d ACT has issued a safety alert over a colored
sand product used for arts and crafts which has been
found to contain a type of asbestos. Lab testing has
confirmed the contamination within Kadink decorative sand, available to buy
in the ACT. Anyone with the product in their home

is urged to avoid contact, with info on how to
dispose of it safely available on the Work Safe Act website.
It comes as a bunch of children's sand products are
recalled nationally for possible asbestos contamination. Delays are expected on
one of our busiest roads over the next couple of years,
with major renewal works for Commonwealth Avenue Bridge kicking off today.

David Wright from the National Capital Authority says the works
will be completed in stages, with lane closures and traffic
adjustments in place.

Empre works commenced in the next week or so and
will be finished before the end of the year, at
which point will kick off the first stage of the
works on the arm Bridge, followed by works on the
staff Darn Bridge.
