Have you ever wondered what a Disney World vacation would look like without stepping foot in a theme park? We've crafted the ultimate resort-only Disney adventure, proving there's plenty of magic beyond the turnstiles.

Starting with cocktails (naturally), we recreate Narcoosee's Empress Lime Gimlet before diving into our meticulously planned week-long Disney resort experience. From Boardwalk strolls to Skyliner resort hopping, we map out daily itineraries filled with activities most parkgoers never discover.

The Disney bubble offers surprising depth without a single ride or character meet. We discuss splurge-worthy experiences like the Grand Floridian spa, Starlight Safaris at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and private fireworks cruises. Our culinary journey spans signature restaurants like Flying Fish, Jiko, and Topolino's, alongside hidden gems and quick-service standouts.

Our detailed budget breakdown reveals a startling discovery—this luxurious resort-only approach might actually cost more than traditional park visits. When trading ride time for fine dining and specialty experiences, the price climbs quickly, though the relaxed pace and unique memories might justify the splurge.

Whether you're a Disney veteran seeking a new experience or someone who appreciates the Disney aesthetic without attraction crowds, this episode offers a fresh perspective on vacationing within the Disney bubble. Could your next Disney trip be park-free? The resorts alone might just provide all the magic you need.

What would your ideal no-parks Disney itinerary include? Share your must-do resort experiences or hidden gem restaurants you'd prioritize on a park-free vacation!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello and welcome to Cheers to Ears, where today
we're drinking an Empress LimeGimlet which is made with
Empress 1908 gin, rocky'sBotanical Liqueur, cane sugar
and cold-pressed lime juice, andit's $17 at Narcoozie's at the
Grand Floridian, or we like tocall it the Grand Californian,
in Florida.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Right, we you?
Anyway, getting back to ourdrink, we did kirkland brand gin
.
We didn't do the empressbecause I wasn't going to drop
50 bucks on a bottle to do onespecific drink.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
So and we used a kirkland brand gin here for the
bartesian yes, I think it'sBombay, sapphire is what it's
just relabeled Kirkland.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
So we did that.
We did Bowles ElderflowerLiqueur for the Rockies
Botanical Simple Syrup.
We did two ounces of gin, ahalf ounce of the Elderflower
Liqueur, a half ounce of theSimple Syrup and three quarters
of an ounce of fresh lime juice.
Over ice Shaken in a shaker andpoured into a coupe glass with a

(01:11):
little lime garnish, and it'stasty, it's good, it's really
good, so I'm surprised.
So the lime is not too tart.
The elderflower liqueur adds abit of a floral note.
That's subtle, but it helps theflavor.
Overall you don't get a realstrong gin flavor.
You get a good lime flavorthough.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
That's what makes this drink so good.
You can taste all the flavorsand they're all subtle.
Nothing sticks out.
All blend together, so well.
It just works.
I didn't think it was going towork.
I thought it was going to betart.
Blend together so well.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
It just works.
I didn't think it was going towork.
I thought it was going to betart.
This is one.
When I went through menus justlooking for drinks, I wanted to
try this and they also do a keylime martini that looks really
good, but I did this one.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Glad I did this is a good choice, very good.
Try this at home.
Try this at Narcoosies yeah, just try it.
But today we're talking abouttaking a disney trip to disney
world and not going to the parkat all for a whole week.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah, and I say disney world because you can't
really go to disneyland, becauseyou're just going to anaheim.
There's no disney bubble there, and if you're not going to the
parks, there's no point in going, because that's what the whole
deal is.
So we went there a week.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
I could stay a couple days at Disneyland Hotel, not a
week, but I could stay twonights no park.
I could totally do that, couldyou?
Yeah, maybe three nights.
Okay, just hanging out atDisneyland Hotel, going downtown
Disney, just chilling.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
I think because there's not a lot of tours or
excursions that are available inDisneyland, so it's just
hanging by the pool or hangingout in a lounge.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
I like looking at stuff too and going shopping
like you don't.
Yeah, that's true, yeah, that'sa difference.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
But I mean downtown Disney is like a couple of hours
and you're good.
Yeah, maybe run around incircles in the plaza I could do
it every day, shopping every day, seriously.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Anyway, we gotta dive into this, because I wrote a
lot of stuff okay, we'll have torein you in.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
so this is a sunday through saturday trip, right,
flying in on sunday, flying outon saturday, monday through
friday in parks?
How did you start out your day,or where did?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
you stay.
Day one I fly into Orlando andcheck into the Boardwalk Inn.
Okay, as you knew I would do.
Yes, do you want me to just gothrough my day one real quick?
Yeah, sure, why not?
Okay, okay.
So day one explore Boardwalk.
All right, there's streetperformers and the whole
ambiance of the place.
Just walk around Boardwalkbecause we're flowing in the
middle of the day.
Then have dinner at Flying Fish.

