Pete Mohr (00:03):
Are you ready to move from operator to owner? Well,
decisions in your organizationshould be made at the lowest
possible level of your business.
Every day, there is a frameworkthat can help and it's called
the five P's. Understanding yourpromise, aligning your product
process and people to it willgenerate the most amount of

(00:24):
profit. And that's when thefreedom comes. Freedom from the
day to day management andfreedom to start doing the
things that you want, anddeserve to do, inside and
outside of your business. No oneever said it was easy, but it's
time to start the process on thebusiness owner breakthrough. If

(00:45):
you'd like to chat with me abouthelping you breakthrough in your
business, simply go to speak topete.com that speak to pete.com,
to book an appointment and tosee if we're a right fit. When
faced with challenges in yourbusiness. Do you find yourself
more likely to blame andcomplain? Or do you strive to

(01:06):
align and assign? Well, today,it's about exploring these two
different worlds that leaderscan inhabit. And I bet by the
end of our conversation, you'llsee just how transformational
the shift from the former to thelatter can truly be. Because
true leadership is aboutownership. And it's about
embodying responsibility. Andwhen things go right, it's easy

(01:29):
to stand at the helm. But thetrue character, when you face
challenges by aligning yourteam's vision, and assigning the
tasks with clarity, you reallyanchor your ship, ensuring that
everyone knows the direction thedestination, right? That's the
goal as the leader communicatethe destination, and let your
team take some of theresponsibility around this. And

(01:53):
every time we point a finger orvent our frustrations without
seeking solutions. We're reallyjust wasting valuable time,
we're wasting valuable energyand the negative culture just
doesn't affect today or thisweek, it sets a precedent and
teams become defensive. Theybecome hesitant and they
innovate for fear of blame. Andinstead of forward momentum, you

(02:14):
get stagnation. Imagine abusiness where every team member
knows their role where they fitinto the grand scheme of things
and why their contributionmatters. This clarity isn't
about tasks, it's all aboutpurpose. It instills the sense
of belonging and direction inevery individual in the
organization. Because a welloiled machine functions

(02:37):
seamlessly because every partknows its purpose, right?
Similarly, in a business wherethe objectives are aligned and
the tasks are assignedappropriately. Efficiency isn't
just improved, it's transformed.
deadlines are met with easeprojects flow smoothly and the
quality of work just simplyskyrockets. A harmonious

(02:59):
workplace is built on trust andtrust. Well, it's cultivated
when leaders show faith in theirteam's abilities, this kind of
environment really celebrateshared victories and
collectively navigateschallenges fostering not just
accountability. But camaraderie.
Interestingly, about two monthsago, when one of my clients said
that she didn't trust your teammembers enough to release
authority on a given task, well,I asked her if it was truly the

(03:21):
person that she didn't trust? Orwas it the process that was in
place that she didn't trust inorder to deliver the desired
result by aligning assigning theprocess to the appropriate team
member? Right? It's aninteresting thought. Because if
you truly don't trust thatemployee, should they be working
for you at all. If it's theprocess that you don't trust,

(03:42):
then you need to own that as theleader, and you've got some work
to do clean it up, make sureit's good alignment and assign
it to someone who can own itdown the road. Because your job
after that truly is to coachthem to success, not simply do
it for them, you'll never befree. If you don't align and
assign it right. Changing thiskind of culture isn't a switch

(04:03):
to be flipped overnight. It'sgradual, and it's just a
journey. But it begins with asingle step, recognizing the
need for change. And by modelingthese behaviors we wish to see
praising the proactive problemsolving and encouraging open
dialogue. We lay the foundationsfor a transformative shift.
You've heard me talk a littlebit about the CPA in the past,

(04:24):
I'm sure No, it's not yourCertified Professional
Accountancy. Although I dobelieve in knowing your numbers
of course, but the CPA standsfor understanding and having a
thorough command ofcommunication, process
management and accountability.
Those are the primary threethings that you need to do as a

(04:46):
leader of your business, focuson communication, focus on
process management and focus onaccountability. It's your only
way to have more freedom as aleader with clarity in the roles
and a supportive environmentteams don't just do the tasks
that Think they innovate, theypropose novel solutions. They
become invested stakeholders inthe business's success. To truly

(05:08):
master the art of aligning andassigning begin with a thorough
goal setting workshops with yourteam, foster the environments
where they can voice theirinsights regularly review and
adjust the roles to ensure anoptimal fit. And remember, it's
not just enough to assign thetasks, we must also equip our
teams with the right tools andthe right support the right

(05:29):
coaching from you, their leader, often in your head, you're
saying cheese, why don't theyjust get it done? Well, that's
more of a blame and complainattitude, right? In reality,
your team probably just doesn'tfeel clarity around what they
need to do, or they haven't beengiven the final authority to do
it without your authorization.
If they keep coming to you forauthorization every time, it's

(05:50):
because they don't feel asthough they have the power to
make that decision themselvesyet, think about it. If a client
came into shoe topia, or shoestores and wanted to simply
exchange their size eightfootwear for size eight and a
half, they wouldn't want to haveto go through the salesperson,
then the assistant manager, thenthe store manager, then me as

(06:10):
the owner, decisions need to bemade at the lowest possible
level of the organization. Theclient just wants the size
changed. And if you're askingyourself that question, why
don't they just get it done forsomething like that within your
business? Well, you know, you'vegot some work to do around
aligning and assigning the task, get it down to the lowest

(06:31):
possible level of theorganization so that it can be
aligned and assigned to becustomer facing at that level.
beyond the immediate efficiencycanes. This approach really
promises enduring rewards, employee turnover rates plummet,
your team wants to be empoweredand accountable. They want to
feel as though what they aredoing is making a difference.

(06:53):
clients and customers notice adifference to leading to the
increase loyalty and referrals.
That business doesn't just grow,it flourishes and sets new
benchmarks when your team ishelping to make the decisions
and becomes empowered to be atrue part of the business and

(07:13):
steering and guiding it ahead.
As we wrap up, reflect on yourleadership journey. It's the
divide between the blame andcomplain and the Align and
assign because it's pretty fast.
One path leads to endlesscircles of frustration, while
the other path. Well, it leadsto the way for unparalleled
success. You've worked hard andyou deserve more freedom from

(07:38):
these frustrations in yourbusiness. And I have the
frameworks that can help you getthere. Simply book a chat with
me at speak to pete.com thatspeak to pete.com. And if you're
a regular listener, I'd reallyappreciate if you would rate and
review the podcast you know itreally helps the rankings and
the ratings of the show andbetter yet, tell your friends
about it if you know of anyonein your network that might be

(08:01):
interested in breaking throughas a business owner. Now go and
make it a great day
