Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alright.
So the episode you're about towatch is one that I wasn't going
to publish, wasn't going to dothe post-production, put it
together and do everything thatI'd normally do.
Y'all are actually never goingto know it ever existed and the
(00:21):
general principle behind it wasjust basically, following me on
a day off.
You know what I me in a day off.
You know what I do on a day off.
However, when I went back andstarted reviewing the videos and
the clips and things like that,so that I could start the
post-production on it, there wassomething about it that I
didn't like.
It was something that was apersonal thing and because I
(00:45):
didn't like it, I told myself Iwasn't going to post it.
Um, I was going to delete itand get rid of it and just
reshoot the next day.
But I didn't do it immediatelyand I held onto it overnight and
the next morning it dawned onme that what I was about to do
(01:07):
was something that is completelycontradictory to the purpose of
doing this whole podcast tobegin with, because doing this
podcast to begin with was tohelp people get past things, get
over things, move on, you know, discover things in themselves,
(01:27):
you know, just get some personalgrowth out of it and, in turn,
here I was about to completelydelete an entire day, an entire
day's worth of making videos, because of a personal issue,
because of something that Ipersonally had an issue with
(01:50):
with the videos and that goesagainst everything that I'm
trying to do with the podcast.
So, despite everything in metelling me to get rid, despite
everything in me telling me toget rid of the video, risking
every bit of the criticismthat's going to come from it
(02:12):
that doesn't already come, I'mgoing to post it Because of some
audio issues.
There is going to be probablysome voiceovers throughout it,
(02:32):
because at the time I have notdone the post-production on it
yet, but I am going to post itand the tone of the video is
much different now than justsomething as simple as what I do
on a day off.
To me, it's more profound nowbecause, as big of a hurdle as
it was for me to one start apodcast and then to start doing
videos of those podcasts, thisone is equally just as difficult
(02:57):
for me.
Like I said, for personalreasons, it's difficult for me
to do this particular video, andit may be something that that
we get into in a little while,or or something like that.
But you know, for personalissues, I was going to
completely get rid of it becauseit was that difficult for me to
watch, for me to see um,especially considering how
(03:20):
critical of myself that I am, um, especially considering how
critical of myself that I am.
So I wasn't going to do it andthankfully, I decided the
following day that posting thatvideo, against everything in my
instinct, telling me not to, isthe better option.
(03:41):
And it's the better optionbecause I've got to practice
what I preach, and if I'm goingto tell people that they have to
get out of their comfort zones,if I'm going to tell people
that, in order to get past thesethings that are causing them
hang-ups, then I probably shouldpractice it myself.
For the most part, I do, but Iwasn't expecting this one Um, I
(04:04):
really wasn't expecting to seewhat I saw in this video, um.
So, that being the case, it iswhat it is and I'm going to post
it, and that's what thisepisode is going to be about.
It's going to be spending theday with me on a day off and me
(04:27):
trying to work on overcomingsome personal issues myself.
So hope you enjoy it, guys.
Bye, team one stand by CopyTeam, one standing by Breach,
breach, breach.
(05:04):
I'm sitting here recording thisand I'm looking over toward my
neighbor's house because myneighbor is also a content
creator and I go on to hersocial media, at least her
TikTok, and I like her post, Iwatch her videos and all that,
and I know that she knows thatyou can see who is liking
(05:26):
watching your videos.
I am not seeing where she iswatching and liking my videos
and before you freaking commentoh, maybe you're just not good
enough.
I understand that I already hadthat idea, but we support each
other because we are goodneighbors to each other.
(05:47):
However, I had decided today, while I was recording these
videos, that if I don't startseeing Lo pop up in my
notifications more, then I amgoing to start ambushing.
I'm going to start ambushingher while she is making her
(06:11):
content.
By ambushing her, I mean, I'mgoing to wait until she's
outside recording something and, because I watch for these kinds
of things when I see heroutside recording, I am going to
do something drastic to get herattention and or disrupt her
(06:34):
video, not because of me, notbecause of any malicious intent
that some of you may think, butbecause I think it's funny.
She'll also think it's funnyand her husband will find it
even funnier.
So, lo, I'm letting you know.
Now you better start smashingthat like button, or I'm going
(07:03):
to do the video version ofwhatever photobombing is.
