Speaker 1 (00:06):
Greetings, friends.
It's 2025.
And today we're kicking off thenew year with episode 281,
talking about the Bite MeCannabis Club.
Welcome to Bite Me, the showabout edibles, where I help you
take control of your high life.
I'm your host and certifiedgonger, margaret, and I love
helping cooks make safe andeffective edibles at home.

(00:28):
I'm so glad you're here.
Welcome back, friends.
Thank you so much for beinghere.
Welcome to 2025.
This is the first episode ofBite Me in 2025, and I'm pretty
excited about it because I amlooking forward to this year.
I feel like the culmination ofall the work that's been
happening over the last severalyears is really going to hit,

(00:49):
and I'm excited about it.
I'm excited that you're herewith me and I hope that 2025 is
going to be a fabulous year foryou as well, and I'm feeling
optimistic, and that's a goodfeeling to have.
I'm glad you're here.
If you're just joining me forthe first time, I would love to
hear how you discovered the show.
You can always leave me a fanmail message in the app that

(01:11):
you're using to listen to thisepisode, and if you've been
around for a while, I would alsostill love to hear how you
discovered the show.
So please don't be afraid toreach out, because I love
getting messages from listeners, wherever they end up finding me
.
Don't be shy, I love it.
Podcasting is a lonely endeavorwhich could be a little
precursor into why we are goingto be talking about the Bite Me

(01:32):
Cannabis Club a little bit laterin this episode.
The purpose of today's episodeis to pull back the curtain on
the Bite Me Cannabis Club, why Istarted it, the vision that I'm
hoping to accomplish with allof you, and how you can be part

(01:53):
of this amazing community.
But before we get into that, Ijust want to talk about for a
minute something that's alsobeen helping me on this journey
In the new year.
I had a wonderful Christmasholiday, even though this year
was looking a lot different thanother years in my past.
As some of you if you're anewer listener I got out of a
really big relationship about ayear ago just over a year ago.

(02:19):
I've been with this person for15 years and we parted ways.
That's the gist of it, I guess.
So this Christmas was going tolook a lot different than last
Christmas and I you know I hadsome feelings around that, but I
ended up having a reallywonderful holiday.
My family came down to visitbut unfortunately, when said

(02:41):
family left, they also left mewith a cold and one of those
family members also caught thatcold.
One of them brought it to us.
But that's sometimes whathappens when you're dealing with
children and what can you do.
So I was really sick at the endof December and into the early
new year.
So even though I had notplanned to do an episode for

(03:04):
January 2nd, because that's theThursday when it would have come
out all my episodes come out onThursday mornings I was
probably too sick to dosomething anyway, even though I
probably would have plannedsomething ahead of time and
pre-recorded it because I reallywanted to have that rest and
recharge.
But I ended up being reallysick and it's really got me
thinking about mental wealth inthe new year, because good

(03:29):
health is the foundation foreverything that we do, and I was
reminded of that when I waslying in bed for three days.
The first three days were theworst, clearly, and I was
spending a lot of time readingand relaxing and recharging and
just helping my body to recover.
You realize how important sleep, diet, exercise, stress
management and exogenouscompounds are.

(03:51):
I started out the new year, having to reflect on how
important health is, and, admittedly, sometimes I stay up
a little bit too late justscrolling on TikTok or something
like that, which is probablynot the best way to be treating
my body.
You know, I might want to skipa workout, or I eat something
that I know is probably notgoing to be that healthy for me,
cannabis ediblesnotwithstanding.

(04:13):
Having effective tools tomanage stress is always
important, and one of the thingsI've also been using is Magic
Mind.
I've talked about them beforeon this show and their focus
shots in the morning reallyhelped me with my mental clarity
.
I think 2025 is going to be theyear that I want to help build
my mental resilience, becausethe mental resilience, along

(04:33):
with the physical resilience, isso important to improving your
life and improving your mentalwell-being, your physical
well-being and just setting thatfoundation for accomplishing
the goals that you have in thenew year.
And your goals might be simple.
It might be like take up a newactivity, make a new friend,

