(01:55):
powerful conversation.
Let's dive in.
Welcome, Dr.
Mary, so happy to have you heretoday.

Dr. Mary (02:03):
Oh, Rose, sincerely, the honor is all mine.
Thank you for having me.

Rose (02:07):
Wonderful, so let's just jump right in.
Share your journey on how youbecame a medical intuitive.
I've never had well, I've hadmedical intuitives.
Everyone's different andeveryone's journey towards
getting there is different, so Iwould love for you to share
your journey.

Dr. Mary (02:23):
Okay, well, I love answering this question, but
before I start into this, pleaseknow that my journey was
anything but linear.
Okay, I would like to think atthe beginning of my journey I
was in control and everythingwas going smoothly, and then
life happens and then you justgo completely full circle.
So my journey started when Igraduated from chiropractic

(02:47):
school at the age of 25.
So that was pretty young, and Icame just, you know, out of my
undergraduate degree into mydoctoral program.
And, to make a long story short, by the time that I graduated I
really was academically prettyfull in my head, but I didn't
have the social skills nor thebusiness skills in order to have

(03:09):
a prosperous business offhand.
So you don't get taught thosethings when you're in
chiropractic school or technicalschool.
So I had the school of hardknocks and the thing that I had
going for me, rose, was myresilience, my perseverance and
my desire to be validated by theexternal world.
So that drove me pretty hard.

(03:30):
I'm almost embarrassed to saythat my ego was just guiding the
way.
And to make a long story short,I practiced as a chiropractor
for 23 years, I believe, and inthat time I created a very
successful practice, whatappeared to be a successful

(03:51):
practice on the outside.
So I had a beautifulfreestanding building.
It was about 5,000 square feet.
I had multiple practitionerswithin that building.
I also had a satellite office,so I was overseeing multiple
doctors, big overhead, big staffand, to make a long story short
, I was miserable.

(04:11):
I was absolutely miserablebecause I lost my true north, my
true north of being in serviceto people.
So, as fate had it, at the sametime my husband was applying to
take over being a head ofschools internationally.
So he came to me and he waslike Mary, do you think that you

(04:33):
could leave it all?
And I said I really don't thinkI can.
That would be a big, big, bigstretch for me.
This is all I know.
But life was.
I was pretty unhappy, so I wasmotivated to change and so I.
Literally we sold everythingwithin a matter of three months.
So that means multiplepractices, property, a home, the
possessions, everything.
And we decided to move to HoChi Minh City, vietnam, and it

(04:58):
was a big move, big deal.
And I woke up on the other sideof the world, rose, and I didn't
know who I was.
I went through a huge identitycrisis, like I seriously, if I
didn't have my brick and mortarpractice, if people were not
referring to me as Dr Mary, whowas I?
And so I literally was askingthe big questions like what's my

(05:20):
purpose?
Why am I here?
What am I?
What did I sign up to do thislifetime around?
So I had to sit with thesethings, and so what ended up
happening is I got intomeditation.
Well, let me back up.
I went to go get my YTT in Bali, indonesia.
So when I sat with Vietnam forabout a month, I was really

(05:41):
uncomfortable with myself withineverything that was happening
internally, so I kind of likehad to run away from Ho Chi Minh
City in order to kind of gofind myself.
And that's what led me to Bali, indonesia.
And so when I was there youknow this is so divinely perfect
I was not.
I was a last minute sign up forthis, for this, for this

(06:02):
training, and so I was not withthe collective group.
My housing was outside of wherethe group was staying, and so I
had a sense of individualityand autonomy that was separate
from the group and I literallyhad time to think and to rest
for the first time in my life.

(06:23):
And it was during my YTT,interestingly enough that I
started to lean into moremeditation.
So I've always, for 30 years, have been a yoga practitioner
and I knew how to show up on mymat and I knew how to be mindful
with the asana and thepranayama and everything that
comes along with the yogapractice.
But I really didn't allowmyself to think deeply into the

(06:47):
meditative portion.
So I did my YTT, did what Ineeded to do, came back to Ho
Chi Minh City and once again Istill had time.
So I leaned further into mymeditation practice.
I just was really enthralledwith what was happening and I
was so intrigued I was like, okay, the intellectual brain, my

(07:10):
brain, got in the way and I waslike, time out, what's
happening neurologically withinmy brain when I meditate?
Like I knew the body, rose, youknow, you've got your trade and
knew the body incredibly wellfrom the neck on down.
Now I'm like, hey, hey, what'sthis beautiful organism that
sits inside the cranium?
What does his brain do?