That's what I'm going to do.
I really hope all these rocksturn out the same color.
So yeah, all right, I'm goingto get back to it.
So, so, so, oh, so, so, so, uh,I found me bag of marbles
(09:22):
Marbles, it's not actuallymarbles, it's just marble rock.
I saw something I was going totell you all this earlier.
I saw something that I thoughtodd at first and then I thought
(09:43):
it was kind of ingenious.
So, while, where do I put thisone?
Where should I put this one?
There's a hole there.
Don't step there.
(10:12):
While on the trip back and forthearlier excuse me, while I go
take and put this in the trash.
While on the trip earlier, there's a new subdivision that
has come up across the road.
I sat across the road, y'allwouldn't know.
There's a new subdivision thatcame up within the last year,
(10:35):
and they're really nice-lookinghouses.
However, I'm taking my trashcan back to the house.
However, these houses areentirely too close together.
I mean entirely too close, likealmost if you needed some
(10:59):
butter, your neighbor couldstick their hand out the window
and hand it to you, kind ofclose, so I couldn't live there
either way.
So I saw these houses and theback porch of one, or the back
of the house points at the roadand they had three lawn chairs
lined up, along with probably a30 quart cooler sitting on next
(11:21):
to it, and and I thought, wow, that's an awful brave place to
kind of suntan and everythinglike that.
All the cars going up and downthe road, because that
particular portion of the roadis very busy.
And then I thought they're nottanning, they're sitting there,
people watching, like they'redrinking beer, sitting on the
back porch in lawn chairs, comfortably, and and there are
(11:45):
people watching.
I thought that was brilliantBecause literally you get public
safety vehicles that runthrough there, lights and sirens
, you get crashes, you getpeople that walk, cars and all
manners of different types ofpeople from all walks of life,
and you can literally, from thecomfort of your backyard,
(12:05):
sitting and enjoying a beautifulday like today, sipping on a
cold drink, just sitting thereand people watch, and not even
have to leave the comfort ofyour home.
I thought that was brilliant.
I people watch.
I like the people watch becausehuman beings are interesting
creatures.
But I thought that was verycreative and I like their style.
(12:30):
Almost wish I had that here, but I'm glad my house isn't that
close to someone else.
All right, well, I got this partdone.
I could probably use anotherfew bags of rocks, and I still
got two there.
One of them may wind up gettingused here, but I've got
(12:53):
something else I want to usethose for right now, first to
see if that's going to be athing.
Now I have to get to work onthis gutter.
It looks like my genius buttpopped rid of some things.
So I'm going to have to get theladder, get this thing down.
I'm telling you, cherryKool-Aid With Sprite Zero,
(13:22):
that's where to go.
That's where it's at right now.
So I'm going to go get theladder, ladder and start looking
at this gutter system, becauseI don't really remember what I
did to begin with.
So I'm going to look at thatand then we'll adjust for that.
And there's a reason why I haveto adjust this.
(13:45):
This downspout is too far overNot too far over for the
original installation, but toofar over for what I'm about to
do.
And the reason why I decided todo this is not because I don't
want a downspout anymore.
It's because in the process ofcleaning the yard, the weed
eater has gotten a little tooclose to the downspout, at the
(14:09):
very bottom.
I didn't do that, someone elsedid, son, and it's been beating
all the hecking back.
So rather than do that, theplan is I bought some rain
chains and I'm going to move thespout over to where it's more
in line with this corner and I'mgoing to put I'm going to build
(14:32):
a planter that I'm going to putsome rocks in, then the rain
chain is going to come down intothe planter.
That way the rainwater willcome off the roof into the
gutter, down the rain chains, into the rocks and then disperse
out from there.
And it's going to do it in sucha manner that it doesn't like
try to dig a hole through theground or into the ground or
(14:53):
anything like that.
And then later on, when, uh, mywife decides what she wants to
do, I will figure something elseout to do with that.
I probably won't get rid ofthat piece of gutter there, just
on the off chance that we goback to a downspout putting it
out somewhere else, but I thinkI can use that for something
(15:13):
else.
So I'm gonna go get the ladderand we're gonna get looking at
this.
And, uh, if I hadn't told youbefore, I'm kind of a lot like
clark griswold when it comes tothings.
