All everything.
Website, instagram Um.
Awesome Washington wine focuseduh wine shop in spokane yeah,
yeah throw a littleintroduction zimbabwe in there
(01:14):
um, we have.
We have a wine that we're aboutto open.
It's 2003, from pirouette umit's a drink.
It is a red wine blend.
It's a blend of Deep throat,it's a blend of Cab Sauv, merlot
, cab Franc.
Oh, a little 10% Syrah in thereand some Petit Verdot 3% Petit
(01:36):
Verdot.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
I bet you can taste
it too I bet you can taste it.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
So this is a 2003.
And so I'm going to use thisalso to open it.
Um what happens to courts this, yeah, is an also okay a h dash
s?
o.
Also it's a two-prong wineopener.
Boomers will know this wineopener as just a general wine
(02:04):
opener.
That's super fucking cheap.
Um, usually boomers have thatin their house, which is cool,
but they usually never have souplike aged wines in their home.
So it's kind of funny.
It actually makes it a lotharder to pull out the cork if
it's not aged.
So what happens?
The reason why I'm using thistwo-prong also is because over
(02:27):
time, when the wine is touchingthe cork, the cork will start to
crumble and you do not wantthat, unless you like cork
particles in your wine.
I'm not a fan of it personally.
So you kind of shake this aboutas you're pushing down and then
you grab it like so and thencounterclockwise or clockwise, I
(02:52):
don't care pull up and then, once it's up like this, grab the
base, twist, pull up.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Beautiful.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Pull up or pull out
or pull up.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Pull up or pull pull
out or pull up.
Pull up or pull out, I mean,I'd choose a pull out because a
pull up insinuates somethingelse.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
A child?
Are you talking about a child?
Speaker 3 (03:19):
A pull up.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Like a diaper.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
We don't have kids
yet.
I don't have kids For adults.
We'd rather pull out than pullup.
That is true.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
We're just not at
that age, yet you said, be
unhinged.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Absolutely be
unhinged.
That's enough, thank you.
I don't know where you want meto stop.
I'll just keep going until youtell me to stop?
Oh sorry, I'll just keep goinguntil you tell me to stop.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Oh, I forgot.
You can't read my mind.
I know right, that's good.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Alright, 2003.
Bordeaux Okay, larissa isworking on hers.
She'll get some of this Alittle reductive on the nose.
His knees open up Definitely.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah, you want some.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
All right.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
You'll like it yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Okay, all right,
you'll like it.
Yeah, okay, so it's in thatstage where it's kind of going
into more of a dried leavescigar box, but it's not quite
there yet.
I feel like it's like, as ronbergeny would say, um leather
bound books and rich mahoganyrich mahogany rich mahogany yeah
(04:45):
, there's definitely a lot offennel character in there with
the age um this I just cheers myown microphone there you go.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I know, yeah, I mean
the color there we go.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
The color is browning
.
Um, it's not super garnet rightnow, but I mean, I feel like
this was a very concentrated, very inky, deep young wine when
it was, when it was young, but2003 it's legally able to drink
oh, it's 21 baby it is of age, god.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
That's crazy to think
about 2003.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
What was going on in
2003?
Speaker 3 (05:25):
um, let's see, I was
I was in the third grade no, you
weren't 2003.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
You're in the third
grade when were you born?
Speaker 2 (05:37):
2000, 1993, then yeah
, okay, when were you born?
90 I Me too.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Okay, thank God.
There you go 90.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
See I know that
because every Are you almost
graduating?
Yeah, I graduated in 2012,.
So all my grades went with theyears.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
That's really
convenient.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Oh right, it was
really convenient Okay.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, because the
Chronic 2, Dr Dre's 2001 came
out with the next episode yeahit's the motherfucking
D-O-double-G.
Snoop Dogg yeah, that was, youknow, the first time I listened
(06:25):
to that album.
I was, uh, rv camping here inchelan really yeah, with a bunch
of family friends, likeneighborhood friends.
We all got like rv uh acrossfrom each other, with like the
lawns in between, and so we'dall sleep out on the lawn in um
like blow-up mattresses, whichwas a blast, and there's this
(06:48):
dude, don Morris.
Yeah, don Morris.
And there's this guy way, wayolder than me and I was looking
through.
Back in the day we had albums,we had a full album of CDs.
We'd flip through and just pickone and I saw one with a bright
neon green marijuana leaf on it.