(07:31):
And so that's what prompted meto go study under Dr Talbin
Shahar in upstate New York, inLenox, massachusetts, and that's
when I studied positivepsychology.
He was the guy that wasteaching all about the
neuroscience as to what happenswithin.
You know the headspace withinthe brain when you meditate.

(07:53):
And so I was fascinated, rightFascinated, with what he was
teaching, and that's what led meto get my degree in positive
psychology, so I could betterhelp facilitate.
To make a long story short, I'lljump forward about 10 years,
and what ended up happening isthat life came really fast.

(08:14):
I had the death of my mother, death of a sister, a couple of
other international moves, and Istill was like in this quandary
, like I've made some reallysolid contributions in this
world, but I really don't knowwhat my divine purpose is.
And so my husband looked at mehe's like you've always wanted
to better understand the humanenergetics.

(08:36):
And I said, yeah, but what doyou do with that?
What do you do with that?
Is that practical?
Is that something that'stangible?
And so it turns out that yes,it is, it is.
And so now that prompted me togo to the Academy of Intuition
Medicine in Sausalito,california.
So for the first time somebodysaid you know what?

(08:57):
Lean into your intuition theinformation that you've been
receiving clairsentiently,clairvoyantly, through direct
knowing all these years.
Let's pull it together and thenhold space collectively with
all of your skill strengths.
And so now I show up as amedical intuitive.

Rose (09:17):
That is an amazing story and you know, while you're
sharing this, I'm thinking she'salways been connected to
intuition.
You've always followed thatbecause it kind of guided you to
say yes to moving and leavingall your things.
And it wasn't easy and itreally pulled you out of I'm not
going to say comfort zone, because I think you already were
comfortable outside of yourcomfort zone, but maybe a little

(09:39):
bit more, and it definitelyshows your resilience.
That's an amazing story.
I love that.
Yes, and there's a lot withbeing a chiropractor the spine
is where all our chakra systemsare, and I know we're going to
talk about that actually, so canyou define?
Thank you for sharing thatstory, by the way.
I love that.

Dr. Mary (09:57):
You're very welcome.

Rose (09:59):
Can you define what you mean by the energy system?

Dr. Mary (10:02):
Sure.
Well, so, listeners, let's juststart with the premise.
This is my foundation, and Irealized that you know most of
the listeners.
You know, if you hear with Rose, you understand that they're
the physical body and youunderstand that we are all made
up of a subtle energetic system.
What I mean by that is thatwe're driven electromagnetically
, we have a sense of polarity,we have an ionic exchange with

(10:27):
the Earth's frequency, weemanate a life force, a personal
, vivifying signature in thisworld, so, and we are connected
into all that surrounds us in abeautiful, intricate way.
In a beautiful, intricate way.
And so that's the premise thatI'm coming from.

(10:47):
When I say energy, medicine orconnecting with the subtle
energetic systems is somethingthat is available to all of us,
not just some of us, not justthe minority or the 10
percenters, I'm saying everyone.
If we choose to access some ofthe most sustainable energy that
are available to us, we will besinking into a loving and

(11:10):
nurturing, supportive, caressing, deeply enhancing earth energy,
and we're going to have thattwo-way exchange of releasing
any and all discordant energyand receiving fresh nutrients.
At the same time, we're goingto be running the circuitry of
our life force energy, allowingit to enter into our physical
body as our spirit becomes fullyinhabited within his or her

(11:34):
human home, and then we canstart to develop some of that
kundalini vibratory energy thatruns within the trillions of the
cells that we have within ourbody, energy that runs within
the trillions of the cells thatwe have within our body.
These are all available to usso that we can saturate, fill up
our, if you want to say, auricfield or biofield, so that we

(11:56):
can show up in this world withmore of our essence.
And if we're more in ouressence, we can attract all that
is in alignment with what ourdivine purpose is.

Rose (12:08):
Yes, and when we talk about energetic systems you
talked about already youmentioned the auric field, so
you call it the biofield as well.
Right, can you talk about thechakra system?
And I know you talk a lot aboutthe endocrine glands as well.
Would you mind firstidentifying or explaining what

(12:30):
the endocrine glands are, howthey work with us, and then how
the chakras and working with thechakras are related and how
that system helps each other, orhow that works?

Dr. Mary (12:43):
It sure does.
I'd like to go back a few steps.
You alluded to something that Iwant to drive home, a point,
because I think that this iscrucial for everybody to
understand how energy entersinto our physical system, so
surrounding us.
I love these questions, by theway, so I'm going to get there

(13:03):
and I will answer your questions, and if I don't, you just let
me know.