So I will record while I'm onthe ladder and there's a chance
there may be an incident.
If there does, it'll probablybe recorded and in my opinion,
that's good quality TV rightthere.
So I'll be right a minute, allright.
(15:42):
So, for the purposes of what Isaid, here we go, and since I'm
not taking the camera up herewith me, I will let y'all know
what I see, other than a really, really bad job of putting up
rain gutters.
So I'm going to have to takethe silicone down from there.
(16:03):
And, yep, I did exactly what Ithought I did Pieced one piece
together, cut it off, put in thedownspout and then put in
another small piece.
So now the plan if I can figureout how to get this skin cap
off without breaking something,I should probably just go get my
(16:25):
drill.
Yeah, I did.
Now what I need to do is go getmy drill, unscrew the downspout,
unscrew this end piece andfigure out.
I guess I got to take thesebrackets off too so that I can
(16:46):
get this other piece out andthen put the new piece in, which
will be longer than what I need, and I'm going to cut it
probably here and put thedownspout.
So I'll move the downspout over, probably a foot maybe.
(17:07):
Yeah, I think that's what I'lldo.
I'll move it over a foot andyeah, I think.
Nope, I think I'm gonna move itjust to this last bracket so
that way I don't undo or I don'thave a hole, exposed hole, and
(17:28):
it's one, two, three, four.
And I did do puppets there.
I'm taking the whole thing downand I got to drill those out.
So, all right, yeah, we got alittle work ahead of us.
So I'm going to go grab sometools and we'll get started.
(17:50):
I like power tools.
Here we go.
I'm sure it's wonderful fory'all to sit here, get in there
To sit there and stare at mylegs, in there, to sit there and
stare at my legs, and if therewere people out right now, you
(18:13):
would be able to see people outdoing whatever they do.
There we go.
I'm going to have to replacethat so you at least have
something to look at other thanjust my legs.
But this is what you got.
(18:34):
Thank you for choosing me asyour entertainment.
Oh, this roof is really hot.
It's burning my fingers.
I did a really good jobsiliconeing this, by the way.
Yes, I did.
(18:58):
All right, I'll quit boringy'all with that for now.
Anyone else realize that they'rean idiot at the time they're
doing something, knowing fullwell that they'd already made
plans to keep from doingsomething that would make them
(19:20):
an idiot?
No, just me.
Cool, appreciate the support.
Anyway.
Yeah, so I am blind as a batright now because I've been out
here this entire time with nosunglasses, which was fine in
and of itself until I went intoa less lit area to look for
(19:45):
something specific and Irealized I could not see.
The only reason that makes mean idiot is because I knew from
plenty of other instances thatthat was gonna be an issue.
So I had already planned onchanging out my sunglasses to my
(20:05):
glasses that I do this type ofstuff, in which are my Dewalt
glasses.
They're a little more rugged, alittle better built, this type
of thing.
So I'd already made plans to dothat and, lo and behold, my
(20:26):
stupid self didn't bother doingit, never went and got my DeWalt
sunglasses.
So when I went into the shop tofind a better suited screw tip
so I could get these screws outof here, I couldn't see what I
was doing.
And that's when I remembered oh, I need to put my sunglasses on
(20:47):
, except for the fact that Iwasn't wearing my sunglasses
because I never brought them outof the house.
So, yeah, that happened and Icould use whatever screw tips I
want.
I really don't think it's goingto make much of a difference,
(21:10):
because some dumb installer putso much silicone in here that I
cannot get down deep enough intothe screw head to get enough of
the silicone out to allow me toget the screw tip into the
(21:32):
screw head.
And I realize, while I'm sayingthis, this is all taking kind
of it's like bad gum, it's allkind of going a different
direction now, so yeah, direction now, so yeah, just
(22:01):
going to keep sitting heretrying to dig out.
Oh, did I get it?
Nope, psych Chooks on you.
You don't get to get that.
Let me put it on now.
Oh, perfect, perfect, it's likeI planned it that way.
Now can I get it loose withouttearing the other piece
completely?
(22:22):
Oh, that's brilliant.
You've siliconed that too.
Why would you do that?
What were you thinking that too?
Why would you do that?
What were you thinking, yeah, that is an expansion gap.
Oh, I bet I know why.
(22:43):
No, I've got no clue.