(03:48):
I ordered for me and Christy.
So if you're listening to this, christy, see how I did.
I ordered the seared scallopsfor Christy $54.
The potato-wrapped red snapperfor myself for $60.
And then she had a peanutbutter freeze to drink $15.50.
And I had an espresso martini.

(04:09):
That's $15.50.
Okay, I'm going to tell youabout these drinks really quick.
Peanut butter freeze is Kahlualiqueur, bailey's Irish cream
liqueur Bowles, cream de bananaliqueur Bowles, cream de cocoa,
dark liqueur and peanut butter, the espresso martini we've had
on the show before.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
So I'll just skip that.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
I had the potato-wrapped red snapper $60.
She had the seared scallop $54.
We had the peanut butter freezeand the espresso martini, and
they're both $15.50.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Okay, you actually went in a little more detail
than I did.
Yeah, I'll go through themreally quick.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Because of the food Right, because I ordered the
food and then I added it all upat the end.
So I'll give a total price atthe end for the whole trip.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Okay, so mine it's just a solo trip.
I think that's what I figured.
Actually, this would work forsolo or whatever.
But my arrival day I stayed atthe Yachter Beach Club either
one of those just because Iwanted access to Stormalong Bay,
the pool there, and assuming Iwas flying from Portland on

(05:07):
Alaska Air, which means I'm atthe resort by 5 o'clock.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Okay.
I didn't put plane ticket price.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
I didn't add that in it can be anywhere from $300 to
$500, depending on time of year.
My whole focus on this wasexcursions and nicer restaurants
Excursions.
Yes, focus on this wasexcursions and nicer restaurants
Excursions.
Yes, because there are optionsof doing some tours excursions
without going into the parks.
Right, and I think actually Ididn't even go up to, because

(05:36):
there's a lot of stuff to do andI know this isn't your place,
but Fort Wilderness, thecampgrounds, there are a lot of
things there kayak rentals, bikeriding.
That would be a lot of fun, butnot necessarily your thing, and
I don't know if I.
I can't remember if I actuallyplanned it into my week.
Right, but a lot of stuff thereto do.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
That would be my thing if I wasn't going to the
parks.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I think I would totally do something like that.
My arrival I just went to theabracadabra, okay, and I forgot
to go there.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
I was kind of holy crap I didn't go there at all no
, not any day.
I kept thinking about it andnot putting in my day.
So that was it, some food anddrinks.
I didn't actually look into itas to what food or drinks or
anything into that detail, butyeah, that's kind of what I do,
low-key yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
On our day one, we in our night sharing that
strawberry riptide milkshake atthe Warlock Ice Cream and then
maybe take a Skyliner ride tolook over at nighttime.
Oh yeah, At the resorts.
Just a quick ride, no, justriding back.
That's our first day, so daytwo you want to go over here or

(06:47):
day two.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Where are you staying ?
Did you say where you'restaying?
Probably the Yacht Club, butYacht and Beach I mean kind of
the same Right.
But I did more of the YachtClub.
I was thinking more of theYacht Club and I'm going to get
a little confused because I putarrival day and then day one.
So my day one and your day twoare the same thing.
So day two, the first full day,I'm there.
We have a late breakfast atGwendolyn Rogers.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Of course you went there.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah, cause I've been dying to try Gwendolyn Rogers,
cause I want to try their croque, madame, because I've had it at
the Riviera and it's, I'veheard, is even better, like tons
better at Gwendolyn Rogers.
It's hard to beat, I don't know.
So this is a very low key daylate breakfast wander over there
at about 10 o'clock.
Of course I would have to havea reservation long before then