Rose (13:06):
Of course.

Dr. Mary (13:07):
And so surrounding our physical body is an
electromagnetic field that I'vecalled the biofield or the auric
field, and so there's aboundary, that is, to our
container.
So what Rose was saying is thatour environment people, places

(13:27):
and things are outside of uswill put out an energy and, in
theory, should bump up againstour boundaries right, so that we
can have a defense systemaround the external or
environmental influences.
But what ends up happening isthat life happens right.

(13:50):
So we've been conditioned bypeople, places, things and items
that sometimes our boundariesare not as strong as what we
would like them to be.
There's rifts, there's holes,there's tears, there's
perforations within the auricfield, and so what that allows
is the external environment.
It allows an entry point forthe energy to come into the

(14:15):
surrounding biofield.
Over time, energy can violatewithin the various different
layers of the biofield and enterinto the chakra system.
Now, chakras are not new age.
They have been around for yearsand years and years in the

(14:37):
Vedic sciences and part of theyoga tradition, and so a chakra
is essentially a wheel, or Ilike to refer to it as a vortex,
and there's three primaryfunctions of this energy center
they receive the informationfrom the environment, they
assimilate that information andthen they express our life force

(15:01):
back out into the environment.
Our life force back out intothe environment.
Now I say that like it's goingto be a one, two, three process,
and there's 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.
There's so many other subtlethings that happen internally,
physiologically, within the bodythat give us the ability to

(15:23):
respond to that environmentalinfluence.
So once an energy comes inthrough a chakra system right,
and you're assimilating thisinformation it will be picked up
chemically by the endocrinesystem, the endocrine glands

(15:43):
listeners, there's going to beseven of them that I talk about
today.
The primary, the main takeawayI want you to understand is that
endocrine glands areresponsible for your hormonal
production and as soon as I sayhormones to women in our age
bracket, they all go.
Yes, I understand what estrogen, progesterone, testosterone are

(16:06):
.
Being perimenopausal andpostmenopausal, all the women
know their hormones, but I'mtalking about all of the
hormones above and beyond thesexual reproductive hormones.
So it can be your sleephormones, your thyroid hormones,
the hormones that your pancreasputs out, the adrenal hormones,
all of these things.
Okay, so again, remember thepathway Energy comes in via the

(16:31):
environment, perpetrates orviolates through your work field
or biofield, hits into a majorenergy center.
For today's conversation we'lltalk about the seven major
energy centers, the chakras thatyou have associated with the
physical body.
The chakra then receives theinformation, you assimilate the
information and all of a suddenyour body starts to change

(16:54):
chemically.
Okay, hormones institute achemical change that then goes
into your central nervous system, up your central nervous system
, into your brain and it createsneuropeptides.
It creates a response, aresponse and eventually it's
going to be an emotionalresponse to that hormonal change

(17:16):
.
So then all of a sudden, you'regetting all of this integration
within your physical body, hormonally and chemically.
Then, all of a sudden, withinyour physical body, hormonally
and chemically, then all of asudden, you make your judgment
and then you express yourselfout into the world.
It's so beautifully in my world, so beautifully complex and
incredibly simple at the sametime.

Rose (17:41):
It does sound complex as you're talking about it, because
there's so many things that itaffects, like you're saying,
okay, so we have imbalances inour hormones and then it could
create sleep imbalances, thyroid, in any of these sectors, but
then it may not, so it depends, right?

(18:01):
So, like, how do we know?
Okay, so how do we know, okay, this imbalance is here.
Or do we know, okay, so how dowe know?
Okay, this imbalance is here oris it here?
Is it here, like, how do weknow in our bodies that, okay,
we're experiencing imbalances?
Is it by our moods?
Is it by an ache?
Is it by what?
Can you, what are the signs?

Dr. Mary (18:18):
Yeah, yes, the answer, yes.
And then some rose.
Everything that you'requestioning can be happening
simultaneously.
The energetic body cannot bedissected out without being able
to say, yeah, it's 100%energetic, because there's got
to be a physical component, there's got to be a mental

(18:39):
component, there needs to be achemical component.
So, I mean, this is allhappening in a very
multidimensional, integrativeway.
Okay, so, for demonstrationpurposes, what I would like to
do, with your permission, rose,is to talk about the first
energy center.
This is going to be the oneenergy center that I dissect.

