Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hi, welcome back to Brutally Made.
This has been a great firstweek and a few days of the
opening of my storefront and Iam learning so much, getting to
meet so many people in mycommunity and really, oh my gosh

(00:26):
, the classes, schedulingclasses, creating classes,
getting those samples createdand put on my website as
available.
It's been phenomenal.
So that's what I want to talkabout today.
So today's sketch though theprompt is from Elo Lovey on

(00:46):
Instagram and it's instrument, and I thought that was kind of
fitting because I would love tohave a class with some lessons,
like a six-week running coursein something, maybe guitar.
I had a lady that stopped bythat has a harp and she was

(01:07):
talking about you know playingthe harp and I was like, oh, I
wonder if she teaches that Everytime somebody shares their
passion.
Do you share that?
Do you know how to teach that?
Do you want to teach that?
And it's a great conversationstarter, but it's a genuine
question because I love learning.
I will never stop learning andI love sharing new ideas.

(01:31):
Just when people hear thatthere's a space that they could
gather their friends and we cantake a class, we could learn
something new.
You don't need to know how todo this.
You don't need to be aprofessional and no, never, not
at all.
This is kind of like look atthings on Pinterest and I want
to know how to do that.

(01:51):
Let me know, I'll create aclass for it.
I love their face, I love theirexpression, I love how they
light up and it gets themexcited about learning something
creative.
And that's the whole point.
That's the whole.
You know, objective of thisspace is that, at any age,

(02:13):
anybody, I want them to enjoybeing creative and finding that
in anything that they do.
And it really does help in allrealms of what you have on like
a day-to-day basis.
Creativity helps in business, ithelps in manufacturing, it

(02:34):
helps in research anddevelopment.
It helps not just in someonewith an artistic interest.
Everybody needs to understandhow creativity plays in a
day-to-day life.
You know, even if you are aparent and have young ones and
you're like, oh, I see thiscreative, you know spark and I

(02:56):
want to foster that, and theyaren't, I guess, interested in
something that you wouldconsider a traditional craft and
maybe it is something in adigital world, you know, there's
, we have, I have classes, I cancreate classes for that.
That's just as important assomeone that is interested in

(03:16):
painting, because it translatesinto so many different things,
even in sports being creative.
How do you think those plays andstuff are developed?
It's creativity.
It's like what am I going to beable to do that somebody else
isn't doing?
That's going to be effectiveand that takes a creative mind,
and so I just love the fact thateveryone coming in has some

(03:41):
sort of like light bulb thatcomes on when they see either a
craft kit that I have available,a paint kit, a coloring book, a
class lesson, a sample.
Even if it was a piece ofclothes and it's something that
I have my designs on.
They're like how did you dothat, you know?
How did you create a pattern?
How did you, you know, drawthis?
How did you get this on theseclothes?

(04:02):
How did you, you know, makethis?
And it's just a greatconversation starter.
I'm still getting the ones thatthink that I'm a brewery or a
coffee house, and I love itbecause it's still just a way to
just start a conversation andthey laugh and then they walk
around and then they're blownaway and I just get so much joy

(04:24):
from that.
I mean that this is bringing meso much joy and this has been
just so energizing and positiveand I am blown away and I
already have like five teacherson the schedule and my goal is
to see if they would come on acall for an episode each month

(04:48):
and talk about their passion, ofwhy they're doing what they're
doing Because some of them haveother full-time jobs too and do
something else but they'reteaching a beautiful, creative
lesson and I want them to talkabout it.
We have a port acrylic artistand she has jewelry in the shop

(05:09):
and she's going to have a class.
That's a new one.
I have a bonsai tree class andhe is also a teacher.
He's an an educator, but he hasthis amazing bonsai um business
that's booming and I have soldout half of that class.
Um, our hands-free or, I'msorry, hand knit instructor with

(05:32):
tools free and arm freeknitting um, our classes are
sold out until the last one indecember and I have two spaces
left and I haven't even looked.
It could are sold out until thelast one in December and I have
two spaces left and I haven'teven looked.
It could be sold out becausethat's a fun class and everybody
loves yarn arts.
Either it's weaving orcrocheting or it's knitting, and
so I would love to have Carrieon and have her talk about her

(05:55):
passion.
She's self-taught and now she'steaching that and it's a lot of
fun, let's see.
Oh, we gotta have Jude on.
Jude is a photographer and soshe has a two-fold class.
It's two days in a row, oneweek back-to-back, but it gives
you time to do some homework andthen, when you're done with
that class, you're going to beable to have that final picture

(06:18):
that you're taking placed on apuzzle that you'll be able to
share with your family andfriends and talk about the class
that you learned how to useyour digital camera in, and so
you know, I'd love to have Judeon to talk about that class.
And then I've got paintingclasses and I have sculpture
painting classes for a black cattreat bucket for the holidays I

(06:43):
have.
The painting class is anaugmented reality little ghosty
that you're going to paint, andthen, when you're done, the
little ghosty will fly off thecanvas and then back on, and so
something to share with yourfamily and friends when you hang
out.
Just really kind of cute andfun.
It's for all ages.
I'm getting ready to do, sincethe yarn classes are so big,

(07:05):
we're going to have a knittingmachine class and you're going
to make a set of three pumpkinsand so a variety of ways to make
the stems out of foundmaterials, and yeah, so that's
going to be another way that youget to do your yarn arts.
I have a punch needle classthat you get to make a cute
little coaster patch and thenyou're going to adhere that onto

(07:27):
an accessory bag.
So that's another class thatyou'll get to do.
Stuff them like yarn art typeof you know fun things with.
Just there's so much more.
I have a book class book fromone of my favorite Halloween
movies, and you'll be creating abox that will look like the

(07:52):
favorite book in the movie thathas an eye that looks forward to
you.
So that's real spooky, but yeah, so that's a class.
Oh, my goodness, just so manythings.
With the holidays coming up,there's so many interactive and
fun you know events that I wantto hold and so I've got to get
all of those on.