But at the time I was like, oh,it's just like a leaf, it was
(07:09):
just like a maple tree.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah, because I was
so fucking young back in the day
I was like oh, I'm so wait.
Is that a maple?
It's a literal maple leaf, oh,okay because I was gonna people
mistake it for yeah my leaf isdown here.
Yeah, there you go, there yougo.
Now I just put mine right herethere you go um yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
So I was like, oh
cool, let me listen to this.
And I think I was probably 11,12 years old at the time and so
I popped in a cd player, put inmy headphones and I was like
this shit is fire.
Because at the time I was Istarted listening to tupac when
I was like 10 years old and likeeminem when I was like 11.
(07:49):
So pak was my first like ummusic other than like in sync
right, yeah um, and that's whenI started getting into hip-hop
and I've been there ever since.
Um, but now I have a broadermusic taste than just hip-hop,
but back in the day it was justhip hop music.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
But yeah, it was the
only way to go.
It was.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
It was.
It was so far back then.
It was amazing, Especially likewhen I was in middle school 50
Cent came out 50.
Got 50.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Cent.
There's no F in 50.
No 50.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
50.
50 Cent.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
G-Unit 50 cent G unit
.
It was classic.
Ja Rule Ashanti.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Come on now.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
He had a.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Famous beef.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Can't even remember
what the Like concert type was,
but it was like If we went toWow, I'm just like Hungover, we
went to.
Well, I'm just like hungover.
It's like if we went to theGorge for a music festival, but
(08:54):
it was in Seattle Bumbershoot, not Bumbershoot, though, all
right, I'll leave it alone.
And 50 Cent was there and hehad a fifth of Grey Goose and he
popped that thing open like, took off the plastic wrap.
So you saw that it was real andjust fucking chugged it down
and I was like but then I wasalso in high school, I was like
(09:19):
yeah, but he has his own vodka.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Now he doesn't have
to drink Grey Goose anymore.
He's got his own vodka.
Yeah Effin, he's got his ownvodka.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Effin, that's 50
cents.
Effin Vodka is 50s.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Oh my.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Yeah, dude's an
entrepreneur.
He's doing great.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
I might be drinking
Effin from now on.
He has a media company.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah, this is 50.
Okay.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
What's his real name?
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Curtis Jackson 50
real name curtis jackson.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Curtis jackson,
curtis jackson, yeah um, but
yeah, he's, he's doing it, manthat's awesome.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Good for him.
Yeah, he bought um mike tyson'sold home.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Because mike tyson
had this uh period of time where
he was in financial troublesand so he decided to sell his
home.
It was getting foreclosed onand then 50 was like I'm going
to buy this for the low.
So he bought it.
It's a huge mansion, it'sinsane.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Damn.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, 50 is really
good with financials, even
though he went quote unquotebankrupt 50's team is really
good at financials.
Yeah, yeah, and 50's a reallygood entrepreneur.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
He knows what he's
doing, I'll agree with that.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
He knows what he's
doing Got more than 50.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Yeah, Since Got 50,.
You got Finley the dog herechewing the pig ear out here.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
We have have the best
view.
It's a little gloomy outside,yeah A little bit.
Speaker 1 (11:06):

It is Do you taste that?
3% 3%.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Petit Verdot, I can't
.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
I kind of do.
I kind of do.
I mean it's more like aconcentrated on the mid back
palate yeah, um, okay.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
So something that we
didn't bring up on last episode
was my top, your top fivewashington wineries.
I must know and it was whateagle harbor, eagle eagle harbor
, eagle Rock is an area out ofLA.
I think I also said BainbridgeWinery.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
You said Bainbridge,
you said Eagle Harbor, you said
Cardis, I said Cardis, you saidUpside Down.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
No, I said Upside
Down I know you did.
Did you too?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Because they're on my
list too, was it?
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Lada.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
It was Lada, I think
I said upside down.
No, I know you did.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
But Did you too,
because they're on my list too.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Was it Lotta, it was
Lotta.
I think I said Lotta, you saidLotta, and oh and Jane.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
And Jane, yes, yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
That's yes, jane's
dope.
Do you know, jane?
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yeah, okay, yeah jane
, no, I don't, but they're like
I know, but no one's name.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Yes, I'm I just
needed to say, yeah, the winery,
yes, I know the winery.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
No, I don't know
anyone named jane okay you don't
know anyone named jane at allum should I?
