Ty Cobb Backer (00:00):
Oh, and we are live.
Welcome back everybody toBehind the Tool Belt, episode
273.
Thank you so much for joiningus on this magnificent Wednesday
.
It's about 60 degrees and sunnyout here in the great state of
Pennsylvania.
Vic, my amigo, the man, themyth behind the scenes is

(00:26):
actually driving my vehicle andwhich I'm not very used to, and
it's not really scary butsomething that I could probably
get used to.
But anyhow, we're on our wayout to a GAF event and we
thought, instead of waiting orpostponing or doing this early,

(00:48):
we thought we would go ahead anddo this, stream this live, do
something a little bit different.
On our way out to the GAF eventout in Columbia, ohio, which we
are meeting our great friend andour partner, chris Hofstra,
with Lead Scout, we'll have aLead Scout booth set up and not

(01:10):
exactly sure because what's tocome of this If this works out?
This is the first time we everdid anything like this.
We have cameras set up in thetruck.
We're streaming live from myiPad and I'm not exactly sure
how this will turn out, but youknow how we roll and it's funny
thing is so, dick and I we'vebeen on the road for, I don't

(01:32):
know, probably only an hour andwe stopped at a rest station
rest stop and as I was gettingout of the vehicle and we did a
little shiny fire drill gear andI jumped in the passenger seat
Vic was jumping in the driver'sseat I thought to myself like,
dude, vic, you and I have beenthrough some shit and there is

(01:55):
not much, if anything, and withChris Baker, when it pertains to
Beyond the Tool Belt, inToolbelt, but in general in life
, there's not much that you andI, when we put our heads
together, that we have not beenable to accomplish.
You know and this is just oneof many things you know to come,

(02:15):
and many you know things thatwe've accomplished over the
years together.
You know, even prior to usteaming up with beyond tool belt
, d spacker, lead scout and allthe things that you know, we
kind of get ourselves involvedwith and and most of the time
it's it's me getting us involved.
And I even said something tojanna last night like yeah, I

(02:37):
got us into something else, youknow, and she's like, no, no,
it's fine.
You know, like all thesupporters let the support.
You know everybody, and youknow I was kind of hoping what
we could do is bring people in.
But unfortunately, from my andalthough I might be able to
bring it up on my phone and, youknow, make it like a Q&A, ask

(02:59):
hi, anything on the road, because if this goes off the way
that we think this is going togo off, we're also going to be
traveling next Wednesday as well.
So we'll be streaming live fromthe cockpit of my truck on our
way to Atlantic City and if youjust catch us now on this, we're
on our way out to Columbia, ohio.
I kept telling everybody we'regoing to Columbus.

(03:21):
I don't know why.
I was thinking we were going toColumbus, but we are not
heading to Columbus, we areheading out to Columbia.
No, we're heading to Columbus,we're heading to Columbus.
I'm sorry, I'm all screwed,screwed up.
We've been traveling at leastonce a week doing these quick
little one night trips.
Gaf was so gracious to allow usto travel with them at their

(03:43):
events and it's been.
It's been phenomenal.
Gaf has so gracious to allow usto travel with them at their
events and it's been phenomenal.
Gaf has been a great partner ofdecent backer and has been a
great partner of Fleet Scout.
So hopefully you guys can hearme, I'm going to actually try to
go to my page and see ifthere's anybody there.
Right, fleet Scout.
So who's saying who?

(04:04):
You guys, okay, okay, good, there, right, beach gal, you
guys, okay, okay, good, allright.
For some reason I lost my my uhtrauma.
So quickly, call service.
What's happening?
But hopefully you guys can hearus.
Once we figure this out, it'llget a little better.
Let's try to see you guys canhear us.
Once we figure this out, it'llget a little better.

(04:25):
Let's try to see if I can tripup from the back.
Okay, so we're back, plus two.
We're going up through, uh,kitty mountain and all that
stuff, so we may end up goingthrough a tunnel and losing you
guys.
But anyhow, I was kind ofhoping we could get somebody to
come in and, uh, I think whathappened was is when I tried to

(04:48):
get on the page from my phone.
Again, this has kind of beenexperiment, but, um, I guess you
guys are gonna have to just putup with me and Vic for probably
the next 30 or 40 minutes as weproduce this podcast, and
that's the thing, that's theunique thing, and we are
actually getting ready to gothrough the Tuscarora Mountain
Tunnel.
So if we lose you guys.

