We were talking a little bit of the Canadian rock scene.
Yeah, so we were having a littlechat beforehand, so we figured
we would maybe delve into, well,we'll probably start in our
territory in the 90s, generally speaking, but we'll probably

veer off and get some deep 70s rock'n'roll hits and a few other
ditties in there, even maybe some classic pop tunes that you
didn't quite realize, or even pop tunes from Canada.
So we're going to do a little quick Diddy here tonight, listen
to some tunes. It's going to be a fun episode.
Well, we want to start here since we started off with a
little bit of Big Wreck. Do we?

aren't on the radio that are really good, Like really good,
and this is one of them. I noticed song I've.
Heard pigeon camera right? I mean, the name definitely

In my opinion, pretty much all of them really.
And yeah, but I don't like if itwas weird for me because I only
kind of like, I didn't really get into the hip until kind of a
little bit later. Like I just.

but I don't know if that's the right answer, but I don't know.

It was just like, I don't know in through high school until
like a graduated high school. I just it's not that I didn't
like them necessarily. I mean I like the radio songs
and watching the videos and all that stuff, but I just never.

don't know how to even explain it.
Like it's not even like a bad thing.
It's not like, oh, I hate it or yeah, I don't know how to
explain it, man. I don't know.
It just wasn't on my radar I guess or something.

Well, I think it just maybe for us too.
It was a band that was a little bit before our time.
They came out, you know. I mean, you know, when we were
just a little babies. But yeah, you know, we caught up
later, right? Of course we knew the hits.
We knew New Orleans is sync in. Yeah.
Then I think when Hit by the Entry came out, which was a new

song. Yeah.
At the time what, 99 I think went ahead by a century came
out. Ish kind of gave a, you know,
the new generation to kind of a a newer look and a little bit of
resurgence for hip. It did, yeah, for sure.
Like phantom power was. I found Phantom Power kind of
made me interested in it. And then I seen him live around

the same time and it was like like, OHT was really good.
And I like the live experience better because I like the kind
of Gord going off on the poetry rant and stuff like that kind of
stuff or whatever. So I was like, oh, that was that
was wicked. And then I was like, well, I
should listen and take it in or whatever, but I didn't even
understand how big of a deal they were.
Yes, in reality, right at that point even.

But yeah, now everybody kind of knows or whatever.

I don't know why, but it's a very it's kind of different in a
way it is. It sounds just like Tragically
Hip, but it is a little bit different.
Yeah, I think I just love this song, how it can starts out like

And you'll see like, like he really gives it to, you know,
you really yell. So he's got the kind of low and
then he's got just a full range of emotion that you can kind of
hear through through his voice. Right.
Yeah. And I, yeah, I don't know, I
kind of got really engorged, like in my like early, early
20s, like 21/20/21 kind of thing.
And I was like, man, hip or wicked.

And then the more I've seen him live of the more I became more
and more and more of a fan. Now I'm like, holy, they love to
hit. Like, I love the hip.
And now I understand the whole thing.
I get it. Like that kind of thing.
They're like, I don't even know they're yeah, I don't know.
Just a cool legacy, cool band. Seem like they're genuinely
genuine dues, you know what I mean?
Like, yeah, that's a big player in the whole thing too, so.

Yes, a friend of a friend of ours is a is a friend of Rob
Baker. Yeah, Rob Baker is.
Our friend Bill Belichick, 2 time podcasts on podcasts is a
great friend of Rob Baker and you know, he's had him in his
movie and stuff like that. And great guys from what I can

see, from what I can see, you know, and the great musicians
too. So it's good to give them a
little bit of we're gonna keep him alive for many more years to
come. Yeah, well, this won't be the
last you'll hear of it from us kind of thing.
Generally speaking, I don't imagine.
We'll have to mention two if we've ever seen any of these
bands live. So yeah, I think I didn't see

Tragically Hip until 2005, I think.
Probably not too. Probably two or three, two or
three years before, no. I seen them somewhere else
earlier than that when I was in high school.
Sam Fist or some festival or something, maybe, I don't know.
I seen him. It was outdoor thing.

Relative definitely never seen him in high school.

till I was like 21 or something like that. 2021 would have.

Clumsy, the one record that everybody had in the record
collection when they were kids? This is short.

just absolutely exploded. Everybody had a copy of this

because it was him, them and David Usher and the hip.

the same time and it was like like, OHT was really good.
And I like the live experience better because I like the kind
of Gord going off on the poetry rant and stuff like that kind of

was wicked. And then I was like, well, I

understand how big of a deal they were.