I bet that is supposed to be.
Yeah, that's supposed to bemore centered, isn't it?
Get off of there.
You should probably take thistime to clean this gutter out
too, because it has got a lot ofthe asphalt from the shingles
(23:09):
in it Because we had solarpanels installed.
One of the boys, anyway, we hadsolar panels.
Look at this, look at that.
We had solar panels installedand those guys just absolutely
(23:33):
walked all over everything upthere.
What is that?
What is that craziness?
Maybe I was doing it right, after all.
I don't know.
I know it looks really ugly ontop of this thing.
Maybe I was doing it right thewhole time.
I really should considerdeciding to do it all myself.
(23:59):
I don't know when I stoppedrecording.
I thought I had been recordingthis whole time, so I don't know
where it left off because Icouldn't see you guys.
But that part of the gutter isdown and I can now measure out
(24:25):
and do what I need to do there.
Where did the oh theow is stillthere, alright, so undo this.
Now we've got to drill out afew things.
Let's put this up and offthat's side of there now y'all
(24:58):
can see a little better.
So I put some rivets, obviouslyright here on both sides.
Apparently I thought I was beingpretty smart, and I was because
I was more worried about, Iguess, wind and whatever getting
to it.
That obviously is not the casenow.
(25:20):
So we're going to find someplace to put this, because I
don't want to get rid of it justyet.
I can drill that rivet out andreplace that piece.
This is the piece that we haveto do something with.
So that's what we're going todo.
We need to measure it out andget the new system up there.
All right, so where we are nowis we have hopefully trimmed
(25:45):
this piece the right way andwe've moved the downspout
further in.
So now the goal is going to beto reinstall the gutter and the
downspout and re-secure it, orsecure it, I should say, back to
(26:09):
the roof, hopefully using thepre-existing holes.
That I did already, which Iguess, if I was a smart man
which I don't typically resembleI'd actually not slide off the
(26:31):
roof.
That'd be great, but you notslide off the roof.
That'd be great there.
I really worried about that one.
We could take in this bracketoff and I could go ahead and
install this bracket, which willalso double, to hold this pin,
(26:56):
this end up, hold this end up,while I get the other side going
and the guys that put thissoftened on I don't know where.
(27:21):
It's such a crap job.
If my dad saw how they did this.
I only say that not because, like, oh, my dad, it's not that.
My dad's been in constructionfor pretty much ever.
(27:44):
He really knows what he's doingand I learned a lot of what I
know about building stuff fromhim.
In fact, all the woodworkingthat I do really stems from what
(28:04):
I learned.
So I don't know what I'm doingto keep turning this off or
where I'm cutting off at, butI'm going to keep going.
I'm sure I'll find out inpost-production.
Either way, a lot of what I do Ilearned from my dad and if he
saw the work these guys did, hewould shake his daggone head
(28:29):
because this is some of thecrappiest shoddy work I think I
have ever seen.
Like I don't understand howthese guys did this and like
proud of what they did.
Granted, I know they're justtrying to turn a book.
That's not the point.
But now I'm stuck trying to fixwhat they screwed up, or at
(29:00):
least work with what theyscrewed up, and when I already
don't know what I'm doing, pretty much when it comes to a
gutter it does not help.
Of course you would slide.
(29:22):
How about you not go anywhereexcept onto this piece, like
that would be fantastic.
Come on, come on, little guy,now my shoulder's tired.
There we go.
Look at that.
(29:42):
I knew what I was doing thiswhole time.
I don't know why you guysdoubted me.
That was built to put up gutters.
It's like this man See, allthis stuff just kind of snaps
together.
It's just like that.
I mean, it's that simple.
Y'all make this out to be wayharder than what it has to be.
I'm just saying I don't knowmuch about anything, but I do
(30:06):
know nothing about a lot ofthings Just saying Don't fall
off my roof there.
That, oh, that's going to betoo much.
Oh well, either way, I'm goingto get this piece put in and the
(30:28):
gutter will be back as long asit comes out, the downspout,
which sadly doesn't look likeit's going to line up where I
need it to, because I am astupid idiot.
Yes, I am All right, I'm goingto attach that there.
(30:53):
Yes, I am alright, attach thatthere.
And then we need to cut it off.
