Jama Pantel (00:00):
Have you ever told yourself you're just scared to
show up?
But deep down, it's not fear,it's disappointment.
Disappointed that you'vealready tried it and it didn't
work.
That's what we're unpackingtoday, because if you've ever
felt that you're not alone and, more importantly, you're not
broken.
Hey y'all, it's your podcast,bestie Jama again.

(00:22):
And today we're talking aboutthe thing that really keeps so
many of us from showing uponline, on camera or even in our
own lives.
It's not just fear, it'sdisappointment.
And, it's sneaky because itwears the costume of
procrastination, perfectionism,or "I'm just not ready yet, so
let's dig in.

(00:43):
You know, you always hear"you're just scared to be seen,
but I want to offer somethingdifferent.
What if it's not fear that'sholding you back, but the fear
of being disappointed again?
Because here's the truth.
You've already tried.
Maybe you launched something, maybe you posted your face
finally, maybe you shared a bigpart of your story or put your

(01:06):
offer out there and nothinghappened, or not enough happened
, or someone close to you didn'tsupport it.
So, instead of being scared tostart, you're scared to hope
again.
And trust me, I've been there.
I have been so guilty of this, and a lot more recently too,
that I have taken a step back.

(01:27):
So that sting of disappointmentdoesn't just sit quietly.
It starts whispering thingslike "see, it didn't work last
time, no one cared, why wouldthis time be any different?
And then your brain, trying toprotect you, says let's just not
try so hard next time, let'sjust play it safe.
But here's what I've learnedDisappointment is part of the

(01:51):
process, but it's not the proofthat your work doesn't matter.
It's just feedback.
It's not a life sentence.
You know, you've seen it.
You've seen someone else postsomething that you thought was
just kind of half you know whatand get hundreds of likes and
y'all that really messes withyour head.

(02:12):
It makes you pull back, makesyou question if what you really
want to say or had to say iseven worth putting out there.
But the truth is people can'tengage with you when you don't
share.
And holding back doesn'tprotect you from disappointment.
It just guarantees you'll missout on the connections, clients

(02:33):
and confidence that come fromshowing up again.
So if you're nodding your headright along with all of this,
here's what I want you to do.
Name it.
Literally.
Say this isn't fear, this isdisappointment.
When you name that real feeling, it loses some of its power
when you say it out loud, getcurious, ask yourself what am I

(02:54):
really afraid will happen if Itry again?
Often it's not failure, it'sbeing ignored or misunderstood.
And then do something small onpurpose not perfect, not
polished just one tiny action toprove to yourself that you can
show up again and survive it.

(03:15):
If this is hitting you in thegut or the heart, I want to help
you take one step forward rightnow.