(05:09):
Hang in there real quick.
Vic is going to put the pedalto the metal and get us through
this as safely as possible.
As you can see, we are bothwearing our seatbelts.
We are now actually inside theTuscarora Mountain Tunnel on our
way to Columbia.
So before I, you know, dig intoa topic or anything like that,

(05:30):
I'm just going to, you know, point out the excitement of the
GAF event that we're heading outto, and if you're not familiar
with LeadScout, what it does, the capabilities and new
features that have been launched, don't hesitate to hit me up in
Messenger.
If you are a door-to-doorsalesperson and you're looking

(05:53):
to organize or enhance yoursales at the door, please don't
hesitate to reach out to me andI can explain to you or give you
a brief rundown on what LeadScout can do for you as an
individual but, most importantly, for your company.
So, anyhow, hopefully we'restill live.

(06:14):
We didn't lose anybody oranything like that, but I think
it's pretty unique, or actuallypretty cool, that we made it
through, made it through thetunnel and didn't lose signal.
So, anyhow, since I can't getanybody in here and I don't want
to mess with this too much andget cut off here, but we'll mess

(06:36):
with that at a different timeto see if we can't bring people
in.
I noticed that there's at leastsix of you watching right now,
at least on my personal Facebookpage, and we will post this to
YouTube and Google Play, appleand all that good stuff.
So maybe next time I'll driveand Vic can be at the helm of

(06:58):
the controls here with thepodcast and stuff.
But anyhow, we're reallyexcited about this new form of
content that we're going to beproducing, so we're going to be
doing more things like this.
We're not just going to be instudio on Wednesdays.
We have a lot of things cooking, so please pay attention and
watch.
Vic is is thirsting a lot ofcontent.

(07:19):
There'll be a lot of thingsthat he'll be posting that we've
been working on, and one ofthem is going to be like a a
probably like a a taxi cabconfession, a lot like we're
doing right now.
We're going to.
We've been working on brick bybrick, which is like a spin off
of behind a tool belt, butwithin the behind a tool belt

(07:41):
platform, you'll be able to goto our Behind the Tool Belt
YouTube page and be able tolisten to me and my thoughts of
you know, business thought, leadership, personal development
and just really probably mostlymy opinion on a lot of topics
that we usually don't discuss orget as deep on, I guess, during

(08:06):
our normal, you know, wednesdayafternoon lives, and a lot of
this will just be recorded, notedited.
Probably, just if it's an hourof me running my mouth, vic will
probably cut it up into like 10, 20 minute segments.
That way you guys don't getbored, because we understand
that your time is valuable andit's tough to pay attention and

(08:27):
listen to a complete podcast.
We might actually, I think overhere I might actually be able to
see some comments.
Oh, I can.
There's Kim Smith.
So if you guys have anycomments or questions that you
want to ask me, I actually justpulled up the comment section
here.
Hi, kim, hopefully you guys canhear us.
Please put in the comments ifyou can hear us or not.

(08:49):
I'm sure reception might be alittle spotty as we go through
the mountains and through thetunnels and stuff like that, but
I think I want to talk aboutthe.
The, at least for this second isand did I explain enough about
you, about some of the newcontent, stuff that we have
coming up?
Okay, okay, so can we getanybody to share it out?

(09:10):
Oh yeah, so if you're out there, obviously, or normally, we
share these out to all theFacebookers.
So if you guys are out therelistening right now and you
think there's somebody out therethat may need to hear this on a
weekly basis maybe notnecessarily this episode please
share this with them becausereally we're just trying to make

(09:30):
an impact.
You know, not necessarily onjust the roofing industry.
Of course we're roofers thathost the podcast.
This is not a roofing podcast, like we don't sit here all day
long talking about, you know, driving, nails and shingle types
and you know wind warrantiesand things like that.

(09:53):
Of course we know all aboutthat.
If you guys ever have anyquestions, please post them in
the comment section below andI'll answer any of those
questions to the best of myability.
But mostly it's about personaldevelopment, thought leadership,
you know, impacting otherpeople with our actions.
Right, and usually we talkabout the positive impact that

(10:15):
we can have, but we also talkabout the stuff that might not
be so positive and stuff thatmost people don't like to share
on social media, like the woesand the changing of the seasons.
You know, like the universe andMother Nature goes through
different seasons.
Right, there's a spring, wherethings start to blossom, things

(10:39):
start to get green, things startto grow, the smells are
different, and then there'swinters right, the complete
polar opposite of spring green, things start to grow, the smells
are different, and then there'swinters.
Right, the complete polaropposite right of spring.
And a lot of times you know usas human beings we go through
seasons and not necessarilyalways align with those seasons.
It could be summer, august,mid-august, hot you know where.

