And I'm glad you asked, which isof course why you're here.

We are going to be doing apumpkin spice creamer.
Yes, it is spooky season.
I'm recording this in October,and it's fall where I am, and
Halloween is just around thecorner, and it's pumpkin
everything.
And I'm always looking for newand interesting ways to
incorporate a little pumpkininto my life.
(01:08):
Sadly, my kids have grown and Ilive in a rural area, so no
trick-or-treaters.
So alas, I have not carved apumpkin this year.
There is always something funabout carving pumpkins.
I've had opportunities to do itin the last couple years with
other folks, but this year Ijust haven't gotten around to
it.
And I mean, it's not reallywhat's the point when you know
nobody's coming to your house?
I can tell you my 94-year-oldfather does not give a shit
(01:32):
about any of that stuff.
But the one thing that I reallymiss about carving pumpkins is
the roasted pumpkin seeds.
Literally my favorite part.
I would always carve a pumpkinwith the fam, and then I would
gather all the seeds and roastthem, and we'd be enjoying them
for the week leading up toHalloween.
I have done an episode oninfusing pumpkin seeds as well,

if that's something that you'dlike to do.
It's pretty easy, of course.
Another nice way to incorporatea little cannabis into your life
without too much thought oreffort.
But no matter how you enjoythem, that's one of my favorite
parts.
Now I will be going out forHalloween because it's on a
Friday night, and a friend askedme if I wanted to go out and
maybe even dress up.
And so while we will beresponsible middle-aged ladies

and going home at a reasonablehour, I may be donning a costume
after all this year, even thoughI won't be handing out any candy
at the door.
And to be honest, that's finewith me as well, because I have
done many a year, like I'm suremany of you listening, have
bought candy to hand out forHalloween, only to have to
resupply yourself closer to thedate because you ate it all.

Am I alone in this?
Please tell me I'm not.
Before we do, I had theopportunity recently to go to an
event in Toronto at the CoffeeOyster Champagne Bar.
It was an event hosted byEmerald Hour, which is a

Canadian cannabis beveragecompany that has recently
launched a new line of edibles,rosin-based edibles.
Emerald Hour is alsorosin-based.
And I got this invite to theevent, not really sure what to
expect.
I don't get to go to thesethings too often.
It's always a pleasure when Iget invited.
And I gotta say, I wasimpressed.

I had such a great time.
I brought a friend who is not atypical cannabis consumer.
We've talked about weed lots,but I'm actually have a friend
group right now, lovely humanbeings.
I'm so blessed to have wonderfulfriends in my life.
But they don't consume cannabis.
I'm alone in this mission.
However, for this night, she wasgoing to be adventurous with me

and she joined me as a plus one.
They had cannabis cocktails ontap all evening.
I shouldn't say on tap.
They were made by the bartender.
You got to choose your infusionlevel so you could have decide
how what the potency was basedon your preference.
And then they would smoke thecocktails.
The one I remember the most isthe rosemary, which was the

whole experience was just sobeautiful.
And my friend did imbibe.
She had a great time.
And now I'm thinking, hey, maybeshe'll want to do this again and
we can hang out again and enjoysome beverages or some edibles
now that she's feelingcomfortable enough to do that
and in a public place.
Because let's not forget,friends, that set and setting
applies just as much to yourcannabis usage as it does to,

say, psychedelic substances.
Because it gets talked a lotabout in psychedelics, but it
applies to cannabis as well.
So she was comfortable enough toconsume.
I had some of the I had one ofthe new Emerald Hour gummies.
It was delicious.
I was actually really impressedby it.
As somebody who has eaten a lotof legal market gummies, these
ones were really good.
And I like the fact, of course,that they're using live rosin as

the method of infusion asopposed to a distillate, which
you see so commonly.
I think that edibles makers arereally now starting to up their
game.
The entire evening I had thecocktails, they were handing out
some of these gummies, they hada candy bar, the they were
playing the baseball gamebecause at the time of this
event, the Blue Jays were in theseries.

It was the last game of theseries before going to the World
Series.
So for those of you who don'tlisten, don't really care about
baseball, the Blue Jays are theonly Canadian team in the Major
League Baseball League.
So, I mean, who else do you rootfor?
The vibes were amazing.
There was no alcohol at all atthis event, live jazz.
The whole thing was just so welldone.
And I really feel as thoughCanada needs these spaces that

are dedicated to cannabis forthose who want to be in that
atmosphere.
Again, it was a champagne bar,so obviously they typically
serve alcohol, but all thebeverages were non-alcoholic.
And it was such a good vibe.
Well done, Emerald Hour.
Why don't we have these types ofconsumption spaces?

