Episode 30 – James Wavey // Musician
“His government name is Michael Bridgmon, but to all of us in the Bay Area music scene, we know him as the one and only James Wavey – and what a fitting name for dude. He’s about as fly as they come, and Wavey is only the tip of the descriptive iceberg that defines the aura he exudes. James is calm, cool, and collected, with a grounding presence. His musical career has organically grown and blossomed in the Bay, and each branch of his sound has its own unique appeal – I think that’s what I appreciate about his art. He’s down to experiment as an artist, shift up his sound, and stay self-aware of his range, which makes his genre-blending approach to music feel seamless, confident, and full of authorship. All in all, he’s a new homie to me, but nowhere near new to some of y’all, as he’s planted his sounds into the Bay’s musical community, and we’re proud to call him a local. I’m beyond amped to share today’s conversation with y’all. James Wavey is the truth and as he would put it: We’re making history.
In this episode of BEDROOM™, James Wavey talks about his upbringing and how he found his love of music in the church. He shares about growing up in St. Louis and reflects on the power and influence of art, and how it magnetized him at a young age. Wavey speaks on how artists need to better understand the responsibility of the influence they hold over their audience. We talk about his art school days in Columbus, Ohio, and how he fell in love with different genres of music. Wavey shares about his move to the Bay and the birth of the James Wavey moniker. He gives props to Econo Jam Records for helping him establish a presence on their store shelves and talks about the importance of physical releases.
From there, we dive into some listener-submitted questions—one from BEDROOM™ alum Sam Jones, musician in the band Mild Universe, and another from visual artist and local poster designer Galine Tumasyan.
Finally, we wrap things up with a round of BEDROOM BANTER™, where I rapid-fire some classic BEDROOM™ questions and Wavey gives the fans what they want. Big shoutout to James Wavey for coming on the pod. Welcome to the BEDROOM™, y’all. WORLDWIDE PEACE.” – PSG

Ruthie's Table 4
For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
