Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, hello.
Well, here we go on Wednesday.
So, um, last night got the goahead from the attorney.
Uh, he said we've got the greenlight and he's filing the
bankruptcy papers and it's done.
So I asked him, like, well, what do I do about vendors and,
uh, corporate and staff andmembers like managers?

(00:24):
He said, well, well, like, dodo right by as far it's, to as
many as you can, as far as youcan, but yet at this point, like
you don't have any obligationto ever anyone, so you're free
and clear.
Um, what happens from now?
Like in a couple weeks we'llhave hearings and the courts
will figure out, like what youknow, do they approve the case?

(00:45):
Does it pass through?
But we're leaps and boundsahead of anyone else.
And if they were to try to likedo something to us and make our
life painful, but, like we're,we don't have any money right
now, personally orprofessionally, so people can
sue us or threaten us and putyour left hand into your left
pocket and however much cash youhave in that pocket is probably

(01:08):
more than what we've got now.
So best of luck trying to dothat.
Um, I talked with a mentor andhe said, like, well, how do we
do this, like the bank.
In like two days the bank issending us like certified mail,
and one of my staff is openingup certified mail sent to us.
I don't know why they'reillegally doing that, but the

(01:30):
bank is now sending certifiedmail saying if we don't remedy
our business loan by like threedays from now, then they have
the right to start seizingassets and whatnot.
So we have like three days todo something, in which we won't
do Um, but I'm sure the staffare figuring out that things are
closing up soon.
All that to say, though, uh,we're filed, we're we're clean

(01:54):
on that front.
We'll have hearings in a fewweeks, I suppose.
Um, but yeah, the mentor saidlike don't allow for a toxic
environment unless I want to belike berated, slandered people
drag me through the mud, maybeeven have like a news story
written about me.
The recommendation they haveheard other people who've shut

(02:15):
down a business sometimes well, sometimes poorly is after the
last class on saturday, do likea mass email to all the members
saying thank you, today was ourlast class.
Thank you for your patronage.
We wish you the best.
Just something that does notallow for a lead up of toxicity.
Take down the Facebook group, where people will just vent and

(02:38):
throw our name into the trashpile.
Delete the company businessFacebook page, where people can
start posting just trash andgarbage about each other or
about the business or aboutstaff or vendors, where people
are just going to spew hate.
The election is in like three orlike six days, so people are
already emotionally on edge andcompanies are doing weird stuff

(03:02):
with like employment numbers andstats.
Oh, and companies are doingweird stuff with like employment
numbers and stats, and so,anyhow, all that to say like
don't allow for a toxicenvironment to blow up and
explode and to create just painfor people.
So they recommended close thebusiness page.
Uh, delete the members onlypage.
Uh, put my Facebook on snooze.
Uh, I'm sure my number is goingto get broadcasted out.

(03:26):
So don't take calls from randomnumbers, don't take emails from
random numbers.
Just put myself on unfindablefor the next three months, and
that's probably a good idea.
Actually, I've been gettinglike two calls a day from the
bank.
I'll probably just give myheads up what our plan is.
We're out of town this week.
We're hanging out with family,so I'll probably have someone go

(03:50):
in and put up a sign upWednesday afternoon, um, or
sorry, saturday afternoon, um,what else?
What else?
So, now that the emailbasically be unreachable,
because I don't need people tothrow toxic attitudes or
behaviors at me.
That's not beneficial foranyone, um, but yeah, we're

(04:12):
filed, we're good to go, sobuckle up.
The next little while is goingto be interesting, um, and for
what it's worth, um, we'reclosing the business.
This is a personal bankruptcy,so anyone can come at us for
what they want and they will getprobably get more money digging
under the sofa than you willfrom us, because we've got

(04:33):
nothing.
So we're going to have a goodattitude about it.
We're going to win the day, going to go work the day job and
spend time with family, because, heck, even five years from now
, the members won't know me.
The because, heck, even fiveyears from now, the members
won't know me, the staff won'tknow me, the bank won't know me.
My credit score will recover,my family is going to know me,
my family is going to care aboutme, and so I'm going to invest
my time and my energy wherethere is a return.

(04:55):
So that's where we're at,that's where we're going.
It's rock and roll.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