(19:04):
Okay, and the first energycenter.
Listener, this is the lowestenergy of the seven energy
centers in the physical body.
It's found in the deep recessesof the pelvic bowl.
Okay, it is closest to theearth, it's the slowest of the

(19:28):
frequency of the seven energycenters and it is connected to
the adrenal system.
Okay, now, many of you, in factI would venture to say all of
you know some of the adrenalhormones.
You've heard about them.
Those are going to beadrenaline, the epinephrine, the

(19:48):
norepinephrine, dhea, cortisol.
Those are all hormones that areproduced by adrenals.
The adrenals are glands thatare designed to fluff up and
produce these hormones whenyou're underneath a truly
life-threatening environmentfight or flight.
In today's world, specificallyin a Western world, we are

(20:14):
geared to run in thissympathetic dominance.
We're geared to live alifestyle where we think that
there's a saber-toothed tigerright behind us.
And so what happens is, if wedo this for any length of time,
rose, our hormones will start toshut down.
Our adrenals will begin toatrophy and the adrenals sit

(20:35):
right on top of the kidneysbegin to atrophy and the
adrenals sit right on top of thekidneys.
And so when you start to haveadrenal fatigue, you're the kind
of person who experiences a bigenergetic shift, or like
vitality shift, in the middle ofthe afternoon.
Like, you have a hard time, youknow, getting up and going.

(20:55):
From two to four o'clock in theafternoon you probably have a
hard time getting up and going.
From 2 to 4 o'clock in theafternoon you probably have a
hard time getting up.
In the morning you have theability to exercise.
You do your coffee, you go, youexercise and then you flush out
your adrenals and then youcrash for the rest of the day.
So these are the people thatare addicted to coffee first

(21:16):
thing in the morning, sugar tomaintain that high throughout
the rest of the day, and thenthey have alcohol at the end of
the day in order to bring theirsystem down and then they start
the cycle all over again.
Now you say, hey, mary, how doyou know about this cycle?
Well, I've been there, absolutely been there, and it

(21:36):
did a lot of damage to myadrenal system.
So what can happen?
So that's the endocrine,physiological, chemical,
hormonal changes that happenwhen your first energy center is
compromised Now energetically.
These are the life themes thatpeople will be having.

(21:56):
These are the life themes thatpeople will be having.
The overarching theme of thefirst energy center is all about
safety and security.
Okay, I would venture to saythat probably 99% of the
listeners have a bed to sleep inat night.
I would venture to say that youhave your basic needs met as
far as having food on your tableand a roof over your head, but

(22:20):
somehow, someway over life, wehave experienced challenges that
question our deep trust that wewill always be cared for,
nurtured and protected.
Protected, whether that beabandonment issues, whether that

(22:41):
be financial scarcity, whetherthat show up in not knowing what
your purpose is, or youstruggle in your family dynamics
and you don't know how to quitefit in within your
quote-unquote tribe of peoplethat you choose to surround
yourself with.
So when I say trust, I'mtalking about capital, t-r-u-s-t
.
And so we know most of thewomen within our age bracket.
We've experienced life neurologymesses with the first energy

(23:04):
center, the first chakra, theroot chakra, located deep within
the pelvis.
Then all of the sudden we startto see adrenal symptoms or we

(23:31):
can start to see the bodyregions affected by the nerves
that control the first energycenter, that come out of the
sacrum and innervate into thisenergy center.
So I'm talking about any issuesthat you might be experiencing
with your butt, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankles and feet.

(23:54):
So if somebody comes into myoffice and they say hey look, I
have plantar fasciitis, I'mlooking at their first chakra.
I'm also looking at theirpelvis and their kinematic chain
.
But I'm looking at that energycenter.
Like where is it that they arenot feeling safe?
They could have knee issues, hip issues, sciatic issues.

(24:17):
They could be experiencingvaricocities, hemorrhoids,
things of that nature.
So there are physical bodyparts associated with the energy
center.
There's a nerve connection,there's an emotional connection,

(24:38):
there's a chemical connection, all into and interrelated into
the energy centers would thelower back be associated here,
like the, the lumbar, the?

Rose (24:52):
yes, okay, I wasn't sure if this was this chakra or
because a lot of peopleexperience lower back issues.
You know, related to the firstchakra, okay, great, yes.

Dr. Mary (25:05):
And then you hear yoga practitioners.
If I've heard it once, I'veheard it a million times and yes
, I think that there is.
I know that there is arelationship here.
You'll hear most teacher, yogateachers say, yep, you carry all
of your emotions in your hips, all in your pelvis, right.

Rose (25:20):
But you don't not all of them, no no, you have a lot of
emotions all over the place.
True, yeah, but a lot of themare because a lot of childhood
ones may be stored here becausewe haven't yet resolved.
Some of them stored herebecause we haven't yet resolved
some of them.

