My Kickstarter is BACK!

Dreams have a funny way of knocking on your door more than once, and when they do, it's a sign to listen up. This episode is that second knock for me, as I'm thrilled to share the comeback of my studio store dream, a beacon of creativity that's been waiting patiently in the wings.

Buckle up as you're now a part of this adventure—my dive into relaunching a Kickstarter campaign with renewed vigor and a more realistic goal. I'm talking nuts and bolts of turning an empty space into a buzzing teaching gallery, maker space, and community beacon for art lovers and creators alike. With a fresh goal of $15,000, we're getting down to brass tacks, focusing on essentials like that all-important lighted sign, and I'm bringing you along every step of the way.

Your support can take shape in many forms, and I'm laying out all the options with the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store. Tune in to discover how you can leave your mark, quite literally, with our backer mosaic mural that’ll grace the walls of our future creative haven. I'm detailing the tiers of tangible gratitude, from digital artwork and snazzy stickers to custom t-shirts and even opportunities for local artists to feature in our gallery. This isn't just my dream—it's a collective canvas, and with your help, we're about to paint something extraordinary.

So, gear up for a story of resilience, community, and art unfolding in real-time, right in our backyard.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
hey, welcome back to a new episode of brutally made
and uh, this is a deviation frommy normal um time of release.
It's still friday.
It has been a fr Friday all dayand it has been a special
circumstance because I feel likethis is a little deja vu.

(00:29):
My sketch today is going to besome actual images and maybe
some doodles from my projectthat is back in my sites and
that is my studio store way backwhen I launched the podcast.

(00:51):
And the opportunity that I hadin October of last year to have
a studio store has presenteditself again to me and I took a
look at the space again, whichis still available, and changed

(01:12):
a little bit.
That's been cleaned out andsome things have been done to it
and it is now available againto me.
And I am super excited aboutthis because I feel like this is
like calling my name and it issupposed to be my space and it's

(01:33):
supposed to be my teachinggallery and my studio and shared
maker space center to holdgreat, you know, make and take
crafts and just be a communityresource for creativity and art
and, you know, fun shoppingexperience right here in my

(01:55):
backyard.
And I had to relaunch myKickstarter.
I had to reevaluate the totalstarter.
I had to reevaluate the total.
I know in October I was wantinga very lofty $50,000, because I
can't do this by myself, Ican't, I need help.
And I kind of reassessed okay, what do I need to at least get

(02:19):
started?
And I know one of the biggestexpenses is the lighted sign.
That's a requirement for thespace and, knowing the cost of
that, that is a big chunk, majorportion of the new total.
I'm looking for $15,000, whichis still a lot of money, but

(02:44):
it's way less than the originalthought.
And it's because I want to justget in the space and I am
prepared to do everything that Ican with my own two hands and
recruiting my husband along withme.
He is so supportive.
Of course we're both just likeon eggshells, like oh my gosh,

(03:05):
just want this to work, wantthis to come to fruition, want
to do everything we can to makeit happen and I'm going to try
again.
So here I am, back full circle, but with changes and asking for
support.
I've got four levels of umcampaign goals and rewards of $5

(03:31):
donations.
I'm going to create a mosaiccompilation of images of
everyone that supports theproject and it'll be a
downloadable digital print andyou'll be part of that artwork.
So there's a little samplepiece there giving you an idea
of how that mosaic would lookand you can print that off as a

(03:55):
thank you and I'm going to makethat actually a mural in the
space so you will be permanentlyon the walls of the space once
it is done.
So that's the five5 level ifyou contribute.
If you choose to do a $10 level, there is an additional sticker

(04:20):
with the print that I will sendto you.
That was just a sample one.
I may design a different typeof thank you sticker, but just
giving you an idea that I wantto do a nice big, four by four
inch vinyl sticker that you canput on your you know tablet,
your computer, your water bottle, whatever Stickers are great,

(04:43):
but I wanted to do a thank youthere.
So for $10, you get to be partof the digital piece and you get
the sticker.
And then the next level is 25.
And that is going to be at-shirt.
I am going to do a customt-shirt.
That's just a sample one shownof a fun design representing
your contribution and help forthis project and that would be a

(05:10):
lot of fun to.
You know everybody wearing that, and again, that's just a
design representation.
I haven't designed the finaldesign, but for a $25, you know,
support that's what you wouldget, plus the sticker, plus be
part of the mosaic.
And then the $50 level issomething more local, something

(05:33):
more geared toward one of thereasons I want to have this
space.
So if you are a local artist Ihave 18, I believe, spaces
reserved one per month forsharing my space with an artist
so they can put their pieces inthe shop, so I can highlight and

(05:58):
share what other makers in ourcommunity are doing.
So eyes on your work.
That may not happen.
Maybe these shoppers, maybethese community members aren't
going to the locations thateither you're at, maybe you
don't have a studio sellingspace and you want the
opportunity to show what you'redoing.

