We're going to start with reading Genesischapter seven.
Now I'm doing somethinga little bit different tonight.
So I'm going to becomparing the master text,

translation of it.
And the Septuagint and the Syriac or the

to also the Vulgate and lastbut certainly not least, actually,
I should have said thisfirst, the Samaritan text,
because the Samaritan text is actuallythe oldest of all of the texts.
Okay, let's do this.
Genesis chapter seven, verse one,
Yahweh said to Noah, comewith all your household into the ship,
for I have seen your righteousnessbefore me in this generation.

So the Septuagint over on the right side,it says, and the Lord God.
So again,instead of just simply Lord or God
or Yahweh or whatever the case is,it says the Lord God.

And the Lord God said toNoah or Noah, enter

For you have I seen righteous before mein this generation.

The Syriac, which is,a little bit younger than the Septuagint.

And again and so we do have thiskind of like this interchangeable,
the interchangeableness of the Yahweh Tetragrammaton,

And the Lord said to him, go, go
in, you and all your house into the ark.

Quick little peek into the Samaritan text.

Again,this is translated from the messianic.

before we have, chapter six where it says,it just says two of every animal.

So let's, let's just quickly take a peekback here in Genesis chapter six.
Verse19 of every living thing of all flesh,
you shall bring two of every swordinto the ship to keep them alive with you.

Just says two.
But it says nothing of of of seven.
But here it says two verse 20 of the birdsafter they're in kind of the livestock,
after they're kind of every creeping thingof, of the ground after.
It's kind two again, it's redundant here.
Two of every sort will come to youto keep them alive, you know.

So we have it over and over again.
If, if all you had wasGenesis chapter six,
then you would think that it's just twoof every animal.
You would not even think of it being sevenof every animal or seven pairs.
And I'll get to that in just a moment,
because there are different translations,different interpretations.
Genesis chapter six. Let's do this again.
Genesis chapter six, verse19 of every living thing.

See, somebody can make an argument,look at
it says every living thing of all flesh.
You shall bring two of every sort.
Male and female.
Then it repeats itself in verse22 of every.
So it will come to you.Only time will come to you.
Whether willingly.
You know,it'd be easy to make an argument like that
and willingly ignorewhat it says in the next chapter.

You shall take seven seven pairsof every clean of every clean animal.
So why?
Why would he wantseven pairs of every clean animal?
Well, it doesn't tell us exactly why.

God likes clean animalsbetter than unclean animals.
God wanted the extra animalsto be used for sacrifice.

Okay, so another thing is to, the extra,the extra animals
instead of one pair, seven pairsfor for food.
I think because God doesn'twant us to be eating unclean.

Rathereating meat from only clean animals.

So a lot of people think that thethat the law of Moses, the Torah,
was it only came through Moses.
It didn't exist before Moses.
Oh, really? Well, here, no one knows it.
He knew the differencebetween clean and unclean animals.
He knew exactly how to worship God.
He knew what it was like to be righteous.
He knew how to be righteous.
And therefore you'd have to know, the lawin order

to know what righteousness isand to be able to obey God.

This one verse in the other,in the other translations.
So, Genesis chapterseven in the Septuagint, verse two,
and the clean cattletake in to the sevens.
Now, you see,it doesn't say literally seven pairs,

but it says sevens clean cattle in sevens,male and female
and unclean cattle pairs, pairsmale and female.
So there are some people that say, well,it just meant
like seven, not seven pairs.
And then we have like the Bible,that makes it very clear
that it's seven pairs,not just simply seven.

The Syriac translation,or the Syriac manuscripts.
And this is the pesquisa,this is actually the translation here

So Genesis chapter seven, verse two.

What does this mean to you?
Is this means seven pairs,or does this mean seven of each kind,

I read this, it sounds like thisparticular, Brenton Septuagint
makes it sound like there are only sevenof the clean and two of the unclean.
So, you know, not seven pairs

So let's read, this the Syriacverse three, also from A bird of Heaven,
seven by seven, male and female,to save seed on the face of all the earth.
So the message doesn'tsay anything about the, the, regulation
or the, command for the unclean birds,but the Septuagint and has that in there.