(04:59):
maybe their business goals.
Having that mental resilienceto go out and just do the thing
that you want to do, no matterhow big or small that thing is,
is part of what's going to make2025 the year that you build
your mental resilience.
The one thing that I reallylove about Magic Mind is that it
was created with a scientificadvisory board of doctors and
medical researchers, and it'sbeen in development for 10 years

(05:22):
, with over a hundred iterationsof the formula.
And there's been in developmentfor 10 years, with over 100
iterations of the formula andthere's over 200 scientific
studies behind each and everyingredient, and one of those
ingredients that I love islion's mane, because I do know
that that lion's mane reallydoes help with that mental
clarity which I need when I wantto sit down and work on all

(05:45):
things.
Bite Me.
If you want to join me in ayear of mental resilience and
mental wealth, then you can getyour own pack of Magic Mind a
Magic Mind bundle with both amental clarity and a sleep aid
for 45% off if you go tomagicmindcom forward slash bite
me, jan, and you'll find thatlink in the show notes as well,

(06:08):
so you can find it easily.
So join me in focusing on yourhealth and mental wealth for
2025, because it's so important.
You don't want, and I know somany people that have been
getting sick, and it's just sucha good reminder that sometimes
your body needs you to slow downand recharge, because if you
don't have your health, life isso much more difficult.

(06:28):
I just want to do a fun littlething too, before we get into
the meat and potatoes of thisepisode, which I always like to
say which is what a cliche.
Maybe I need to come up with anew one, but we're going to do a
little stoner trivia question.
It's politics.
Which US president has admittedto smoking cannabis?

(06:51):
Was it Barack Obama, ronaldReagan, george W Bush or Donald
Trump?
Which US president has admittedto smoking cannabis?
Barack Obama, ronald Reagan, george Bush or Donald Trump?
If you guessed Barack Obama, you would be correct.
I wouldn't be surprised ifthey've all smoked a little weed

(07:13):
, though.
Well, maybe not Ronald Reagan, although who knows A lot of
those people that were.
So anti-cannabis often tend tobe sometimes closeted cannabis
users.
Isn't that always the way?
And sometimes closeted cannabisusers is not always the way.
The Bite Me Cannabis Club youmay have heard a little bit
about this.
I've been sharing some stuffabout it on a little bit on

(07:35):
social media and on the websiteand on the podcast, but one of
the reasons I wanted to startthe Bite Me Cannabis Club is
because it's probably,admittedly, a little bit selfish
.
I find podcasting, I lovepodcasting, I love doing this
show, I love coming up with therecipes and finding people to
interview, and I've intervieweda lot of really interesting

(07:55):
people who are doing cool stuffout in the world.
It's been such a privilege todo this show, but it's also kind
of lonely, like I'm sittinghere right now and I'm talking
to a group of people who arelistening to this episode, but I
can't see them, I can't hearthem.
You can send me a fan mail.
I can't actually reply to those.
If you weren't aware, the fanmail messages do come to me and

(08:17):
I can read and enjoy them, but Ican't reply, and so, personally
, I love what I'm doing, but itcan be a little bit lonely.
Cannabis has also been a hugepart of my journey in the last
several years.
I mean, cannabis has been apart of my life since I was a
teenager.
I was using it very differently, admittedly, back then than I

(08:37):
am now.
I've also seen from being partof other communities how being
in community can accelerate yourlearning and your growth as
well, and that applies to me aswell.
As the founder of the Bite MeCannabis Club.
I'm also if you weren't aware Ithink it's in the introduction

(08:58):
unless you probably didn't knowI'm a certified gangier and I'm
working to become a certifiedcannabis educators through the
Cannabis Institute, formerlyknown as the Cannabis Institute,
formerly known as the CannabisCoaching Institute, and I'm
working on that designation aswell.
I'm almost done.
One of the goals I have for 2025is to finally finish that, but
I want to be able to use mycannabis certifications, my

(09:19):
knowledge, my education, to alsospur other people in the
community.
The purpose of the community isto help cannabis lovers connect
, learn and create together.
A big part of that is not onlyjust edibles education, because
obviously that's something I'msuper passionate about.
That's my preferred way toconsume cannabis.
I love food and I enjoy cooking, and making something infused

(09:43):
is something that I really enjoydoing, but I want to be able to
help other people do the samething and, yes, I can accomplish
that with the podcast, butthere are limitations to that,
as I'm sure we all know, and Ifeel like what a lot of people a
lot of folks myself includedare looking for these days is
community, and community inperson and online.

