Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, hello.
Well, today's episode is goingto be a little bit different.
I'm talking aboutentrepreneurism, what things
work really well and what thingsdon't, and it has nothing to do
with the gym itself, but justlike atmosphere and environment.
So if you want stuff specificto the gym, nothing new other
than the bank is starting tocall like every three days, had
(00:21):
some rework done for theattorney, and nothing new on
that front.
So if you want to hear aboutthe business itself, move on to
the next episode.
But right now I'm in a worktrip in san francisco and it's
for the day job and I'm tryingto observe why the heck is san
francisco such a hot mess, butalso doing really well when it
(00:42):
comes to the tech scene, thestartup, the environment of
entrepreneurial endeavors.
And here's some takeaways.
There's no special order orlist, but just things I'm
acknowledging and want to takenote of.
So, first and foremost, there'sa heart of optimism.
Right now, like things arecrazy, there's an area called
Mission District.
(01:02):
It's basically where all thehomeless folks who are stuck on
drugs are hanging out, and Ialways ask my Uber driver like
hey, what's this area?
You know what's going on withthese people.
It's always the same drugs,homelessness.
There's just something going onand yet, like, somehow, some
way, like the driver's like, yeah, like this is still like
the best city in the world, barnone.
I'm like how in the world doyou see what's going on?
(01:24):
Like nope, this is the place tobe.
So there's this, first andforemost there is optimism,
there is hope for a better, andthat it's grabbable, that it's
not unrealistic.
Second is good weather and goodenvironment.
Right now, it's end of octoberthe weather is like 60 to 70
every day.
There's tons of sunshine, hardly a few clouds in the sky.
(01:44):
People are outside, people arewalking.
There's a desire to be outside, get fresh air and, granted, a
lot of the air smells like poopor marijuana or something nasty,
but yet there's people outsidegetting fresh air, being out in
nature and getting that naturalenvironment.
So that's the second one.
Third one is people are walkingeverywhere.
People either take the trolleyor an, but most of the time
(02:07):
they're just walking.
They're getting generalphysical exercise, either to
work down the hill or to work upthe hill, or both, but most
people are physically active.
That is going to only bebeneficial and not harmful to
your life outlook.
Fourth, people are competitive.
They see they need to do welland they need to be above
(02:29):
average.
And when everyone is looking tobe above average, you
over-deliver for what you'repaid and usually you end up
getting paid and then youover-deliver so you can preserve
that.
Granted, there are folks thatare going to be stuck, whether
it be an Uber driver, workingfast food or something, but
there's this desire to be aboveaverage and they work to find
the skills to get there andthey're not assuming it's going
(02:50):
to be given to them.
So that's another one, thatdesire for for bigger, greater
and hitting something.
Fifth, there's this.
There's this self-care.
So people are I hate to use theterm investing in their fashion
, but people are investing inthemselves.
There's a little more attentionto their nails, their skin
regimen, their, their fashion, their attire, how they're
(03:12):
perceived and received by theworld.
And, granted, that can be avery like that could be such a
negative like.
Oh, they're so surface level.
They have no depth, they onlycare about looks and appearance.
Maybe, maybe not, I know.
Back in the Twin Cities there'sdefinitely a vibe of of, hey, I
can wear my hoodie and mypajamas and I'll get by, and
(03:34):
it's even more so in, like, therust belt area.
But yet here there's aconscious effort to be
fashionable, presentable andcaring for oneself, and that's
noticeable.
We'll do a final one here.
People are very intentionalabout their diet.
When folks are eating fast foodor junk, they always talk about
like what their rebound plan is.
But in general people are veryfood conscious, drink conscious,
(03:58):
and whether they're doing drugsor they're just eating clean
and healthy, they areacknowledging what they're
putting into their bodies Veryintentional, not accidental.
And so, all that to say, frommy speed assessment, I've been
in California for like two days.
That's my quick assessment.
Overall, general optimism, adesire to be above average
(04:20):
conscious of what they put intotheir body, conscious about
their physical activity andbeing outside and getting fresh
air, whether it's gnarly freshair or it's clean, organic fresh
air.
Those are things I want to takeaway and bring back.
You can do all of those thingsin Minnesota, florida, costa
Rica, uh, california.
But if you can be in anenvironment that's more business
(04:42):
friendly, we'll just pick.
We'll just pick Florida orTexas If you can be in that
geography.
But bring those strengths, dude.
You're unstoppable and you canget people around you elevated
and up to the level you want tobe.
So that's my quick takeaway ofthe team's running up for dinner
and I'm going to jump insideand Uber off for an evening of
(05:02):
purpose and camaraderie andmaking sure that we're the best
team that we can be.
That's where we're at, that'swhere we're going.
Let's rock and roll.