(11:05):
You know you would think wouldbe a joyful time in most
people's lives.
But we as human beings tend togo.
Our seasons don't necessarilyalways align.
And what sticks out to me, and alot of you have heard me talk
about, like the season that Iwent through when my mom passed
and what compiled that and Ithink what extended that was,

(11:26):
you know, first and foremost itwas uncontrolled.
There was an uncontrollablesituation that I couldn't
control.
My mom was sick and then, sixmonths shortly after that,
jana's mom passed away.
And I'll be honest with you.
You know, as most human beings, when bad things happen to us,
it's like right away we justwant to point the finger.
It's got to be somebody else'sfault.

(11:47):
It's not my fault and in thiscase, I was mad.
I didn't even know who I wasmad at, but I was mad at God at
that time in my life and I waspushing people out of my life.
There's a support group that Iattend and I was pushing them
out of my life.
There's a support group that Iattend and I was pushing them
out of my life.
And it was real.

(12:10):
I felt like there was a darkcloud over me for a while and
the craziest thing and this iswhat I want to talk about with
seasons not aligning with theuniversal seasons that we get to
experience, with the changingof, you know, fall and into
winter, and which are all goodthings that need to happen and

(12:33):
my point is is that it sucked atthe time and honestly and I
think Jana and I both were goingthrough this for like a three
year, 36 months we went throughwhere it just felt like this
dark cloud.
I wasn't very excitable, youknow.
I was just kind of likemelancholy, you know, not even

(12:55):
necessarily content, notnecessarily irritable and
discontented, but but just andit I was probably more so
irritable and discontented thanI was melancholy or content, you
know, and.
But I was just kind of goingthrough the motions, right, and
we briefly listened to a podcastand the guy was talking about

(13:17):
like, when you wake up, are youwaking up with purpose?
Are you waking up excited?
Are you waking up excited?
Are you waking up, you know, ready to take on the world with
purpose and with some form ofstructure and goals and set in
mind?
Are you waking up with zeropurpose and just going with the

(13:43):
flow and dealing with thingslike not even being proactive?
You know, and I feel like inthat time I was just kind of
waking up and going through themotions and it wasn't a very
growth.
At that time I didn't realize Iwas going through pain.
There's growth, but I don't, Ididn't realize that at the time
I just thought it was a realshitty time of my life and um,

(14:05):
um, and when I was talking aboutpushing people out of my life
and and and I'm, I'm, I.
I believe in God.
I'm sorry if there's somebodyon here that that may not agree
or disagree.
I just I know that there's apower out there greater than
myself and I just choose to callit God, whether it's a group of
drunks.
Good, orderly direction and andand or a gift of desperation,

(14:30):
g-o-d.
So today I decided I justchoose to follow God.
Okay, I know that somewhere outthere in the universe that
something has been watching overme.
I do know that.
And what I had discoveredthrough that pain and through
that growth because fortunatelyI didn't grieve with it very
well, how I grieved with it wasone I learned from that.

(14:52):
Like I didn't grieve with itvery well, how I grieved with it
was one I learned from that.
Like I need to grieve thingsand I need to get out of my
system, and some of that was dueto my grieving for as long as I
grieve is that I wasn't sharingit with anybody, nobody.
I didn't even talk about it, Ididn't even cry.
I stuffed it.
I stuffed it and then how itstarted to come out was there
was other situations in my lifewhere it would veer its ugly

(15:15):
head, where I would blow thingsout of proportion, right, and
I'm like where's all thisanxiety and fear and sadness
coming from?
And I had realized that it wasfrom stuffing.
And my point and the thing thatI want to point out is is that
we tend as adults, as children,we tend to block things and then

(15:37):
when we get older and we getand become adults, like that,
that tends to define who we are,the amount of stuff or trauma
that we experience as childrenand not sharing it or working on
it or even praying about itRight, but for me, sharing it
with another human being andgetting back to the point where
I was pushing people out of mylife, right, so my higher power,

(16:00):
you know, speaks to me.
Not I don't hear voices, but itlike speaks to me, like in in
books that I read through people, right, like so if I read
through people, right, like so,if I a problem shared with
someone is a problem, cut path, right, and I just felt like I

(16:21):
didn't want people to think thatI was weak and or pity me and
poor Ty, but I'm the one thatsuffered through those 36 months
of going through that crap.
And I mean it was crap, okay, and uh, it was because I was
bottling it up and yeah, ofcourse Janet and I would talk
about it, but it was like wewere both like sitting at our

(16:43):
shit and and I wasn't opening upto my support group.
I have a support group of menand women mostly men that I've
leaned on to consult with, tofind answers business, you know,
answers and solutions and otherissues in my life.

