Ever feel like you’re walking through life with a quiet hum of “something’s wrong with me” in the background? We go straight at that belief, trace how it sneaks into relationships, work, money, and body image, and then pull it up by the roots with simple, compassionate tools you can use today.

We start by naming the hidden lens that turns neutral moments into personal verdicts. A comment about your work, a glance in the mirror, a budget wobble—none of these define you until they hit a belief that says they should. Using Byron Katie’s inquiry—Is it true? Is it absolutely true?—we challenge the story at its foundation and create space for a different experience: relief, breath, and a sense that you were never broken to begin with. From there, we explore identity shifts that stick: not forced affirmations, but grounded “I am” statements that speak from essence—confidence, freedom, the permission to be a little loud or beautifully quiet—and how those anchors translate into real choices and calmer nervous systems.

We also get practical. You’ll hear how to interrupt confirmation bias, separate feedback from self-worth, and integrate the change across your closest relationships. We talk energetic clearing, gentle habits that retrain attention, and the daily signals that tell you the old program is fading—less reactivity, cleaner boundaries, more honest joy. The result isn’t perfection; it’s permission to show up as you are and build from there with steadier hands and a softer heart.

If this resonates, share it with someone who needs the reminder, subscribe for more grounded mindset shifts, and leave a review to help others find the show. Ready for deeper support? Reach out or visit emma-richie.com to explore one-on-one work.

SPEAKER_00 (00:01):
Welcome to the Becoming Your Warrior podcast.
This is the place where you getto feel inspired and empowered
to step into your very bestlife.
Hey, I'm Em.
I help people energetically andemotionally move on from their
exes.

(00:22):
And today I want to talk about aconstraint that I see show up a
lot.
And a constraint is essentiallyan energy that some people come
into this life with.
And that is the feeling ofthere's something wrong with me.
And I see this time and timeagain in relationships, and I
see it a lot in sensitivepeople, myself included.

(00:44):
I used to really feel this.
So just to give you a reallysimple example of how this can
show up, if you are verydescribe yourself as somebody
who's very sensitive, it mightbe that somebody makes a comment
about your appearance, orsomebody comments about what
you're doing, or it can feellike people are attacking you or

(01:04):
constantly berating you.
I have a little bit of news, andas you know, I work with the
relationship to self andanything that's happening on the
outside is essentially areflection of what's happening
on the inside.
So if you feel that someone'sattacking you, if you feel like
somebody's constantly puttingyou down, I want to just invite
you to feel into this, and thatis the fact that you may think

(01:27):
that there's something wrongwith you.
Deep down, your interpretationof that might be it might be
connected to not feeling enoughor feeling less than, but
ultimately it comes down topeople are telling me things
about myself and it's making mefeel like there's something
wrong with me, where in factpeople are just saying what
they're saying.
People are just saying whatthey're saying, but it's because

(01:49):
you believe something aboutyourself, um, and that is why we
live through this constraint ofthere's something wrong with me.
So the way that I describe it isimagine you have a see-through
contact lens, like a giantcontact lens that you walk
around on, and in that contactlens is just this vision of your
life, which is there issomething wrong with me.

(02:10):
So as you move around throughlife and go through your day,
you will find things, you willfind evidence to reflect back at
you that there's something wrongwith you.
It might be you look in themirror and you go, Oh my
goodness, my body isn't the wayit should be, da-da-da-da-da.
Um, or somebody makes a commentabout your work and you're like,
oh, I've done something wrong, there's something wrong with me,

(02:31):
I haven't done it in the properway.
It can play out in anxiety whereyou're literally on tender hooks
and you're literally saying toyourself, like, I can't get
anything wrong, like I can't doanything wrong, you know, it
otherwise it's gonna show thatthere's something wrong with me.
Um, excuse me, it can even be inyour finances as well, where

(02:51):
you're like, I just can't getbeyond this certain point when
it comes to finances.
There's something wrong with me.
So, like I said, it shows up inyour outer world, what's going
on in your inner world?
And here is the question to askyourself, which is actually a
lot of Byron Katie's work.
I don't know if you've heard ofher or not, but Byron Katie is

(03:12):
an amazing healer, spiritualtherapist, amazing lady.
Um, and she asks you so if I wasto ask you right now, is it true
that there is something wrongwith you?
Like, is it true?
And you're gonna come towhatever answer that is.
And so the next question I wouldask using Byron Katie's work is

(03:34):
Is it absolutely true thatthere's something wrong with
you?
And when you feel into that, like in the absolute, in the
absolute, doesn't matter whatyour body looks like, doesn't
matter what your finances arelike, or whatever, like, is it
absolutely true that there'ssomething wrong with you?
And the answer is always gonnabe no.
And in that, that relief comesthe space and a bit of peace and

(04:01):
probably an exhale and a bit ofrelease.
And the next thing to askyourself then is well, who do I
get to be?
Who do I get to be if I'm nolonger living in the lie of
there's something wrong with me?
And just feel into that.
Like, you know, for example, when I broke through this

(04:22):
constraint, I was like, Well, Ican be confident, I can be fun,
I can be all of me, I can, youknow, love my body and move my
body because I want to, notbecause I think there's
something wrong with me.
I can show up and be a bit loudin friendship circles, you know,

(04:44):
I can actually show up and beseen.
Um, and so it's a beautiful umconstraint to um to break
through because when you breakthrough, there is a lot of
freedom and peace and ease onthe other side of it.
And then it's just the practiceof reminding yourself that
that's who you are, you know, and not through affirmations,

(05:05):
because I I personally havenever been a huge fan of
affirmations.
Like I really believe likeaffirmations is like you're
feeling bad, and then you likelook in the mirror and you're
like, I feel good, and you'reforcing it, and it's it's not
true.
Um, so instead, like when yourealize it's all a lie and it's
it's something that's just beenlearned, um, what you actually

(05:26):
get to do is you actually get tosay, I am statement.
So it's like I am freedom and Iam confident and I am um, you
know, I am a little bit loudsometimes, and that's okay,
because you're speaking from thevery essence of you, not from
this little physical construct, you know, called Emma.

(05:47):
So I'll leave that with youtoday, but just know there's
nothing wrong with you.
There never has been in yourlife.
You have just from whateverstory, whatever um, you know,
childhood you've grown up in,you've just received a program
that there's something wrongwith you, and it's absolutely
not true.
Um, it's it's an absolute lie.

(06:07):
And when you realize that, youget to step into freedom, get to
step into love and possibility, and that's really who you are.
Um, if you want to find outmore, just drop me a message.
Um, my details are in the videobelow.
Um, I love helping people breakthrough this and clearing their
energy.
And when you clear your energywith yourself, when you clear,

(06:28):
you know, these old constraints, they just don't show up in any
relationships.
And so you get to show up in arelationship with your friends,
with your family, with yourpartners or partner, I should
say, or partners.
Um, you get to show upauthentically, you get to show
up as you and not be assensitive as you once were.

(06:48):
All right, sending you so muchlove and I will chat to you
soon.
Thanks so much for listeningtoday.