(07:35):
to actually get in.
But just a pool day hanging outin the lazy river by the pool
pool bar, hanging out there allday, nice, getting some snacks
from the poolside bar.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Nice.
So to save time, I will justskip all the prices and tell you
the price at the end.
You guys can look up the priceson anything I say if you like.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
I will post the drinks we had on our Facebook
page.
And so, to wrap up day one, Iwas going to go to the Crew Club
Lounge at the Yacht Club fordinner Because they have those
prime rib sliders that I've beenwanting to try.
Those sound really good.
I looked at their drink menuand it's not impressive, but I
figured I'd still go for thesliders and call it good, right,

(08:22):
yeah, but there's a lot of goodplaces in there, in both those
that are interesting to try.
Maybe wander over to theBeaches and Cream the ice cream
shop over at Beach Clubafterwards, but yeah, that's a
good idea.
It's a low-key because of thatfirst day where you just want to
keep things low-key, uh-huh.
So this is your.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Monday this is my Monday.
Okay, so is low-key, uh-huh.
So this is your Monday.
This is my Monday, okay, sothis is my Monday.
Now, that was my Sunday when Iflew in.
We had dinner and that's all wehad, yeah, so day two, we get
up and have breakfast atBoardwalk Bakery Two bagel
breakfast sandwiches and twoJoffrey's cold brew.
So that's what they have.
Then we do a little Skylinerresort tour, caribbean Beach,

(09:03):
riv Riviera and Art of Animation.
We just hit those really quick, just explore the areas, check
them out.
Then we go to Fantasia Gardens, mini Golf at the Swan Hotel oh,
place of mini golf.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I didn't even think about that.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
That sounds really fun Because that's in the same
area that I'm at too, so then wejust have some pool time at
Luna Park Pool at the Boardwalkwhere we have a pina colada and
one of my favorites, the bananacabana.
And then we have dinner at Aleand Compass at the Yacht Club.
I have the New England seafoodpot pie.
She has the popper deli pastawith shrimp.

(09:37):
Our drinks are a Purple Marinerand a New England Cherry Swirl.
Both sound delicious.
That is our day two.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
So Carousel Coffee is an option when you're at the
Boardwalk.
You know how.
They have La Petite Cafe, whichhas great cold brews at Riviera
, and Carousel Coffee's good,I've heard.
It's another good coffee shop,really.
So you don't need to drinkJoffrey's.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Oh man, that changed my whole.
That plusses my trip up.
Yeah, I had a lot of Joffrey'scold brews.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
I'm looking at Joffrey's cold brew, nitro cold
brew, shake-a-rotto, but theyhave better options there Right
Than like riviera.
So that's another one.
And then what was the other?
Oh so you were talking aboutyour pot pie at allen compass.
Okay, so there's a newrestaurant bourbon steak over at
the dolphin.
Okay, that's where I had dinnerfor my day two.

(10:36):
They have a lobster pot pie.
This is a seafood pot pie alsoyeah, but it was.
It looked incredible and Iwatched.
I think it was all ears.
They did a review of it andjust said their food there was
incredible.
So throwing out an option.
This restaurant's been openlike two weeks, wow, so another

(10:58):
option for great.
They said the steaks were someof the best on property.
And then they had that Mainelobster pot pie.
They just said incredible thepresentation when they served it
.
It just looked incredible.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
I'm going to watch that because I love a pot pie,
yeah, and I just looked goodwhen I was.
Yeah, I was wanting to go as Iwas doing this podcast.
Okay, do you want my day threeright now?
Sure, tuesday is my DisneySprings day.
We're just going to relax andchill out and walk around Disney
Springs, grab a quick snack forbreakfast at the Boardwalk
Bakery, just share a Mickeycinnamon roll, a couple of