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I don't know, it's a
very I feel like it's a very
common name no, I don't knowjane.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
I don't know if I
know jane it's a typical white
girl, we just proved you wrong.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Do you know a Jane?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
I know a few.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
All right, jane Doe,
we get those a lot.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
See, you know.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Jane Doe, john Doe,
all the time.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Yeah, murder podcast.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
You like murder
podcast?
Oh, it's all I listen to.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Man my girlfriend.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Every documentary you
watch.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Yeah, most
documentaries there's a murder
one I mean.
So we started.
What else is there?
Speaker 3 (13:18):
to watch.
There's so many things you canwatch, so many things she's just
like hinting at you.
Like you better watch out.
I know all the ways now.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
I'm the kind of
person that likes.
When I pick something to watch,I just want to relax, so it's
either something interestinglike a psychological thriller,
that's like that will make mymind work, but most of the time,
most of the time, it's likestand-up comedy or something
easy like new girl or likebrooklyn 99, something like they
(13:45):
just gotta comedy, or somethingeasy like New Girl or like
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, somethinglike that.
They just like throw on and justlike whatever.
But if I'm really in a moodusually like weekends, weekends
especially in the morning, ifI'm not doing much in the
morning, which is rare, but I'llput on something a little bit
more crazy.
But, yeah my life is alreadystressful enough as it is.
I don't need any murders goingon but, we did.
(14:06):
I did watch the new ojdocumentary, which was really
interesting, and my girlfriendally didn't really have a
background.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
That much on oj and
I've been wanting to watch it
and so we were, but so it's thatdocumentary is very slow.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
It's a docu-series so
it's very slow.
So the first episode's all abouthow great oj was, how amazing
he was, and this is they'retrying to build up the fall from
grace.
Okay, right, um, and so they'rebuilding up his celebrity, how
everyone loved him, the recordshe broke, the records he still
holds even though he died, um,like a couple weeks ago, like
(14:46):
last week, I think maybe.
Yeah, at this point, yeah, atthis recording, um, and then so
it was a it's, it's a very slowgoing docu-series, and ali was
like, okay, let's get to themurders.
Yeah, let's get to the murder.
I want to know what's going on.
Let's get to the murders.
I totally understand we don'thave, because each episode is
(15:07):
like an hour long and so wedon't have.
This was like yesterday.
We don't have like four hoursof our day to dedicate to OJ.
Right now.
Let's get to the murders.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
It was fun, though.
I saw a funny meme the otherday about OJ.
You know how, like when youknow the golden girl, carol,
someone died oh, carol BurnettBaskins just kidding killed her
husband Wacken remember that oneanyways, one of the golden
(15:42):
girls died and it's like who'snext?
There was that meme of like notthe Golden Girls, and then I
saw the meme of like OJ Simpsonwho's next, casey Anthony?
Who's next?
Casey Anthony, like willing itto happen.
Yeah, I thought it was funny.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Betty White's still
thriving who?
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Betty White.
Betty White, that's who.
It was funny.
Betty white's still thrivingwho betty white?
Betty white that's who Ithought died betty white's still
thriving.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
As far as I know,
she's actually been alive longer
than sliced bread has been, Ithink, betty white yeah, I'm
pretty sure I don't think so shedied she's done my bad's what.
I was saying the golden girlwho died.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
That was Betty White.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Yeah, carol Burnett,
I don't know I don't even know
who that is.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
I don't know why it
came to mind, but it's
definitely Betty.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
White, it's
definitely Betty White.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
Right, larissa, I
know what you mean.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
She's dead.
99.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Hey, she, she's been
alive longer than sliced bread
has been a thing.
Yeah, yeah, everyone says sincebefore sliced bread.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
She's literally
before sliced bread.
Golden Girl's death in order.
Oh, golden Girl's death inorder.
Let's go.
No it's too boring.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
It's too boring, it
is shit Go down the list.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Body dementia.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Done, done, gone End
of an era Unknown.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
That sounds like a
murder documentary.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
I never watched the
show, yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
I've watched it a
couple times.
I mean, I grew up on likeafternoon television.
I can see your mother watchingit no, she didn't really watch
it, she watched friends well shewatched the news, which is
terrible.
That's the main thing that wason.
