Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, you welcome to
Build the Damned Thing, a place
where myself, Tiffany Largy andour amazing Do the Damned Thing
coaches show you how to use yourstory to build it all, whether
it's your first six figures, your next layer of multiple six
figures, or maybe you're on yourway to a minute, and if it's
(00:22):
not, that it's the life of yourdreams where you are free, you
are strong and you are whole.
First, we're going to show youhow to use your story to build a
strong foundation, and then, next, we're going to show you
how to use your story in salesand marketing to clean up the
cracks.
And last but not least, we'regoing to show you how to use
your story to gather people, because the truth of the matter
(00:44):
is that there's nothing strongerthan being connected to people
who just understand you as youare where you are, so you can
stop explaining yourself.
I want to remind you that, nowthat you're here, you are home
and I officially welcome you toour family.
All right, let's get started.
Listen, money is time and timeis money.
(01:07):
I don't even know how else tosay this.
As I was looking at this, Ithought to myself you know what
if we respected time for what itwas.
And I'm not talking to theperson who's always late or
things like that, because that'sme.
I'm talking to the person whois doing a little bit of things
all over the place instead ofbulk doing things.
So I'm going to give you threemoney habits and, as you think
(01:31):
about building, moving forward, three things that you need to
stop doing and start doing, andthis is going to all be under
four or five minutes.
Number one doing a Facebook Liveevery single morning, doing
some form of creative everymorning, as you think about this
.
So I've taught on day one, Itaught from this sheet and this
(01:52):
comes from our DTDT world, soI'll share this some form of
activity.
So, let's say, in your activityyou were like you know what I'm
going to do?
A Facebook Live.
I'm going to shoot a videoevery day.
Okay, you're going to shoot avideo every day.
Okay, but stay with me Do youreally have the time or the
bandwidth or the consistency toactually execute that every
(02:13):
single day?
I know for me that there wouldbe impossible for me to commit
to every morning doing acts, especially if I were doing it
from home, Like that's wild.
I'm in a studio right now andour company has a brick and
mortar studio, so everything isset.
I walk into the building and wehave, in Studio B, an entire
room dedicated to me doing this,so it's easy for me to pull it
(02:35):
off.
But let's say I wasn't here andI was at home.
I'm trying to commit to doingthe thing and for me, as a woman
I got to put on makeup, I gotto get my hair done, and
sometimes I don't need to do allof that, but that's what's in
our heads.
That's why we're not moving.
We want it to look good, wewant to show up as our best
selves and I'm just saying, baby, I just want you to show up.
(02:56):
So the number one thing I do isI create in bulk.
The last couple of months Ihave not been behaving and doing
getting in front of ourproduction days as a company.
However, we do fit in, liketoday we have someone coming
into the studio, I'm going to berecording with them for another
project and we're going to runthrough about seven to eight
different sets of the same thingand we'll be done for the next
(03:19):
couple of months.
The reason why we create inbulk is because I want to do
setup in one time.
Mental energy one time, focuson one time.
Every time I have to splitdirection and do something else,
I lose money.
Every time I have to splitdirection and be where another
hat, I lose money.
Where can you take two or threethings that you're not doing
(03:40):
and just take the day and get itdone?
I do money and finances one dayNow I do check on things every
day, but I really truly bulk oneday when I'm building a program
or an event.
I really try to sit.
One day, In a couple of daysI'm going to be leaving so that
I can sit and write a book, notsit so that I can get something
big done for our company, sothat I could take it to the next
(04:02):
level.
But I'm going to do it in onesweep.
Everything that I'm achievingor running to do, I try to do it
in bulk so that way I don'tdrop the ball and I'm not
falling behind, because I knowthat the times that I did try to
go, you know what.
We're going to do this thingall the time.
We're going to do it every day.
We're going to do it Tuesdaysand Thursdays and such and such.
It doesn't get done.
Second is what are you wearing?
(04:23):
I get sick watching peoplespend an hour or two hours in
the morning getting readyphysically putting on makeup
here and clothes to get out thedoor.
That is insane.
I don't have that kind of time.
If I spend 15 minutes on myphysical appearance to walk out
the door like you could, youmight think something is sick.
(04:45):
I'm if something is wrong, andthat includes brushing my teeth.
I think brushing my teeth takeslonger than physically putting
on clothes and most of the timeputting on makeup.
Now, right now, I might have alittle more makeup than I
typically do, but even with so,I implore you to decide on what
really matters.
Is it having more time toexecute all the things so that
(05:06):
you're not overwhelmed, or is ittrying to satisfy how you look
to the market?
Did Tiffany just say I shouldlook any old way when I show up?
I did not.
What I've said is that youspend too much damn time on
trying to figure out what to puton.
So you know what I do.
I have uniforms and I almostwore today the same thing that I
(05:28):
wore yesterday.
I actually brought it into thestudio because I'm gonna use it
for something.
I'm recording later this ideathat I need to have a different
outfit every single day and ithas to be cold, coordinated, and
my shoes gotta match mine and Iwant you to look good.
But you could look good Like wehave a team member who wears
some form of a black shirt,t-shirt and shorts every day and
(05:49):
he looks good every day, Likeseven days a week.