(11:34):
Joffrey coffees again.
But then we're going to fly.
We're going to do the Aerofileballoon flight at Disney Springs
.
It's $3 a person.
And then we're also going to dothe tour with the car at
Boathouse oh, the Aquamobile.
That's $125 for the car.
We can find another couple togo with us.
It's up to four people.
That does look fun.
So those are the two thingswe're going to do, but I want to

(11:55):
go to Wine Bar.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
George, I really want to go there.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
So it's just a shared lunch.
At Wine Bar George.
We're going to have the BigBoard, which is a charcuterie
board with meats and cheeses.
The price of that is $64.
That's quite a bit.
My drink is the Wine Bar George, old Fashioned, and she'll have
the Scripted in Summer.
It's a really cool drink.
It has rum, strawberry andrhubarb.
Oh, that sounds really good.
And then we'll have dinner atBoathouse Nice, where she'll

(12:21):
have the grilled mahi tacos, ofcourse, right, and the jumbo
lump crab cake looks really good.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
I've heard that's the best seafood there, really yeah
.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
And then we'll have a couple beers, because we've
drank a lot of mixed drinksCocktails already.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
They have a Dockside Haze by Florida Avenue.
Brewing Sounds pretty good.
Oh, and then an Island CitrusBlonde Ale from Ismerelda
Brewing in Fort Pierce, which wejust visited.
Fort Pierce is a great littletown on the Florida coast.
So yeah, that's our day three.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
So my Tuesday I wake up, simple breakfast, just the
quick service at the Yacht BeachClub.
Then I'm doing the four-hourfishing excursion.
Right, it's all docked rightthere.
Just have them take around forfour hours and pretty early.
I want to go before the heatbuilds up and just do some
fishing in that lake in betweenHollywood Studios and Epcot.

(13:20):
How much is that, do you know?
It is $ okay for up to, Ibelieve, four people.
I think drinks are provided.
Maybe drinks aren't provided, but you can bring your own
drinks and snacks if you're solo.
You're paying the whole it'sfour hundred dollars.
Yes, it's 400 for a boat,whether it's one person or up to

(13:41):
five.
They're very nice pontoon boats.
You have a guide, you have acaptain, so he's handling all of
that stuff.
But, yeah, something that.
And honestly, at some point wealmost did this on our last trip
because Dave and Bradespecially Brad loves fishing
and so we were talking aboutdoing a fishing trip for them.

(14:02):
Probably we'll end up on one ofthose fishing trips and I think
you can do it for two hours, but I just went ahead and did
the four hour, maybe the pooland a nap in the afternoon,
because if you're out in the sun, whatever nap might sound good,
just hang out in the pool, cooloff a bit.
For dinner, like I justmentioned, bourbon steak over at

(14:23):
the Dolphin.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Hotel.
Oh, so you had it in there, yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
So it's real close and I was like, oh well, you're
going for that because I want totry that pot pie so we can
compare.
Yes, the pot pies Compare, andthey also had some really good
looking appetizers at thatlocation.
So at some point that's on thebucket list of restaurants that
I want to try before itpotentially goes downhill.

(14:47):
I know it's like super good now, but you never can tell if you
know where things are going togo.
That's a good day and ending itwith a really good dinner.
That's nice.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
My day four.
There's no alarm clock on dayfour, we're just sleeping in.
When there's no alarm clock onday four, we're just sleeping in
sleep.
It's a resort chill day.
So this is the splurge I put onthere.
I put two prices at the end,one without this it's 390
dollars for the grand floridianspa couples massage.
So we're cruising over therehaving a couples massage and

(15:18):
then, if that tea room everopens again at ground Floridian
it's been closed forever, right,if it opens back up and they
have the afternoon tea, that'dbe really cool to have a massage
and then have a tea.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yeah, that sounds great, doesn't it?

