This podcast aims to empower listeners with HOPE that healing is possible when you know how. We discuss strategic tools addressing mindset, movement & emotional health.

I am your host, Marion McRae,  physiotherapist & movement addict on a mission to see the existing model of treating back pain evolve. The current model is broken. It focusses almost entirely on the physical body, neglecting the fact that we are all both thinkers and feelers. When the thoughts in our head, and the emotions in our bodies are less than optimal, we fail to thrive.

Dr. Scott Bertrand, a retired chiropractor, shares his journey of developing the All Core 360, a revolutionary rehab unit, born out of his own back pain experiences. His frustration with ineffective rehab methods led him to create a device that challenges the core's survival mechanism through reflexive, subconscious training. By tilting and rotating, the All Core engages muscles dynamically, promoting balance and correcting imbalances, leading to improved posture and reduced pain. Customizable to individual needs, it's used both in rehab and athletic performance training, proving to be a game-changer in both arenas.

Favourite Quotes -

  • "The body absolutely knows how to heal itself... What a good physician does is they take that innate wisdom and then do everything you can to foster that, encourage it, help it along the path that it's doing anyway."
  • "The survival mechanism of the spine and the core is to maintain that perfect posture... We don't get hurt when we're in posture. We get hurt when we're bent over and twisted."

Scott's Top tips -

  1. Evaluate Posture and Daily Habits: Dr. Bertrand emphasizes the importance of assessing one's posture and daily habits. Often, imbalances in these areas contribute to back pain. Individuals should be mindful of how they sit, stand, sleep, and move throughout the day.
  2. Seek Balance: Achieving balance in all aspects of life is crucial for managing back pain. This includes not only physical balance but also balancing activities, habits, and movement patterns.
  3. Develop Awareness: Dr. Bertrand stresses the need to develop awareness of how we interact with our bodies. Rather than operating on autopilot, individuals should actively recognize their role in driving their body's health and well-being.