He looks good and someone canhit on him and he could hit on
someone with confidence.
He looks good.
What's consistent about him is,as he makes sure his hair is
always cut, I make sure my hairis always done.
I'll spend the time and moneythere, Unless on what I'm
physically wearing.
I have a set of jewelry, eventhough I have a ton of jewelry
(06:11):
in an armoire.
I have a set of jewelry thatI'm my rinse and repeats and for
the most part, I'm going tokeep the same three or four in
front of me or they're gonna bevisually laid out so that I can
rip and run.
So I'm grabbing and I'm puttingthem on.
I am not taking the time.
I do not wear a lot of patterns.
I do not wear a lot of stripesor circles or any of the above,
(06:31):
because that confuses the marketand I have to match.
And also then I becomerepetitive with those visual
identities and solid colors.
My entire closet I think 95% ofit is a solid color, because
that way I am fresh and clean.
If I am not wearing somethinglike this, I am wearing a
company shirt with pants andthat is it.
(06:53):
That is it Same pants, sameshoes, same shirt.
Keep it simple.
Reduce the amount of time thatis taking to do things that
don't matter and pressing peoplethat don't matter, and take
that time and put it into thethings that will help you put
more dollars in your bankaccount, allow you to be more
confident and to feel strongerin what you do.
I'd rather see you take theother 45 minutes and spend time
(07:14):
talking to someone that you careabout versus getting ready Now.
Back in the day when I got to myvery first six figures, I went
and I made an outfit.
I went and I had my shirtembroidered with a logo, bought
the shirt from JC Petty, boughta pencil skirt black pencil
skirt from JC Petty and backlessshoes from Payless.
Back in the day when Paylesswas a thing and I would wear
(07:36):
that, I had two sets.
I would wash them every otherday, wear them five days a week.
I'm kind of thinking of doingthat now.
I'm almost thinking of tryingto see if I can pull off like
the guys like Steve Jobs andMark Zuckerberg.
Like I don't know if I can, butI feel like I'm gonna try.
And the reason why is becausethat 10 minutes in the morning
times five is an hour gone inthe week, An hour gone in the
(08:02):
week me putting on clothes totry to impress somebody.
If I look good in that outfiton Tuesday, I'm gonna look good
in that same outfit on Thursday.
Why does it need to be different?
I don't wanna go on a rant here, but I, you know, the older I
get, the more I find peoplespending time on all the stuff
that just doesn't matter.
You know that nobody's gonnacare when we die how many times
(08:24):
you change your outfit or whatyou look like, or if the shoes
actually matched, If you lookamazing in that prom dress.
Wear the flipping prom dressevery day.
I'm dead serious.
Sounds crazy, but guys do it.
Guys wear the same suit all thetime and even so, they really
don't have to like you, reallydon't have to be variety, you
(08:47):
just have to be at the top ofyour game.
If you're like Tiffany, well, Ionly like Gucci.
Great, Wear the Gucci suit fivedays a week, I don't care.
Just spend the time in whatmatters, get away from what
doesn't matter and be clear thattime is money and money is time
.
Time is money and money is timefor sure, and we're both
running out of it.
There's an infinite amount ofmoney out there.
(09:09):
There is not as much time, noteven close.
Ask yourself an honest questionhow much time do you spend
wasting stuff and wasting yourtime on things that don't matter
, physically getting ready inways that don't matter, showing
up for the world in ways thatdon't matter?
And how can you build yourselfa routine?
And if you're like Tiffany, Idon't know, I'm gonna tell you
(09:30):
10 years and having the mostsimplest, I'm gonna get out the
door and look great.
Now I mean great, like, there'slike great.
And then there's another levelcalled like fly.
You know, and I may not alwaysget to that fly level, but I
always look great.
I look good enough that if wesaw our most highest paying
(09:52):
client and or we saw the mayorof the city, that I would feel
proud to represent the companyand I'd feel and my team or
anybody who supports me wouldnot be like, oh God, oh God,
what is she wearing?
For the most part, and I wouldsay I'm like seven and a half or
eight out of 10, seven and ahalf or eight out of 10.
So number three taking action.
(10:15):
That's it.
Too much thinking, not enoughdoing, Too much thinking, not
enough doing.
Too much thinking, not enoughdoing.
Too much thinking, not enoughdoing.
Too much thinking, not enoughdoing Too much thinking, not
enough doing.
You want a big thing to happen.
You have to swing the bat hardenough to actually hit the home
(10:35):
run.
You're not gonna hit a home runby tossing the bat.
I'm trying to hit the bat 10times more than I did the month
before, 10 times.
If I hit the bat 10 times, oneof these is gonna be a home run.
Are you trying to get to a homerun every week or every day?
I'm trying to get to one everyday.
(10:58):
I'm trying to get to one everyday.
I sure as hell have to get toone at least every week.
I hope that episode was amazingfor you and you are closer to
building the damn thing.
I can't wait to hear what yourthoughts were what part you
loved and the action that you'regoing to go take, because the
(11:18):
truth of the matter is that theperson who wins is not the
person who gets there first,it's the person who takes action
first.

It is imperative that you runthere and you see all types of