I don't know.
It would be so easy.
There was lots of people whowere going outside to smoke
cannabis as well, not an issue.
But if you weren't wanting tosmoke or vape, you could stay
inside and enjoy edibles andinfused cocktails, the
atmosphere.
Why Canada doesn't have theseyet, I don't know.
This was a private event, sothis is how they were able to be
able to serve the cannabis.
We just marked seven years oflegalization on October 17th.

Still not cannabis spaces.
I think there's a need for it.
More the more I talk to folkstoo, the more I realize that
they are giving up drinking ordrinking just substantially less
because every time you open thenews, there's some article or
some story or video about howalcohol is not healthy for you.
I think the last one I saw was alink between alcohol and

dementia.
And having seen some people gothrough the ravages of dementia,
I can tell you that I wouldn'twish that on anybody.
And that was a super fun event.
And I'm really glad that I gotthe invite and was able to go.
Now I did want to ask, speakingof being in downtown Toronto,
because when we were taking thetrain back to our little town,

there was a concert getting out.
And I just wanted to ask you,folks, as a fun segue before we
get into this week's episode,what musical artists do you hate
to admit that you actually like?
And I'll start with this one.
I would almost say that there'smany folks in Canada who may
feel this way, but the answer isNickelback.
Nickelback is a Canadian band.

It's the band that people loveto hate, and yet they have a lot
of catchy bangers.
A lot of catchy tunes that manypeople know.
So let's talk about this pumpkinspice creamer.
I have had three cups of coffeewith it in today, so I'm flying
(07:45):
pretty high without any cannabisat the moment.
Although it was infused with C BD because I figured if I'm gonna
be putting it in my morningcoffee, uh I don't necessarily
need to start with THC rightfirst thing in the day, but I do
like to start my mornings withCBD.
This also means that I couldshare it with my father.
But I have enough ingredients tomake another batch.

I just wanted to make the batchas called for just to see how it
would turn out.
And if you like pumpkin spicelattes or any of that kind of
thing, I think you'll reallyenjoy this one.
It's not as sweet.
I would say not as artificialtasting.
Obviously, you're making ityourself, so all the ingredients
are simple and from your pantry,you may have to go out and buy a

couple of things.
I'd say the the biggest thingthat you need for this recipe is
spices.
And if you already have those,you're halfway there.
You need heavy cream, so this isnot for those watching calories,
I guess.
You need some canned pumpkin,maple syrup, which was the
(08:50):
infusion point, ground cinnamon,nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, and
vanilla extract.
If you don't have pumpkin piespice, you can easily make that
yourself, which is what I did.
Because I had all theingredients to make pumpkin pie
spice.
I think you needed like morecinnamon, ginger, clove, a
couple things like that.
I'll add it into the show notesso you can make your own if you
want.

Because when I went to the storeto get the cream, I did look to
see if they had pumpkin piespice.
And perhaps because it was afterCanadian Thanksgiving, there was
none left.
Or maybe they never had any tobegin with.
Because I went to the localgrocery store that I can walk to
near my house, and it's prettysmall, so they just don't have
like great selection.
So this one's pretty easy to puttogether with warm spices, real
(09:33):
pumpkin puree, and sweet maplesyrup.
This pumpkin spice creamer addsa taste of fall to your morning
coffee.
It's free of artificialingredients and it's ready in 15
minutes.
I can confirm all of this, andyou don't have to consume it
right away.
I have put some, I bottled it upand put it in the fridge.
So I've been enjoying it for thelast couple of days.

I don't typically put sweetenerin my coffee, but again, it uses
a quarter cup for the wholebatch, so it's not a lot of
sweetener.
And this is again your infusionpoint.
So I did infuse maple syrupbefore starting this whole
process.
And if you've been listening tomy episodes for a while, you
know that I did that in 30minutes instead of two hours,
(10:14):
which made it so much simpler,so much faster.
So I was able to do that, andthen I put together this recipe,
and basically you put it all ina saucepan, all the ingredients
I mentioned a second ago, youheat the mixture till it comes
to a boil, then you reduce theheat, let it simmer for a couple
of minutes, and that's it.
(10:36):
You just want to blend it, stirit to make sure that everything
is blended up smoothly into thecream, and then you take it off
the stove.
You can use it right away, whichI did because I had to test it
out, and then you can allow itto cool to room temperature and
store it for later, which I'vealso done.
And I am now finding reasons whyI should be drinking more coffee
during my day.
(10:56):
I had four cups of coffeeyesterday, you guys.
Four.
Now, I will preface that.
I will I will mention that thatwas two cups of coffee plus two
cups of decaf.
So I at least know that if Iswitch to decaf, I can still at
least sleep in the evening.
So I don't think that's reallythat bad, is it?