Speaker 1 (15:33):
But it's not open right now.
Then just a sunset walk on theboardwalk.
And then did I put where we'regoing to eat.
I didn't put the place we'regoing to eat at, because we're
going to have a pizza somewherefor dinner.
Okay, I think it's at theboardwalk.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
There's a pizza window.
Yeah, but there's an Italianplace there too.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
That's where we're going the Italian place.
Okay, I forgot the name of itTrattoria, something like that.
I forgot the name of it.
Anyway, a pizza and then acouple drinks.
Tr.
Victoria, al Forno, yep, that'sthe place.
So just shared a pizza, havinga couple drinks.
Nice, and that's our day four.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Okay, so my day four.
Wednesday breakfast at theRiviera, the quick service,
piatto, yeah, whether or not Igo for the croque madame again,
I might just do the regularbreakfast, which is still good.
Their pancakes were incrediblewith the lemon curd blueberries,

(16:27):
but yeah, really good.
And then it's just resorthopping, walking around the
boardwalk checking that out, then heading over to Coronado,
either the Dahlia Lounge to havea drink or Three Bridges Bar
and Grill.
It's a nice resort, it's bigand just to walk around for a
bit.
And then for dinner, headingover to Animal Kingdom.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Starting off dinner at Boma at Animal Kingdom, okay,
but I'm ending the night withthe Starlight Safari.
Oh, at Animal Kingdom Are?

Speaker 1 (16:59):
you guys doing that.
I will join you in a coupledays.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Tell me how it was.
If you're going with Christy,it would be the thing to do, and
at least go by Animal Kingdomto show it off and stuff.
Did you go to Animal Kingdom?

Speaker 1 (17:12):
with her.
Yeah, I took her to AnimalKingdom right after.
That's where we met Eli.
Okay, I remember when shewanted to leave Animal Kingdom.
So bad to get to the lodge.
Oh, that's right, because Eliwas in Orlando, him and Addie
had entered Orlando and then allof a sudden, she didn't want to
be in the parks anymore.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yeah, so Starlight Safari.
Thank you, christy and Ian wentto Starlight Safari for that
day.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
That's perfect.
My day five is when I moved toAnimal Kingdom Savannah Room for
the rest of my stay.
We're just going to chill outall day in Animal Kingdom just
walking around.
It's a great place to walkaround outside and we'll have a
Savannah room and a great lobbyto hang out.
Yeah, we're just going to chillout in the pool, whatever.
And then we're going to havedinner at our favorite

(17:57):
restaurant, sanaa Sanaa.
Yeah, christy's never had thebread service.
First thing we'll do is orderthat bread service, right, yeah,
and we're gonna share thegrilled lamb.
I'm gonna have it again, okay, but we're just gonna share it
because it's so big.
Remember how much food that wasthe bread service and the meat.
That was a lot of food.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
We had four people to share the bread service.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Right's even more.
It's gonna be two of us, yeah, and then I will have the african
mai tai and she'll have theafrican star mojito, nice for
drinks, and that's just our day.
Five, just chilling in animalkingdom, nice, which is pretty
much our next day too, but gowith your day six.
Is your you're on right, or isthis your day?

Speaker 2 (18:40):
five, day five.
So this is thursday.
So day four morning yacht, beach for breakfast.
Day five yeah sorry, I put itas day four.
So thursday yacht and beach forbreakfast just again another
simple, easy breakfast.
Then I'm gonna do some resorthopping for the magic kingdom
resorts grand floridian, polyianmaybe head over to Wilderness

(19:02):
Lodge, maybe over to FortWilderness to walk around the
Triple Circle D Ranch with allthe horses.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Yeah, it's cool.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
It's just fun to walk around there.
It's a quick little ferry rideand I love taking ferries when
I'm on property, so most of thatis just walking around those
resorts and checking them out.
Now, tambu lounge, because Iwant to have either that, or
kona cafe for maybe a lunch toget the lapu lapu right, yeah,

(19:35):
because I want to try that inthe parks and stuff.
Light spot of lunch there, yeah, and then for dinner, narcooses
there you go which is wherethis drink came from.
mine's gone.
Yeah, mine's gone too.
There's a little sip left, butyeah, I've looked at the menu of
narcooses and it's one of thoseit would be hard for me to pick
.
The appetizers, look good, theentrees look good, the desserts,

(20:00):
look, the drinks everything inthere looks really good.
Plus, it's over the water.
If you go during dinner timeduring the fireworks, you can
watch fireworks from therestaurant.
But I don't do that, so we'rehaving kind of an early dinner.
I'm going to do the fireworkscruise.
Oh nice, that's a good idea.
I would love to do that, butnot at Magic Kingdom.