And the Syriac does not have an in there.
So the Syrian kind of follow
is a little bit more like the messianictext compared to the Septuagint.
The Latin says of the fowlsalso of the air, seven and seven, the male
and female, that seed may be savedupon the face of the whole earth.
So again, the the,the Vulgate, or, yeah, the Vulgate.

It's seven and seven, and it doesn't sayanything about the unclean. Now.
The Samaritan.
Genesis chapter seven, verse three.

And the Vulgate says, yet

So instead of not just living thing or.
Offspring, offspring, it says substance.
I made from the face of the earth.
And again, the Samaritansimply says, for after seven more days
I will send rain on the on the earth40 days and 40 nights, and I will wipe out
from the face of the landevery living thing that I have made.

Okay. Verse five. Back to the messianic.
No one did everything that Yahwehcommanded him.
The Septuagint says,
And Noah or Noah did all things,whatever the Lord God,
instead of you got again,Lord God instead of Yahweh and, Syriac.
And no one did everythingthat the Lord Jehovah,

Lord, Jehovah, being alland in all capitals commanded him.
And the Vulgate.
I'm sure the Vulgate kind of simplifiesit, as it always does.
And here again it does.
No, I did all things which the Lordjust simply the Lord had commanded him.
Okay. Moving on. Verse six.
Now the Samaritan text says, and not,the or Noah
(13:52):
did according to all thatShammah had commanded him.
Genesis chapter seven, verse six.
No one was 600 years oldwhen the flood waters came on the earth.
Septuagint.
And Noah was 600 years oldwhen the flood water came upon the earth.
Syria.
And Noah was a son of 600 years,
and there was a flood of waterson the earth.

And Noah was 600 years old when the flood,when the waters of the flood overwhelmed
or overflowed the earth.
And the Samaritan saysexactly the same thing.
Verse seven. Back to the messianic text.
Noah went into the ship with his sons,his wife, and his sons wives.

Septuagintand and then went in Noah and his sons,

and his wife,and his sons wives with him into the ark.
Because of the water of the flood.

The Vulgate, and of the beasts,

Whereas the Samaritan says of cleananimals and animals
that are not clean, and birds,and from all creeping on the ground.

The Septuagint, verse 11, in the 600th
year of the life of Noah,in the second month, on the 27th
day of the month, on this day,all the fountains of the abyss
were broken upand the flood gates of heaven were opened.
Syriac says, in the 600 yearyear of the years of the life of Noah,
(18:57):
in the second month,in the 17th, in the month, in in it.
In this day.
All springs of the great depths exploded,
and the flood gates of heaven were opened.
Now, you know what? Maybe I should.
Maybe I should do thisbecause I know some people.
There are some people that are just,you know,
they take it to super, super,super literally.

Not that it really gives usany meaningful, meaningful detail,
but there is more detail here.

as opposed to just simply the shipfloated on the surface of the waters.

Reddick verse19 says the waters rose very high.

Going on with the Septuagint, verse 18,the water prevailed and abounded
exceedingly upon the earth,and the ark was borne upon the water.

The flood was 40 days on the earth,and, increased and the waters increased,
and they lifted the ark,and it was lifted up from the earth,
and the watersprevailed and increased much on the earth.
And the arkwas moving on the face of the waters.
A little bit different, like in other.
So in the Sep two, in the, messianic,it says floating or floated
the, Septuagint, the ark was born

upon the waters, bear up the ark.
Bore up the ark, lifted it up.
Whereas in the Syriacit's like the ark was moving.
Latin.
The flood water, or the flood was 40 daysupon the earth, and the waters increased
and lifted up the ark on high from earth.
For they overflowed exceedingly,and filled all the face of the earth.