Usually I just have two cups ofcoffee, but this stuff was so
good.
I had to have more.
So I've I'm up to three cupstoday.
Two cups of my caffeinated, onecup decaf.
I had one just before I startedthis podcast episode so I could
get in the mood, feel feelingfestive, feeling fall.
This would be a lovely thing tohave if you're having people
(11:40):
over too and you're gonna beserving coffee to people in the
morning as an option.
But for those Americanslistening, Thanksgiving's coming
up.
You might be entertaining, itmight be great for Christmas.
A nice little thing to bring asa thank you to a host.
I just think it's simple, easyto infuse.
You're gonna love it.
Now, you could, of course,infuse the milk if you wanted,
(12:04):
but honestly, when you'reinfusing the syrup, there was no
cannabis taste whatsoever inthis recipe.
If you do find as well thatyou're making it and there isn't
quite enough cannabis contentfor you in the maple syrup, you
could probably always add alittle extra maple syrup if you
wanted.
I did make a little extrabecause as a Canadian, maple
syrup is often coursing throughmy veins.
(12:27):
And I did the calculations.
I did get out my dosing cheatsheet.
I didn't even use my onlinecalculator because, like, I
gotta do this math.
I gotta make sure I've got itdown.
So I was calculating the potencyof my maple syrup as well, and I
wrote it down somewhere and Ican't remember where I put it,
but I used about four grams ofCBD dominant flour, a
Charlotte's Angel, which I haddecarbed previously and then

infused into this maple syrup.
It was four grams of CBD intohalf a cup of maple syrup.
I estimated it that it was about15 grams or sorry, 15% CBD.
I actually, I'm guessing atthat.
I don't really know, but I'malways a little less concerned
about it when it's CBD becauseit's non-intoxicating.
(13:14):
So not to say that you shouldn'tbe careful, but I'm a little
less, I'm a little morecomfortable with the estimations
that you're making when it comesto CBD.
I do have a T-Check kit, theexpansion kit that allows you to
test the potency of the flower,and I may actually do that soon,
but I haven't done that yet, Ihave to admit.
So that were those are theratios I used.

I think it came out to I didwrite it down somewhere.
Damn it.
Anyway, I will link to thedosing sheet as well.
It's like a handy cheat sheetthat you can use to calculate.
It also takes into account theinfusion loss when you're
infusing something, infusinganything, there's going to be a
little bit of loss of potency.
And it's just really handy toknow.
The flour that I used, it washomegrown, so that's why I was

guesstimating.
I wasn't really sure how potentit would be.
But so I highly recommend yougive this a try.
It's so easy, it's so simple.
And what's not to love aboutadding a little bit of cannabis
to your morning coffee?
Doesn't cannabis and coffee goperfectly together?
The CBD just helps calm thenervous system before you start
on a busy day.
And who have I been workinglately?
(14:18):
Let me tell you, I've beenflying high.
I'm planning some projects forBite Me coming up that I'm
excited to share, but I'm notquite ready yet.
I've also been working on a rootball infusion, something we've
been talking about quite a bitin the Bite Me Cannabis Club,
which I invite you to.
It's a beautiful space wherewe're talking about all kinds of
fun things, but root ballinfusions have been discussed
quite a bit.
So I tried my own because Irecently harvested my cannabis
(14:41):
plants.
They were outdoor in soil.
So the most difficult part aboutthat root ball infusion was just
having to get the dirt out ofthe root ball.
That was the most difficultpart.
And then infusing them because Ihad a guest on my show a while
ago now.
I will link to that in the shownotes as well.
And he was making soap withcannabis.
But a lot of the folks in thecannabis club were also talking
(15:03):
about how they found root ballinfusions were really high in
CBG, and they anecdotally foundit very good for making
topicals, actually had betterresults with root ball infusions
included in their pain salves.
So I thought that was reallyinteresting.
And I use topicals every singleday, as I've mentioned before.
(15:24):
I'm a middle-aged lady.
I have the aches and pains ofliving a full and exciting life.
So I use topicals every singleday on my back.
I'm in fact, I found that moreuseful than almost anything
else.
And I've tried other modalitiesfor reducing the back pain that
I experience.
Cannabis topicals, they're easyto make and effective.

So why wouldn't I go that route?
So I'll be experimenting withthat.