(20:21):
I'm going back to my hotel andI'm going to do the fireworks
cruise at Epcot instead, just totry something a little bit
different.
So that's my day.
I want to end close to theresort that I'm staying at.
Yeah, that's cool.
So that's your Thursday.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
That's my Thursday, so Friday, so my Friday is an
immersive Animal Kingdom Lodgeday.
Uh-huh, it's going to immerseourself in the entire lodge.
We're going to have a morningcoffee in the room.
So we have the Savannah room, right, yeah, so we splurged on
that.
So we're going to sit and havea cup of coffee on the deck and
just look out at the Savannahfor a while and see if we spot
any animals or anything.
Nice, and then the Mara is aquick serve.

(21:02):
We're going to have breakfastthere Just Mickey waffles, a
croissant breakfast sandwich anda couple mochas.
Nice, just a quick, easybreakfast.
But then we're going to do acultural tour of the resort.
So they have cultural tours youcan take during the day.
Oh, I didn't know that.
They just give history talksand walk around the Savannah
area.
Oh, very cool't know that theyjust give history talks and walk
around the Savannah area.

(21:22):
Oh, very cool, just a littlewalking tour that's free.
Then we're going to take apainting class.
Oh, at the resort, $45 a personand you just take a painting
class together.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Sounds kind of fun For my previous day while I'm at
Coronado.
I might have to look into theSangria University.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Yeah, you should.
Yeah, look into the SangriaUniversity, the Sangria.
Yeah, you should.
Yeah, yeah, you should add thatright now.
That's added on.
That's added on.
Yeah, then we have dinner atJinko the Cooking Place Jinko,
jinko, yeah, jinko, with N.
In silent there's no N.
Oh, I put an N.
Okay, jinko the Cooking Placeand go to the cooking place and
I'm gonna have a steak for thefirst time of the trip.

(22:01):
Okay, so here's where I'm gonnatell you prices, because here's
how the order is gonna go.
Okay, christy, there I'm gonnasay I really want a steak and
it's 62 dollars.
Yeah, right.
So she's gonna see that and sayI'll just have the the diver
scallop with pork bellyappetizer for 18 for dinner.
That's what she'll have.
But then I'm to have a twoounce pour of the McClellan 15

(22:24):
year Ooh Spice side.
It's $30 for a two ounce pour.
I'm going to have that with mysteak.
This is our last night, so I'mgoing hog wild, right.
Then I'm going to finish itwith a Cape Town coffee, okay,
which is an alcoholic beverage.
Yeah, just alcoholic beverage.
Yeah, just to sip on it afterdinner.
And then Christy will havedessert wine because of all the

(22:45):
stuff I'm ordering.
So she'll order the BrudbuntMadeira Tenier, which is $18 for
the dessert wine.
And then we're going to do theStarlight Safari after that.
Nice, that's $89 a person.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
Okay, yeah, I forgot to add the price to that one and
the firework cruise.
That ends our night.
That ends our night.
So my friday we're gonna resorthop, but the disney springs
kind of area okay well, becauseI still want to check out
saratoga it's the only resort Ihaven't.
But I want to have brunch atolivia's at old key west because