(10:05):
They're both extremely valuableand I wanted to create a space
where you can meet otherlike-minded people to not only
learn about cannabis at edibles, but also learn about cannabis
generally speaking, becausethere is so much happening with
this plant Now that so manyplaces are opening up and
legalization is becoming areality in a lot of

(10:26):
jurisdictions I'm fortunate tolive in Canada, where it is
federally legal they arelearning so much more about this
plant that they just couldn'tstudy for a hundred years
because of prohibition.
So I wanted to create a spacethat was fun and inspirational
not just about recipes, butsharing ideas, experiences and
making cannabis moreapproachable.
Some of the things that I haveenvisioned for the Bite Me

(10:48):
Cannabis Club are workshops andcooking classes.
We've already had a few ofthose already.
I've got monthly challengeshappening in the club.
Right now.
The Puff Paint Play one is onethat you can participate in to
just help unleash some of yourcreativity, which is something
that I feel like, if you find alittle extra time to do, is

(11:08):
really rewarding, because it isa way to manage that stress as
well when you find creativeoutlets to help you sort of
decompress from the day.
There's edibles content, recipes.
There's a whole library of justedibles, digital cookbooks that
you can access.
There's going to be a privatepodcast feed, cooking classes,
workshops, member spotlights,community discussions, events

(11:32):
and challenges.
Like I already mentioned,there's a weekly event that I'm
hosting.
I'm looking to build and growon that as time goes on, and one
of the ways I'm going to bedoing that and I've already been
working on this as well is tobring in really amazing
collaborators who are alsocreating content, like Chef Adam
Vandermeer of your CannabisChef, who has already done a

(11:54):
couple of excellent workshopswithin the club on infusing
foods and these are not justinfusing like some basic dish,
these are full-on recipes, savory dinners that you can
infuse, and he finds reallyinteresting infusion points
along the way where you caninfuse those meals.
That's just one example.
I'm looking to highlight someof the great work again that

(12:18):
people are doing in the cannabisspace.
One of the reasons I love doingthe podcast is because when I
interview people, I find folkswho are doing interesting things
in the cannabis space and thatmight be on a smaller level, on
a bigger commercial level, butthey're doing it for, not just
to make money, if that makessense.
I try to find people who aredoing things on a little bit of

(12:40):
a different level, with morethan just a bottom line as the
primary goal.
The vision for the club is todo something very similar,
because I want it to becollaborative and
community-minded.
We have enough competition inthis world that that's not the
vision that I'm looking for.
I'm looking for collaborationand community and to share that

(13:01):
with all the folks who join theclub.
I'm also hoping that peoplewill build lasting friendships.
I do have to admit that it canget harder to meet people as you
get older.
I don't know what it is.
It definitely isn't easy as youget older.
So this is one of the bigreasons as well is that people
can make and build lastingfriendships, and also to empower

(13:23):
members to get in their kitchenand to try some things out and
to get feedback and to makecannabis education approachable
and fun, because the more weknow, the more we can share with
the people around us andhopefully let some of that
cannabis stigma and falsecannabis information just
finally be laid to rest, becausewhen enough of us have that

(13:46):
power collectively, we know thatwe can share it with those who
are close to us who might notrealize that some of the things
that they've learned over theyears is not necessarily true
because of years of propaganda.
The Bite Me Cannabis Club thereis a wait list right now for a
new cohort to come in, and youcan find that at joinbitemecom

(14:09):

ground up, which is also reallyexciting because we do have a

(14:31):
few members in there right now,but I am looking forward to a
fantastic 2025.
I'm super excited about thisand I hope you'll join.
Bite Me Cannabis Club helpscannabis lovers connect, learn
and create together.
There's going to be all kindsof fun things happening in the
club.

(14:52):
club as well who areexperimenting and having fun
with cannabis in their ownkitchens and in their own lives,
