Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right.
Well, we're having a check-inand looking at the recording
history, it's been about twomonths, almost the day actually.
Wait, is it really?
Yeah, like two months and acouple of days.
Honestly, there just hasn'tbeen anything new in life to
really speak of.
It was funny because today, like10 minutes ago literally, I was
thinking, huh, I shouldprobably record something for
(00:23):
something's sake, and then allof a sudden I get a funny email.
So two items today One is goingto be attorney general stuff,
another one is tax returns.
So I got an email from thestudio.
They forwarded it from theattorney general.
Long story short, a membersubmitted a complaint I have to
reread it but something alongthe lines of I shut down the
studio without giving a refundbeforehand and so she deserves a
(00:47):
refund, which that's fineCorporate and I and the new
franchisee we figured that outlike three months ago.
So I'll just respond back withthe same info and names and
CCing and everything that I didon the first one.
Just more entertaining thananything, uh, was my reaction.
So the first time I got theemail where they were like I
(01:09):
don't know, we'll say five toten members I can't remember the
number, um, but they were likeoh, class action, close the
studio.
He was strategically planningbankruptcy to screw over members
and, uh, hurt people orsomething to that.
That's what I remember it beinglike.
And yeah, no one intentionallydeclares bankruptcy to take
(01:30):
advantage of consumers.
That never works out from whatI have seen and what I can
gather.
But anyhow, it looks like it'sjust one member this time.
So there's that.
I'll forward a copy to mybankruptcy attorney and a
corporate.
That way they know that there'ssomeone complaining to the
attorney general about somethingthat happened four months ago
(01:51):
and they know what's all goingon.
And yeah, I've been working withmy accountant and my CPA, my or
I guess sorry, I want to breakthat out my bookkeeper and my
tax filing person.
So my bookkeeper been payingher monthly for a year to
confirm all the transactions, close out all the books, that
(02:13):
sort of thing, and so I paid herone last year to close out the
books and make sure everythingon the accounting was taken care
of, which is great.
And then, um, after that shethen hands it off to my CPA
person who then files the taxdocuments.
Uh, so that person's handlingthe personal and the business
returns to make sure like wedidn't do anything wrong or
(02:36):
incorrectly.
So she's working with all theinfo that we gave her and
obviously we give her only thetruth so that she can file that
accordingly.
Uh, it's middle March or end ofMarch now.
Still haven't filed yet.
But basically what happens?
We file business taxes, personal taxes, with the federal
and state and then, sincethere's losses and all that
(02:57):
stuff, there's going to berefunds.
And so what's going to happenis I directed the filing gal to
have all the refunds sent to thebankruptcy trustee.
So if we're going to do likethrough TurboTax or something
they normally say, hey, we canwire the money today for a $20
fee.
We're not doing that, we'rejust going to have a check
(03:18):
mailed to the trustee.
Um, if worst case comes tohappen and they can't do that,
then they'll.
I don't know, I guess we'llhave to have it sent to us and
then we'll tell our trustee, like what the total was, and
then we write a check for whatthey owe.
But long story short, thetrustee gets the first ebbs on
it.
So that's where that is.
(03:38):
Um, what else?
Oh yeah, there's a um.
One of the a couple of thecreditors are late to the party.
One creditor has texted me afew times saying like hey, hope
you're doing okay, can we catchup and have a discussion?
And I got it the first time andjust ignored him.
And then the creditor messagedme again.
He's like hey, nathan wanted togive you some space, can we
(04:01):
have a coffee and have adiscussion about things?
And it was very like cryptic.
So I just ended up blocking hisnumber because it's illegal for
a creditor to reach out andtalk to a.
I guess what am I?
I'm a debtor, yeah, um, soanyhow, that was kind of weird
blocked him for his own sake.
If he reaches out again, um,and like, wants to escalate
(04:24):
tension, I'll just remind themthat you can't be doing that,
and so I have no idea if you'vebeen reaching out to me a third
time or beyond.
So I haven't taken any actionyet.
Um, just gonna hope that thatcreditor goes away for their own
benefit.
A couple other creditors havereached out and said like hey,
um, llc owner, you still owemoney for this thing or that
(04:47):
thing.
And they got mail alreadysaying that we declared
bankruptcy and so now thoseaccounts are in collections.
Collectors are now saying hey,we need to reach out, and my
response is always like sorry,my attorney name is this
Discharge number is that Allcommunications should be through
writing certified mail andplease send to my attorney.
Thank you, have a nice day andthat's the end of it.
(05:09):
So, just more annoying, um, I'mprobably getting reminded of
the bankruptcy, maybe like oncea week at this point.
Um, but it's like a five minutething.
The final takeaway, which iskind of encouraging for the
entrepreneur, that it's gettingoff the ground uh, for that
first, um, for that first timewhere there was the attorney
general complaint, all themembers saying this was a
(05:31):
planned thing, this was colluded, this was an attempt to swindle
consumers.
It was like five pages ofscreenshots of the email of the
closure and all that.
That first one really rattledme.
Your stomach clenches up, youfeel really stressed, you can't
like sleep that well and itreally rattles like my.
I'm a bad person, you know, Ihurt the world, I'm a
(05:56):
destruction to humanity.
You get all these thoughts andthen, like, you send your
response and then nothinghappens, like it's.
It's like a toothless wolf,basically.
And this time around, when I seethe one person complaining, it
doesn't shock me, doesn't rattleme, just more like, oh, I
forgot about that businessclosing.
It's not scary, like it's justa thing and just more of a
(06:18):
hassle, kind of like if I don'tknow something annoying happened
.
So I wanted to give confidencethat things are not always scary
.
You kind of build that thickskin and that's the end of that.
Lots of updates, just finishingup some creditor stuff, tax
filings, and then one person isfive months late to the Attorney
(06:39):
General party.
Nothing new beyond that.
That's where we're at, that'swhere we're going.
Let's rock and roll.
