Jama Pantel (00:00):
What if the reason
you've been feeling off lately,
unmotivated, emotional, maybeeven invisible, isn't because
you've lost your edge, butbecause you're evolving.
Hey y'all, it's your podcastBestie Jama again, and today
we're getting real aboutsomething that hits women hard,
especially those of us like me,building businesses or those
(00:23):
leading teams, or just trying tokeep it all together.
That weird in-between stagewhere your body, your energy,
and your emotions all startchanging, and you barely
recognize yourself.
Some people like to call itperimenopause.
I like to call it living lifein middle age.
Or frankly, a second puberty, because honestly, that's what it
(00:46):
feels like.
And while this might sound likea total detour from brand
building and what I normallytalk about, I promise you, it's
not.
Because how you feel in yourbody directly impacts how you
show up in your brand, in yourbusiness, or in real life.
I started this podcast to talkabout the real life stuff that I
(01:06):
don't think enough people aretalking about.
So let me tell you, I have beenthere.
Honestly, I'm in the middle ofall of this myself.
I used to be that person whocould train and run marathons,
run a business work, do all thethings, and still feel
unstoppable at the end of theday, and what am I going to
tackle next?
But lately, this yearespecially, the energy dips are
(01:30):
real.
The moods are unpredictable, the brain fog don't even get me
started.
And there are days I catchmyself staring at my screen
thinking, what am I even doingwith my life right now?
It's easy to think something'swrong with you, like I have
thought all year.
And as you know, I've had everytest known to man.
Okay, that's a slightexaggeration, but I have had
(01:53):
test after test done on me thisyear because I was sick or so I
thought, and I honestly got zeroanswers from all of the
doctor's appointments I've had,and they still have me going
through follow-ups, but I'vefigured it out on my own.
It is this stage in life, it isperimenopause.
I feel like I've lost my spark,my drive, and my clarity most
(02:14):
days.
But here's the thing, if you'regoing through this too, you
probably haven't lost yourself, you've been recalibrating, your
hormones are shifting, yourbody's changing, and your brain
is literally rewiring how itprocesses stress and creativity.
Of course, all of this feels soweird to us after being who we
(02:35):
thought we were for so long.
If you look at the studies ofwomen in this stage of life, I
mean, this is where mostrelationships or marriages end.
This is where women leave thejob force because they don't
feel fulfilled.
I have had so manyconversations with women my age
or those older who have alreadygone through this this year
alone to know that I am notalone anymore.
(02:58):
And that's why I wanted to talkabout this and why it's so
important to me.
When we talk about building abrand, we usually focus on
strategy, showing upconsistently, sharing your
messaging, staying confident oncamera, all the things.
But what happens when yourconfidence feels like it's
evaporating from inside out?
Because that's where I havebeen this year.
(03:20):
And that's the part that no oneprepares you for.
How physical changes in midlifecan shake your identity.
You're not just managing abusiness, you're managing a body
and a brain that are quietlyreinventing themselves.
But here's the good news thisseason is not a breakdown, it's
a realignment.
(03:40):
Your body is trying to pull youtoward a different pace, a
deeper purpose, and a moresustainable way of leading.
So if you too have been feelingscattered, emotional, brain
fogged, or even disconnectedfrom your own ambitions, you're
not losing your edge.
You're in the process ofredefining it.
You might not be able to go atthe same speed as you used to,
(04:04):
but what if that's actually agift?
What if slowing down actuallyallows you to show up more
powerfully, more intentionally, and as the woman you are now?
The truth is your brand evolvesas you do.
And I should know this becausemy photography business has
evolved so much throughout theyears, so of course this is
(04:25):
normal.
And part of living the wholepicture means honoring the
season you're in, physically, mentally, emotionally, and
letting it inform how you showup, not derail what you do.
So yes, midlife might feel likea second puberty,
unpredictable, emotional, messy, but it's also one of the most
(04:46):
powerful seasons of your lifebecause now you have wisdom,
boundaries, and perspective onyour side, something you didn't
have back then.
You've built things, you failedmore times than you care to
admit, and you have learned howto survive and have learned what
truly matters.
And you learn to bring thatenergy, the calm confidence of a
(05:07):
woman who's learned to listento herself and to her brand and
to her business.
That's when you becomemagnetic.
So if you've been wondering whyeverything feels different
lately, maybe it's because youare different.
And that's okay.
You're not meant to show uplike you used to.
You're meant to show up likethe woman you've become or are
(05:28):
becoming.
That's the real brandevolution.
And honestly, it's the mostpowerful part of the whole
picture.
And that is all I have fortoday.
Um, but stay tuned and listen alittle bit longer because I'm
gonna share a couple of thingsthat I have some amazing friends
in the podcast community, mypod sisters, are up to, and I'm
gonna share them with you guysbecause I think y'all might be
(05:50):
interested as well.
So stay tuned.
Bye for now.
