Speaker 1 (00:00):
The CEO you should know. Brought to you by Roby
Foster Miller Eric Insurance. This week's CEO Garrett Hall, owner
and CEO of Jones Rental. Garrett, Good morning, great to
see you, Thanks for coming in today.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Good morning, appreciate you having me in.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Absolutely I've heard that name for a long time in
the community. Jones Rental. First of all, let's begin by
telling people what do you guys do it Jones Rental.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
So we rent tools and equipment. We do anything from
small handheld power tools up to lifts and dozers.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
All right, So if somebody needs some equipment, you guys
are the people they call, right, Oh.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, yeah, we're definitely your local source.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Now, where are you guys located at the area?
Speaker 2 (00:45):
So we're in Ashland. We're on Cleveland Avenue right at
the two fifty bypass. Easy to find for Mansfield or
even Worcester anywhere.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
All right, So tell us a little bit about the company.
How long have you guys been in operation. I know
I've heard the name for many, many years.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, actually it's been twenty nine years in business. We're
actually celebrating our twenty fifth anniversary in Ashland this year.
And then actually another ten years that since I've owned
the company.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Terrific, a longtime business here in north central Ohio. You're
hearing the voice this morning of Garrett Hall, who's the
owner and CEO of Jones Rental. All right, so you
mentioned located in Ashland, But how about areas you serve?
You know, you know, customers come from how far here?
Speaker 2 (01:28):
We have them from all over? Actually, we definitely hit
all of Ashland County and then most of the surrounding
counties also, and then we also deliver on top of that,
so if you can't quite get to us, then we
can make sure we can get what you need to you.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
That was my next question. So if somebody needs some
kind of equipment, we'll give some more examples about the
equipment a moment. They can either stop by and see
you guys in Ashland, or you can deliver it to them.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
What a great service.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Huh Yeah, Yeah. Lots of people ask that question, and
it's something we've always done and it's definitely a big help,
especially if you're in a pension need something right away.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
All right, so if you would share with us, I
know you did a little bit early, you know, just
you know how far does it range in terms of
tools equipment that you guys offer.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
To people, Well, just some examples, like we have a
lot of Milwaukee cordless power tools, so whether you have
like specific needs for something individual or something you use
a lot. We also do stuff on tables and chairs
for parties and stuff like that. We do carpet cleaners,
that kind of stuff. But then also we have a
(02:31):
fleet of like skid loaders and excavators and a lot
of dirt moving equipment also.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
So in terms of like power tools as well.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Correct, Yeah, yep, pretty much any gas power to you
to use on your lawn or on a job site,
we carry that kind of stuff. So generators, saws, power trials,
concrete working equipment, compactors, Yeah, huge variety.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, and you think about it, Garrett, somebody needs something,
you know, and they're able to that. They don't have
to go to the store that you know look for
what do I know haul often and are they going
to need it? They just reach out to you guys,
and you guys provide it.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yep. All the time we get customers saying that like
I could have bought this, but what am I going
to do with it? After that? One job. So storage
is a big thing for a lot of things. So
you don't have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars
on a piece of equipment. Instead, you spend a small
fraction of it and use it when you need it
and don't worry about the maintenance of the storage.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Terrific conversation this morning and learning about a great local company.
We're hearing from Garrett Hall, who is the owner and
CEO of Jones Rental based in Ashland, but provide around
the area equipment and tools. In terms of pricing, I
would assume depends on what you're running then right.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Oh yeah, yeah, we got stuff down to twenty five
bucks and it goes up from there. So yeah, it
just really depends on what you need and how we
can fill that niche.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Now, how does it work in terms of somebody need
something you mentioned, they can pick it up in Ashland
or you guys can deliver. Can they get it the
same day? That's kind of the timeline on those kind
of things.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
So we have customers that come in and need have
an immediate need, and we also have people to schedule
out maybe a month or two in advance, so we
can do reservations. We can do deliveries, and a lot
of times we kind of pride ourselves in the fact
that we can make most deliveries in an hour or less.
