Brother Whitley shares six powerful leadership lessons from the biblical account of Nehemiah, revealing timeless principles for modern ministry. His message explores how God uses broken people to rebuild broken places, empowering leaders to overcome opposition through prayer and purpose.

• Nehemiah had a burden for a place he'd never seen, teaching us that God places specific callings on our hearts
• Prayer formed the foundation of Nehemiah's leadership—the book begins, ends, and is filled with prayer
• Nehemiah rebuilt walls with broken stones and also focused on rebuilding broken people
• Leadership isn't about position but about influence—being trustworthy, prepared, and serving others
• Purpose is married to opposition—spiritual tasks are never completed without human and demonic resistance
• Despite obstacles, Nehemiah brought revival by restoring worship, God's Word, celebration, and covenant

We invite you to support Brother Whitley's ministry by subscribing to his YouTube channel and purchasing his books. Links are available in the description, and be sure to join us next Tuesday for another Apostolic Mentoring session.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Oh, god has been doing mighty and wonderful
things here this week.
Actually, sitting right acrossfrom me right now is Pastor
Lorenzo, a great man of God thatmany of you know, great leader

(07:08):
in El Salvador, and just lovethis man of God and his family.
But, we came in here to thecountry just a few days ago.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
But we came in here to the country just a few days
ago.
And the nation of El Salvadorwanted to start a brand new
church in Tierra Blanca, andthey decided to work together in

(07:50):
the partnership of faith tostart this brand new church.
700 people gathered from alldifferent parts of El Salvador.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
To be there for the first day of this church plant.
What a great move of the HolyGhost we had.
God filled 84 with the HolyGhost.
Four brand new people werebaptized in Jesus' name and

(08:39):
Bishop Bermudez sent me amessage today that 325 people
reported notable miracles intheir body.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
And Bishop Bermuda just gave you the report that
325 people can be confirmingcuras and miracles in their body
.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
And I just think, wherever we are in the world
right now, we need to thank Godfor the revival that he is
giving to the nation of ElSalvador, and I thank God for

(09:23):
the partnership of faith that isin this nation.
And I want to take a moment togive honor to Bishop Bermudez
and the National Board.
I thank God for their visionand their leadership, and just

(09:52):
yesterday we were in anotherpart of San Salvador.
Training 200 plus pastors andthis morning we drove to San
Vicente we're about another 200ministers from another section

(10:21):
gathered together for apostolictraining.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Aonde encontramos mais 200 pastores que estavam
preparados para participar damentoria apostólica.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
And I just got done teaching.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
E eu acabei de terminar essa palestra.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Bishop Bermudez and Brother Lorenzo were so kind.
They found this little hotel inthe little village we're in,
and the Bishop Bermudas andPastor Lorenzo were so sweet and
gentle to find a hotel andfound a small room where I could

(11:06):
put all my equipment to do thissession today of the.
You can see I'm sopping wet.
I know that's not making SisterRobinette happy.
Oh, it's such a joy to alwaysbe in El Salvador and see the

(11:27):

all around the world.
I do want to say thank you toeverybody again who has been

(11:48):

Speaker 2 (11:53):
And again I want to thank all the people and support
that we are receiving from ournew book.
It has been somethingmagnificent.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
I know that many of you have been asking for a
Spanish version of thePartnership of Faith.
We just came to an agreementwith the National Church of El
Salvador yesterday morning andthey are going to translate the

(12:21):

Speaker 2 (12:26):

Speaker 2 (15:58):
E é minha honra de estar participando nessa sessão
hoje do avivamento global queestá acontecendo agora.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
I love World Missions .
I serve with our organization'sWorld Missions Department as
our overseer for our Europeanchurches.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
World Missions Department as our overseer for
our European churches.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
I love the global mission and I participate with
the global mission of the worldin the churches in Europe.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
I want to share with you what I feel like the Lord
has given me for you today.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Six leadership lessons from Nehemiah.
So to understand the context ofthe book of Nehemiah and it's

(16:56):
important to the story ofredemption, ezra and Zerubbabel
had already gone back toJerusalem to rebuild the temple
and reestablish sacrifices andworship.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Ezra and Zerubbabel had already returned to Israel
to build the temple and startedthe sacrifices and worship.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Nehemiah was still in Babylon while they were there
reestablishing and rebuilding.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
And Nehemiah was still in Babylon until they were
rebuilding the temples.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
It had been somewhere between 140 to 150 years since
Jerusalem had been destroyed byBabylon.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
And in that time it was like 140, 150 years when the
temple was destroyed in Babylon.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
Restoration and revival always comes on the
heels of ruin.
God has to restore that whichis broken down.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
God has to restore that which is broken down.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
So Ezra and Zerubbabel rebuilt the worship
and the temple, but they stillneeded the walls to not have