But when she put something onthat was like just for
(17:36):
entertainment, it was friends, and I was never a friends person
.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
I wasn't either did
we all three just say that at
the same time?
Speaker 3 (17:46):
I thought, it was
boring too.
I get it now.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
I grew up on like the
Cosby Show, unfortunately,
family.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Matters.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah, family Matters.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Oh yes, and Seinfeld,
that's a full house, yeah, full
house.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Frasier.
I never watched.
Frasier was boring to me.
Well, that's what my parentswatched, Even though I grew up
in Seattle, lived there andFrasier was based in Seattle,
apparently it was.
And I was still like Frasier'smore, Because when I was a kid,
Frasier was more for adultentertainment.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Kind of like will and
grace.
Yeah, the same kind of thing, but I was more, I was a kid so I
watched you know, fresh princebella was most of it and then
after I got out of school andthen on tbs.
It was like two episodes offresh prince, two episodes
seinfeld back to back, and sothat's just what I watched yeah,
yeah and so you know, I grew upjust wanting to be will smith
um yeah, now even more mixedfeelings.
(18:51):
Mixed feelings I wouldn't wantto be in his situation maritally
.
Yeah, that sucks.
That's a terrible marriage.
Get out of that one, um, neverin my life.
Um, I was, I was close to thatand I just kind of went, no, no.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
I've seen this before
.
I've seen this before.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
I've seen this before
.
Right when he slapped Chrisrock, I was like no, let's get
out of it.
Um but um, but um, I do respecthim, uh, so a lot will.
Smith.
I think he has a great mindsetand his his more kind of like
matured um advice is veryinteresting.
Like his mental health adviceis really cool.
(19:34):
I think because he has to, youknow, he has to have a good
mental health program to reallycope with this marriage.
So are we making jada?
Speaker 2 (19:41):
the problem?
Speaker 1 (19:42):
is jada the problem
or is it will oh, jada's a
problem, is she, she's a problemokay, no, I'm totally being, I
just don't know all fucked up inthe head.
Okay it's.
It's a lot of ego, there's alot of insecurity because she's
alopecia, right.
So that's why she had to, uh,shave her, her head, which,
(20:02):
coincidentally, tupac also hadalopecia.
He had to shave his head, andjada and pock were friends as
kids in baltimore when he wentto baltimore school of the arts
you know, with jada weird stufflike this yeah, yeah, I'm a huge
pock person hip-hop nerd ingeneral.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Yeah, I'm a hip-hop
nerd, okay, for sure.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
So yeah, when you
know a new album comes out, I
listen to the whole album likethree times.
I just dissect the lyrics, depending on who it is so do we
but for a different artist who's?
Speaker 3 (20:31):
the artist the artist
taylor swift, of course um, I
was actually listening to heralbum the other day and then,
like, going through the lyrics, which I really I'm not really
generally, that person and myboyfriend looks at me and he's
(20:51):
like are you, are you a swifty?
And I was like I don't know ifI'd call myself a swifty and I'm
like, oh, but her and traviskelsey, but they are so cute,
they are.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I love Travis Kelsey.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
I do too yeah the
whole thing's great and I was
like thinking about it.
I was like I feel like Iactually do follow her more than
most.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
I guess yeah, you can
admit it.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
It's a safe space.
No no, it's fine.
Yeah, I'm here for it.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
This is a safe no.
No, it's fine.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Yeah, I'm here for it
um, but yeah, I kind of had the
realization of like, yeah, Iguess, I guess I am a swifty
yeah yeah, I mean my girlfriend.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
She said she's not a
swifty, but she was bumping when
I got here I think I heard tswift up there.
I think low key, she is aSwiftie.
Yeah, that's true, you can butyou know she was dissecting one
of the songs, which is a coolsong.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Which one?
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Thank you, Amy.
It's a big fuck you to KimKardashian.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
And so I was.
I was looking at the lyricsbecause I'm a lyrical dude, so I
look up all the lyrics.
I was like, okay, I want to seeall the shade thrown at kim k.
Yes, not a k kim fan.
Personally, I don't really care, yeah, about that family.
I think they do a really greatjob managing their careers in
marketing.
Um, chris jenner doing a greatjob yeah, great job um for their
(22:19):
personal careers, which isgreat.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
But I'm also.
They're a pile of fucking trash.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Yeah exactly.
Yeah, I don't think you canlump them all into one.