(17:03):
But for whatever reason, I heldon to this and the moment I
started to kind of like let goand let God was the moment I
realized that I started to pushGod out of my life.
The moment I started to pushthese people out of my life
because my higher power and notto keep digging down into this,
this God hole that I'm I'm inright now, but I'm just, I'm

(17:26):
sharing my experience because, you know, screw the glam shots,
you know that everybody pairslike life is good.
No, it sucks at times.
Life really sucks and we gothrough so much shit and I think
we feel like as men, especiallymen, and I'm not I'm not trying
to push women out of thisequation, because I watched

(17:49):
Jenna go through it too but Ithink for me as a man, it's
difficult for me to share myproblems with other people
because I don't.
It's ego, it's uh, you know, uh, my pride gets in the way,
because I don't want you tothink I'm weak, because I'm

(18:10):
being vulnerable.
But one of the other lessons Ilearned was is the more
vulnerable that I am, especiallywith my team and coworkers and
and uh, my friends, you know, and people that support me and
love me, uh, the the morestronger not only does that
relationship become, and themore open, but the more we can

(18:34):
achieve, the more transparentand more vulnerable that I am,
because I want to deal witheverything.
I take that into every aspectof my life, that I can do this.
No one can do it better than me.
I'm going to deal with thegrieving of my mom, and there's
a lot of good things that cameout of that.
Our charitable events picked upmy, my empathy for people, um,

(18:59):
how to cope with grieving loss, and we can deal with loss on
many different levels.
It doesn't necessarily mean aloss of a loved one.
It could be a change at work.
It could be, um, uh, I wreckedmy car and I have to get a new
car.
It's like we grieve and wedon't even know that we're
grieving with these things, right, and we, we stuff it.

(19:21):
Or they could go to the otherside where and I'm sure we've
all been around these peoplethat just won't shut the fuck up
, quite frankly, right, andthat's when it's kind of like
please shut the fuck up If youdon't like where you're at,
please do something about it,change something in your life,
right, like, stop bitching aboutit, but see, that's where I go.
Like I don't want to be thatWendy Weiner either.

(19:42):
So then again I'll bottle thatshit back up.
But if you're venting, and it'snot even venting, it's like,
hey man, I really need to sharesomething with you, man, because
you know, either I'm going todrink, I'm in a bad spot, I
can't function well, I'm notparenting well, I'm not, I'm not
being a good significant other, right, all of these things that

(20:03):
we try to deal with on our ownaffect every aspect our sleeping
, our eating habits, our workingout patterns, all of those
things.
And you know, and where I'm kindof at right now I'm not thank
goodness we are coming out ofwinter and I do I do kind of go
through like a seasonalsituational depression.

(20:25):
So of course my spirits are upbecause my, my seasons are kind
of aligned with the universalseasons, fortunately right now.
But I'm quicker to respond, notreact, you know, respond to
when I start to feel things, youknow, and I work out, I try to

(20:45):
eat the best that I could, thatI possibly can, and I I start to
feel a difference either way,if I'm working, if I'm not
working out, or if I'm workingout on a regular basis, and
these are tools and mechanismsthat I've put in place for me to
deal with stress, right To um,get a good night's uh sleep and

(21:08):
and um.
And because this, the bottomline is, is like I'm not on, I
have not been put on this earthto be a miserable person, like
we're not built to be miserable, right, and when you come across
the miserable person like wegot a client right now that just
we feel like we just can't, nomatter what we do, we can't get
happy, and one of theconversations I had this morning

(21:30):
with Glenn was about you know, unfortunately, this has nothing
to do with us and it'sunfortunate that this older
person, who's retired, has notidentified the things that I'm
sharing with you on how to dealand cope and what is actually
going on with us.
And typically, what's happeningtoday isn't something that I'm

(21:53):
going through today.
It's something that I allowedto control me, that happened to
me later.
Then this is the other thingtoo.
It's like our outsideenvironment doesn't necessarily
dictate how I feel today.
Unless I allow that to, it'sabout what I've done, the
exercise and the you know inexercising.
When I'm talking aboutexercising exercising I'm
talking about like, what contentand media am I feeding myself?

