Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alright.
So the episode you're about towatch is one that I wasn't going
to publish, wasn't going to dothe post-production, put it
together and do everything thatI'd normally do.
Y'all were actually never goingto know it ever existed, and
(00:21):
the general principle behind itwas just basically, following me
on a day off you know what I doon a day off.
However, when I went back andstarted reviewing the videos and
the clips and things like that,so that I could start the
post-production on it, there wassomething about it that I
didn't like.
It was something that was apersonal thing, and because I
(00:45):
didn't like it, I told myself Iwasn't going to post it.
Um, I was going to delete itand get rid of it and just
reshoot the next day, but Ididn't do it immediately and I
held onto it overnight and thenext morning it dawned on me
that what I was about to do wassomething that is completely
(01:09):
contradictory to the purpose ofdoing this whole podcast to
begin with, because doing thispodcast to begin with was to
help people get past things, getover things, move on, you know,
discover things in themselves, you know, just get some personal
growth out of it.
(01:29):
And in turn, here I was aboutto completely delete an entire
day, an entire day's worth ofmaking videos, because of a
personal issue, because ofsomething that I personally had
an issue with with the videosand that goes against everything
(01:55):
that I'm trying to do with thepodcast.
So, despite everything in metelling me to get rid of the
video, risking every bit of thecriticism that's going to come
from it that doesn't alreadycome, I'm going to post it
(02:17):
Because of some audio issues, there is going to be probably
some voiceovers throughout it,because at the time I have not
done the post-production on ityet.
But I am going to post it andthe tone of the video is much
different now than justsomething as simple as what I do
on a day off.
(02:39):
To me it's more profound nowbecause, as big of a hurdle as
it was for me to one start apodcast and then to start doing
videos of those podcasts, thisone is equally, just as
difficult for me.
Like I said, for personalreasons, it's difficult for me
(03:01):
to do this particular video, andit may be something that that
we get into in a little while orsomething like that, but, you
know, for personal issues I wasgoing to completely get rid of
it because it was that difficultfor me to watch, for me to see,
especially considering howcritical of myself that I am.
(03:23):
So I wasn't going to do it andthankfully, I decided the
following day that posting thatvideo, against everything in my
instinct telling me not to, isthe better option.
And it's the better optionbecause I've got to practice
(03:44):
what I preach, and if I'm goingto tell people that they have to
get out of their comfort zones,if I'm going to tell people
that, in order to get past thesethings that are causing them
hangups, then I probably shouldpractice it myself.
For the most part, I do, but Iwasn't expecting this one.
(04:06):
I really wasn't expecting tosee what I saw in this video, um
.
So, that being the case, it iswhat it is and I'm going to post
it, and that's what thisepisode is going to be about.
It's going to be spending a daywith me on a day off and me
(04:27):
trying to work on overcomingsome personal issues myself.
So hope you enjoy guys.
Bye, team 1, stand by.
Copy.
Team 1, standing by Breach, breach, breach, breach, breach,
breach.
So I got asked recently whatdoes a day off for me look like,
(04:53):
and I was able to explain it tothe person kind of generalized.
But for me it's not always easyto explain what a day off for
me looks like, mainly because Ihonestly don't know what my day
off is going to consist of Like.
Every once in a while I'll havesome things planned out that I
(05:15):
know I'm going to do, like go tothe gym or work out or whatever
.
Sometimes I've got training,but when I don't have those
things, most of the times Idon't really know what I'm going
to do.
Um, I'll have an idea of thingsI want to do, but I don't
always know what that's going tobe.
So I kind of give them ageneralized idea of what a day
(05:41):
off for me looks like.
But I thought after that that, hey, that might be something
interesting in, or interestingenough to document.
So that's what I'm gonna dotoday.
I'm going to document what myday off looks like.
Now.
Side note, this is not one ofmy typical day offs because I do
(06:03):
have at least one thing plannedfor today.
It's planned for early morningand I need to stop recording so
I can go, but I do havesomething that I have to do this
morning.
So that's what we're going togo do.
I don't particularly care forthis one because I'm somebody
that likes to do things formyself, especially like this,
(06:26):
but it makes it easier for meand we'll discuss that when it
comes time.
But that's what we're going todo today.
We're going to document, likemost of my day, and just kind of
catch you up.
It is currently eight-ishsomething in the morning and so
far I I have gotten up, spentsome time with the wife.