And the ark was carried upon the waterscarried bore up.
Okay, nothing differentin the Samaritan, by the way,
according to the Samaritan, here there isthere is nothing different.
And there are no differencesfor the rest of the chapter.
That's at least nothing here. That's,one word.
Two for the word.
Two in, the only difference here from hereto the end of the chapter
(30:55):
in the Samaritan is just in verse 23,the message reading text says,
and to the foul of the heaven,whereas in the Samaritan
it just says simplyto the birds of the heaven.
So everything elseis the same in the septa or the Samaritan.
So I'm not going to that kind of botherto read that sense.
It's the same message which, verse 19,the waters rose very high on the earth,
(31:17):
and all the mountains that were underthe whole sky were covered.
Septuagint.
And the water prevailed exceedinglyupon the earth, and and covered
all the high mountainswhich were under heaven, All right.
Vulgate.
And the watersprevailed beyond measure upon the earth,
and all the high mountains were underthe whole heaven were covered.
Moving on to verse 20.
In the mass readings the watersrose 15 cubits higher than the.
(31:39):
And the mountains were covered,and the waters rose 15 cubits higher.
That's 45ft higher.
And the mountains were covered.
Septuagint fifth. Dean.
Aquinas is 18in.

22.5in. Higher.
Or 22.5ft, I should say Septuagint.
15 cubits upwards.

Was the water raised? And?
And it covered all the high mountains.Syria.
The waters exceeded 15 cubits higherand covered the mountains.
The, the Vulgate and the waters was 15

If you were to interpret that to mean thatthe the waters were actually 15 cubits

higher than the. and the mountains.
We got three more verses to,

One thing that really sticks out to me,and I know it's not in this chapter,
it's in the next,but one thing that really sticks out to me
is that, God, after the 40 days,after the 40 days,
40 days of the rainand all that kind of stuff,
(32:42):
it wasn't like right awaythat, that they came out of the Ark.
They stayed there for months.
The ark was floating for months.Long time.
Moving on here, Genesis chapter seven,verse 21, in the messianic,
all flesh died that moved on the earth,including birds, livestock, animals,
every creeping thing that creeps onthe earth and every man in the Septuagint.
And there died all flesh that moved uponthe earth of flying creatures and cattle
(33:07):
of of the wild beasts, and every reptileagain, reptile instead of creeping
reptile, moving upon the earth,and every man Syriac and all flesh
and it all fleshended, that creeps on the earth.
So again, there's a difference in orderhere, isn't it?
A difference, an order.
And by the way,the Syriac is older than the messianic.
Genesis chapter seven, verse 21.

And again, this is as I understand,older than the messianic text.
This is the Aramaic,the Pashto, as they call it.
The, well, it's to be very specific.
It is the to Holy Bible translated.
Okay. So yeah, it's in a different order.
It says, and all flesh endsended that creeps on the, on the earth.
(33:53):
So that is taken from like, you know,two thirds of the way through from,
you know, in the messianic textand putting it in the first, third.
Once again and all fleshended that creeps on the earth and heard,
heard animal and the wild beastsand all that, and all the creepers
that creep on the earth, and all childrenof men, everything that had the breath
of the spirit of life in its nostrils,
(34:16):
of everything that was on dry land, died.
I know I went ahead a little bit there,but let's check out the mass.

In the Septuagint, and all things that,

Vulgate both of those versesand all flesh was destroyed.

and of beasts, and of all creeping thingsthat creep upon the earth, and all men
and all things, whereinthere is the breath of life on earth died.
Okay.
So the next verse in the mosaic, every,every living thing was destroyed.
That was on the surface of the ground,

including man, livestock, creepingthings and birds of the sky.
They were destroyed from the earth.
Only Noah was left.
And those who were with him in the ship.
Septuagint and God blotted out.

And they were blotted out from thefrom the earth.

And he and he blotted out all that
live on the face of the earth.
Children from from children of men,and unto the domestic animal,
and unto the creeper,and unto the bird of heaven.
They were wiped out from the earth,and no one remained.

says and he destroyed all the substancethat was upon the earth, from man
to beast, and the creeping thingsand and fowls of the air.
And they were destroyed from the earth.