(22:17):
Right, if I'm watching Fox News, cnn, msnbc and all this other
four shit, with all thenegativity bar, what do you
think's gonna happen?
I'm allowing my outsidecircumstances, I am.
I have a choice.
I have a choice if I turn TV onor not, what content I'm

(22:40):
absorbing.
I would much rather producepositive content myself, quite
frankly, like this, and tellpeople turn the freaking TV off
and start watching.
Behind the Toolbelt, bitch Right, don't be a hoe.
Share the show.
I stole that from Andy Purcell,by the way, but I don't even
know how long we've been on hereand I don't see any questions.

(23:00):
Oh shit, here we go.
There's Zach Gio, victor Needto pull over at a truck stop.
I don't see any questions inhere.
Hey, chris, sorry, I thought Isee any questions in here.
Hey, chris, sorry, I thought Iwas going to be able to pull you
in, but the way that we havestuff set up here, um, julie's
on there, my roof girl's up.
Yeah, thank you for yoursupport.

(23:22):
How will you spend your time?
Complaining about it or doingsomething.
How will you?
Okay, so how would I spend my?
So how would I spend my time?
How would I spend my timeComplaining about it or doing
something about it?
That's the thing Like, if youdon't like your circumstances,
get off your dead ass and dosomething about it, and if you
don't know what to do, that'swhere you simply just raise your

(23:45):
hand.
Raise your hand and asksomebody who's in a position or
a place where you want to be,and this is the other thing too.
Don't judge people's outsides toyour insides either, and I
think that's what social mediahas really done to us.
It is distorted our thinkingand perception to the point

(24:05):
where we feel like we're notmeeting our expectations Because
we see all these glamour shotson social media.
So don't get caught up in thathorseshit either.
Okay, because let me tell you, those people that are usually
posting those posts with theLamborghinis and the bold
watches and all that stuff, trust me, you're probably, they
probably don't want to show youtheir B&O, because this is the

(24:28):
fact your business also goesthrough seasons.
If you're not having acorrection season every three
years or so, then you'reprobably not growing.
And if you're not growing, you're going Right, and that
again, what got us here over thepast three years won't take us
through the next three yearseither.

(24:48):
So, anyhow, again, I don't knowwhat's up.
Jack Hook, how long have we beenon here?
So, if there's any otherquestions, the greatest source
of our suffering are the liesthat we tell ourselves.
Julie, that is great To thy ownself.

(25:09):
Be true.
Right, you know, when we say toourselves that nobody would
know.
We know.
Right, when you have to wake upevery morning and look at
yourself in the mirror, right, and the grimy shit you may have
done at some point in time, thatwill veer its ugly head in one
way, shape or form, whether it'sthe karma and outside
circumstances that are reallyshitty, happening right, and you

(25:31):
ask yourself why is thishappening to me?
Chances are you probably didsomething shitty or you're not
doing something to change thecircumstances.
But I love.
We just saw the other nightsomebody shared with us their
chip and the first thing I sawon it it says did I?
In itself be true, and if youdon't understand what that means

(25:53):
, that means you know, being gut, honest, level, honest with
yourself, like I think we.
We tend to tell ourselves youknow lies, whether good or bad,
like we're much bigger or betterand greater than we really
think we are, or then or we'reless.

(26:14):
That you know, and I think alot of that has to do with the
content that we're consuming andthose, the five, the sum of the
five that we surround ourselves, right that that could either
boast you up or bring you down.
So, just trying to think of anyother, see if there's any other

(26:35):
.
Thank you, Jesus.
That's right, chris.
I was kind of hoping I couldpull you in.
We'll try to figure that outnext time, but I'm very thrilled
that this has worked out.
Hopefully I'm assumingeverybody can hear me, you know,
with the amount of comments inhere and all the love that you
guys are sharing for us rightnow.

(26:55):
But that's kind of where I'm atright.
That's kind of I'm coming outof the winter and we're coming
into spring and I'm physicallyready to start blossoming and
growing and learn a lot of newthings.
And what I've learned, what hasbeen taught to me, is designed
to be, you know, taught tosomebody else.