So we get calls from contractors there and a piece
of equipment just went down something like that, and they
(04:24):
got guys standing around waiting, and we can get our
guys on it right away and get out there and
get them back rolling and get their job finished like
they planned on.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Yeah Jones Rundals to the rescue that right, Yeah, Yeah,
they're on the job site and they need it, and
you guys are delivering fantastic now in terms and I'm
glad you bring it up in terms of maybe, like
you know, a work site for a contractor, but if
somebody at their own personal household needs something, right, so
it's either or anybody that needs equipment.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Oh yeah, Yeah. We make friends with a lot of
new homeowners. Hey we just bought a house in the area.
We get these projects planned and yeah, we see people
for or not just the summer, but for years, keep
coming back and getting advice on some of the projects
even and just building on the knowledge and their abilities
and what they can do too.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
And hearing from you and chatting with you. Sounds like
things are going well for you guys then.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Yeah, yeah, I mean we have a great group of guys.
We're gonna do well because me and the guys really
take pride in like the community service part of it.
That way, we can actually get involved in a lot
of people's projects and that really just pulls everything together.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Yeah, awesome. Now, before we go any further, you mentioned,
you know, celebrating a big anniversary. Remind people again how
long you've owned Jones Rental?
Speaker 2 (05:39):
So this was ten years that I've owned the company. Now,
I actually worked for the company for fourteen years before that,
and then I got Mike that works with us also,
he's twenty three years in. Also, we got a little
bit of an experience under our belt.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
How many staff members in total do you guys have
right now?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
We have three full time guys in the shop just
to take care of equipment and serve the customers and
make deliveries and all that kind of stuff. Plus then
we got a couple part time guys that help out too.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Are you looking for people right now? Hiring wise?
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Are you guys good right now? We're good. I got
a great crew, but yeah, we're always looking for that
right person to add in too.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Now, if somebody wants more information from Jones Rental, you're
hearing this morning from the owner and CEO. That is
Garrett Hall, this week's CEO. You should know how did
they go about scheduling that rental? What you said. They
could stop in the office, they can go to the website,
they could call, they can even message through social media.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
I would assume, yeah, I get a lot of messages
that way too. The best bed is to call the shop.
We're open seven thirty to five thirty Monday through Friday,
and we're even open till twelve thirty on Saturday. If
you give us a call, we can get you on
the books, get everything scheduled in. Like I said, it's
whether you need it in an hour or you may
need it two months from now.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Remind people where you guys are located at Nashville.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Okay, we're in Ashen We're on Cleveland Avenue. We're right
off the two fifty bypass.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
They can find you on Facebook, right yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Well yep, Facebook, and then on our website at Jones
rentallink dot com.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
And how about that phone number for us, oh.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Four one nine two zero seven eight eight zero zero.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
All right, terrific hearing this morning. We'll keep him for
a few more minutes. The voice of Garrett Hall this
week's CEO. You should know again. He's the owner and
CEO of Jones Rental and Ashland but providing equipment tool
rental all across the area. Let's step away from work
and find out a bit more about you personally. Let's
go back to the very beginning and tell us where
(07:32):
was Garrett Hall born?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Well, I was born in Ashland, raised in the Loneville
Perrysville area. Graduated from Lamville High School in two thousand
and two.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Redbird.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Then, oh yeah, yep, riftic. So I actually started working
for Jones when I was a junior in high school.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Got that so and now you own it?
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Yeah, yeah, no, that's a Basically I worked as running
a grease gun in a garden hose, cleaning up equipment
and doing lube work and that kind of stuff. So
and then just kept working at it. And I worked
actually at the company part time through college and stuff
like that, and came back and was the shop manager
and then then the branch manager.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
So tellspot college.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
I went to college at un oh out in Lima,
did automotive and high performance, got my associates while I
was there, worked my way through college. The whole time
I worked at Jones and I also worked at Bobcat.
I worked full time there while I was in Linema
during the week worked for Jones on the weekends, so
I had a full schedule.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Sounds it sounds jam pack now growing up, you know,
what were your aspirations you mentioned, you know, in high
school you started working for Jones, You went off to
college when you were growing up with you know, what
did you want to get into.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
I've always been a car guy, so like trucks and
hot rides, all that kind of stuff. So mechanicking was
always kind of my thing. So when I had the
opportunity to start at Jones, that was a great way
to build on those skills and from there it's still
my hobby. So I went to school for it. And
maybe someday we'll full circle and we'll do that that
(09:06):
work some way. That way, maybe that'd be my retirement.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Gig Hey, go, great conversation this morning. The voice you
hear is Garrett Hall. He is the owner and CEO
of Jones Rental All right before I let you go.
