Ready for a wake-up call about your scrolling habits? You're about to discover why that endless social media loop might steal your greatest gift to the world.

This episode I dive deep into the battle between consumption and creation in our digital age. I share my struggles with working from home and how the clever algorithms keep us hooked on content perfectly tailored to our interests. Remember life before smartphones? That perspective gives us powerful insight into what we've lost and how to reclaim it.

Your extraordinary gifts—healing others, creating art, teaching, or simply bringing joy—are suppressed every time you choose consumption over creation. When we get trapped in excess patterns—scrolling, shopping, eating, drinking—we disconnect from source energy and the flow state where true magic happens.

The solution isn't about harsh discipline but finding balance. Draw inspiration from others, then kindly get to work, allowing creativity to flow through you. This episode was created exactly this way—no script, just pure creative energy flowing into aligned action. Are you ready to put down your phone and pick up your purpose?

Join me in breaking free from consumption patterns that block your creative potential. Your gifts matter, and the world is waiting for what only you can create. Listen now, then share this message with someone who needs to hear it. Together, we're becoming warriors of creation in a world of endless consumption.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to the Becoming your Warrior podcast.
This is the place where you getto feel inspired and empowered
to step into your very best life.
Hey, it is Em.
We are going to be talkingabout consumption over creation

(00:22):
in this episode, and the reasonI want to talk about this is
when I'm talking aboutconsumption, I'm talking about,
like social media, justconsuming social media, or an
excess of food, excess ofalcohol, excess of anything.
Where we're consuming, we'retaking it in, as opposed to
creation, which is our output, what we are putting out there.

(00:45):
And the reason I want to talkabout this is because full
disclosure since I've beenworking from home and working
for myself a lot more, I havedefinitely noticed my
consumption of scrolling andsocial media has gone up and
I've taken steps to reduce that.
So now you know, overnight andin the daytime, taken steps to

(01:06):
reduce that.
So now you know, overnight andin the daytime, my phone and my
laptop stay in the living roomand they get charged there, so
my phone doesn't come into mybedroom with me.
So I avoid that.
First thing when you wake upand check your alarm is just to
jump straight on your phone.
So I've removed that.
But I found that, you know, even if I was going to upload
something on social media, I doit.

(01:27):
But then I just end up goingdown this like Instagram hole or
this TikTok hole and justgetting caught up and the
algorithm is so clever becauseit's sending me things that
really interest me.
So I'm like, oh, I'll justwatch this, and you know, and
this is how it begins.
Now, luckily, I'm a little bitolder, so for me I'm aware that
you know, this isn't healthy, and I didn't grow up like this.

(01:47):
I didn't have a phone until Iwas 17.
And that was a brick that hadlike 10 pounds of credit on and
all you could do was dial anumber.
So I have this, I guess, thiswisdom of what life is like
without having a phone, and thennow having this amazing
technology that we've got, but,in terms of consumption, what it

(02:09):
actually does when you areconsuming and consuming, and
consuming and consuming, it'sactually taking you away from
what it is we are all here to do, which is to create.
We all have gifts and you mightbe going.
I don't know what my gifts are, that's okay, that's totally
cool.
But we all are gifts and youmight be going.
I don't know what my gifts are.
That's okay, that's totallycool, but we all are here at
this time in the earth, on theearth, for a reason, and you

(02:33):
know our purpose is, I believe,to remember who we actually are.
But beyond that, we all havegifts that we can offer out on a
human level to each person onthe planet.
So, you know, somebody mighthave the gift of being
incredibly caring or anincredible surgeon, or, you know
, a doctor, or somebody who isreally good at taking care of

(02:56):
people, or somebody who's asinger and a performer and wants
to use their voice.
So we all have these gifts.
And when we consume, when we getstuck in that loop of
consumption, what that does isthat takes away the amazing
thing that we have on thisplanet called time, which is
limited to create.

(03:18):
And when you are in yourcreative energy, when you're in
that place of flow state, whenyou're in that place of flow
state, when you're in that placeof being present and sharing
your gifts, whatever they are,you know, and that could just be
to share your gifts withyourself.
It could be just to paint foryou, for the sheer pleasure of
it, right To create something.
That is what we are all here todo.

(03:40):
We're all here to create, andso, while I really appreciate
that there are products, thereare services out there that
allow us to consume, for example, again, social media.
It's incredible what is onthere, like what I learn through
social media I'm inspired by,but you know, it's also like
watching an Olympian, you know, break their world record, break

(04:03):
the world record.
It's inspiration.
You watch it and you'reinspired, but we're not flicking
through that like every threeseconds.
You know, it's just a moment intime that's been captured, and
so I really would love just toinvite you today just to look at
where you are consuming, wherethere is an excess of

(04:29):
consumption in your life, andthat can be food, that can be
alcohol, that can be partying, that can be social media, that
could be, you know, online porn.
That could be.
You know, when you are justconsuming, you're not in flow
state, you're not in the placeof okay, like this is what I'm
here to do, this is what I'mhere to create.
You are essentiallydisconnecting yourself from

(04:53):
source energy, and you know Ihave been on a big, big, big
journey over the last few yearsand you know you're going to
hear me talk about source a lotmore.
I think that's a safe word touse and it's very universal.
So, whatever source means toyou, but when we get stuck in
this pattern of consumptionalcohol, drugs, online shopping,

(05:13):
you know, porn, social media, whatever it is, whatever your
vice is we are disconnectingourselves from source.
And when we're in source, whenwe're like, connected to source,
that's when we're present,that's when we create, that's
where we are open to ideas, opento new opportunities, open to
possibilities, that's whereabundance flows through, that's

(05:35):
where freedom is, because youare freely creating, you're
allowing this creative energy toflow through you.
So, even as I'm talking rightnow, I haven't got anything
written down Like this is me,just in free flow, and how I got
here was I did a little bit oflike a dance.
Before I got here, I listenedto some really uplifting music

(05:57):
and then I sat my ass down andnow I'm talking to you because
now I'm in flow state, I'm inthe present, and so I'm creating
this.
So, even when you're listeningto this, just understand you are
consuming something and as muchas I would love to talk to you
all day, what I really wouldlove you to do is hopefully this

(06:17):
inspires you to stop theconsumption.
Maybe switch off your phone, leave your phone at home, go and
sit and be with yourself, dosome breathing, do like a nice
meditation, just, or whateverpractices you have that allow
you just to be and, from thatplace, allow the ideas to flow,
allow the creativity to flowthrough you.
You might be a skateboarder, you might be a rollerblader, you

(06:40):
might be an aerobics teacher, you might be, you know, you
might I don't know what you arebut you're incredible, you're
extraordinary.
Wherever you are, whateveryou're doing, you're
extraordinary and it's time tostart using this creation, this
allowing this creation to flowthrough you.
So that's my little consumptionversus creation.

(07:02):
There's a balance, right, likewatch things and do things to
feel inspired, look at whatother people are doing for
inspiration, not for comparison, for inspiration of what you can
do, and then just really kindlyget to work.
You know, not from a place ofburnout, not from a place of
pushing yourself, from a placeof flow state.

(07:23):
Allow that creativity to flow, allow those ideas to come in and
start taking aligned action.
I love you so much.
I hope you're having an amazingmorning, afternoon, evening,
wherever you are, sending you so, so, so much love, as always,
and I will talk to you soon.

(07:48):
Thanks for listening today, andif this episode helped or
inspired you, just remember toshare it to friends or family
who could also use someinspiration.
Today, we are all about sharingthe love.