(27:16):
I'm a firm believer of that.
If I passed away today, whatgood would it be to anybody else
but myself?
And that sounds pretty selfishand I don't want to be a selfish
person.
So any content that I feel thatmight be relevant, I want to
share with other people, anyprograms, any of those things
that you know that I've I'vetried to, you know, instill in

(27:37):
myself.
I tried to.
You know, I was just talking toyou.
We, we were doing an interviewyesterday and, yeah, we're a
roofing company, we do roofingRight, but you know, we don't
only just build roofs, we buildleaders, we build cultures, we
build, you know, people up andand is it?
Is it always perfect?

(27:58):
No, we recently had a personthat that was, that was upset,
and I don't know if they'rewatching this right now and it
was just a reminder of a of aweak spot that we have in our
culture where I feel like weweren't, we weren't uplifting if
we were too quick to point thefingers.
And then one of our core valuesat TC Backer is, um, leave no

(28:23):
one behind.
And and what that means is isthat if we see somebody
struggling, we kind of swoop in.
But not just that.
You know, we don't point thefingers, we don't throw people
under the bus.
We either jump in and grab thebull by the horns and do it

(28:44):
Right If it gets to the extentof, like, this person is just
being defiant and outright notdoing it.
But the chances are, with theculture that we have, that there
was something else more goingon with that.
But you know, again, anotherlearning experience for us, you
know, and that's the stuff.
It's like, yeah, I could say, yeah, tc Packard were great, but

(29:06):
anyhow, with that interviewthis is what I was expressing
and Brian and I shared more ofthe bad stuff.
Like this is hard work.
It's going to be grinding, youknow it's going to be grueling
and a lot of people don't makeit.
You know our expectations foreach other at times and it's a

(29:28):
lot to ask people.
It's probably reallyunrealistic, but when you
surround yourself around enoughunrealistic expectation setting
high performing people, you tendto attract those types of
people, kind of like what I wastalking about with Vic and I
like there's not much that wecan't accomplish and I've

(29:50):
experienced that with Tam,amanda, brian, mike, t, chris
Baker, and the list goes on Sam,kim, jana, rocket.
You know even small projects athome that I'm sure my family
thinks there's no way we'regoing to get this done in a day
or over the weekend or whatever.
I could have did it withouttheir help.
Right, and that's the thingabout teamwork and the culture

(30:11):
building it when leading byexample.
And I know glenn glenn justwent down to delaware yesterday
and finished out for rubber roofjob, him bender and and cody,
right, like how freaking muchmore could you possibly lead by
example?
Well, man, there's all kinds ofcomments.

(30:34):
I'm sorry guys.
Uh, eric aiken's.
Good to see you, brother.
If you're still on here, eric,I wish I could see how long
we've been on here.
We're probably about a half, about a half hour into it.
Uh, so, yeah, that's kind ofwhere I'm at.
We're heading out to columbia, columbus, columbus, ohio, ohio.

(30:56):
This week.
We're going to go out here forthe day we're going to set up
tonight for a lead time.
You want to talk a little bitabout changes coming for the
tour though?
Yeah, if we can dive in that,if you're just tuning in.
So there's some changes comingup.
Our weekly live episode that wedo every single week.

(31:21):
We're going to switch the datesup.
We're not going to switch theday that we actually do it, but
we're probably going to startdoing only one live when it
comes to behind the tool beltand having a guest on the show
Now that doesn't mean we'regoing anywhere Behind the tool
belt.
And having a guest On the showNow it doesn't mean we're going
anywhere.
That just means it's going togive us more time For content

(31:43):
creation and good content likethis To put out there.
It could be things like theLike a taxi cab Convention.
Some of them might only be fiveminutes long, but Vic's going
to be pumping out a boatload ofcontent and those hours that it
takes, because this is the thingthat people don't understand.

(32:05):
You know, we don't just hit thelive button every Wednesday.
It starts at eight o'clock inthe morning, so after 1.30,
every Wednesday that thathappens, so that time right.
We're going to make better useof that time to create more
content.
So you'll see more things likethis.

(32:25):
You'll be seeing me doing morelives for my personal page and
producing, you know, content inthat way.
But the actual behind the toolbelt where we uh, have all
started I think it started ontuesday night, led to wednesday,
um, and then it was 7 pmeastern standard time, and then
it went to noon.
Well, we're kind of switchingthings up a little bit because

(32:47):
we don't want you guys to sufferfrom viewer fatigue.
I don't want you to get tiredof our content either.
Um and plus, it'll give us moretime to get better, better
guests on our show.
Right, because not that theguests, I shouldn't even say
better guests, but we're really, you know, we're kind of.
We've had people on the showtwice, sometimes three times.

