(00:10):
Good morning, and welcome to the Aussie MindsetMentor.
My name's Selena.
If you haven't joined me before, welcome.
And if you have, welcome back.
Today, I wanna talk about a swap out of wordsthat really literally can set you free.
And that is swapping out the words I am for Ilike to.

(00:32):
I am.
It really puts you in a box.
We all have an idea of who we are and, youknow, we're growing into something or what our
restrictions are.
You know, what plays particular to this is thepersonality charts.
You might have seen them.
You've got your i's and your d's.
And then other charts are your north, south, east, westerns.

(00:54):
There's lots of different charts, and theybasically assess our personality and our
traits, and they kinda label it.
Now that is a useful tool.
That is and can be, you know, a very, a goodguide and somewhere to bring awareness to you

(01:14):
and somewhere to show where your strengths andweaknesses are.
And, really, you know, another way of puttinglabels on ourselves is whether we're a Gemini
or a Taurus or an Aries.
They're never 100% true.
And the problem with being I am, you know, I amis you're relating to someone else's truth

(01:35):
because even amongst all of those tests I mean, there's so many different personality tests
because they all differ in where they're comingfrom, what they believe, and what their
opinions and what their research shows.
And even in the stars, you know, there's allthere's difference of opinions between two
readers.
So when you say I am, consider that your box issomeone else's creation.

(02:01):
Alright?
Now when you say I like, say you are apersonality that loves the attention to detail.
Right?
That's not me.
Or you're the big picture detail the bigpicture, you know, ideas person, but, yeah, not
so much on attention to detail.
These are really good to know.

(02:21):
But if I'm honest, it's not that I can't dodetail and dot all my i's and crosses all my
t's.
It's really that I I grow impatient and there'sso many more ideas flooding my head that I
could be doing, but it's just not what I liketo do.
I can do it.
It's just not what I like to do.
Now when I change that from being I'm not adetails person to, you know, I like the big

(02:48):
picture stuff better than the details, I nowhave freedom.
I can do the details, and I can do it well.
I can do it well.
Alright?
But I don't like to, so give it to someone elsewho loves to.
Do what we do good at.
There's a source for great happiness, and so isthe freedom.

(03:11):
When you say, I like the big picture stuff, andyou do that, that's then a source of happiness
rather than I'm a big per I'm a big picturestuff person.
Right?
When you're in that category, here there is nojoy in it.
There's no, like, celebration of doingsomething that you love to do or you like to do

(03:32):
or that you're good at.
It's just that, oh, I'm a big pictures person,so that's why I'm good at it.
Alright.
There's no freedom or joy or happiness there.
So today, have a look at whenever you go to sayI am, you know, I am right handed.
Okay.
You may work better right handed and it mightbe difficult left handed, but you know what?

(03:54):
If you really stuck at it and you really putall that effort into being left handed, you
could become quite capable with your left hand.
Now do you wanna do that?
No.
Because it's harder.
And what for?
Unless you're doing a job or a sport orsomething that requires you to be just as good
with your left hand, why?

(04:15):
You know?
It would become a task and hard instead ofsomething joyous and fun.
So to that end, do what you like to do, butacknowledge that it's because you like to do
it, not because you are a certain way or youaren't a certain way.
Alright?
So go forth today, this whole day, whenever yousay I am at any level.

(04:39):
Alright, except for if it's I am happy or I amkind, you can say that a million times.
If, you know, you're you're saying acharacteristics that you wanna be.
But if it's something that puts you in a box, Iam, change it over to I like.
And you know what?
I do like to be kind.
It makes you feel good.

(05:00):
So today, swap out I am and to I like, and goout and practice liking being kind because it's
awesome and the world needs more of it.
Bye for now.