(06:49):
Um, I do get some weird looksfrom time to time, uh, but
that's you know.
I get up and spend time with mywife in the morning because,
you know, at one time we wereboth on shift work, so wasn't a
whole lot of time, um, spenttogether, because a lot of times
we were passing each other onthe way home or going to work,
(07:10):
or the time we were hometogether, it was, you know, a
couple hours here before we hadto go to bed and get up and go
to our respective jobs.
So we kind of developed aroutine that you know, I'll get
up when she gets up in themornings on my days off, well,
I'll get up when she gets up andwe'll spend some time together.
So we try to do it as much aspossible.
(07:30):
Well, now that she's not onshift work anymore, she's got
that normal Monday throughFriday kind of job.
Um, I still continue that.
So I'll get up when she gets upand, uh, we'll drink some
coffee and we just kind of spenda couple hours or whatever
together before she has to leaveand go off to work.
Like I said, some people kind oflook at me a little weird, but
(07:52):
you know, it's just a way for meto spend a little time with the
wife.
So that's what I did thismorning and I didn't record that
because that's my time.
Y'all don't get to have that.
But we've done that, we'vegotten a shower and now we're
off to go run the one errandthat I have to do and then we'll
(08:15):
see where it goes from therebecause, like I said, my days
aren't usually planned out.
I have some ideas of thingsthat I need to do or want to do
or whatever, but we'll see whatgoes from there.
So, with that, I'm gonna cutthis thing off so I can get on
the road and get to where I'mgoing.
All right, see you in a bit.
All right, so we're here.
(08:37):
We got here about 30 minutesearly and what we are is a local
car dealer or a car dealers, and I had to bring my wife's car
up here for an oil change.
That irritates me because I domy oil change on my truck.
I do those things all the time.
However, in order to keep thewarranty, it has to be well
(09:01):
tracked and traced and all thatgood stuff to ensure that you
know all the proper maintenanceand preventative maintenance is
done to the vehicle, and I,unfortunately, am not organized
enough and I'm too lazy to keeptrack of that stuff on my own.
So this is a dealership.
We keep track of it on the appand all that good stuff here for
me to keep track of it, keeptrack of it on the app and all
(09:22):
that good stuff, and I waste mytime sitting here Something I
can do 20, 30 minutes at thehouse.
I spend up here for an hour andI spend more money for it, but
in the long run it's going tokeep the warranty update or keep
the warranty updated and Idon't have to worry about being
(09:42):
out of warranty.
So I believe I'm fairly certainthose things are a scam and I
don't have to worry about beingout of warranty.
So I believe I'm fairly certainthose things are a scam to
begin with because they're goingto find a way to get you in the
end of my own opinion.
But I guess we'll find out.
So here I am, wasting howevermuch time it is.
Like I said, we got here abouta half hour early.
I don't know if they're goingto get it done faster.
(10:08):
I originally scheduled myappointment for 9, and then when
I got the notification thismorning or the reminder this
morning, it said yourappointment's at 9.15.
And then when I'm watching thegentleman write down the day's
schedule, he put my name next to9.30.
So here's hoping it don't takethat long.
It is currently 926.
(10:28):
I think they're already workingon it, but I guess we'll find
out.
So we're going to continue onwith the day and see where this
goes.
Also, anybody else notice howred my nose is?
I have no idea why my nose isthat red, like I wear sunglasses
, but you'd think if my nose isgoing to be that red, that other
(10:50):
parts of my face would be thatred too.
But yet it's not.
It's curious, alright.
So there's been a little moreprogress that y'all weren't
along for.
Didn't take that long for theoil change.
So told you about the littledebacle.
With the time it was 9 and 9.15and 9.30.
However, at 9.52 they called meup and said hey, your vehicle's
(11:15):
done.
However, I will say that seeingthe price of just an oil change
and a tire rotation is amotivator to figure out a way to
track this stuff so that I canstill keep the warranty.
Because the uh, the price forlabor an oil change and a tire
(11:36):
rotation was going to be 124freaking dollars.
Rotation was going to be ahundred and twenty four freaking
dollars $124 to do a damn oilchange that I can do in 30
minutes in a driveway.
So, yeah, gonna have to figuresomething out because that's
absolutely ridiculous.
