.
Did he with that old Gibson isn't right?
I don't know, looks like Washburn.
(31:13):
What does that say? The headstock shape is skips,
just look at that old riding on.Yeah, it is.
Yeah, I think it is another. See it full screen?
Give me that full screen, warns Eva.
He got the, he got the licks. He keeps leaning like he's gonna
sing it. That's right.
(31:36):
Oh God, he shit his shit. This shit fucked up.
Son, your shits fucked up. That here we definitely better
front of them. Oh yeah, because Oh yeah, for
sure. That's alright.
(31:57):
We're proud of you. You got in the musical
influence, so big influence because he.
Definitely influenced. The thing is, we're watching it
on YouTube and we're gonna get banned by YouTube.
Yeah, YouTube. Yeah.
But he influenced the Kid Rock that song all summer long.
That was a copy of Werewolves ofLondon and that, yeah, I'm not
(32:23):
sure if that came out before Sweet Home Alabama or not, but.
I know he was on a roll of like, stealing songs ever a bit.
He was just kind of like, well, I'm just gonna.
Yeah. It's gonna.
But like Sweet Home Alabama or Werewolves of London, not sure
which one of those 2 came out first because those are awfully
similar. Yeah.
Kind of cut. But I like but I know what you
(32:46):
mean. Yeah, I like Warren Zevon's.
Where is the London cause? It's more like swing thinking.
Well, let's show to. People and he's got the the
piano right and and but more andmore, Sweet Home Alabama is more
like the guitar picking to do. Yeah, I know what you mean.
Yeah, so it's basically just thesame little chord progression I
(33:07):
saw. Can't help that way, but nobody
said that. Werewolf with a Chinese menu in
his hand. Ohta opener, though.
That's what, an opener I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in
his hand. Books deal.
(33:31):
Help. He's having a laugh.
O this is always been a staple on our Halloween episodes.
So if you scroll back to any of we have three Halloween episodes
because we have a Part 1, Part 2.
(33:53):
That's true. Yeah, we always feature.
A little bit. Where was especially the very
first? The very first Halloween one
was, yeah, wild. One that was a wild 1 and that's
kind of what it's about. That's right.
That's why. That's life.
(34:15):
That's life. We gotta get a little pad for
you to fucking be able to whack those buttons.
Here, do this. Who else?
We got little drum machine. What do we got going on here?
So we got a bit of Tom Bell, we got Nikki Hopkins, Nicky
Hopkins. Now this is one of your your SO.
When you introduced me to tonight.
Care. OK.
Have legendary this woman was. Buddy, let's wrap around here.
(34:36):
Let me get my get my Carol K wiki out here.
Yeah, Carol, OK. Cause she's a sessions musician.
Right. So Carol, OK, like, so I'm sure
anybody who's like kind of like deep into session people or
recording, because she comes up in the recording world as well
because she's so famous for being a session musician, she's
(34:59):
worked with. I mean like the list goes on and
on, but I mean like beach Rachael.
Rachael. Beach Boys.
Quincy Jones. Here we go, Dusty.
Springfield Supreme. Supreme.
Sonny and Cher share herself. Joe Joe Cocker Like great Joe
Cocker. We got connection.
There's our connection right there.
(35:20):
Glen Campbell. Yeah, baby.
Yeah, so I mean, if you can go to a list and look at it all,
but it's it's insane. The monkeys, monkeys we got who
else we got here. Girlfriend called.
Tons of regular trails, tons of Quincy Jones stuff.
Like Tina Turner. Yeah, I can.
Tina Turner and stuff. We got supreme stuff.
(35:41):
Frank Sinatra like Robert Palmer.
Yes, man, it's crazy. Like Sam Cooke, Gloria Jones.
Wow, so. Like Nancy Wilson.
Barbra Streisand she's done workwith.
Yes, man. Like the list goes on and on.
Like we're like only kind of like in the 60s and 70s for the
(36:01):
work that she's done on this list kind of thing.
But if you go look her up, she'sincredible.
I am very sorry, I didn't know that she was.
She's mostly well known for a lot of bass playing, but she
does a lot of other stuff. She does the musician, but I was
very surprised that she wasn't in Rockford Hall of Fame
already. Already.
Yeah, to be honest. Like she is an actual like led
(36:21):
John, like a legend to be a female in the world at that
point. In the 60s.
In a rock'n'roll world who wasn't a groupie or like
whatever and was a serious musician, it was taken seriously
and like work with like Frank Zappa.