I like Kendall.
Yes, she can be in there too.
I like some of themindividually better than others.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Yes, I agree with
that.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
Courtney Kendall I
like them.
Yes, I've had to.
Yes, I agree with that, courtney Kendall, I like them.
Yes, if I had to pick a few out.
Yeah, big fans, um, but anyways, uh, yeah it was, it was really
interesting, and so I was justkind of dissecting those lyrics
when, like two days ago, twonights ago, when she was, she
(23:04):
brought it up and so I was like, all right, some shade, I'm not
like a swifty.
I personally, uh, creatively,am not a fan just because of her
.
This is going to rub people thewrong way, which is fine for me
, but this is my personalopinion.
Uh, she's very formulaic andeverything she does musically
yeah, that's fine and it's notsuper creative and it's becoming
more redundant.
And there's the same, it's thesame song structure every time.
(23:27):
It's the same chords every time.
Yeah and um.
She also is not that creativeas far as subject matter,
because always the same kind oflike.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Pity me sort of thing
.
I don't I.
I disagree with that that'sfine.
I love disagreements that'sokay, that's totally okay yeah,
but that's just my opinion.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
That's fair, but I
also.
But I will say this she isinsanely great entertainer yeah
and I think she's a very smartbusiness woman yes
the way she recorded all of herso she can own her own masters.
Get out of that deal yeah great, great, fucking idea.
I mean, I don't think a lot ofand her, her effort.
(24:14):
She has great um, she's a veryhard-working person yeah and so
I I respect that, I respect, Irespect her in lot of ways, but
I also just don't like her in alot of ways as far as creatively
.
But that's just me.
But I think she's an awesomeentertainer, though, and she
does a great job.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
You know, like the
fact I watched the heiress tour.
Like I watched, I'm involved.
And so I watched the heiresstour and I respected the hell
out of it and the fact that shewent back to do an unplugged
acoustic version of like herolder stuff, Cause that's what I
was exposed to early on was herolder albums and I loved those
(24:56):
songs.
Um, it's just when she became alittle more pop I was like
turned off a little bit, butthen I came back around to
certain songs because I realizedthat she writes and co-writes
all of her own music yeah um,and she doesn't have anyone that
just like writes a song for herto sing right and so it's.
That's respectful too.
So, yeah, that's just mypersonal take on t swizzy, but I
(25:19):
think she's cool, you know.
Yeah, she's dope.
I I love.
I don't um envy the success atall, like she is doing an
amazing job.
Wind's blowing out there, um,she's doing an amazing job and
I'm glad that she has thesuccess that she has yeah and
she has an awesome fan base.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Yeah, and now she's
got the NFL fan base too.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
I hope she just buys
the NFL just because she can.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Buys the.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
NFL, the whole NFL
Out.
Of spite.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
That would be amazing
.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
I'm sure her and
Travis Kelsey will be the
commissioner Travis will be thecommissioner.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Take over the world,
yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
In Travis, we trust.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
In Trailer we trust.
Yes, in trailer we trust andtrailer oh my gosh, that's crazy
.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
I will say the a lot
of the black community was
bombed because travis has umhistorically dated mostly black
women.
Yeah, so a lot of the blackwomen community was a little
upset with that.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
But it's not T-Swift.
Nobody can be T-Swift, butT-Swift.
Facts, that's a fact yeah, sowhat's going on at the wine shop
?
Let's get back into the winelife.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Yeah, out of pop
culture.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Let's get back into
the wine life, All right so what
do you have looking forward tothis summer?
Speaker 2 (26:45):
and stuff um, okay,
my producer in the background my
producer in the background islike say this okay oh, okay,
that's cool.
Oh, there was a it depends onthe day.
Um okay, so we have a lotcoming up at the shop.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
A lot of really fun
wine.
Think of like a month out fromnow when this actually gets
released.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Okay, so it's late
April, so late May.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
We have Neratif in
June coming for a pouring.
We have Watermill coming for apouring.
We are trying to scheduleCardus for a pouring.
We're Watermill coming for apouring.
We are trying to scheduleCurtis for a pouring.
We're looking for a date forthem to come out.
We have Denise Eisenhowercoming out for a pouring.
We're hosting a couple ofevents with other local
businesses.
Gals Need Pals is hosting awine tasting event at our shop.
(27:41):
Summer's kind of a tricky time.