Now, that being said, got donewith there and we've gone to the
(12:00):
pharmacy and we've done what weneeded to do there and then
made another stop.
That wasn't exactly planned.
If any of you are impulsivethen you completely understand.
But I had been thinking aboutdoing something and kind of
researching it and hadn't doneit, just had already decided
that I didn't need to do it.
(12:21):
But while I waited forsomething at the pharmacy, I
took a trip over to harborfreight and I went ahead and
bought me a pressure washer.
So there's a pressure washer inthe back of the truck.
Now I was gonna try to put itin the cab because I also want
to stop by lowe's, but it don'tfit.
(12:41):
Like I'm sure.
If I pulled it out of the boxand all that right now, I could
probably put it in there.
But I don't trust people enoughto leave my brand new pressure
washer in the bed of the truckwhile I go to Lowe's.
So that means a second trip.
So I'm gonna have to run home, drop that off, then turn around
and come back up so I can go tolowe's to do what I was going to
(13:02):
do at lowe's, which I alsodecided last minute that I was
going to do.
But that kind of schedule worksout because I can grab a protein
bar because I was leaving thismorning and forgot to take a
protein bar with me.
I have not had anything to eatthis morning, so that's going to
work out, at least for that.
But I am wasting gas, wastingtime and a second trip.
(13:23):
So, yeah, all right, let's keepgoing.
It is 10, 36, 10, 36 and we'vegotten three things accomplished
.
Well, four if you count theshower.
And I think you should, becauseat least you did something with
your day if you got a shower.
So all right on to the nextthing.
All right, pressure washer hasbeen secured and the protein bar
(13:49):
has been acquired, which I willeat on the way there, and I
also worked out because my fatfurry friend at the house also
needed to go outside.
So we've got that and we'reabout to head back to Lowe's,
which is about a 10 or 15 minuteride.
Head up there, do what we'vegot to do there, come back and
do something else, though sidenote, I like to think that I'm a
(14:13):
fairly patient person, prettyunderstanding, so on and so
forth.
Don't usually get too worked upwhile driving.
However, sitting in a trafficlight on the way home and just
looking around, as one does, youknow, seeing what people are
doing, what's going on, alsobeing observant of my
(14:34):
surroundings, and the lightchanged.
And I had just looked at it,looked away, looked back up.
The light changed, I startedgoing.
The person behind me startedhonking my horn.
Generally, that doesn'tirritate me, I ignore it, I move
on with my day.
I'm sorry you're so impatient, but, that being said, we turn
(14:56):
onto the road and we start goingand I reach the posted speed
limit and as I look in my mirrorand I'm watching behind me, I'm
noticing that the person thatwas honking their horn at me is
not even getting up to theposted speed limit.
Like like they were honkingbecause they were ready for me
(15:17):
to go and then, like a mile downthe road, I'm way ahead of them
because they're not evenrunning the posted speed limit.
And it made me think like, whywere you in such a hurry?
What were you in such a hurryto do?
Why, why was me being 0.025seconds slower on a reaction
time from the traffic light?
(15:38):
Why was that such a big dealwhen you're not even going to
run the posted speed limit?
Like, what are you in a hurryfor?
Are you in a hurry just to holdup traffic?
Like, why are you going to berude on the road by honking your
horn just to be rude to thepeople behind you and not even
hold up or not even drive theposted speed limit and just hold
(15:59):
up traffic, like that's yourgoal.
Your goal is to hurry up, hurryup, get on a new road and drive
slow to annoy the people behindyou.
I don't get it either way.
Just a little sidebar there.
Now, like I said, we areheading back to and we'll go
from there.
Hey Bye.
(16:22):
Did I just push 800 pounds ofrock across the Lowe's parking
lot?
Maybe Did I come out a doorthat was on the complete
opposite side of where I parked.
Also maybe, and the sad thingis I actually strategically
(16:49):
parked.
I like to do that.
I don't mind walking, but Itried to park in such a way that
I was equally as far from theentrance as I was the exit.
It just kind of made sense tome.
(17:10):
It balanced my brain out.
However, I did not come out ofthe door that I planned on.
Instead, I walked all the wayacross Lowe load to get a flat
cart, pushed an empty flat cartall the way back across the
other side and if, by the way, you've never done that, you get
lots of attention when you dothat Loaded up my rock and then
(17:35):
remembered that I neededsomething inside the store, so I
pushed said cart all the wayback across the inside of the
store that also gets a lot oflooks got what I need to get and
then came out the lumberentrance when I'm near the main
entrance.