Dr. Mary (25:39):
Would you agree with that?
Yes, I would, because I dothink that the, just like in
Jungian psychology, the rest ofthe development typically shows
up in age.
You know, associated withvarious different age brackets,
and I've seen the same thinghappen as you ascend up the
energy centers.
You know the seven major energycenters that we have within the
physical body that you kind ofhave the same theme.

(26:01):
So if you think about all ofyour unconditional messages, you
know the wiring that you pickup from your environment, by you
know, once you're born.
I have a belief system thatbefore you were born in utero
and then up to like six years ofage, that can very much show up
intimately within your firstchakra.

(26:21):
So you know we're talking aboutsome deep-rooted core issues
and we all have them to acertain degree.
But the more healing that youdo within these centers or these
regions you know, the deeperthat you can unravel some of
these issues.

Rose (26:39):
I also believe that it's some of this is ancestral, so it
comes from the mom or the dad.
It could be, I think, most ofthe mom, because she's carrying
you for so long and she hasunresolved issues as well and I
think that we pass them alongand I've heard that also that
theory, from from other experts.
But you know, as you'redescribing this first chakra and

(27:01):
you're talking about all thisstuff, I'm tear.
I'm getting teary eyed herebecause I I can relate to a lot
of what you're saying and I'mthinking that the first chakra
is the one that we really needto focus on, probably more than
anything.
We're all want to focus on ourthird eye and opening up our
third eye and connecting withour intuition and our heart
chakra.
But I'm like you know, I reallyneed to go back to the basics

(27:24):
and ground our energy or grindmy energy personally, yeah.

Dr. Mary (27:31):
Yeah, rose listeners, I'm over here applauding Rose
because what she just describedis spot on, spot on, meaning
that the more intimately that wecan ground down, meet and greet
the frequency of Mother Earth, trust that she has us we are
supported and nurtured, the morewe can do that then we can

(27:53):
allow, we can trust and allowthe energies to flow through us.
But very few of us have gonenot through the training, but
really are committed to thepractice of grounding, and I
find yoga incredibly grounding.
When I step onto the mat, boy,I'm super, super thankful for

(28:17):
that opportunity and I love thissaying, and I know this to be
true, and that is the greatesthealing, transformative healing
that can occur is when ourspirit is fully embodied in her
human home.
So there's many people thatshow up on the mat saying, yeah,

(28:39):
I love being blissed out, Ilove being out in the ether, I
love being out in the cosmos God, I love yoga, I love this, I
love this and they never findtheir human home and so they can
walk off saying that they'respiritually enlightened and
really what they have just doneis a spiritual bypass.
They bypassed their physicalbody, went straight up into the

(29:01):
realms, the higher realms, andthey're really.
They're creating more and moredistortions within that vertical
power, current Distortions thatshow up in the energy centers
and ultimately will impact thephysical body, because that's
the most dense of all theenergetic systems to focus a
little bit on the second chakra, because I know that this is our

(29:23):
boom, our sacral chakra, uh,and how it relates to women.

Rose (29:29):
Um, because that that's I, when I think of women and
divine energy and maybe some ofthe imbalances that we
experience as women.
Besides the root chakra, Ithink a lot of it comes from the
sacral chakra.

Dr. Mary (29:45):
I agree.
Okay, I hold space for a lot ofwomen, and I have to say that
most of the distortions that Iexperienced happened from the
first and the second and thenfollowed by the fifth energy
center, and I'll make thisconnection for the listeners.
The second energy center islocated just below the belly

(30:13):
button.
Okay, now when, in this space, the endocrine gland that's
associated for women is going tobe the ovaries, for men it's
going to be the testes, sothat's going to be your
reproductive hormones, and mostpeople say, okay, yeah, I know
what the second chakra is allabout.
That's all about creation andthe ability to procreate and I'm
just here to say yes.

(30:33):
And it's about aligning andconnecting into your deepest
desires.
What do you wish to create inthis world, this lifetime?
What are you here for?
And our environment is anythingbut supportive in women in this

(30:54):
area, meaning that we aretaught and conditioned to take
care of everyone else firstbefore we take care of ourselves
.
That brings me to a reallyimportant point, and that is the
second energy center.
Rose is most intimatelyconnected into clairsentience,
the ability to perceive otherpeople's emotions, thoughts,

(31:19):
energies.
We're conditioned to think aswomen in our society.
You know what my friend's.
Really.
She's struggling right now.
She's emotionally going througha lot.
I know that she is.
She's having a hard time.
So what I will do, because I'msuch a good friend I'm going to

(31:41):
hold some of that energy for her, I'm going to make her life
easier.
I'm going to be the good friendthat I am and I'm going to hold
some of that energy.
And it's within the space of thesecond chakra that women do
that, people do that, and sothen it becomes really confusing
when you start to tap into whatyou're supposed to be
connecting, into your deepestdesires.