(23:20):
it looks like a pretty goodmenu.
So I want to go have breakfastthere.
That's pretty much it Go checkout Saratoga and then have
brunch at Old Key West and thenhead back Afternoon just hanging
out in the pool, pool bar, whatever.
But dinner is at Topolino'sover at the Riviera Been wanting
to check that out.
The views just look incrediblefrom there.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
I had that on my list .
I was going to go for lunchthere, but they're not open for
lunch.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Oh, okay, just breakfast and dinner, Right when
I was at Riviera.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
I looked at their menu.
I wanted to go to Topolino's,but there was just breakfast and
dinner.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
I thought about going to checking out Toledo's again,
but been there, haven't been toTopolino.
So going to Topolino Then justhead back to the hotel and call
it an evening.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
I almost added Cirque du Soleil onto my trip to see
the show, but they don't haveperformances on Tuesday and
that's the day I was at DisneySprings.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
I looked through the schedule and didn't have
anything.
On Tuesdays Do they have aspecial Disney World only show?
I think that's what that is.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
They have a billion different shows.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
Yeah, I know that To me it's like, well, you could go
see Cirque du Soleil anywhere,so I don't want to do it there.
If it's a different show, itmight be worth it.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Departure day, just a quiet morning walk.
If we have time depends on whattime our flight leaves we'll
take a lift or something toanother resort and check it out
and I'm assuming that I flew onAlaska.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
I'm not leaving until 8 o'clock that night.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
That's just all we're doing.
Maybe check out a resort wehaven't checked out before 4.30.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
I'm doing brunch at Summer House on the Lake.
It's just one of thoserestaurants I wanted to try, but
then I started thinking aboutit.
I might do the brunch at RaglanRoad, because that's I like,
raglan Road, and Disney FoodBlog just ranked it as their
number one brunch at Raglan Road.
They mentioned Summer House onthe Lake.
They mentioned Chef Art Smith'sHomecoming, which I've eaten

(25:10):
there.
That's good.
I wouldn't mind going backthere.
But it's just my Disney Springsday Wander around, maybe do a
little shopping, checkeverything out, have some brunch
and then just head back to thehotel and wait for
transportation to take me backto the airport.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Perfect, that is my trip.
The total cost for both of us,with the hotel I added
everything on without taxes, forboth of us, with the massage,
is $6,297.80 for the entire tripminus flight.
That's for all the food, food, all the safari, even all the
coffees and whatnot all thecoffees every.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
I added every single thing, so, yeah, you might be
looking more like it.
7 000 with the merch, but it's590780.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
When christy saw that , when she would see the price
of the massage and decided shedidn't want to do it.
So yeah, that's the price Icame up with for my all, no
holds barred, seven days, justdo whatever I wanted to, and
price didn't matter at all yeah,I know I picked a couple of
spendier restaurants topolino'sspending, our kusis is

(26:15):
definitely, especially if youhave an appetizer and a couple
drinks.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Yeah, you're looking 150 bucks probably per person
there, and then the tours andthe fishing trip.
That's my equivalent of yourmassage day.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
Right, your spa day.
It's the same $300.
Yeah, you probably are at like$3,000.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Probably more than that just because of the hotel
and stuff, because if it's fivenights, six nights Right.
Yeah, six nights yeah.
Because $4,000 or so, actuallyprobably more, maybe.
Yeah, because it's not split inbetween two, right the hotel's
not split between two.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
That's the main price .

Speaker 2 (26:49):
I'd say about $5,000.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
I could tell you right now it was $851 a night
for the Savannah Room Okay.
$732.50 a night for a deluxestudio at Boardwalk Okay.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
I'm trying to think that's probably $50, $150.
I can't remember the fireworkscruise.
I think there's a minimum.
You just can't go by yourself.
You get in the whole boat andso it costs you.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
You're going by yourself, so everything's
amplified, unless you meet somepeople.
Walk around with a shirt thatsays who wants to go on a
firework?

Speaker 2 (27:25):
cruise.
Who wants to go on a fireworkcruise with a rando?

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Right.
So that's our no holds barred.
Seven days no parks, no rides,Just excursions and fun, and I
think that sounds like anamazing trip.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
It does.
It pretty much proves that it'sjust cheaper to go into the
parks.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Oh yeah, because we're spending our time drinking
and eating instead of swimming.
I mean I wouldn't eat that much.
There's no way I would spendthat much because I couldn't eat
that much food.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Because it would be really expensive food.
So a day in the park or food, and it's the same cost.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Realistically, if we were to go, it would be like a
inexpensive breakfast, somethinglight for lunch and then a nice
dinner.
There'd be one meal a day.
There wouldn't be these twobigger meals that we'd eat.
I wouldn't have a drink.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
We're talking three to five alcoholic beverages a
day, which sounds well, youwould have that many, I would
probably still only have acouple, maybe three so yeah,
thanks for listening and cheers.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