So I have now pushed this rockall over the place and now I
(17:57):
have to load it, so I'm'm goingto do that now.
I'll be back in a minute.
All right, we've got it loaded.
It is currently 1139.
I now have 800 pounds of rockand one scantily secured gutter
(18:17):
in the truck.
So 1139,.
We're finally headed back tothe house to start doing
something.
So, and when I get there, I'llprobably set up the tripod and
let it hold the phone.
That way I don't have to keepdoing this.
Plus, I got a neat littleremote that I can use to start
(18:38):
the recording.
So, yeah, alright, back to thehouse.
Okay, first off, I think I'mbrilliant, okay.
So I wanted to treat myselfother than water, and what I
decided to do was take my littlecan of Sprite Zero and add some
(19:03):
Kool-Aid cherry to it.
Zero calories in the Kool-Aidcherry.
A couple of squirts of foamedup, some Bruh Like this is good.
I'm enjoying this and if I dosay so myself, that was quite
ingenious myself.
(19:27):
That was quite ingenious.
Now, I don't know if.
Well, those of you that watchedthe last podcast remember that I
said that I started off on abad morning, or one of the other
podcasts.
I said I started off on a badmorning and I woke up with a
headache and I had a couple ofchoices I could sit around and
do nothing or I could get up andstart doing something.
Well, obviously, because Irecorded a podcast that day, I
(19:53):
actually started doing something, and it started off by me going
to the lake, the pond, whateveryou want to call it, and doing
a little three mile walk.
Well, that's what got my daystarted, and then the rest of
the day it wound up being righthere.
(20:15):
This was not in the plan, and Iknow you're saying saying, well
, what do you mean?
This?
This big rock area?
It was not a big rock areabefore that day and I had to
explain this to my wife when shecame home, because it looked
quite a bit different.
(20:37):
See, a while back, pretty muchright after we got the house,
she wanted a flower garden atsome point, so we went and got
the stuff to make a flowergarden, dug out the old bushes
that were here and I made her aflower garden.
(20:57):
We put down the barrier, putdown the dirt and all the other
good stuff, and it was ready.
Well, she found some flowerseeds that she wanted to use,
and neither one of us have agreen thumb, so she just kind of
put them down how she thoughtand watered them, all that good
(21:22):
stuff.
Well then we went away to dc ona trip and it stormed while we
were gone again, mind you, neither one of us have a green
thumb.
We come home and the borderthat she picked out and that we
put up had blown out and thedirt with the seeds eroded out
(21:49):
of the area.
It was probably I don't knowabout where I'm standing now all
the way back to the porch.
So a lot of the seeds were gone, the dirt was gone Pretty much.
The flower bed was ruined.
So I just broke that so fastforward, put the dirt back in,
(22:14):
did the border better, and shedecided that instead of planting
seeds because they can wash off, she'd just buy some potted
plants and we'd put some pottedflowers in there.
That, to me, made a whole lotmore sense, because somebody
else had already done the workto make sure those things have a
chance to live, and that wasthe plan.
(22:37):
Well, I don't know if any ofy'all have gone and looked at
the cost of potted plants, butwhen you go to a nursery to get
some potted plants they'reexpensive, especially the ones
that are nice ones like shewanted.
They're expensive.
(22:58):
Needless to say, we didn't getno potted plants, especially the
ones that are nice ones likeshe wanted.
They're expensive.
Needless to say, we didn't getno potted plants, and because we
weren't getting potted plants,I got tired of constantly
weeding a dirt patch, so I letit go and it kind of grew over.
Well, not long after that Idecided that I wanted a flagpole
and I thought what a betterplace to put a flagpole than
(23:23):
right in the middle of the porch?
Put it right in front of theflower bed.
Do a little rock garden aroundit, it'll look really nice.
So I did, but I went with adifferent border than she did.
I went with the retaining wallblocks.
I think they look better.
They're more sturdy.
You don't have to bury them, you can just let them sit on
(23:45):
flat ground and they'll do whatthey're supposed to do.
Or you can dig in and build upa retaining wall, like they're
supposed to be done.
So that worked out really well.
Well, had that going and I'vehad my moments of laziness.