Everything is like new for usso we don't have any data to go
on.
Okay, yeah, you know.
So we have no trends to followquite yet.
Um, with our own clientele.
So I'm I'm kind of I'm frontloading all of our tastings for
summer in terms of wineriescoming in and winemakers being
there to do in-house tastings.
(28:02):
What else do we have?
Yep, the back of the shop isopening, so we have 1500 square
feet in our shop, but my husbandbuilt a wall to cut it in half
so we could just focus on retailright now yeah pg-13 in the
back.
so we're we're starting torenovate the back, so one fuck
(28:23):
two shits.
Yes.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Yes and one ass All
day.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
How many asses?
Speaker 1 (28:30):
And no fucks, One
fuck right.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Well, maybe all the
fucks.
So the back will be very moody.
So we're starting the designprocess for the back right now.
Religiously neutral.
Religiously neutral yes, it'llbe a little bit of like
prohibition vibes.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
we want it to be
cavernous, we want it to be
library-esque, we want it to bespeakeasy type yeah, a little
bit yeah, so that's dope, sowould that be more like a wine
bar back there not?
Speaker 2 (28:57):
necessarily, so we
also have a whole back patio as
well, that we're gonna fence inand we're gonna pour a little
bit more cement back there andcreate a really cute little
patio space.
The majority of the feedbackwe've gotten is people want
glass pours, people want bottleservice.
That's not the way we intendedto serve the community with the
shop, but we're open to thatfeedback and so what I'm telling
(29:19):
people is that's probably wherewe're trending, but I'm not
rushing into it.
So, our lease is for five years.
We have plenty of time toswitch the liquor license to get
those spaces ready to be ableto expand our services in that
way.
But with the expansion ofservices it means expansion of
staff, it means expansion ofhours, it means expansion of XYZ
yeah.
So I'm just not going to rushinto that.
(29:42):
But to Larissa's point yes, um,we have.
Yeah, the backspace will bereally cool.
It's going to mainly be usedfor over event, overflow, our
club space, um, for club parties, private parties, It'll be nice
.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
Yeah, what's a velvet
glass pour?
You will find out when youarrive.
Okay, I'll find out when Iarrive.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
You'll find out when
you arrive.
Oh, there you go.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
She's your PR person?
Yeah, she is.
I'm like my producer in theback Designer producer.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
PR.
Tell me what to say.
Okay that too.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
So we have a lot of
fun at the shop.
We, when the shop is closed, welock the doors.
We do what the fuck we want.
We draw the blinds and we dowhat we want.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
That's cool.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
We did have these
really lovely steel poles,
multiple of them.
We know they're under the woodand we can take apart the wood
to get to the poles, but myhusband encased them in wood.
They don't rotate, but werotate.
So my husband did most of thehandiwork.
I mean, we had friends andfamily helping us throughout the
(30:57):
whole process.
Larissa built the shelf.
Yes, yes, I keep wanting tocall you eric.
My god, you are one in the sameyes, okay um, so he built the
bars too, which was really cool.
We have these two seven footlong bars and then there's like
enough space for me to like gosideways and squeeze in between,
(31:19):
so maybe like a foot and a halfor something yeah, so he didn't
construct the bars to hold asmuch people as you're getting
correct as much wine as we'regetting.
So what we do to ensure thesafety of those um pieces that
he built is we get bitches onthe bars after hours and we
(31:40):
dance there, you, you go Just totest the structure.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Structural integrity
is really important.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Structural integrity,
exactly.
And he's like, please don't.
And we're like you can't stopus.
What did you expect, eric?
And he's like I didn't buildthese for this reason, and we're
like what did you expect, Eric?
Speaker 3 (31:58):
You built a bar.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
We're getting on it.
Yeah, bar we're getting on it,yeah, exactly he's gonna hold a
person.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
It could hold.
The wine holds multiple people.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
You can dodge a
wrench, you can dodge a ball.
Yeah, um, how many wines do youhave currently in the shop?
Speaker 2 (32:14):
I think we probably
have 70, close to 70, somewhere
between 60 and 70 wines.
There's some overlap.
So, um, I know I have twobottles from two different wines
from two vintners, so there isoverlap in that regard.
But yeah, we have at least 60to 70 different varieties.
I haven't counted recentlyCurated yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
What are your
favorite varieties that you have
?
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Oh, my favorite
varieties.