(32:01):
You're holding other people'senergies within this energy
center.
Then the information that youget is very muddled.
You're like is that my friend'smessage?
Is that my parent's message?
Is that my spouse's message?
Are those my kids' messages, orare those truly what I desire?
It becomes an orchestra ofnoise.

(32:22):
So the second energy center isa space that I really invite
women and if you hear my passionkind of boiling up because it's
been a journey for me, I'mincredibly clairsentient.
I know this energy centerincredibly well and it deserves
the awareness for healing, because what sits in there, in

(32:46):
the deep-seated desires, is justsomething that is uniquely you,
how you authentically show upin the fifth energy center in
this world this lifetime around.
So we know that we connect intothe ovaries all of the hormones
associated with the ovaries.

(33:06):
The physical body region canshow up as symptoms like
excessive PMS or challengesperimenopausal, postmenopausal.
It can show up as bladderissues, kidney issues.
It can show up as intestinaldysfunction.
It can show up as SI pain, sacroiliac pain in the low back.

(33:32):
It can show up oh goodness, Iam Cysts on the ovaries.

Rose (33:36):
Cysts on the ovaries.

Dr. Mary (33:38):
Yes, Ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, cervical
dysplasia.
It can show up in infertilitymiscarriages.
It can show up Wow, so manydifferent ways, so many

(34:01):
different ways, and it'smulti-layered.
I just hope that everybodylistening can say you know, if
you're now in your 50s, reflectback as to what it felt like
when you were 15 years old, whatit was when you were 25 years
old, what it was like when youwere 35 years old.
We go through life intransitions and it is based upon
literally the environmentalinfluence of the conditioned

(34:22):
responses that come through theauric field and penetrate into
that energy center.
So when I say, stop carryingother people's energies, you're
like, okay, yeah, right, lady, that's pretty hard to do and it
is.
It is.
That's one of the first things.
If I were to summarize, ifsomebody said, well, Mary, what

(34:43):
are the top three things thatyou see in your practice, I
would say I teach grounding.
Number one.
Number two I teach what iscalled a detached alignment or a
neutral separation.
So then that's when you canplace all of your loved ones or
people that influence yououtside of your auric field and

(35:05):
you can lovingly separate fromthem so that you can come back
to self and have a clearunderstanding as to what you
physically, emotionally,chemically need.

Rose (35:17):
You mentioned that the distortions occur in the first,
second chakra, but also youmentioned the fifth chakra,
which is the throat chakra, andthat's another one I agree with
because, as women, there aremany women who can voice I was
thinking about that today thatcan say whatever's on their mind
and express themselves andcreate those binders.
But there's some of us thatstruggle and struggle and we

(35:40):
can't because we're afraid ofwhat other people think and what
other people will say, and youknow we're not used to creating
those binders through our voiceor our expression.
Can you talk a little bit aboutthat?
How can we overcome?

Dr. Mary (35:55):
that.
Yeah, that's a lot of theconditioned responses that we
learned very early on and thoseare most of us and I'm in this
category.
Okay, I am not excluded.
This has been a serious topicof my own personal healing and,
yeah, I was raised in a verycritical family or very critical

(36:17):
parents, authoritative, theywanted to see me in my presence
but they never wanted to hear me.
Okay, so when we sat down atthe dinner table, I was required
to be there at 5 pm to sit downat the dinner table, but then I
was not part of theconversation.
They really didn't want to hearmy opinion.
And if I did talk back, if Idid have an opinion, if it

(36:40):
wasn't in alignment I was alsoraised by a narcissistic father
then that was an issue.
That was a big issue if Iwasn't in alignment with his
belief system.
So these kinds of things show upas distortions within the
energy center, the throat chakra.

(37:00):
Okay, that will cause a coupleof different things.
You can have an underexpressive, an under active
energy center and you can havean overactive energy center.
So the under active is going tobe who's somebody who's really
reserved, somebody who's timidand who has a really kind of a

(37:23):
soft voice and then theoveractive is going to be
somebody who talks nonstop, willnot stop talking at a very loud
voice.
So the loudest person in therestaurant.
You can hear them a mile awayand they talk nonstop and they
think that everybody wants tohear what they have to say.
So when I talk about expression, I can say honestly, voice is

(37:47):
one way of expressing.
It can be through written word,it can be through art, it can
be through song, it can bethrough dance, it can be.
Expression is unique to eachindividual person and so,
consequently, the body regionsthat are associated with the
throat.