(06:20):
That is what I want to do.
I want to share my space withother artists so you would be
exhibiting once in your choice.
So if you back that level, youget to choose the first month

(06:41):
between when I would be opening, which, if this all works out,
it would be July into June, Iguess so or July.
You would be there and youwould have the choice of the
rest of the months of this yearand I just, you know, budgeted
out the next 12 months for thefollowing year, so the next year

(07:02):
and a half.
I'd love to be able to scheduleout different artists.
It's $50.
So that would be yourcontribution in supporting the
space.
But other than that, anythingthat you would sell while you
were exhibiting for that month, that's yours.
I'm not taking a percentage, Iam sharing the space out of just

(07:24):
pure love and commitment toother artists here in the
community, for you, theirbenefit.
I want to showcase them and Iwant you to be able to see the
power of that and you knowselling your pieces.
So I'll just be that resource, you know, for you while you're

(07:46):
there, for that, for that month.
So that's, you know, my rewardback, I guess more or less.
But you would get a shirt andyou would get a sticker and you
would be part of the mosaic, themural.
So that is a special level Ihave for those artists and I
would love to see that you knowcome back to you a hundredfold

(08:10):
and you know be beneficial tocelebrating what you do and
giving people the ability to seewhat you do.
If you don't have that already,or maybe you do and they're
just, you know, in a differentpart of the county or wherever
in our community and you knowyou just don't have that that
spot.
So those are my levels and Ireally do want to make it know

(08:35):
affordable to support and fun, and, you know, between all the
platforms that I'm on and allthe love and support that I get
from everyone already, I justwant to make it, you know,
accessible, because it reallydoes take a lot of people to
make dreams come true.

(08:55):
I love supporting otherpeople's dreams and I know I
have a great community that doesthat for me.
So, yeah, I mean that's reallyeverything you know that I
thought would be beneficial andhelpful and maybe help me meet

(09:16):
this goal, because I reallyreally really want this space.
I really want to see this turninto just a great location.
I would love to have theability to you know have, make
and take parties, and you knowparties and you know have my

(09:41):
custom, you know pieces that Imake available in, you know
larger quantities and getting tohave the central location to
have other people's piecesavailable in my shop and it has
this great center room that Iwould be able to have, you know,
parties, and for I mean kidspainting and sculpting things,

(10:01):
and just there's just so manythings in my mind that I can do
with this space and I want totake the time to have a place
open, you know, after like fiveo'clock, where all the people
that are over there, with allthe great restaurants that are
there and the ones that arecoming in, they can hang out and
have a cool thing to do and seeand just explore, whether you

(10:24):
know waiting on a table orthey're waiting on their friends
, and it's just, you know, agathering space, a community
space, and that's just a dream.
I just, I want to make this, this happen and it's back.
It's the opportunity is backand I, I have to try, I have to
go for this.
There's, it's just it.

(10:46):
It has not ever left my mind andI couldn't believe, when I got
a call, that it was stillavailable, because I've seen all
the activity happening overthere and I thought it was gone.
I I never heard back Ihappening over there and I
thought it was gone.
I never heard back.
I had seen it and I didn't hearanything back and I didn't know
that it was still available tome.
I thought it was taken and youguys were so great and so

(11:10):
supportive through the firstround.
And here I am again and, yeah, Ineed your help.
So I'm back and I'm gonna makethis happen and I just had to
share it again and it's justtaken the whole day to get
through my regular nine-to-fiveand then celebrating some friend

(11:32):
and getting to see the spot andyeah, and getting a chance to
talk about it and get thekickstarter back up, and so that
is the reason for the latepodcast post tonight and I'm

(11:52):
excited.
If you can't tell, I hope youcan tell.
I hope you can feel theexcitement in my voice and know
that this could reach past mycommunity and you know, still
have my online boutique andwebsite and all that stuff too.
But just to be able to havethat spot and that space and get

(12:15):
to do the art that I love to doand the community,
collaboration and meetingeverybody in that location is
just a dream.
So I would love, love, love, your support Really from the
bottom of my heart.
It means the world to me.
So thanks for listening, thanksfor being here, thanks for

(12:40):
putting up with me and join meon this journey.
Let's see where it goes.
Okay, have a wonderful weekend.
If you're going to the home andgarden show tomorrow, I will be
there.
We've been making flowers theyhad the flowers there that I
created and it's just going tobe so much fun.
And then tomorrow night we havepalette to palette for Star

(13:05):
Cunger Task Force.
So excited to have supportedthat initiative and very excited
to be there tomorrow night tomeet everyone and get to talk to
everyone.
So, yeah, big art day onsaturday and then sunday still
have some spaces left availablefor ellie and I meeting everyone

(13:25):
at fromage de monde, downtowncanton from one to three for our
live stitch event.
So those tickets are stillavailable too.
I'm really excited about thegroup we have gathered already.
But, yeah, the whole weekend isjust nothing about creativity
and it just warms my heart so somuch.
And then this just was like thebiggest kickoff for the weekend

(13:49):
to get this phone call.
So thank you so much and Ican't wait to continue to share
how it's going.
So take care, have a greatevening.
Bye.