(18:50):
separation from the world.
We are still vulnerable to theenemy's attack.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
So I want to say that we can have the correct glory
and the correct separation, butif we still haven't built the
wall in separation with theworld, there will still be
things that will happen in thechurch.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
So Nehemiah was still in Babylon when he heard the
walls were still flat on theground and it broke his heart to
hear of the awful situationthat Jerusalem was in.

Speaker 2 (19:39):

Speaker 3 (19:43):
So number one, então número um he was a man with a
burden.

Speaker 2 (19:51):

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Keep in mind that Nehemiah was born in Babylon.
He had never seen the walls, never seen the temple or seen
the glory of Jerusalem.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
All he knew were the reports of a history of what it
used to be.
He had never visited Jerusalem.
He had never seen the temple.
All he knew were the reports ofa history of what it used to be
.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
All he knew was the history of what it used to be,
but he had a burden for what Godcould do with what was broken
down.
But, he had a burden for whatGod could do with what was
broken down.
He developed a love forJerusalem without ever being

(20:45):
there before.
God is raising up people todayto take them to places they've
never seen.
Antes de entrar neste lugar.

Speaker 2 (21:02):

Speaker 3 (21:21):
He was 1,500 miles away from Jerusalem, yet he
loved a place he had never beenbefore.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
And while he was in Babylon, he served as the king's
cupbearer In the comforts of apalace, in the comforts of
wealth and prosperity.

(22:05):
He had a burden for a brokenpeople, no conforto do palácio,
estava rompida.
What God did to him was he gothim out of his comfort zone, O
que Deus fez com ele.
Ele retirou ele do conforto, dazona de conforto onde ele

(22:26):
estava.
God doesn't call us to comfort,he calls us to hard things.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
conforto.
Calls us to hard things.
God doesn't give us the easythings.
He gives us the hard things, but he empowers us to do the
hard things.

Speaker 2 (22:52):

cidade.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Vamos ver a atenção.
Deus deu para Neemias o favorcity.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Nehemiah wasn't a wall builder, he was a cup
bearer.
But God can put something inyour spirit that's so far out of
your comfort zone and skill setthat he's going to empower you
and anoint you to do it.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Nehemiah was a copper .
He wasn't a wall builder.
But God can give you the powerand what is necessary to do
something you never did before,to be a winner.
Hallelujah.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
But I want you to think about what his burden was,
a burden for?

Speaker 2 (24:04):
walls.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
He didn't have a burden for the priesthood or the
kingship or the opposite of aprophet.
He had a burden for thepriesthood or the kingship or
the prophet, the office of aprophet he had a burden for
walls.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
He didn't have a call to be a king, to be a prophet,
to be a priest.
He had a call for the walls.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Jerusalem didn't need another Ezra or a Zerubbabel.
They needed a Nehemiah to havea burden for walls.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
Jerusalem didn't need another Ezra or a Zerubbabel.
They needed Nehemiah to have aburden for walls.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
God doesn't call you to do somebody else's work.
He calls you and gives you aburden for a specific work.
He doesn't need another CharlesRobinette.
He doesn't need another LeeStone King.
He needs you.
He needs you, aleluia.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
So what we might think isinsignificant with walls was
very significant to Nehemiah Etalvez a gente possa olhar para

(25:35):