Like look at there's more peopleon this list that weren't even
mentioned on that. Like it's crazy man is like her
(36:43):
discographies and saying like LaBamba.
Especially being yeah on Pet Sounds beach.
Pet sounds are. You kidding me like.
Power bound Simon and Garfunkel, man, that's like, you know what
I mean? That's a huge dude.
Feeling alright Joe Cocker feeling all right so she was
playing on that like she. She is serious.
She's serious. She is a serious fucking legend.
(37:06):
Yeah, so like, super cool. I'm, I'm stoked about that, to
be fair. And she's kind of gotten her
flowers. It seems like in the last few
days. She still hears about it.
This or that, my friend. I don't think.
I don't know. I don't think.
So it seems like the career was no, I mean there was a 1996
there. Yeah, she lived till recently.
Like I don't think it was like early thing or whatever paradox
(37:30):
in the horn away over here on the floor is wonder what was dog
is. Snoring on the floor?
That's hilarious. Yeah, I mean, she's done
soundtracks. I don't know, like just look her
up and look up her history. Just there's a documentary you
can watch about while she's in it.
It's about session musicians. And she's like super famous.
She's well, well known in the circles for being incredibly
(37:50):
well known for her base playing and like pioneering certain
things and bass playing and likehow you would play in sessions.
And yeah, she's yeah, absolutely.
Like super legend. Yeah, super stoked.
I'm glad. I'm glad she's finally getting
in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame probably already should
have been in. There.
Yeah, I'm very like that, very surprised, very surprised.
(38:10):
But do you have you noticed likethat that that's kind of been an
issue, you know, something sometime or another, like you'd
hear bands like, oh, they got kind of, they got nixed again
from getting inducted. Yeah.
I mean like it takes takes takessome bands so long and sometimes
they don't ever get in. Or, and I get it that they only
do so many a year and I get the way that is funded and stuff
(38:32):
like that. But yeah, I don't know.
To me, and I mean the real reality is it's like it's just
kind of word or whatever, you know what I mean?
But in that in an opinion at that, yeah.
It doesn't but. The other side of it is like, I
don't know, like depends on how you look at it, I guess, is my
opinion of it. Like, I think it's cool.
(38:52):
Like when people get inducted, Ithink it's cool.
Yeah. It's not like the end of the
world have banned. I like doesn't get it done.
No, you know, I mean that kind of way.
No. So I don't look at it like that
necessarily, but in the same waythat people deserve it.
I feel like you know what I mean?
And people who don't necessarilyor whatever you want to say, but
generally I'm OK with them. But sometimes I'm a little like,
(39:13):
why would you, you know, I mean, you know, cause and that that
why would that person? Why would that person instead of
this person? Because this person is way more
right, Legend. Because you're, well, more no,
whatever the word is, right? Because we had Oasis on the
ballot this year. Yeah, and I think they would
have if they weren't coming backon tour.
I think this will be going to come back on.
(39:34):
I think people want to see what happens with this tour, all
right, when it comes to that. Can you be fair?
Leave it. Leave it, you know, Yeah, Good,
good, hot. Leave on a high note.
Yeah, exactly. Don't leave.
Don't you know, can they? If they have three shows and
they fucking fight and they fuckoff, just like, yeah, these guys
like yeah. Yeah, that's what I mean, right.
(39:54):
Like, I don't know, like if theypull it off, it'll make them way
more legendary story to be inducted after, right?
Like, and I think that's kind ofthe idea.
So that's fine. Like stuff like that.
And I don't think, I don't thinkthat they should be.
I'm not a huge Oasis person, butnot that I don't think they
shouldn't be, you know what I mean?
Point, but there are other people right now who are not
(40:17):
active or coming right at the end of things.
Oh yeah, that should be and should have been already,
potentially. Absolutely.
Right, that should be ahead of them.
But the problem is, I mean, it'sa very short list, right?
Yes. So, you know, majority of the
ceremony or whatever you want tosay is these people playing.
So you know, it's music, right? Which is cool too.
I mean, something to have some point, but you know what I mean?
(40:38):
Like it's only really like there's a bunch of awards
technically, but a lot of the only ones you see and the ones
that people talk about are only like 10 or whatever, right?
Yeah. And I mean, yeah, yeah, Outcast
is kind of new ish, like like wesaid, new ish and quotes, you
know, but you know, Oasis as well, I mean early 90s, but in
(41:00):
relatively, you know, relative. But man, early, 94 years ago
now. To 1955 for Chubby Checker
finally getting into. It yeah, that's what I mean,
that kind of stuff, right? Like weird shit like that.