I've had my moments of lazinesswith that, but because it was a
(24:05):
rock garden and I didn't wantflowers to go over there, grow
there, I just spray it with someweed killer.
I spray it with some weedkiller and go on about my day.
Well, I got lazy this lastseason and toward the end of the
season I didn't really do muchof anything for it and the weeds
(24:29):
took it over.
Not real bad, but enough.
So that day thatwell.
Let me go back a little bit.
So what we wound up having was, back here, a big dirt patch with
a bunch of weeds and grassgrowing in it, and then up here,
like half of an oval that comeoff of her planter, with rocks
(24:56):
and weeds and grass.
Well, I didn't like the way itlooked and because we used two
different styles of border, Ididn't care for how that looked
either and I'd been thinkingabout what I could do to make it
look differently, and all that.
And I was having a hard time.
And I was having a hard timesee, grass weed.
(25:24):
I was having a hard timefiguring out what to do.
So the time that I recordedthat, at the time I recorded
that last video, when I wasdealing with the headache, I
decided you know what, I'm justgoing to go out there and I'll
sit there and stare at it andeventually I'll figure out
exactly what I wanted to do.
I'll sit there and stare at itand eventually I'll figure out
exactly what I wanted to do.
Well, I was staring at it and Icouldn't figure it out.
And I thought, you know what, maybe if I remove the weeds, if
(25:48):
I remove the weeds, then I'll beable to figure it out a little
easier, because then I won't belooking at the grass and the
weeds and all that nastiness.
So I got some tools and broke mygarden rake.
Oh wait, when I say I broke it,I broke it Literally just
(26:08):
trying to use it as a rake.
So I broke it.
So I started trying to handtool the weeds.
Well, the weed barrier startedcoming up with it.
So next thing, I know I'mtearing out this big old piece
of weed barrier.
That's what?
Four foot wide.
(26:29):
That's completely littered withweeds and grass.
So I get it out and I throw itin the wagon on the mower.
I'm looking at the other piece.
I'm like you know what?
I'm just gonna go ahead andtear it all out, nothing else.
I can go ahead and just levelit all out and you know, all I
got to do is put down morebarrier paper or fabric and put
some new dirt on it.
(26:49):
So I tore the other one out andthen I got to looking at it and
I was like you know what, thiswould be the perfect time, since
I've got this would be theperfect time, since I've got all
this out, be the perfect timeto go ahead, take up the old
border, get some more retainingwall block and just make it one
big retaining wall block thingand do that.
(27:09):
So I went ahead and pulled upher border.
Well, once I got done with that,I was like, oh oh, I finally
figured out what I could do,since she doesn't know what kind
of flowers or plants or bushesor whatever she wants to put
here and I don't like the lookof the you know two separate
(27:30):
things like they were.
I wanted them to all lookuniform.
I know what I'll do I'll goahead, fill the whole thing with
rocks.
That way, all I got to do isjust spray some weed killer on
grass and weeds when it comes inhere, if I don't pick it in
time or pull it in time, andwhen she gets ready, we'll get
them, and then we'll, you know, make our little circles punch
(27:51):
through, move the rock, make ourcircles punch through the
fabric into the dirt, make thewhole planet, we'll be good to
go.
So that's what I did.
So she came home to a not evena half finished project and just
kind of walked in.
(28:11):
I was like, uh, okay, so I hadto go through that whole process
for her.
So this is what I was talkingabout when I said, get out and
do something, and then alsotalking about how my brain works
on oh, let's do this now, let'sdo this.
Now, let's do this.
This is where we're at.
As you can tell, probably, therocks are two different color.
I am not a landscaper.
(28:32):
This thing does not lookperfect.
It does not look like alandscaper does it.
And I was too lazy to go andclean up all of the rock that
was around the flagpole, so I'vespread that out.
I've already put some rock downthe other day, but there wasn't
enough, and they didn't havethe same rock that I had when I
(28:52):
did the flagpole.
So rather than shop around totry to find it and then say, oh,
I need a yard or two yards, orhowever you measure that crap, I
just decided that I would graba couple of bags of the granite
marble and I would mix in theother rocks throughout it, which
is what you just saw me doingwith the shovel.
So that's what we're doing Now.
I'm going to start spreadingthis other rock, going to start
(29:19):
spreading this other rock.
So this is where our day isgoing Turn out the same color.
So, yeah, all right, I'm goingto get back to it.