We found out born in Ashland when I went to
Laudonville Perrysville. I don't know if you're married kids. Tell
us a bit more about Garrett Hall and the family.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
So I have two girls, sixteen and fourteen. They're great girls.
I love him with death. Got a fiance, Ashley. We're
super happy and we're really working well together, all of us.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
So terrific am mention. And you know, kids in school,
owning a business, all of that, I'm sure busy, busy scheduling, right,
Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
We're We're always on the run. We do car shows
and stuff on the weekend, but everybody's super involved. It's
really truly a blessing. The I said. We celebrated our
ten year anniversary own in the company, so I turned
forty the same time, and you know a lot of
people like hate that number and like really like I've
just I've been so happy with it. So to be
(10:10):
in the position I'm at and the work we do
and our position in the community, just being able to
help out and serve everybody, it's it's been a great thing.
And like the support of family and friends in the
community is really the best part of Jones Rental for me.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
All right, I got a couple more questions before I
let you go. This morning, Garrett Hall the Voice again
joining us in studio. This week's CEO. You should know,
owner CEO of Jones Rental. What do you do when
you're not working? I know you mentioned a couple of kids,
you mentioned fiance, But when you have spare time, do
you have any hobbies? Oh?
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Yeah, so I have another shop and we play around
with a lot of old trucks. So love my old
Ford trucks, whether it's the small pickups or the bigger stuff.
But we spend a lot of time doing that. And
we do a lot of like vintage type car shows.
So we got one coming up up here. Even they'll
do like camping and stuff with them, a lot of
events over the weekend. Love racing and motorsports.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
All right, awesome, Now, before I let you go, want
to circle back to the company. And you know, I
hear from a lot of CEOs, a lot of owners,
a lot of people who run organizations, and they talk
about what makes their organization, what makes them stand out.
Want to give you a moment here, tell us about
Jones Rental and what makes you guys special.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
For us, our focus is just a community. We know
that we don't exist without the community, so we do
everything we can to help support the community back whether
it's Little Timmy's softball team or whatever it is. But
it's just it's good to help out. And for me,
that's been the biggest thing is like, that's my favorite
(11:47):
part of owning the company is that we can actually
participate in so many people's projects and just events going
on in town, whether it's fundraisers or whatever, and just
showing up and helping out, like that's that's the best
part of it for me. The guys understand it too.
They love to help out with people's projects, whether it's
(12:09):
a personal project or a community project or whatever. To
see some of the guys just the employees get involved
with our customers and really make friends with the customers
in the community. That's that's my favorite part of all
of it.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Great story, great company, Jones Rental and Garrett Hall, the
owner and CEO, is with us. Another thing you told
me and share with our listeners. You told me number
one thing for us customer satisfaction.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yep. We do everything we can we try and that's
the biggest feedback we get from customers is they tell
us like, hey, we can see your effort and not
everything goes perfect all the time, but really just we
try to be the best we can so and I'd
like to think that shows and what we do.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
All Right, Well, before I let you go, it's been
great learning about you guys. If somebody wants to rent
something from Jones Rental, you mentioned tools equipment, and again,
share with the listeners how they go about that.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Okay, the best bet is always just come on in
and actually we invite anybody to stop in and just
check out what we have. Whether you have a project
at hand or you're just thinking about something. Even if
you just stop in, the guys are happy to show
you around the yard, the office, show you the different stuff.
We encourage people to give us a phone call if
they got a project they're working on, because a lot
of times we may have kind of a magical tool
(13:27):
to make your life a lot easier. So if you
wonder if like hey, I got this this is not
going to be fun, give us a call. We may
have something to make your life a lot easier. So,
but like I said, just stop in, take a look,
talk to one of the guys or give us a
call at four one nine two zero seven eight eight
zero zero. We can walk you through some stuff, take reservations,
(13:49):
and maybe just even give you advice on a product.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