Well, I'm obsessed with the twovintners Very Necessary.
Yes, I'm really into ChillableReds.
You know it's a seasonal.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
I feel like I'm here
for it, have we?
Speaker 2 (32:51):
talked about this
Chillable Reds.
Chillable Reds.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Yeah, the Sonder
episode that they had a
co-ferment of Grenache andPic-Po-Blanc, ferment of, uh,
grenache, yeah, and piccoultblanc you can even chill his
field blend.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
That was fire.
Yeah, I did in the firstepisode.
But yeah, sage rat again.
Yes, it's the sage rat.
Pet, not rouge yeah put abottle in me, like put it in me,
that's how much I love itreally yeah, I love it little
ivy.
It's not even a cork, it's abottle top.
Remember, I know yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
It's a crown cap.
Yeah, is it?
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Petnat yeah, petnat
Rouge, yeah.
So I'm really into Chilla BowlReds right now.
I'm also okay.
I was on Red Mountain lastweekend and two cannon wine.
They have a white move, ed.
Really that doesn't inspire you.
I don't know what does.
So that really like yes, itlike breathes some life back
(33:51):
into me, because I haveeverything it was like an earth
because typical some for theshop yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Typical move.
That is pretty earthy.
There's some bramblycharacteristics.
Does it, does the white?
Okay, yeah, I was going to sayTypical Movet is pretty earthy,
there's some bramblycharacteristics.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
Does the white
version of that kind of come out
?
It has some of the samestructure, but it's almost like
it resembles more of like a softblanc in a way, huh, or like a
really I don't want to saycreamy, because there's no like
textural creaminess.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
There's no like
malolactic no.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
But it's definitely a
winter white.
So like when I say winter white, it's a heavier body.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
Oh, okay.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Yeah, so it's a
heavier body, white kind of what
we're talking with, likeRoussan Marsan.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Is there oak aged or?
Speaker 2 (34:40):
You know, I don't
know, to be honest.
I just like took a sip and Iwas like that's the wine I'm
bringing home.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
That's interesting.
Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
And I did ask
questions at the time, but I
can't tell you that I rememberthe answers because it was a
long day of wine tasting rightthat day.
But, um, that really inspired mebecause I kind of feel like I
have so many incredible winesavailable to me.
I order them one day andthey're in my shop the next day,
but I always know they're there.
You know what I mean throughdistribution.
And so, um, I kind of need likethat life breathed into me,
(35:11):
which is why I still make thepoint to be doing all the spring
trips, of fall trips, trips inbetween, and speaking of trips,
so you said you were at redmountain last week.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Yes, here this week.
And then this week, while awhile the next week.
So how often are you travelingto stock and are you actually
bringing things?
Speaker 2 (35:34):
home all the time.
Yeah, so that is the purpose ofany trip I take?
I don't necessarily.
I have a rough idea of how muchI would like to bring home for
inventory.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
But if it doesn't
happen.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
It doesn't happen.
I'm not going to buy somethingfor the sake of buying it.
Right, I have to feel inspiredby it, I have to feel connected
to it.
There has to be some sort ofconnection made with the winery,
the winemaker, the winemakingstyle for me to be able to bring
it home and and stock it.
So I always do the spring trips, so Prosser, red Mountain, um
(36:05):
Chelan and Manson this weekend, and then Walla, walla next, and
then so for fall I'll probablyput Yakima and you normally just
do one night, no, I normally dotwo and then so for fall I'll
probably put Yakima.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
And you normally just
do one night.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
No, I normally do two
.
I was going to say, yeah, wenormally do two nights.
We'll talk about our itinerarytomorrow because we don't
necessarily need to rush home, and at this point I'm thinking
like we have a lot of ground tocover tomorrow.
I'm getting the head nod in thebackground.
Yes, so it's usually two nights.
It's just with.
My husband usually travelsMonday through Wednesday or
(36:33):
Thursday and so typically he'sat the airport by 3.30 am on
Monday morning, so I need to behome in order to get the kids.
But we're just trying to pieceit together to be able to make
everything work.
So Walla Walla next week willbe two nights and I think we
have 12 on the itinerary.
I know it's a lot Good luck toyou.
(36:54):
We split and we split whenneeded.
Not this year.
Okay yeah, she did Walla Wallalast year, so I'd say I'm
probably making what averages tobe a trip a month.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Yeah, are you going
to the West?
