Jama Pantel (00:00):
You don't need a bigger audience, you need the
right one, and your real growthstarts when you stop trying to
reach everyone.
Hey, y'all, it's your podcastbestie Jama coming at you again.
And today we're talking aboutone of the most common traps I
see women fall into whenbuilding their personal brand
Thinking they have to reacheveryone.

(00:22):
More followers, more engagement, more visibility.
It all sounds good until itbecomes the reason.
You're overwhelmed,second-guessing everything and
losing your message in the noise.
Because, trust me, that was me.
When I became a run influencer,my audience size grew
exponentially.
I suddenly was close to 3,000plus followers on my personal

(00:45):
Instagram page, and trust mewhen I say they didn't care
anything about me.
They only liked or engaged whenI shared running content and,
if I'm being honest, that wasn'tjust who I was, and so I let
them go.
I deleted close to 2,500followers from my personal
Instagram and, even though I amtaking a break, that is what

(01:07):
burned me out Seriously.
So let's break it all down.
Here's something I wish someonetold me early on.
You don't need a massiveaudience to build a powerful
brand.
You don't need to go viral.
You don't need millions offollowers.
What you need is the rightpeople, the ones who see you,

(01:28):
the ones who get what you do,the ones who tell their friends
to buy your offers and those whostay for the long haul.
I'd take 100 aligned followers,over 10,000 strangers, any day.
Trust me, I remember when I wasstuck in the numbers game, like
I said, I'd post somethinghonest and get crickets.
Then I'd post something trendyin the running world and I'd get

(01:50):
attention, but the people itattracted, they weren't my
people.
So I started second guessingmyself, diluting my message,
trying to be more palatable andpolished for them and be on
brand for the brand I waspushing which should have been
me the whole time and it felt sohollow when I did that.
So what finally changed?

(02:10):
I stopped chasing everyone andstarted speaking directly to the
people I wanted to reach, thoseready to lead, not just scroll
or not just like my runningcontent.
I know, I know we're conditionedto think numbers equals success
, but here's the truth.
A small audience that trustsyou will convert faster than a

(02:31):
large one that doesn't care.
The right people don't needconvincing, they just need
clarity.
When you speak clearly, notcleverly, you start to stand out
.
Trying to be everything toeveryone waters down your
authority, but when you get boldabout who you are and who
you're not, you become magnetic.

(02:52):
Here's how you can tell if youraudience is aligned.
They respond to your realstories, not just the polished
ones.
They share your content withtheir people without being asked
.
They repeat your words back toyou in messages, in
conversations and on calls.
That's brand alignment, y'all, and it starts with showing up

(03:13):
authentically and clearly.
So if you're tired of chasingeveryone, here's what I want you
to do.
Narrow your focus.
Who do you really want to help?
Get specific with your content.
Let it repel the wrong peopleand pull the right ones in.
Engage with the people alreadypaying attention.
Small circles build strong roots, and that holds true in real

(03:37):
life, too.
And why I keep my circle sotight.
Because when you stop trying toimpress everyone, you start
building something that actuallylasts.
So if you're ready to show upmore clearly, I've got a few

resources to help you (03:49):
my 30 days of personal brand prompts
or strike a pose guide, or evenmy show up confidently on camera
mini course, all designed tohelp you refine your message and
connect with the right peoplewithout the pressure to be on
all the time.
And you can find all of that onmy website at jamapantel.
com, and I'll link it in theshow notes below.

(04:10):
Trust me when I say you weren'tmeant to speak to everyone.
You were meant to lead someone.
So stop diluting your messageto please the masses.
Start speaking directly to thepeople you're here to serve,
because your audience, theydon't need you to be louder,
they need you to be clearer.
So keep showing up, keep livingthe whole picture and until

(04:33):
next time I'll see y'all soon.
Bye for now.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
