Feel that creative spark igniting? I've caught the buzz here in Canton, Ohio, where the anticipation for the solar eclipse has sparked a whirlwind of community events, and I'm pouring my heart into every vibrant stroke. As we gear up for this celestial spectacle, I've been weaving together art installations and classes that echo the excitement in the air. Through this episode, I invite you to join me on this artistic journey, whether you're following from afar on social media or painting along with my new kits featuring local landmarks brought to life with a splash of augmented reality.

The canvas of Canton is bursting with color and innovation, and I'm eager to guide you through this transformative space where art meets technology. Starting in April, I'll be at the Canton Museum of Art, introducing the curious and the creatives to the wonders of Procreate, the magic of frame-by-frame animation, and the timeless satisfaction of traditional canvas painting. Prepare to see familiar sights in a new light and discover how augmented reality can cast a fresh gaze on the beauty around us. Let's leap into this episode and explore how art is evolving before our eyes, and how you can be a part of the movement that's redefining the landscape.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hey, welcome back to Brutally Made Happy Friday.
Happy Friday before the solareclipse.
We are in the path of totalityhere in Canton, ohio, and there
is a lot of buzz going around.
So big, big event and a lotgoing on for me personally, with

(00:27):
community events and artinstallations and exhibits
classes.
I am thrilled, I am just overthe moon excited about all the
stuff I get to create and I hopeyou're following along on
social media.
If you like that kind of thing, love to have you get inspired

(00:48):
by some of the stuff that I'mdoing.
Maybe you can do that in yourarea too.
So that's mainly what thisepisode is about is just a
little connection andencouragement and how it
encourages me to hear somebodywants to know how I do something
and I, you know, am asked toshare it.

(01:10):
Having the ability to sharethat in a classroom setting, be
it virtual or in person, is justso rewarding and I love sharing
and helping people do things tomake their dreams come true and
I happily have been doing that.
I shared, you know, my paint bynumbers with some people in some

(01:33):
of my paint community.
Just, you know helpful hints onhow I create them.
I remember starting them byhand when I did one for a
festival last year and they'vejust, you know, kind of evolved.
And now I'm doing kits and Inever thought there would be
people wanting to buy my kits.
And I'm getting requests andI'm just like what?

(01:56):
Okay, I could do that.
Thank you for being excitedabout them.
I I'm just, I just had no ideaJust sharing that idea to help
really ignite it in somebodyelse.
And then people were like but Iwant what your art looks like
and I want to see your kit.
And I was just like, you know, buy it once to just get an idea

(02:17):
of how I do it.
That's great, I don't know.
It was just so sweet to hearpeople ask me to share that.
So I will be putting those onmy website as soon as I get
things finalized and built.
I will be selling them locallyfor local landmarks here in
Stark County.

(02:37):
So I'm very excited about thoseand they will be augmented
reality too.
So once you are done with yourpaint, you should be able to
watch it come to life.
And there's just like this wholemovement around that here,
using traditional medium andjust giving it another twist to
get you immersed into it and get, maybe, youth more involved.

(03:00):
I shared it to a popular artmagazine, magazine, the idea of
doing an augmented reality coverfor her issue, and she wrote
back she's like I don't, I don'tsupport that and I'm like, but
I'm not, ai, this is notgenerated by a computer, I'm
drawing these, these and andshe's like, no, I mean, she said

(03:23):
she understood, I think she did, but she doesn't support any
kind of tech.
And you know, totally fine, still love her publication and,
uh, still love following along.
But I, I feel like it's missingan element that could give
somebody a new idea to get theirwork seen by new people, a new

(03:46):
audience.
And I, you know, maybe there'llbe another outlet, maybe
there'll be another magazine orpublication that would be
interested in having a custompiece.
You know, use that technology.
I've done it for sculptors,I've done it for sculptors, I've
done it for food, I've done itfor clothing, posters, maps, my

(04:09):
canvases, my murals, there'sjewelry, I mean there's just
been endless amounts of waysthat I've been able to
incorporate it and it's justbeen so much fun have the
ability to share how I do thatwith our community, starting in
April at the Canton Museum ofArt.
I think I've mentioned thisbefore that I get to teach

(04:30):
Thursday evenings.
We will have a six-week class,so you just need to have
Procreate and your iPad and acell phone, or you can just use
your iPad too.
You don't have to have a cellphone because your iPad will be
able to download the Art of IVEapp and I will be teaching basic
Procreate and basic animation.
We're going to do frame byframe animation and then we're

(04:54):
also going to do traditional art, so you'll be painting a canvas
.
Leading up to that, there'slittle assignments every week to
just get you used to some ofthe tools that you will have at
your fingertips with procreateand, yeah, just trying to show
different ways to use both soyou can still work in your

(05:18):
traditional mediums but look atnew ways to incorporate
technology and do more with it.
You know I want people to feellike they can create products if
they want with their items, useit for gifts and there's just a
whole, I think, stream offinancial success with your art