Speaker 2 (37:07):
side at all.
I try not to.
I try not to simply becauseit's not really fair to say, but
I lived on the west side forseveral years and I just have
such a negative connotation withbeing over there that I don't
want to go.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
It's not like they're
not getting the grapes from the
side anyways.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Exactly, and I have a
lot of those wineries through
distribution available to me.
That doesn't mean I don't wantto visit them in person and like
experience the space, see thespace.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
But I'm not
necessarily as compelled to
visit the west side as I am okay, and so when you go to say,
well, when you're here, yeah, are you going to different
wineries that you've never beento, or are you kind of
revisiting a couple as well?
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yeah, that's a good
question.
So I'm really trying to findthat balance, because I have
like tried and true favoritesthat I really want to visit when
I go to certain places Totally.
For instance, I'll never notvisit Smokey Rose and Walla
Walla or Tyrannus and Prosser orwhatever right, but the goal is
to expand my own repertoire andpalette.
(38:16):
So I have to be visiting newplaces in order to continue to
learn and not just stock thesame things over and over,
because I don't want people towalk into the shop and be like
I've seen this before, yeah, whywould I keep coming back if
it's going to be the same stuff?
So, um, this trip, specificallylike we're doing a few restocks
, like we're restocking theKarma cans, the French kiss cans
(38:37):
, because those are a crowdfavorite at the shop and so
we're definitely getting those.
We're picking up club wines andthen we are visiting new
wineries.
So we already had a tasting atLaGoria.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Did I say it right,
lagoria LaGoria?
Speaker 3 (38:57):
Yeah, already had a
tasting at lagoria yeah, did I
say it right lagria, lagria, yeah, yeah, oh, I added an extra
accent lagoria, lagria.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Yes, and farms yes,
yeah, they were lovely, great
experience.
They're really nice yeah yeahand um, we're gonna hit navar
cou.
Okay, I don't know that we'llhave time for Tildeo, and that's
okay if we don't.
Yeah, so this trip inparticular isn't, as planned to
(39:23):
the minute, like micromanaged asI typically plan.
Yeah, we took up most of yourtime.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
No, don't be sorry,
because we have all day tomorrow
, cool.
We have all day tomorrow, cool.
We have all day tomorrow, cool.
So I just didn't like over planthis one, like I typically
would.
Like we were down to the minutelast weekend.
I'll be down to the minute nextweekend, yeah, yeah so.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Fun.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
That's great.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
Lots of long winded
answers from me.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
Yeah, no I love that.
No, you're great, no, that'swhat we love yeah, we like to
listen to, to what you guys havegoing on you know, any guests
that we have on, so thanks forcoming on.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Yeah, thank you for
having me, we appreciate it
Speaker 2 (40:06):
it was so fun.
Yes, I'm so glad you reachedout.
When you did.
I was like me.
You want me.
Yes of out when you did.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
I was like me you
want me?
Speaker 2 (40:14):
yes, I was like.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
I'm so honored but
it's a great way to promote
yourself and your business.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
I mean, that's the
whole reason.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
We're here to support
this whole industry, no matter
what position or what you'redoing.
That is what we're doing.
Yeah, like we want to hear ifyou're just a tasting room
associate or you opened a wineshop or you work at a restaurant
Like we like hearing all ofthat, because that all brings
(40:41):
the wine industry together.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
It does, and what I
have to say about that is that
I've felt no competition orjudgment at all since being in
the industry.
I've felt nothing but supportand honestly, that's a little
surprising.
You know, yeah, just by humannature and societally that's not
necessarily what I expected,but it's truly what I wine
industry is very that peoplelike helping each other in the
(41:06):
wine industry which is I think,a big reason on why I love it so
much as well.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, I
say this all the time but, like
you, either have a mindset ofscarcity or mindset of abundance
.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
And, depending on
that, you're going to support
people or you're going to bejealous and talk shit about
people.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Right, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:26):
That's all.
That's all it is.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
And there's enough to
go around, like there's enough
to go around.
There's no such thing asscarcity.
There's enough to go around.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
Exactly.
We're all here to do the samething Just live life and make
the best of it.
Yep.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
Thanks for coming on.
Thanks, guys, yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
Cheers, cheers.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
Cheers Go to the
Tipsy Vine.
Join the wine club, you won'tregret it.
Love you guys.