Speaker 3 (25:43):
Sim, nós precisamos de pregar, sim, nós precisamos
de ensinar, mas tambémprecisamos de professores de
escola de sábado.
Janitores, guardiões, ushers, todos têm um papel a jogar nesta
revista.
Groundskeepers, ushers,Everybody has a role to play in
this revival.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Claro que nós necessitamos pregadores, que
necessitamos professores, mastambém nós necessitamos a pessoa
organizando as coisas.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
So Nehemiah had a burden for walls, and the Lord
sent him to Jerusalem to do thatvery task.
So he was a man with a burden.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Number two.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Nehemiah was a man of prayer.
If you read the entire book ofNehemiah today, you will see it
begins with prayer and it endswith prayer.
The book of Nehemiah is aprayer book.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Eleven times you will read about.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
Nehemiah é um livro de oração Eleven times you will
read about Nehemiah praying.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
Onze vezes você vai ler que Nehemiah estava orando.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Nehemiah would pray anytime there was an issue,
anytime there was an obstacle,he was always found praying.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
He was always found praying.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Prayer was the first thing that he thought to do, but
for some of us, prayer is thefirst thing he thought about
doing was praying Many times forus.
The last thing we want to do ispray.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Nehemiah prayed in private and he prayed in public.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
If you're going to be much for God, then you have to
spend much time with God Se vocêvai ser algo grande para Deus,
We can plan, we can prepare, but also let us pray.
Nós podemos planejar e podemospreparar.

(28:44):
We can plan, we can prepare, but also let us pray.
Calling without prayer becomeswork, Calling with prayer
becomes worship.

Speaker 2 (28:51):

Speaker 3 (29:02):
It's the work of the Lord, but it's also our worship
unto the Lord.

Speaker 2 (29:08):

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Number three.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Number three he was a city and a people repairer.
Nehemiah rebuilt the gates ofthe city with new lumber, but he

(29:46):
rebuilt the walls with restoredstones.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
Sanballat said this will they revive the stones out
of the heaps of rubbish whichare burned?

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Sandballat said, will they revive the stones which
are demoroned and burned?

Speaker 3 (30:11):
They didn't go get new stones.
They used the stones that werebroken and burned.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
They didn't go get new stones.
They used the stones that werebroken and burned.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Likewise, not only was the city broken down with
broken stones, but it was also abroken people in Jerusalem.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
rompidas e quebradas.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
God didn't give Israel new people.
He gave them a returned peoplewho were previously broken.
Likewise, God's not going togive us new people, perfect
people, but broken people.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Nehemiah thought he was going back to rebuild walls,
but God was sending him back torebuild people.
Nehemiah thought God took himto this place to rebuild people.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
wait, she got paused, but I feel the holy ghost here
today can you hear me now?

Speaker 2 (31:53):
hello, can you hear me?
Yes, okay, okay, I'm sorry, something else popped over here.
I did say what you said.
I'm sorry, All right perfect, you're fine.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
So he went back to rebuild the walls but ended up
rebuilding people.
The first six chapters ofNehemiah he rebuilds walls.
The last half of the book he'srebuilding people.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
He rebuilt the walls in 52 days, but it takes a
lifetime to rebuild people.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
It's easier to build buildings than it is to build
people.

Speaker 2 (33:04):

Speaker 3 (33:14):
But we can't leave a legacy of buildings.
Let's leave a legacy of peoplewho've been restored by Jesus.
Let's not forget our purpose ispeople.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
almas pessoas.
And people always have problemsE pessoas sempre têm problemas.
Nehemiah did not go into aperfect situation.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
He went into a broken situation but God gave him the
wisdom of how to rebuild people, and he will do so with us.

Speaker 2 (34:17):

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Number four, número quatro.
He motivated and inspiredothers.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Ele motivou e deu inspirações para outras.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Nehemiah could not rebuild those walls by himself,
but he had to have people helphim do what God called him to do
.
But he needed people to helphim do the things that God

(35:04):
called him to do.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Leadership does not begin with a pulpit or a
spotlight, but leadership beginswherever you are, within the
church or in a community.
Wherever you are, you can haveinfluence.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Even if you're not the one with the title or the
position, you have influence inleadership.

Speaker 2 (35:47):

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Even if you're not the leader, be on time.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
tempo correto.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
Even if you're not the leader, be on time.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Even if you're not the leader, be prepared, have a
good attitude and serve people.
pessoas.
Be trustworthy and haveintegrity.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
boa, anywhere that you are, within the church or in an
organization have influence andlead with anointing.

(36:59):
I love Brother Robinette'smission.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
For us to reach billions, we must equip millions
, equipando milhões paraalcançar bilhões.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
So we have to train and equip others to help us in
our mission.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Então nós temos que treinar e ajudar as outras
pessoas para nos ajudar a nosajudar.

