(00:00):
Hey my friends, welcome toBehind the Mike Podcast.
(00:02):
I'm Mike Stoneand I want to warn you
right upfront this episode mayshake you up a bit, but it might
also be exactlywhat you need right now.
So let me just say it.
There's there's a wargoing on all around us.
Not just around us, but in us.
I'm talking about the battlefor your mind.
(00:23):
If you've ever found yourselfthinking things that don't line
up with truth.
But they feel so real, well, you're not alone.
And you're not crazy.
You see, the enemy of your souldoesn't always come with horns
and pitchforks.
Sometimes he just comeswith a whisper, a lie
that sounds a little too closeto the truth.
(00:46):
So todaywe're exposing that lie,
and I'm going to show you howto fight back.
Well, let’s start here.
Your mind is the mostvaluable territory
in your spiritual life.
(01:08):
I’m going to back that upbecause what you think shapes
how you live.
Romans 12 (01:14):
2 says, “Do
not be conformed to this world,
but be transformedby the renewing
of your mind.” Noticeit doesn’t say
renew your behavior.
First it says renew your mindbecause transformation
starts in the thought life.
I don't think that's too hardfor us to understand.
(01:34):
That happens all the time to me.
You got to control what you'rethinking about.
Guess what?
The enemy knows that.
Ephesians 6 (01:41):
12 reminds us
that we're not “fighting
against flesh and blood”.
It's not just the mediaor the politicians
or your toxic coworker.
This is a spiritual battle.
So if your mind feelsunder attack, it's
because it probably is.
So let's talk abouthow the enemy fights.
(02:05):
Satan's numberone weapon is deception.
We go all the way backto Genesis 3
and he shows his handright up front.
He says, “Did God really say...”to Adam and Eve
that was his move in the gardenand it's still his move.
Now he doesn't need toget you to deny God.
(02:26):
He just need you to startdoubting him subtly.
An example of this,
Jesus said in John 8 (02:33):
44
that the devil is the father
of lies, and that when he lies,he's speaking
his native language.
So let that sink in.
The great deceiver.
This is what the enemy does.
He doesn't kick down the doorscreaming.
(02:56):
He just twists what's trueuntil it starts
to sound familiar.
Comfortable, harmless.
That's the danger.
Let me give you a fewmodern examples.
How about follow your heart?
Sounds cute,
but Jeremiah 17 (03:14):
9 says, “the
heart is deceitful
above all things”.
How about God just wants meto be happy?
Actually,he wants you to be holy.
And sometimes holinesscosts some comfort.
(03:35):
What about.
I just can't forgive myself.
Well, that's not in the Bible.
God's forgiveness is enough.
Period.
How about.
My identity isbased on how I feel.
That's not identity.
That's instability.
Identity iswho God says you are.
(03:56):
See how subtle it can be?
The enemy isn't just attackingyour faith.
He's attackingyour entire framework.
He wants you to measure truthby your emotions,
to filter Scripturethrough our culture,
to trade convictionfor your comfort.
(04:16):
Let me speakto something a lot of us
wrestle with.
Do you ever think, why am I so anxious?
Why can't I stopthinking these thoughts?
And why do I feelstuck in this cycle?
Sometimes you start thinkingthat you're crazy,
but you're not crazy.
(04:37):
You're in a war.
Second Corinthiansten four through five says this.
The weapons we fight withare not the weapons
of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine powers
to demolish strongholds.
We demolish argumentsand every pretension
that sets itself up against theknowledge of God.
(04:59):
And we take captiveevery thought
to make it obedient to Christ.
That means we justdon't let our thoughts run wild.
We have to interrogate them.
If it doesn't line upwith God's Word.
It doesn't belong in your mind.
That's easy to say, right?
(05:19):
But it's true.
So how do we fight this war?
Well, I'm going to give you fourpractical ways.
First of all,we have to recognize the lie.
So we have to ask ourselves, who told me that?
Was it culture?
Was it a past wound?
(05:40):
Was it a manipulative voiceor the voice of truth?
Secondly, we have to reclaimthe truth.
Jesus fought the enemyin the wilderness
with one phrase,just one phrase.
It is written.
(06:00):
Get in the word.
Read your Bible.
Speak the word.
Stand on the word.
You don't need anotherself-help book.
You needthe sword of the spirit.
Number threerenew your mind daily.
This isn't a one time fix.
It's a daily discipline.
(06:21):
We have to start our morningwith Scripture before scrolling.
We have to replace the lieswith truth.
And we have to do it on purpose.
Number four,reinforce your identity.
You're not your failures.
You're not your feelings.
You're not whatthe enemy says you are.
(06:45):
If you're in Christ, you are loved.
You're chosen.
You're equippedand you're sealed.
Don't fight like a victim.
When God has already madeyou victorious.
Another challenge, right?
So let me ask you this.
What lie have you beenbelieving lately?
(07:07):
That you'll never change.
That you're too broken.
Maybe that God's tired of you.
Or maybe it's thatyou let your past define you.
Whatever it is, today is the dayto break into the light.
(07:28):
This week,I want to challenge you.
Identify one lie you've believedand replace it with some truth
from God's Word.
Write it down.
Speak it out loud.
Pray it over yourself.
You're not powerless.
And you're not alone.
And you're not too far gone.
(07:52):
You just need tostop believing the lie.
Start fighting like youbelieve the truth.

and we want to encourage youalong the way because it's a
tough journey.

But never forgetto guard your mind
because that's where the battleis happening
(08:36):
and the battle is real.
But so is the victory.
Take care and God bless.