(33:09):
Well, there's a lot of peoplethat have been reaching out to
us that are in the trade space, not even necessarily the roofing
industry, but like salescoaches and professionals that
want to come on.
My good buddy, woody, is comingon the show, I think in April.
He owns a dent auto repair.

(33:29):
Dent auto repair body auto bodyrepair shop repair.
Dent auto repair body auto bodyrepair shop.
Look, he deals with insuranceclaims, just like we do in the
roofing industry.
So just about every event thatwe're at, woody's there.
Right, because he's builtrelationships, a referral

(33:54):
program.
Right, because chances are, iftheir car has suffered damage
from a hailstorm, so is theirroof.
Or vice versa, if their roofhas suffered, you know, storm
damage, the chance the chancesare that their car has also
suffered some damage.
So Woody's coming on the show.
Uh, I got to spend Vic and Igot to spend some good quality,

(34:14):
um, uh, inspirational time withhim at Erico's event, xl event
in Cayman Islands and him andVic.
Actually, you know I've knownWoody but Vic and Woody had kind
of just, like you know, galvanized a really good
relationship.
But I know those guyscommunicate on a regular basis.
So Woody's coming on the show, woody's got some great guests.

(34:38):
So we're going to be switchingthings up.
We're going to have somedifferent guests coming on the
show from the trades, but notnecessarily just the roofing
space, and we're not switchingfrom that format whatsoever.
We're still going to have theDeshaun Bryants, the David
Taggers, the Ericos.
All of those people are stillgoing to come on the show
because they're actually the, the, the, the first early

(35:01):
adopters.
And since we didn't get to doour, our, our intros, I want, I
want to give a big shout out toHook Agency.
To anybody that's looking toimprove their, their SEOs, uh,
their website, hook up, reachout to Tim Brown or Jack Hook
over at the Hook Agency.
Incredible, incredible guy,incredible company, incredible

(35:26):
culture.
That totally aligns witheverything that we try to do
here at LeadScout and TC Backer.
Big shout out to LeadScout.
Leadscout was an early adopter, great partners.
If anybody's looking for acanvassing, tracking sales
enhancement tool that has apicture taking feature that you

(35:47):
can put notes in.
You can set statuses, you canput tags on every door that you
knock, even if you did knock itand you just want to go back to
it and revisit it.
You can set all kinds ofstatuses.
If you do get the inspection, you can put notes in there.
You can put tags in there, allkinds of stuff.
So anytime you want to knowmore about that, reach out to me

(36:09):
or my partner, chris Hofstra.
Okay, rufo, mike Goldenstein andRebecca Freaking phenomenal
company.
Joe Huffman, an amazing leader,an inspiration to a lot of us,
especially me, myself and Travisand Mike being early adopters

(36:33):
for sponsorship on Behind thetool belt.
Love you guys, love, love, thesupport that you guys have
always shown us uh and, and Ihope that our our relationship
has as reciprocal as as yourshas been uh to us.
So thank you guys.
And then, of course, the, theOG, tc Backer construction and

(36:58):
the entire TC Backer family.
We would have never been ableto do this, nor would we have
ever thought of it, if itwouldn't be the impact that
we're trying to have on ourlocal communities.
Big shout out to Chris Baker, one of the original OG founders,
co-producer, co-host of Beyondthe Tool Belt, and you know

(37:20):
we're really excited about thisnew direction that we're taking.
You know, new heights, newlevels.
We're going to experiment,we're going to do all kinds of
crazy shit, like we're doingtoday.
We're going to try to figureout how to get live from an
airplane.
You know we got some greatrelationships with some.
You know transportationcompanies.
You know if we might be on theRabbit Transit going down.

(37:43):
You know George Street inNewark, who knows we might be in
Austin on, you know, in publictransportation there.
Like, there's going to be a lotof exciting things and we're
really stepping this thing up.
So please stay tuned, please.
If you haven't liked, loved, subscribed, please do that.
We would appreciate that.

(38:03):
If there's anything that you'veheard on this podcast that you
think somebody should listen orhear this, please share this
with them.
And we appreciate everybody'slove, or we wouldn't be doing
this if it wasn't for you guys.
So hopefully this was ashelpful to you as it is
basically therapeutic for me tokind of get things off my chest

(38:26):
sometimes as well.
But thank you so much fortuning in every week.
We appreciate everybody fortuning in and watching this and
listening to us run our mouth.
Vic, is there anything else thatyou want to share?
Are you bringing back localbusinesses?

