(00:10):
Good morning.
Welcome back to the Aussie Mindset Mentor.
Okay.
Hands up.
Where are all my driven people?
Driven has its benefits.
Like, it can create world champions, but wetend to see them end up in the media sooner or
later and they're not champions across everyarea of their life.

(00:32):
So the people who are truly champions, they getthere, but they're not necessarily driven with
that crazy eyed driven.
There's a sort of a peacefulness around wellrounded people.
And at the end of the day, they're probably notthe ones that we're seeing in the spotlight.

(00:53):
And if the spotlight is something you want, youknow, there are actors out there absolutely
amazing, you know, top of their field, and yetthey're still not making the tabloids every
day.
So pick what it is that you wanna be amazingat.
Pick your goal, and then let's have a look whatit is to be driven.

(01:15):
Look.
Driven has its usefulness.
Right?
It is it's great when you are absolutelycommitted to an outcome that is particularly,
you know, beyond yourself, But that actuallycan be where some of the problem lies.
When it is outside of yourself, you could beusing that and I don't mean for it to sound

(01:37):
horrible, but you could be using a cause tosimply give you the emotion that wouldn't be, I
know, acceptable or wouldn't look good for youto be having for yourself.
So any kind of driven as a foundation isn'tgreat.
And that's the bottom line.

(01:58):
As a foundation, being driven simply meansyou've got someone else in control of your life
if that's your foundation.
Because whatever it is that's driving you, whether it's a memory, whether it's trying to
prove yourself to someone, whether it's, youknow, to avoid something you don't like about

(02:20):
yourself, whatever it is that drives you, that's your foundation.
So if that's out of your control, if that'ssomething else other than your baseline, well,
what happens then is when that changes, it'llunsettle you.
It'll be like an earthquake.
And you only gotta look around and you can seewhere that does happen with people.

(02:43):
They reach the top of their game and then allof a sudden, particularly when you get people
at the top of their sports game, and then, like, there's nothing higher for them to go to.
And all of a sudden, it's just like, oh mygosh.
Where to now?
They start aging, and they can't keep at thetop there.
And so the only way is down, and that can bereally unsettling.

(03:08):
So let's have a look at driven as, you know, not as the foundation, but rather on top of the
foundation.
Now driven can be another word for committed, can be another word for, high priority goal,
whatever you like, or you can use the worddriven.
But as long as it's not your foundation, solet's come back to what is a good foundation.

(03:32):
Foundation must come from self.
And before it can come from yourself, youreally wanna have a look at things like, okay,
what is it that I wanna achieve and why?
When you get your why, that'll kind of give youif it's from a place of commitment because you

(03:53):
want to, you're choosing to, or it's from afoundation of being driven which is based on,
you know, some other external, factor, which iswhat's gonna unsettle things in the end.
So as a foundation, look for things likecontentedness, peace, calm, being happy.

(04:19):
If you can get a foundation of things likethat, which are like almost the opposite of
being driven right.
So you could look at someone who's wants toachieve a goal and go, go, go, and you're
saying, hang on.
Hang on.
So first of all, before I do that, you want meto just calm and chill and where's my momentum

(04:39):
going to go?
Okay.
Your mentum momentum will be just fine.
I promise you.
Alright?
But without a foundation of that happiness, calm, peacefulness, contentedness of being
enough right where you are without needing to,you know, put anything else on top of it or be

(05:01):
better, that you are just okay, just as youare.
Without that, you're driving towards a cliff.
Alright?
So when you're okay with who you are, then thenyou can drive however you like on that
foundation.
When you have a rock solid foundation ofknowing who you are of which gives you

(05:28):
integrity as well if you don't compromise that,When you have then you have an uncompromised
surface, and you will get so much bettertraction.
And if you wanna be driven, that's great.
But have a good foundation road.
Otherwise, you're just gonna spin your tires ifyou're not already powering towards a cliff.

(05:50):
Foundation, that's it.
Alright?
And I promise you, you will get to those goalsquicker.
And when you get there, you can enjoy it.
So let's face it, a lot of people at thefoundation of being driven, right, already
we've got the risk of, you know, going a 100miles an hour towards a cliff or going a 100

(06:12):
miles an hour just spinning your wheels in themud.
The other one that can happen with being drivenis that you do get the outcome, and then, you
know, it may be a few seconds, maybe even a fewminutes.
Hey, maybe even a day, you'll get to reallyenjoy it and have it sink in.

(06:36):
But it will very rarely last longer than a daybefore it'll be, okay, what's next?
What next?
And trying to get more of that feeling andtrying to keep that feeling because it will not
last.
Alright, it'll be like water and sand.
It will just run through and disappear.
Alright.
It'll just go straight through that sandwithout, you know, if that's your foundation.

(07:00):
But if you've got a good solid foundation, thatwater may just, you know, that joy, that
feeling, that accomplishment, it can just staythere with you.
And it'll be like a container that can hold it.
And when you're holding it, you'll then have itto share.

(07:21):
And that's what the bottom line is about.
Know, when you're when you're driven not as afoundation, but from a commitment, when you get
that success and on the journey to success, you'll also be able to share with others and
give to others and inspire others.
And that that is a feeling of connectedness anda fulfillment that you just can't get any other

(07:47):
way than by, you know, sharing and contributingto others.
So are you driven?
If you are it might be okay but just check thatit's not the foundation that you're, you know,
that you're upon, that you're driving upon.

(08:09):
Just check-in.
Am I first of all, do I think I'm enough justas I am if I didn't achieve this?
Am I contented with where I am and what I'vegot without achieving this?
And if the answer is yes then drive like a batout of hell.

(08:30):
Okay and of course at the end of this when youare driven from choice and from being enough
and contentedness and from commitment then itjust goes that you'll also have kindness
because that's really a foundation for allhumans that makes our lives so much better.

(08:51):
So with kindness please go share it thanks forlistening today bye for now.
