On January 8th the devastating Palisades Fire turned my life upside down, I was left with nothing but ashes—and had to start over. For the third time. Join me as I share how I am working on turning these losses into a new beginning and am finding strength in community and purpose.
The Palisades fire didn’t just destroy my home—it forced me to confront the very foundations of my life. When the flames consumed everything I had worked so hard to build, and everything I wanted to pass on, I was left with nothing but questions: Where do I go from here? How do I start over when all that I created is gone? On the 7th my office burned including the podcast studio and on the 8th my home burned to the ground.
In this episode, I open up about the raw, unfiltered emotions I am experiencing in the aftermath of this tragedy and my daily struggle to see it as a path of self-discovery and renewal.
Losing everything is more than a loss of material possessions; your entire identity is gone overnight. I share about my pain, my emotions and how desperately I am looking at this to become a catalyst for transformation. As if I needed to learn more profound lessons about resilience. But what I am learning is the power of community, and how even in the darkest times, there are opportunities to rebuild with the help of that community and the outpouring of love and support we have received. I share these lessons so that you can share them with anyone navigating unexpected challenges or rebuilding after tragedies, natural disasters or while going through a very difficult time.
One of the most touching parts of this journey has been the outpouring of love and support I received from my community. From thoughtful gifts to heartfelt messages, each gesture reminded me of the impact we must have on the lives of others. I always say that the perception others have of you reflects the real you.
We must have done something right.
In this episode, I reflect on the importance of building relationships and how they sustain us during times of upheaval. I also discuss the steps I’m taking to rebuild—not just my life but a community that feels more aligned than ever before.
Your thoughts and stories mean so much to me. If you’ve ever faced loss or started over, I’d love to hear your experiences. Share your feedback in the comments. Let’s build a community of resilience and support, because together, we can turn even life’s greatest losses into opportunities for growth and renewal.
