(00:09):
Good morning, and welcome back to the Aussiemindset mentor.
My name's Selena.
For those who haven't listened before, thankyou so much for joining me, new friends and
old.
So today, I just wanna look at a concept.
I I read a little meme that said life is short, time is fast.

(00:29):
And I thought, yeah.
Look.
Time is short relatively.
I agree.
But time is fast?
Not so much.
Consider that, like, time is time.
It really is.
If I was to sit and try to slow down time andtake it all in, then it it that's a waste of

(00:53):
time.
Right?
Because I can't.
The the if I had a clock, it'd be ticking, andit didn't matter what I did, that many seconds
has passed.
I could take the batteries out of my clock, andit would stop, but it's not a reality.
So if I was to look at then sitting down andslowing myself down rather than time, now that

(01:17):
can make a difference.
I could think clearer.
I could appreciate every moment.
And it might seem like time is slowing down, but it is me that's slowing down.
And in that state, I may be effective, so muchmore effective than I would be otherwise with

(01:38):
all, you know, racing fast, fast, fast.
You know?
The the old tortoise and the hare race.
Right?
And the tortoise wins.
So don't try to slow down time.
Let's look at slowing down ourselves enoughthat we can appreciate everything.
We can experience this one life we've got nomatter how long or short it is or how we

(02:05):
perceive it to be.
None of that matters.
This moment right now is the only moment rightnow you've got, and it's gone.
And now this is the only moment you've got, andit too is gone.
There is no replay.
You can't redo it.
So regrets, what a waste of time.

(02:27):
Learnings.
Now your regrets might be a waste of time, butit doesn't mean you don't learn from it so that
life doesn't have to keep knocking at yourdoor.
I think when we get our vicious cycles and whenthe same thing shows up and the same mistakes
show up and we we make the bad the same baddecisions seemingly over and over or the same,

(02:51):
people or type of people that aren't good forus keep showing up in our lives.
I think in a way that's the universe trying toteach us trying to teach us and until we learn
it's like being stuck in grade two we just donot pass, and we keep having to relearn until
we learn it, We pass that, and then we move on.

(03:15):
I think it's much the same as that.
So having that slow time gives us time to lookat what is the lesson.
And when we have the lesson, we can then moveon.
And all in the future, we're not repeatingthose mistakes.
And so we're in fact that's a great investmentbecause the value of all of our future time

(03:38):
becomes that much greater.
So when, in some ways, we get more quality, good, wonderful times, and that's what it's
about.
It's not about, you know, having longer lives.
It's about having greater quality of the lifewe have in our moment now, in our moment now,

(04:03):
and in our moment now.
So time.
If you're gonna look at it, look at how am Iinvesting my time?
Where am I putting my time?
Because whether it's, you know, long or short, that's perception.
Like, if we compare it to how long humans havebeen on the earth, we are a very, very, very

(04:27):
short time here.
Now if we're comparing it to, you know, a childwhose life has taken too soon, then we're here
for a very long time.
And in fact, the parent who of that child who'sno longer here, their life may seem an
eternity.
So it's not about the time or the perception oftime we have.

(04:51):
It's about what we do with whatever time wehave.
Alright?
The, so it's not about the long or short.
It's about the actual time we have and what wedo with that.
It's the value of that time.
What difference can we make with the time we'regiven?

(05:12):
And whether, you know, whether it be ten years, twenty years, seventy years, that's all the
time we're given.
That's it.
The end.
What are you going to do today that will haveyou experience the joy of being alive and the

(05:36):
absolute privilege of being alive right now inthis moment that you'll never have again?
What are you gonna do that will leave youfeeling great or feeling just feeling good
about your life without guilt that you're hereand someone else might not be, without the

(05:59):
deserving that, you know, because you've mighthave this wonderful life and you see other
people suffering.
Well, that's no reason for you to suffer.
That's just where they're at.
Or maybe you feel the suffering and everyoneelse around you seems to be having these great
lives.
That doesn't matter.

(06:19):
If you're really stuck at the moment to for thejoy in life or for the experience of life or
for the, you know, stuck in the perception ofhow it should be, how it shouldn't be, whether
it's short, long, how much time you have, Ifyou're stuck in that perception, I'd I just
invite you to just take a breath and begrateful for something, and then acknowledge

(06:46):
yourself for something.
Acknowledge yourself for the difference youmake somewhere.
Someone loves you.
Someone loves you, and they they love you beingin their life.
You can be grateful.
You can acknowledge the difference you make forthem and the joy you give to them.

(07:10):
And if if you don't feel there's anyone thatloves you, go out and smile at someone.
Give someone a smile who just looks likethey're having a really tough day.
Or even if they don't, they're putting on abrave face.
And if they smile back, you just made adifference to that person.

(07:30):
Being of service and making a difference ispossibly the most fulfilling and wonderful
thing that you can do in your life.
Of all the monetary things, you know, it's allperception as well.
It's you know, what really counts is thatfeeling of fulfillment, that feeling that our

(07:51):
lives are worth something.
And for that, we must first start valuingourselves.
So acknowledge yourself for something.
Go be of service even if it's giving a smileaway or whatever it is for you.
Alright.
Have a wonderful day.

(08:12):
Go go spread kindness.
The one thing that certainly you know?
Wow.
To put more of that in the world, that's one ofthose things that really I don't think there
can ever be enough of.
Be kind to yourself.
Thanks for listening.
Bye for now.