Like. Maybe they're like, hey, well,
Chubby Checker didn't quite havethe body work, and I'm not
always has got way better of a catalog than Chubby Checker.
But Chubby Checker's been aroundlong enough where they're like,
(41:21):
OK, we can finally put him in. Yeah, and they're influential
thing. So I mean, Awasis will be in no
doubt. And Mariah Carey, she got nixed
off the off there as well. I think fish did as well.
Oh yeah, and they got. Even they got down there as a
fan vote and they still got denied.
So yeah, well, I mean, it's up to you.
I don't know whoever picks the picks, but whatever.
I wonder. I don't know who's fucking final
(41:43):
decider committee, obviously, but yeah, I don't know.
Can they fucking? Rock.
Probably that. Most times not.
They roll a joint? No, probably not.
Maybe some of them. I don't know, maybe not
actually, to be fair, I think it's like a council and like
everybody gets a vote. So I think, but I do believe
it's a bunch of musicians that do it.
Cause I know, OK, I've read an article that's good that said
(42:05):
that Dave Roll was like voting about it and a couple other
people that I don't remember. Nahh like people like that were
kind of on the council or however the bloody, you know, on
the board or whatever the hell the thing works like something
like that. So I don't know, but it's.
Interesting on the board becausethey're already in, right Foo
Fighters. Years ago or something like
that. But I mean like technically,
like they were like they are technically the biggest band to
(42:28):
come out of. Allison James.
Yet no. And yes.
Because it was Nirvana a couple years ago, I think.
Well, I was a while ago now. Is it?
Yeah, well, that was like pre pandemic, maybe renaming kind of
thing. Ohm.
Well, I mean, yeah. 5-6 years and I think Allison James
(42:48):
walking with that. I don't know, because I'm
thinking now, OK, they got Nirvana and they hit.
That had to be the first one. The first one, right?
Then you hit, then you can get Sound Garden in.
Then you can get some chains. Follow it up.
You have to follow the lead. Then you can get whoever.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Yeah.
Pearl Jam or whoever are you beginning argue that?
(43:09):
Maybe. But Oh yeah, I think there's a
pecking order. Yeah, sure.
You can. And I think all those bands
should be in it, right? I do believe like that.
Like as much as I'm not a big Pearl Jam person, like I mean I
understand what they brought to the table or.
Range. It's the same as the lasting
career they're doing shows in baseball fields and shit.
Yeah, listen to mean, as much asI don't like The Beatles, not
(43:30):
gonna be like everything about Dad's garbage, Fuck that noise.
But it's not like that. Like I just don't really like
the music is not that I don't like it.
It's just like, I mean, if it comes out, I don't care, but
like, I don't listen to it really.
Like, let's twist again. That's so funny.
Yeah, fucking super funny, man. But yeah, I mean, a pretty,
(43:50):
pretty good list. Like I said, I'm glad Carol Kay
is getting that. I'm totally cool with salt and
pepper. Yeah, like that's really good
And like the rest Bad Company until I thought they would be on
in already too. Like to be fair about it.
Like I thought that be like making love.
Down there, gonna regret singingon that but I forgot we were
(44:12):
recorded. Making love.
That's funny. That's a little bad company,
folks. They deserve to be in, so that's
cool. This is a giant list I guess.
Wrap it all up with a little bowl here, folks.
Yeah, it's pretty sick, but. Cool that.
Yeah, we went over the. Cool thing.
Yeah. I thought that was looking at
some things and I heard some stuff and I was like, oh fucking
(44:33):
pop in that now. Little hot little Hall of Fame
half. Yeah, little bit of huffing.
Half of 2025. So we got going on next week,
Ryan Snow, we got a. Little we have a guest, we have
a guest coming in the studio. We have a returning guest for
his third appearance on the podcast.
But first live in the studio. We have our buddy and friends
(44:54):
yeah, our pal Ryan G from Ryan G97.7 Rock Grand Prairie.
Check them out and we're still. Going to be cool yeah he'll be
in studio we're kind of we got afew we've had a few people in
now it'll be pretty cool I like that yeah.
So at some point, maybe we'll. This dude.
Maybe we'll get big enough at one point to have everybody in,
but it's gonna be it'll be cool pad with with Ryan.
(45:16):
I'm excited to sit down and havea have a chat face to face
rather than over to Cam. Yeah, we can squeeze them in
here. Squeeze them and.