(38:58):
Great, freaking question.
Yes, we are.
We're bringing back localbusinesses.
I don't know how far outside ofthe trades we're going to go
yet, but as far as bringing in,you know, maybe Mike Lowe's with
Regal Plumbing, you know, obviously we've had Chris Parkey

(39:19):
on the show, but there's a lotof great people, especially
local companies, that havesupported us in many ways than
one, whether through ourcharitable events, through
referrals, through the network.
Right, I could that'd be awhole podcast.
The network, you know, is ournet worth.
Maybe we'll talk about that onthe way to Atlantic City next

(39:39):
week and potentially maybe we'llfigure out how to pull this in.
It might actually be easier forme to do it on my phone, I
don't know, but we're going tofigure that out.
That's what's cool about this.
Nobody says we can't do whatwe're doing, right, we're just
trying to think outside the boxhere a little bit and I strongly
suggest you do that in yourlife today.
Right, if you want the car, gobuy the freaking car.

(40:01):
Right, if you want, if you wantwhatever it is.
Not only, the only thingholding you back is the six inch
between your ears.
Right, that's it.
So, vic and I we've, a month ortwo ago, we're like dude, what's
next Right?
Not that I was gettingcomplacent, but it's like,
unfortunately, I was getting toocomfortable with it.

(40:23):
And, if you know me,comfortability is where dreams
die.
Right, that is the place, thatis the planet Planet.
Comfortable right is wheredreams go to freaking die.
I'm gonna turn the air on, takecare, okay, I'm gonna turn the

(40:43):
hair on.
You care, hold up anyhow.
Don't go to planet freakingfitness.
No, I'm just kidding.
Go to planet fitness.
You want to.
You want a better physique, youwant a better body.
Like you're the only oneholding you back.
You know what I mean.
So comfortability was startingto set in and ask for, you know,

(41:04):
and I really want to get backto the grassroot bootstrap,
podcasting, question askingwhere we came from right,
question asking where we camefrom right and really just take
this thing to the streets, really take this thing to the
events that were.
Yeah, I know we were doinginterviews at the events and all

(41:26):
that stuff and all that wasstructured and timed out and
wasn't so it was like oneextreme to the next.
It's like you know, we're justgoing to we're a thing outside
the box and we're gonna getsuper uncomfortable.
You know, that's that's whatcoming out of the winter
season's doing for us right now.

(41:46):
So what a better time than on afreaking Wednesday to go live
from my truck.
Have cameras set up in here.
There'll be more cameras in thetruck.
We might even be traveling withour guests.
Depends on where we're at.
We may have our guests in thevehicle with us at the time as
we're doing podcasts.
So we're having fun.

(42:07):
We're having fun with this.
So there's a topic you guys wantto hear, please, by all means.
Okay, you were agreeing withwhat I was saying, no doubt.
Well, I tried to answer, butthank you for agreeing with me.
Love that 25 minutes on.

Well, columbus, columbus, ohio, home of the ohio state.

(42:49):
There you go, we're going,we're gonna.
We're staying at the hyatttonight.
Um, so, chris, or or Tim, if Idon't know how far Minnesota is
from IELTS, but I know Hofstrais driving from Michigan or in
Rapids, about a five-hour driveGet your ass in your car.
Get your ass in your car andget down here and see us at the

(43:09):
GAF event.
I'll get you a ticket.
Do you need me to register you?
I will no problem, I'd love toregister you.
I will no problem.
Um, I'd love to see you there.
That would be.
That would be.
That actually be freakingphenomenal.
Tell me, throw jack in the cartoo.
So, hey, zane, let carl knowthat we're gonna be in columbus,

(43:31):

(43:52):

answered just about everybody'squestion on here.
So until next week, come upwith your questions.
We're going to be doing the samething, heading to AC, and I'm
sure you're going to see morecontent coming out, produced by

(44:15):
Victor Urie, my man, the myth, the legend, the man behind the
scenes, the gracious, mosthumblest, dude and politest guy.
Well, it's Facebook.

Uh, hopefully I'm still on theair.

Yeah, it's just a lot.

you try to figure shit out onthe fly.

(45:39):
Figure shit out on the flywhile I'm going live.