(08:12):
And it's just, man, I'm just soexcited.
It's just got such greatfeedback.
So many people have been in totalk to me about it so they can
share it, and I appreciate everyone of them for that I have to
give a shout out to Amy.
Oh my gosh, amy Pleasant, fromSeattle, is an amazing artist

(08:36):
and she was in the Canton areaat the Canton Museum of Art for
her exhibit and, my gosh, thepaintings were just phenomenal
beautiful the colors, thetextures, the stories, just
everything.
I was blown away.
I loved it.
And she was back in the areaand she came in to say hi and I

(08:57):
was just like fangirling.
I was just like blown away thatshe took a moment to do that,
to say hello, and I just lovedhaving her in.
I got to see her for a moment.
She went away with a Cantont-shirt.
So thank you, amy, for thatsupport and I am just thrilled
to follow her journey.
She's so inspiring.
I mean, I just love seeing herwork, it's just gorgeous and it

(09:22):
was just an honor to have her inthe studio and for her to take
a moment of her time to sayhello to me.
So that meant the world tothank you, amy.
I mean people are inspiring andI just feed off of that.
I love learning, I lovelearning, I love sharing and I
love supporting and so those arethe main goals of this location

(09:46):
and if you haven't heard, thatgenuinely come from me in any
kind of you know, either videoor report or anything.
Please hear it from me rightnow, because that is the whole
goal of this space and I stillneed a September artist.

(10:06):
I still need someone to displayan exhibit for September and I
would love to have all theirartwork on that wall.
I'd love to have them on anepisode to talk about what they
do and if they would like toteach, that would be another way
they could make their incomefor their creativity.

(10:27):
Remember, if you sell anythingfrom your exhibit and your
gallery wall, it's 100% yourproceeds.
I mean I don't take anycommission.
I want to promote the artistsin the area, in a surrounding
area, and I want them to haveeyes on their art and people to
appreciate their work.
And I just want to be a littlespot for that.

(10:49):
I mean, I'm not thousands ofsquare feet, but I am here and I
have people coming in andthere's no reason in the world
not to support and share Anothercreative thing I want to do so,
if any of the plaza restaurantsand businesses are listening, I
want to do a progressive mealthroughout the plaza.

(11:10):
I think we're going to be ateither eight or nine breweries
or restaurants within the plaza.
So I would love to have a fewlike meal.
I want to say, like plans puttogether, that they would be
stops at different locations, soone place would be an appetizer
, one place would be a salad, the next place would be an

(11:34):
entree and next place would havea drink, and then you would end
at my shop with the support ofone of the other restaurants to
provide dessert and that dessertwould be served at my shop and
you would take a moment to havethat and create a craft.
And so you would get to havethis whole experience of this
progressive meal and then endmaking something creative with a

(11:57):
great dessert.
And what's nice is that youknow it's kind of a surprise.
So when you go to theserestaurants, what you get is
something maybe you've never hadbefore.
So all I need to know is like adietary restriction and I'd
love for the restaurants toparticipate and maybe we could
limit.
I mean, I see 20 out in mypublic classes in the tables, so

(12:20):
that would be the limit and Iwould just love to have that
available.
I think the public would lovethat.
You know the amphitheater iswrapping up here at the
beginning of September.
I think the last concert atleast scheduled is the first
week of September, the week ofLabor.
I think the last concert atleast scheduled is the first
week of September, the week ofLabor Day, that Thursday, and it

(12:42):
would be fun to do this onThursday night.
But yeah, so if you're a plazarestaurant, you're listening and
you would want to participatein something like that, let me
know.
I'm trying to reach out to findout if they have like a monthly
or I don't know, quarterlymeeting that I could talk to
everybody.
And I'm trying to reach out tofind out if they have a monthly
or I don't know quarterlymeeting that I could talk to
everybody.
And I'm going to try to make aflyer up.
Oh yeah, in my spare time to dothis.

(13:04):
But I want people to experienceeverything in the plaza.
I would love to do it duringthe day, maybe like on a
Saturday in the afternoon, so itcould be like a shopping day
because, like the bird's nest isthere, it could be a beauty day
.
There's a nail place, libby hascosmetics, so there's a lot of
fun things, even during a workday.

(13:25):
I don't know during a weekdayif that would work.
I know that's when Libby isopen, but I just think it would
be fun to have like a beauty dayand you get to have like a
lunch, a brunch or I don't knowwhat you would want to call it,
and you get to go shopping andyou get to get your nails done
and maybe you would go get ascalp treatment and you know,
and then you would have yourmeal and then you would end with
a fun you know, like little funcraft at my shop.

(13:48):
So again, I just want toinvolve everybody in the plaza,
because everybody's doing suchamazing things and everyone
really loves that location.
And, again, just trying to thinkcreatively and how you could
incorporate as many people aspossible.
So that is really.
You know, what this episode isabout is just sharing and being

(14:13):
passionate about your dreams andbeing creative in every aspect
that you can.
So I can't wait to talk to younext time and share what's been
going on and hopefully have oneof the artists on so you can
learn a little bit about them.
So instrument, so I hope you doit a little long.
If not, it's okay.

(14:33):
You can just have that in theback of your mind and when
you're waiting, do something.
Maybe you'll a little long.
If not, it's okay, you can justhave that in the back of your
mind and, when you're waiting,do something.
Maybe you'll just start drawing.
So you were brutally made.
Thank you for being with me andI will talk to you next time.
Bye.