Here now looks like we'recutting it.
I forgot to cut out the.
That's what the problem is.
So I forgot to cut out thesection where the downspout goes
(31:15):
.
I just simply made a mark onwhere it should be and cut.
So that makes a lot more sensenow, and I'll probably have to
trim up the other piece too.
So let's go ahead and get thatdone.
All right, so it ain't pretty,it ain't perfect, but it's up.
(31:41):
We've got the rain chaininstalled here.
So now, as far as I'm concerned,build-wise.
Now, as far as I'm concerned,build-wise, the only thing left
(32:01):
to do is to make the planterthat's going to go at the bottom
.
You can see, probably, maybe Idon't know that this rain chain
goes all the way to the rocks.
So what we're going to do isI'm going to build a planter,
probably be I don't know maybeabout knee high, however tall
that is.
We'll take some measurements.
I'm going to build a quickplanter.
It doesn't have to be anythinggreat, it just has to be
(32:26):
something that is going to beable to stand up the weight of
the rocks.
Because I'm going to take thoselast two bags of rocks and I'm
going to put those last two bagsof rocks into the planter that
the rain chain is going into.
So that rain chain is going togo into the planter, so he rocks
all around it and then, uh,when it rains, theoretically if
(32:47):
these rain chains work, it'llcome down the gutter, come down
the rain chain and kind offilter down the rain chain as
opposed to pour.
It'll filter down the rainchain into the planter.
That'll have some holes in itand that water will basically
(33:07):
filter through those rocks tokind of slow it down.
It'll hit those holes and thenit'll be evenly dispersed
throughout that little arearight there, um, so yeah, like
that'll probably work until weget a good georgia or southeast
freaking storm.
But that's it for now.
(33:28):
I'll, uh, probably remove acouple of these buckets that are
on here, just because there'sno sense in messing them up if I
don't have to.
So, yeah, so making progress.
By the way, I have roughly alittle less than an hour and a
(33:48):
half to get that done, because Ialso decided that I needed a
haircut today, so I scheduled ahaircut with my barber, and the
barber shop is all the way backwhere we've already been, and so
, yeah, so now kind of runningon a timescale, so I'm going to
get back to it.
(34:08):
All right, so it is 3.34 and wedid not get done.
The uh planter is about aquarter of the way done.
We started getting pieces cutup and put together for that,
like I said, it doesn't have tobe anything super big or strong,
it's just got a whole rock.
(34:29):
So that's what we're working on.
Got some cleaning up done, butwe still got to finish cleaning
up everything else.
I tried to get everything donetoday, it just didn't happen.
So, as far as that area goes, that's done for today.
Our day's not over yet, though, because we're going to get a
(34:50):
haircut now, and then, as far asoutside work and stuff like
that, that's over with.
So we're we're gonna go get thehaircut and I will see you guys
, we're done with that.
It has been a hot one.
According to my truck, it is 86degrees.
There's quite humid, because italso rained for 10-15 minutes,
(35:15):
just enough to get the groundwet, and then it stopped.
So it's pretty freaking muggy.
Alright, I'm gonna go get ahaircut now, alright.
Well, it is now just after 5o'clock and just got done at the
barbershop, got all cleaned upand now it's pouring down rain.
So even if I wasn't alreadydone with everything to do
(35:39):
outside today and done, meaningwasn't going to do anymore, this
is guaranteed that that's stock.
So now we are off to the houseand we're going to get ready for
dinner and then wind down.
So we're almost done.
We're almost there, all right.
Well, there you go.
(35:59):
That is pretty much the end ofthe day for me now.
So dinner's done, kitchen'scleaned up, everything's put
away, and got to spend a littletime with the wife, and now
she's gone off to bed.
So it's time to do nothing butrelax and put all these
different little films or editstogether.
(36:21):
Yeah, so that's what it's likebeing with me on a day off.
And yeah, you heard me saybefore that it doesn't matter
what you do as long as you dosomething.
And for those that don't thinkthat that has anything to do
with, you know, having a betterlife or anything, I would argue
(36:44):
different, because even though Ididn't get a lot accomplished
today at least I don't think Idid I got plenty of things done
and I feel good.
Again, I'm somebody that likesto feel like I did something
with my day, so yeah, there yougo.
Until next time, guys, bye.