Squeeze them, put a Cam on his face and it said, listen, you
can see his face but you can zoom daily.
That's good. You could, yeah.
You could do listen to him dailyfrom what is it 2 to 7 I
(45:38):
believe, or two to six whatever it is under 97.7 rock in Grand
Prairie. Grand Prairie, Alberta.
Big shadow, Yeah, yeah. First, third time guy on.
Third time, first, third. He's gonna be a Three Peter 3
peat. Here comes.
That's. Pretty cool.
Three-peat award. That's cool.
Yeah, so that'll be cool. And it's always fun to talk to
him and he's good laugh. He's awesome.
(45:59):
He's been busy, busy also. He's going to do a lot of
catching up. And yeah.
And if you haven't yet, I don't know if you're gonna see this on
Spotify or YouTube, but make sure you check out our YouTube
page. We got Bill Wieliczka coming
back on and he was great too, gave us gave us a lot of stuff
to talk about. There happened.
And we had them, we had Part 2, Jimmy Ray before Tammy Ray, lots
(46:22):
of insight with him, lots of cool kind of almost business
insight and a lot of cool things.
Had a really cool chat with him again.
So that was really fun. And that was kind of like twice
close together. That was pretty cool.
Yeah. Checked out and.
Yeah, there was another podcast too that sounds on YouTube, but
it, I didn't say it at the time, but it was actually my birthday
(46:42):
at the time and I had control ofthe mouse and keyboard and I got
the fuck around with the some sounds and shit.
That sounds good. We already had a few beers
because we were watching. The game beforehand.
And yeah, so if you're into that, you can watch that as
well. It's on YouTube and.
Yeah, check that out guys. Thanks for tuning in again.
(47:02):
Love it, love it. Let's keep on coming back.
We're we're loving it. We're we're almost at 11,000 on
Instagram. All of us on Instagram give us
lots of love bullshit you and if.
You are just an Instagram follower somehow in you're
hearing this. Yes, Follow us on all of our
things. Whatever, whatever your
particular platform is, give us a follow on there.
(47:24):
Even if you just got Facebook for an old shitty reason to keep
up with your old granny at home, hey?
Give us a follow. You could just type it in there
too and give us a follow on there.
Yeah, I mean just just help. We're going I think leading into
the fall, once the summer is over and done, once the vacays
are done and the whole thing, once we come back for reset, I
(47:44):
think we're going to be hitting on the two-part.
I think that'll be our yes, I think that's going to be the
next wave of the podcast. We'll be doing that.
And probably probably hit episode 100 this year at some
point too. Not far away, man.
This will be episode 92. Are you serious?
Yeah, man, technically. We gotta plan a big one for a
(48:04):
hundy. Yeah, technically speaking, we
have more, almost 100 episodes. Already.
Just record it right. But we do actually or we got
more than 100 episodes recorded, but those are for the first year
there for a secret plan later ata later date.
Those are be. Behind the scenes, yeah,
(48:26):
somebody were little. After pods or extended pods it
got cut and we just kept going. All kinds of fun stuff.
You know you. Can't.
You can't even imagine. Stuff we're getting.
So we're gonna be by like say October will be fully, fully
flanged once again and will be fully flanged, Yeah, we'll be
doing another necessarily reset, but we'll be doing an upgrade to
(48:48):
the whole thing. We'll be getting there.
Will be on board. We'll be on.
Yeah, we got a whole, we got a whole bunch of things that like
summertime, it's hard to do stuff.
So that's kind of where we're at.
But. Change the season, change of
changes. Changes.
So yeah. So buying changes, I see no
change changes. To Oldsmobiles with laser guns.
(49:12):
Mr. Mike Moleman was sick. Coffee grinder.
Yeah, if you want to grind up your coffee in the.
Morning coffee grind. Maybe you're a gardener even and
you want to garden some things, Yes.
Garlic. You can put garlic in here.
Yeah, you can mince up some garlic if you want.
That's if that's your. Thing that's crazy.
(49:34):
You could have deadly. You could actually, Yeah, No,
Everybody, let's keep talking for everybody.
Stay here. We could just keep going.
But everybody, thank you so muchagain for listening.
Thank you so much for following.Do not forget to follow us on
all the platforms, everywhere, all the time, all the socials,
everywhere, all the time. All the shit.
(49:55):
We'll see you next time everybody.
Cheers y'all, have a good night.See you next time.
It's been another episode of. And the year was 1985.