(05:45):
that a lot of artists don'trealize when they're going
through traditional school.
So I think that there's a biggap between fine art and graphic
design, and here I'm learningthese things, applying them to a
business sensibility of.
I'm going to work in amarketing department or I'm

(06:06):
going to work for a graphicdesign firm and this is what
this is used for advertising, advertising, advertising and I'm
wanting to expand your mindbecause I do that.
That's.
That's like my nine to five.
I get that.
You know I don't want to keepeverybody on that one little
tiny path.
There's so much more to usingart for education and connection

(06:31):
and getting that human responseand doing things to help others
.
So that's what's important tome and I get to share that
whenever I get to do events likemy paint by number stuff.
I get to do that when I do livepainting.
So I'm very excited that that'sgoing to happen.
Every month, starting in April,I will be at the Home and Garden

(06:56):
Show with the 720 Market.
We will be making giant paperflowers at Camp Creative.
So watch for that and pleasecome by and sign up so you can
take home a giant paper floweron a stick that you're going to
walk around with.
They're going to be a lot offun and I'll have some on
display.
And then, yeah, that's going tobe the beginning of my journey

(07:19):
with 720 every month for therest of the year.
We have camps.
The beginning of my journey was720.
Every month.
For the rest of the year wehave camps, we have doing live
painting, all kinds of facepainting, so I'm very excited to
be part of those events withthe 720 market group.
Oh my gosh, so so excited tohave that outlet all set up.
Just this year is just one ofthe most exciting years for me

(07:43):
for art in a very, very, verylong time and I am just thrilled
that it's finally coming tolight.
It's been a long journey.
This is not overnight.
It has been a very long journeyand it just keeps getting
better.
I just love the response thatpeople have with my work and I

(08:03):
love being able to create thingsthat make people visualize
their dreams again, and I'mhappy to teach how I do that,
and there's nothing that I cansay enough about learning
something new.
You just never stop.
I will never stop learningsomething new.
I love it.
You just never stop.

(08:24):
I will never stop learningsomething new.
I love it, and just wanted toencourage you to participate as
much as possible where you're at, in the journey that you're on
and sharing.
Sharing is caring.
I like that monster thing.
Scaring is caring.
That was their little take onit.
And, oh my gosh, I startedsketching and forgot to even
like mention that I'm drawingmailbox from Hila Lovey's prompt

(08:47):
.
Oh my goodness, I just was likeso excited to sit down and talk
to you.
I wish that mail never ends.
It's always nice to get thathandwritten correspondence, a
card.
I love sending cards.
It just seems like it's one ofthe very few forms of

(09:08):
communication that is still oldschool, I guess, and it's just
so lovely.
And yeah, we all get junk mailand stuff like that.
But I can remember when it was abig deal to get your um, your
name on letterhead and getpersonalized stationery and I
always grew up wanting a deskwith one of those paper blotters

(09:30):
on it and that you had like adiary on it.
I would like circle those inthe Sears catalog, the French
provincial little girls canopybedroom sets with the desk and
the drawers.
I dreamed of having one ofthose so much.
I wanted one so I could likehave all of my papers and
stationery and pens and I justalways wanted that.

(09:53):
I loved it.
It was so pretty and I lovehaving your space.
I always tried to make sure mygirls all had desks so they had
their space to put their stuff.
It was very important to me.
They probably look back and thethings that I thought were just
so like necessary, they're likeI don't care.
But there were things I nevergot and I always wanted.
And you know, I wanted to makesure that they you know, when

(10:16):
they wanted something, I did mybest to provide that so they
could get that experience anddecide, yeah, I really wanted
that, or no.
This wasn't as big of a deal asI thought it was going to be.
So don't we all do that, especially with parents or
friends?
You know, you see somebody thatneeds something or wants
something and you want them tohave it.
You want them to have thatexperience.
I'm very much, you know, thattype of person, but just wanted

(10:42):
to share a little bit, doodle alittle bit and just say hi and
say thank you to everyone whohas supported me and has been
attending the events.
I had a great helper this weekat the event I did for Compass.
Sexual Assault Awareness andthe Goodwill groups got together

(11:02):
.
It was with a purpose and Jayfrom Compass helped me with all
the people painting and it wasphenomenal.
We would have four people atthe canvas at one time, multiple
times throughout the night, andthat's the most I've had at an
event like just one, and peoplewaiting in line, and she was
just such a huge help makingsure pallets were cleaned and

(11:25):
brushes were cleaned and peoplehad the right color and the
right number and we were fillingthings in, trying to get things
done and we had three hours andwe it was nonstop.
It was, it was great.
We almost got finished, butthey got to take the canvas back
and there'll be a littleproject for them to finish up
and yeah, it was just wonderful.
So, jay, if you're listening, Ilove that.

(11:46):
We got to connect and I got tomeet you and work with you that
night and you were just heavensent, lady, beautiful girl.
Just appreciate your talent, your passion, your time with me.
Just thank you, thank you, thank you.
So everyone, have a wonderfulweekend, happy Friday, doodle

(12:07):
your mailboxes, they're so cuteand, yeah, I'll talk to you next
time.
Take care.
Bye-bye.