(38:07):
You can look at neck issues.
You can look at shoulders, elbows, arms and wrist.
You can look at jaw issues, mouth issues, teeth issues, ears
.
Now I'm hearing impaired so Iwas like oh, wow, wow, wow, wow,
okay, so I get it.
I chose to come in to thisworld being hearing impaired,
but it also put you know therewas a consequence to it as far

(38:31):
as the energy space within thefifth.
I also come from a lineage youtalk about epigenetics earlier
that I have aligned with anexpression of Hashimoto's, which
is an autoimmune deficiency ofthe thyroid, and coupled with it
I've had cervical disc issues,I've had shoulder issues, you

(38:54):
name it.
I've had everything that can berepresented within this energy
center.
Now, there was a period in mylife when I was going through
extreme burnout and I wasmiserable and I was really,
really, really resistant toseeing the truth that my entire

(39:15):
front side of my neck broke outin the most unsightly festering
inflamed cysts and I was like, what is this?
So I'm like I started wearingscarves and turtlenecks, trying,
know, trying to like hide myneck, and I was just like, oh my
goodness, my body was screamingfor healing.

(39:39):
So, listeners, if you're outthere and you're like, oh my
goodness, okay, so this lady islike triggering me because I'm
not looking at my throat.
Please know that my intentionis coming from a place of love
and I'm inviting you not toignore that energy center or any
of your energy centers.
Life is too precious.

Rose (40:00):
Yes, no, I agree, that was yes.
I think that's a wake up callfor many women.
You talked about burnout beforetoo, and I hear so much about
burnout.
Do you work with women withburnout?
I know you do, because it's allrelated to our energy.

Dr. Mary (40:14):
Yeah, every day, every day.
And you know I, rose, I wentthrough a burnout.
I'm not gonna I'm not gonnamake it sound anything glorious
or glamorous, because it wasn't.
It was a very dark phase of mylife.
So I used to talk a lot aboutburnout.
I do now, but from a place ofI've restoried it.

(40:38):
If I hadn't had gone throughthe depth of my burnout, I don't
think where I would be where Iam today.
So if you're experiencingburnout, please know that you're
not alone.
Number one, you are so notalone.
You are within the majority.
It's just that people are nottalking about it.
And if they do talk about it,they talk about how tired they

(40:59):
are and they talk about theirnext vacation and they fantasize
about leaving their job, butthey are not filled with any
kind of actionable steps.
And very few people are talkingabout the cycle, know the cycle
, the downward negative cyclethat happen when you're in a
deep burnout.

Rose (41:19):
What is that?
Can you talk a little bit moreabout this, like, what do people
experience when they're gettingburnt out?

Dr. Mary (41:27):
Yeah, I think that there's a sense of isolation.
That happens, I'll be honestwith you.
People think that they're alonebecause of the stigma, you know
, that it carries within the, inthe culture.
Not very many people are honestabout their burnout and so they
can't really identify.
They think that they just need, you know, a couple of weeks off
, or maybe they could go workremotely and that would change

(41:48):
everything.
I mean, you know, everybody hastheir own little fantasy, right
?
We all have them.

Rose (41:53):
It's like, it's like we want to escape, like I thought,
like, ok, I just I'm ready tojust pack a bag and just jump on
a plane and go anywhere else, just for a change of scenery.
I think even just that.
You know, we're so isolatedmore now since COVID, I think we
work from home.
We're in our basement, we're inour closets, we're in our rooms
, we're in our basement, we'rein our closets, we're in our

(42:19):
rooms, we're not getting out.
There's this.
You know, we watch Netflix allday long or all night long.
It's like where's that, I don'tknow that change of scenery
that we need and copingmechanisms for when we are not
feeling well.
We need to create those orlearn what those are.

Dr. Mary (42:32):
Yeah, I look at it as a shift of perspective, so I'm
not inviting people.
This is what I see meditationdoes for me, and meditation
literally allows me the time andthe space to shift my
consciousness, to alter myperception, so it's a little bit
more expansive, and so those wecan the list of things that we

(42:56):
do, whether it be streamingNetflix, whether it be scrolling
social media, whether it bealcohol, whether it be shopping,
whether it be you can think ofall the addictive behaviors that
we have that we do incessantlybecause we think that it turns
off our brain and it doesn't.
It doesn't.

