Episode 23 - Zelma Stone // Musician.

“Zelma Stone is a remarkably talented person with an angelic voice and a very calming presence. I’m excited about this episode of BEDROOM™ because it’s sort of a first of its kind in a way - let me explain… You see, I put out a call to my community, asking who they’d like to see me talk to on this podcast, and a good friend of mine with immaculate taste suggested Zelma Stone. I looked into their work and was immediately down. Their music is raw and vulnerable, beautiful and real, honest and melodically charming. Needless to say, I’m a new and big fan of Zelma’s work, and I’m so grateful that my creative path has crossed theirs. Zelma has that special sauce, and it’s only a matter of time until they’re put on the pedestal for all to hear. I’m stoked and honored to be the one to share today’s interview with you.

So here we are, live on the Internet, diving into a conversation between two people who had never even crossed paths despite having many, many mutual friends. This is what I love about the power of this podcast and my community - last week I didn’t even know this person, and this week I feel like I have a new friend and a new favorite musician to throw on repeat.

In this episode of BEDROOM™, Zelma and I get candid and vulnerable. We talk about how hard it can be to live as an artist in this day and age, and how sometimes sharing our work can feel like an uphill battle - and yet we persist. Zelma talks about the concept of “demo-itis” and finding balance within the duality of their music. We talk about record labels, how we feel when we see musicians mess up while performing on stage, and how those mishaps can be beautiful. Zelma shares their love of music videos, and we dive into some of their past work. Zelma then walks us through the process of working with Ginger Root, Madeline Kenney, and Meernaa on the remixed version of her EP The Best (Remixed). Zelma then shares details about their upcoming tour with friend and LA-based musician Kaycie Satterfield.

Finally, after all that, we wrap up with a round of BEDROOM BANTER™, where I rapid-fire some classic BEDROOM™ questions, and Zelma gives the fans what they want. Big shout-out to Zelma Stone for coming onto the pod. Welcome to the BEDROOM™, y’all! WORLDWIDE PEACE!” – PSG

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
