Hello everyone, and welcome to Books Undone. I'm your host, Livia J. Elliot, and as the title says - this is Episode Zero of my bookish podcast. Today, I will tell you a bit about my motivations for starting Books Undone, what content you will find here, and what schedule I will follow.

I can’t wait to deep-dive into the coming episodes (and books!) with you!

(00:00):
Hello everyone and welcome to Books Undone. I'm your host, Livia J. Elliot, and I have

(00:14):
been passionate about deeply meaningful books since I began reading in the 90s. My house
had this huge library and I plucked it constantly in search of new worlds and new adventures.
But most importantly, I always wanted something new to learn. I love those books that teach

(00:36):
me as I read them, those that are theme heavy and wrote to discuss something. I love books
that showcase perspectives and thoughts so far away from my own that I had never considered
them. Those books that amaze me with worlds and societies so antipodean to ours that they

(00:58):
can only come to life through fantasy and science fiction. Books that are so allegorical
that they have four layers of meaning and that, whenever I reread them, end up revealing
more and more of what is written between their lines. Those are the books I love to read,
discuss, and write. And that is exactly how the idea for this podcast originated. Books

(01:23):
and Done is not your typical review. I won't talk about whether the characters are relatable,
if the plot is fast or slow paced, or whether it ends on a cliffhanger. In Books and Done,
I will deconstruct books to find what lays beyond the plot, to decipher their invisible

(01:45):
meaning, to reflect on their symbolism, and to ask more questions than those I'm capable
of answering. These discussions will contain spoilers and will be centered around science
fiction, dystopian, or fantasy books and graphic novels. Besides analyzing books, I may also

(02:07):
talk about some specific topics related to writing and reading, for example, cognitive
distance, character agency, and other similar themes. Books and Done will mostly be just
myself. However, I may invite somebody else to speak with me in the future. New episodes

(02:30):
will come in every one or two months. And the reason for this is that sometimes I need
to do some research and mull over my findings before I can actually discuss the book. Anyways,
I'm so grateful that you are here with me, and I can't wait to deep dive into the coming

(02:50):
episodes and books with you. You can join me and listen to Books and Done wherever you
listen to podcasts like Apple, Google, Spotify, YouTube, and more. So make sure to subscribe
and share this episode. And if you are up to it, you can follow me on Twitter, threads,

(03:13):
and Instagram as Livia J. Elliot. Thank you for listening and happy reading.