Speaker 3 (37:37):
Your dream is only as good as your team.
It's not enough to simplyrestore people.
You must help them find theirpurpose as well.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
chamado deles.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Nehemiah inspired priests, princes and people.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Nehemiah estava sendo uma inspiração para os
príncipes, para as pessoas e andpeople.
Nehemiah was an inspiration tothe princes, to the people and
to the priests.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Almost 30 times you'll find the phrase in
Nehemiah next unto him, nextunto him and next unto him.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Almost 30 times you'll find in the word Nehemiah
speaking next to him, next tohim, next unto him.
Quase 30 vezes você encontra napalavra Neemias falando do lado
dele, do lado dele, do ladodele.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
Everyone has a task to complete To see the mission
completed.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
So number five, he overcame opposition.
This task and this callingwasn't accomplished in ideal or
perfect circumstances.

Speaker 2 (39:19):

Speaker 3 (39:31):
So many think that their place is the hardest place
and somewhere else will beeasier.
There's opposition wherever yougo.

Speaker 2 (39:42):

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Spiritual tasks are never going to be completed
without human and satanicopposition.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
The spiritual tasks will never be completed without
the demonic and angelicopposition.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
There were naysayers and mockers on the outside and
in the inside.
Purpose is married toopposition.

(40:38):
Propósito está casado comoposição.
If you're going to drink thecup of purpose, then you will
always drink the cup ofsuffering.

Speaker 2 (40:54):

Speaker 3 (41:05):
When you say you want to be a leader or you want to
be used of God, you are invitingtrouble.

Speaker 2 (41:13):

Speaker 3 (41:24):
When you get a raise or a promotion on your job, what
they are doing is they aregiving you more responsibility
to deal with trouble.

Speaker 2 (41:35):

Speaker 3 (41:46):
If you don't want trouble and problems and
frustration, then don't join theministry.

Speaker 2 (41:53):

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Nehemiah had oppositions from people on the
walls, not on the walls in thetemple.
Everywhere he went there wastrouble.
But you know what he did?
He prayed every time.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
Nehemiah had opposition and problems on the
walls, on the walls on theinside, on the outside, but the
difference is that he prayed.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
There will always be people who are jealous, who
don't like what you're doing, who oppose what you're trying to
do, but if you're a person or aman or a woman with a call and
a burden, you will continue inthe work anyway.

Speaker 2 (42:48):

Speaker 3 (43:03):
And this is what Nehemiah would say to all
opposition I am doing a greatwork so that I cannot come down.
Do not come down to their level, do not get down to their
problems, but rise above it andlive for the Lord and do your

(43:33):
work, bom trabalho.

Speaker 2 (43:35):

Speaker 3 (43:46):
Número seis.
Número seis, last one, e este éo último.
He brought about revival.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Ele trouxe o avivamento.

Speaker 3 (44:02):
In spite of all of the trouble and the opposition,
he rebuilt the walls in 52 days.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
problemas.
Ele reedificou os muros em 52dias.

Speaker 3 (44:20):
Not only that, he began the long process of
restoring the people's identityin Jerusalem.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
Let me tell you the things that he restored.
Reading of the word of God wasrestored.
The feast of tabernacles wasrestored.
Eles voltaram para as festasdos tabernáculos foi
reconstruído.

Speaker 3 (45:05):
The Covenant was restored.

Speaker 2 (45:07):
E a aliança foi reedificada, o pacto.

Speaker 3 (45:15):
Sins began to be denounced.

Speaker 2 (45:19):
E aí as pessoas começaram a negar as coisas que
eram pecadores.
The city began to berepopulated E a cidade começou a
ser repopulada.
They kicked Sanballat out ofthe temple.
Eles despediram o Sanballat dotemplo.

(45:43):
Rejoicing and joy was restored.

Speaker 3 (45:47):
Singing and the joy of the Lord was heard from afar
off.

Speaker 2 (46:10):
Despite all of the problems that Nehemiah faced,
the rewards far outweigh theworries teve que enfrentar.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Don't let us forget that the rewards that we are
seeking and striving for arespiritual and eternal.

Speaker 2 (46:30):

Speaker 3 (46:39):
It's going to be worth it all one of these days.
Nehemiah said let us rise upand build.
Let us rise up and pray, Let usrestore the broken.

(47:05):
Let's rise up and restoreworship.

Speaker 2 (47:13):
And let us rise up and restore people, levantar
juntos e reedificar e restauraro louvor.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
And let us rise up and restore people.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
E vamos levantar e restaurar as pessoas.

Speaker 3 (47:27):
I want to pray over you right now.

Speaker 2 (47:29):
E agora eu quero orar sobre a tua vida.

strength to continue your will.