(43:17):
So if we can lean into the ideathat there are healthy coping
mechanisms that will give usmore tools and resources I mean,
that's part of what I stand for, that I didn't have the tools
and the resources when I wentthrough my burnout, and now I do
, thankfully Right, and oh mygoodness, I can't imagine my

(43:39):
world if I didn't have thoseresources.

Rose (43:42):
Right and you offer those resources, you have what is
called an energy medicinetoolbox.

Dr. Mary (43:47):
Yes.

Rose (43:48):
Let's talk about that.

Dr. Mary (43:50):
Oh, thank you for bringing that up, rose.
I'm in the process of there aretwo cohorts that happen every
year, but I hold the space in a12-week transformative kind of
Earth, energy, life force,energy, kundalini.
I help people identify theirboundaries and how to neutrally

(44:20):
separate, then to charge, tocleanse, to clean, to fortify
your energetic system.
So this whole process I mean itis like.
So I've had the opportunity tohold space for others and I'm
really starting to appreciatehow beautifully layered it is to
help support the evolution ofsomebody's energetic development

(44:44):
.
And these are, when I saytoolbox, these are practical
tools that you can do every dayand not just for the 12 weeks
that you're in the course.
This can really alter yourlifestyle if you choose it to.
And so then we end that program, the first phase of it in really
learning what it's like to sitand to expand into the space of

(45:08):
the eighth chakra, where ouressential motherboard of our
programming.
So this is our area ofmanifestation.
And then we begin to use ourbreath, combined with bandhas,
yoga bandhas, in order to ascendup and out into the area of the
space of the quantum field, sothat we can then begin to align

(45:35):
with the version of self thatalready exists out in the
quantum, to bring it back intothe physical body for
manifestation on this physicalplane.
So I am, I'm like in the realmof possibilities.
To know that I get to holdspace for other people in this

(45:56):
process is so I don't even havea word to describe it.
It's humbling, it's rewarding.
Oh my God, it's it then.
That's just, it's.
That's not even the right wordin the English language.
I don't have a word for it.

Rose (46:17):
That's beautiful and you know.
I want to tell people that youhave an amazing podcast as well
and you did talk about thisquantum field and quantum leap
and all that.
Check out Dr Mary's podcast aswell, but they can find you this
energy medicine toolbox on yourwebsite and also you have some,

(46:37):
I think, a free meditation aswell that they can sign up for.

Dr. Mary (46:41):
I do.
So.
I talked about the three commonthings that people deal, that I
hold space for when somebodynew comes into my practice, and
that is the grounding and alsothe neutral separations and then
bringing their timing clockinto present time consciousness.
Those three videos, or thoseaudios, are coupled together in

(47:03):
a free meditation guide, sothose are available to you.
Please just go and downloadthem and listen to them.
You may be wondering whatthey're all about, but once you
listen to them you'll get abetter understanding.
And then on my website you'llfind a link for the podcast
Energy Medicine, where we talkabout all things that align the
mind, body and spirit.
And then, last but not least, you'll also find the information

(47:26):
outlining all the 12 weeks ofthe transformative process for
the Energetic Toolbox.

Rose (47:32):
Yeah, beautiful, and you know I subscribe to some
newsletters and emails that Iget, but I have to say I love
yours, I get yours, I subscribeto yours, so I really learned a
lot from your email.
So anyone out there that willget rid of some of the stuff on
your in your inbox that doesn'tbelong anymore, clear it out and
sign up for Dr Mary's, becauseit's absolutely awesome.

(47:54):
I love it.
Thank you.

Dr. Mary (47:56):
Thank you, rose.
It's been a labor of love andit's been a learning experience,
because I, as you can tell, Ican get really heady in some of
these things, and so I wanteverybody to have all the
information at once.
And so then they read thenewsletter and they say I'm more
confused than ever.
So, now I'm trying to simplifyit and just kind of make it

(48:17):
easier to digest.

Rose (48:18):
Yeah, no, I get it and I know I have to be mindful of
your time because I know youhave a practice to go to and
this has been amazing and I knowwe can have so much to talk,
more talk about.
But I just want to thank you somuch for being here and for
your time.
Is there anything else youwanted to say that?
Maybe you're.
No, I know you've shared somuch of your yourself and the
passion you have for the workthat you do.

Dr. Mary (48:46):
Thank you, rose.
I will say that, as beingsensitive, beautifully sensitive
, like all of the listeners, Ican feel all of you and I can
tap into the essence in yourbeauty and your ability to
expand.
So, oh, wow, what an honor tobe able to connect with all of
you today.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
